I rattled off a list of items that would be moved and estimated a number of boxes. My estimate of boxes was terrible. It was a one bedroom apartment and frankly, I haven't moved that many times so I was way off and that's totally on me. But somehow, all the furniture items I listed on the phone didn't make it to the work order so when the movers showed up on moving day, they were not prepared for the items to be moved. I want to state clearly that the two moving guys were amazing. I think the lead guy was named Manuel and he couldn't have been easier to deal with and he really wanted things to go well. Polite, efficient and everything I could ask for but they brought what was basically a Ford pick-up truck pulling a trailer based on what they thought they were hauling. But because they were amazing, they got more into the trailer than it originally looked like but not everything in the apartment. When we got to the new house, they were great at moving everything in. At that time, I got a call from the office wanting to settle the bill before everything was off the truck I guess. I was fearing a tense conversation but they were civil (and so was I) and we got it worked out. I was going to talk to them about another trip to get the remaining items but at the last minute decided the logistics of getting to the old apartment to meet the truck were too complicated for us and my son rented a U-Haul and picked up the remaining items the next day. So to sum up, I would use them again but: -I would want to see the work order in advance to make sure we were aligned on the items to be moved. In fact, I wish I would have written down what I had and emailed it to them. If you use them, ask to see the work order in advance. -Since I'm not a professional mover and have no idea how many boxes a move takes (we had the quoting conversation a couple of weeks before the move), I would hope that if I throw out a ridiculously low number (which I did) that they would question it based on their experience. If those two items had been handled differently by me and them, it would have easily been a 5 star experience for me and it could be for you.

It's mind blowing on how terribly horrible my moving day went and is still dats following getting worse and worse as I find more stuff that was damaged. We were told yes nothing was left in the house, except a outside umbrella. I was upstairs putting a bedframe together (they stopped half way thru) they removed the less then half full truck and then it was time to sign for the paperwork and hand them my check. My dad had agreed to pay the extra trip/hour when I realized they had left for a 2nd load without talking to me first. I signed the paper & paid $380 and thought everything was all good. WELL it wasn't they ripped my sectional, dug paint off my stair case and banister, they left 20 boxes/totes in the Garage that are clearly marked what room and where they go, I had kitchen totes in my children's room , my bed frame for my master bedroom was in the living room floor under the coffee table, they left my $3800 mattress slumped over my dresser. All of my bedding, pillows and my clothes , My sons Xbox games were all left in the garage or on the back patio for some reason, my dresser was left on it's side wrapped in tape, broke my deceased grandfathers rocking chair, the list of nightmare heartbreaking things go on and on.... John also charged my dad $400! And me 380! Again We never agreed to a second load ! Not to mention when they left for the 2nd load they left their son here for me to watch!!! Well as if that's not bad enough when it became bedtime we couldn't find my sons special blanket anywhere so we drove back to that other house (30mins) and walked in and complete utter disbelief. There were tote/boxes everywhere broken picture frames, they left a 47 inch TV leaned against the wall, there was kitchen stuff, a desk , things that they left and lied about I don't even know if there is more missing at this point.... they smoked and stomped their cigarette butts on my grass & drive way. Which I was willing to see past some of this but as more and more came I got infuriated and hurt that someone would take advantage of me this way. I am a single mother of two and saved every penny I had to make this move. They stole my trust but my $ & damaged my stuff that I can afford to replace. I reached out to John and expressed some of my concerns about the broken stuff and what he charge my dad so much & the fact that I never gave permission to go for the second load he responded with some very snappy & rude BS lies and excuses and when I was sending him pictures of the evidence I have to prove everything that I am saying he blocked me. I've moved more than 24 times & this was easily the MOST frustrating thanks to Wheaton. The driver & loader arrived full of attitude about items that "should have" been broken down further, like tables, exercise equipment & bookcases. This info could have been conveyed to us BEFORE the move by the agent & not left to the last minute when everything was packed up, including our tools. Within minutes of meeting me & being at my home the driver made a gun with his hand & comments to the loader in front of me about killing my "stupid" (his word) pets. I later learned that he was allergic, but this begs the question, who would say something so AWFUL in front of a customer? And what kind of company sends this person as a representative into peoples homes when most homes in America have pets?? Wheaton had weeks ahead of time to figure out how to pack an especially large painting & it was still unpacked on moving day & had to be taken back to their warehouse. They ignored any marking of items as fragile & to "keep upright" as many boxes were delivered upside down and/or crushed. A white chair was not wrapped to keep clean & instead "protected" by greasy moving blankets & arrived with black smears on it. An actual hole was punched into the side of a desk. They slid an antique secretary across the floor & broke the leg. Their inventory system is a joke. They write down that they used certain sticker numbers but not what items those numbers pertain to. If you want one less headache, use someone OTHER THAN Wheaton & McGrath to help you move.
