Using several moving companies in the past to move my items across the country, I went to Pete's services looking for a simple local move. The customer service was prompt, friendly, and responsive, however there were caveats with the value of work. Here are some highlights: -Bedroom wall was damaged, will need to be filled and patched -Automotive parts were damaged, it was an accident -Assisted the crew members with some furniture disassembly (nice guys, but seemed a bit inexperienced) -Scratches on my tempered glass table as they left the screws in my TV (from mounting) and placed the TV on that table -Some items I wanted brought to my new place were left behind, I wasn't even questioned if I wanted it or not. Here's some feedback, hopefully to help relieve heartburn for future customers: -Allow a mover/staff member to assess the home they are unloading from or to. Do it in person or via zoom, for a more accurate quote. If this was proposed I would have happily complied -Allow the customer to hold the key to the truck if the items being moved aren't itemized, especially if the staff needs to make a stop before the destination (a nice to have) -Respond to negative reviews as well as positive reviews -Just charge the flat $240/hr for local moves instead of the inflated $1000/3 hrs + $240/hr afterwards. I had used Pete's moving service when I moved to Idaho from California. The truck broke down in front of my California home, and I know this because my neighbor across the street sent me pictures. So that was unpleasant and caused me undo stress. Then four years later, I contacted Pete's moving service and received another $6000 price quote to move a small amount of furniture back to California. Again, I was quoted $6000. On my first move I had a two bedroom house to move on my second move, I had a one bedroom Apartment size to move back. No heavy items such as refrigerator, washer, dryer, office and extra bedroom, furnishings, So to be quoted the same price was ridiculous. Amazing job and best moving experience! From someone who has moved 5 times over the last 8 years they exceeded all expectations. Arrived punctually, loaded and unloaded efficiently and were particularly caring of fragile items. They brought furniture covers and took great care to load/unload everything properly and got the job done within the expected timeframe. LOL what does that have to do with ANYTHING?? Then tells me that because of my review, it is MY fault that he now has to fire his employees. This is the type of Business Owner associated with this company - refuses to acknowledge any type of responsibility. I could tell within 1 minute of this call, he was not calling to make things right so I let him know our conversation was over and hung up. Pete then responds to my Yelp review with his message below. Not one time during our conversation or during my review did I ask for money. The purpose of this review is to communicate my experience with using this company, their quality of care, and customer service. Original Review: 1.5 Stars AT BEST. Quick Summary - leaving out a ton of ridiculous and unprofessional choices and decisions made by this company because there is not enough room in the text box. I've used Pete's 6 times now and the last move was 7/30/2024. I've never had anything but positive things that I've experienced with Pete's. I had cy and Isaac for my recent move of several extremely heavy solid oak furniture that I had stored at Pete's storage and needed moved into my curved upstairs bedroom. it's a ridiculous curved stairway with a chairlift rail attached also. these two young men worked together like pros and managed the move flawlessly. Didn't really want this giant painting we have had for 15 years anyway. It's made it through 7 other moves perfectly but oh well. Didn't particularly care about the wardrobe box full of my most expensive clothes that was smashed to smithereens either. We were told we would be loaded up and travel one day and then unloaded the next day. But that didn't happen, so by 9pm at night, of course we and the crew were exhausted. My husband suggested they just unload the rest of the boxes in the garage. They stacked them 5 or 6 boxes high making it so I couldn't possibly get to the top box or see how they were labeled. Gave not a care to anything marked fragile. Some platters were broken. They placed our outdoor furniture in the backyard on top of some rocks when we actually wanted the outdoor furniture in the front of the house in the enclosed courtyard. No one followed up after to ask if all went ok. But they had no trouble asking for a review. Here's your review. The only good things I have to say is that they arrived on time and got the truck over in a snowstorm. Do yourself a favor and just pay the extra money for another company. Response to owner's response: Thank you for reiterating in a very long paragraph the weather situation. That had nothing to do with smashing boxes and unloading boxes the way they did. Thank you for restating that yes my husband told them to unload the rest of the boxes in the garage. That has nothing to do with them not using the entire 3 car garage to perhaps create groups of boxes based on the room labels of the boxes. Or not stacking them FIVE or SIX boxes high on top of boxes labeled fragile. This moving company has so much potential but unfortunately I had a bad experience with them before they even showed up to move. I'm glad that I cancelled this company before it turned into a disaster. I was referred to Pete's by another moving company that couldn't fit me in. I spoke to Ashley who was extremely helpful and informative and had great customer service. She confirmed that I did not have any specialty items (extremely heavy) items and that I had 3 storage units that needed to be moved into our new home. (One was practically empty, then I had a 8x20 and 10x15 unit) I was very specific with her with what furniture we had. She told me that they would be using a 26ft moving truck and they could do the job within a 3-4 hour time span. It would cost $1200 and it was $300 per hour after the first 3 hours. I was called today by another woman that told me the 26ft moving truck was going to be too small and they needed to make multiple trips. I was not happy with this information because naturally that would add time on to the 3-4 hours I was going to use them for. This woman had Pete call me and he was not helpful, condescending and kept interrupting everything I said. He said that this was a 6-8 hour job. An all day job. I explained to him that this information was completely opposite of what Ashley told me and he did not care. I asked him if I could just use him for 3 hours to see what we could get done and he said no, that it would take his guys at least 3 hours to load my stuff. He didn't try to problem solve, or discuss any other options. Just out of curiosity I googled the cost of a 26 foot u-haul. It says it's a good size for a 3-4 bedroom home. Everything in the storage units was from a very small 4 bedroom home. Pete didn't even ask for pics of the storage units before he told me the job was all day. It was extremely apparent that since this company charges by the hour, they are just milking time for more money. I cancelled the job and will just have to figure it out myself. read more

Julian, Anthony and Jesse arrived at my house prompt and early. They were respectful from the get go and also called me 30 minutes before arrival. Initially I was skeptical as I've moved various times and each time had a lot of items damaged. They first went and walked through the house to gauge the job volume and items wanted. They meticulously wrapped all our furniture And took their time to ensure they didn't damage the house. Onto our new home, I asked to be extra careful with the walls and corners as it's a new build, they were respectful and took off their shoes in the house and re assembled all the furniture items and moved them to the appropriate rooms. They cleaned up after themselves and also ensured every last item was taken in. Scheduled a move. I was very clear that our storage closes at 5pm. They said no problem and booked a move showing up at 12-1pm They called me day of to move back my appointment by 1hr. I said that was fine, and reminded them of my storage closing time. At 1:48 they said they were on their way. By 2:30 they still weren't here. With a 5pm close time on the storage that is 20 min away, there was no time left to get the job done. They handled everything with excellent care, were respectful of the house and furniture, were personable and engaging, etc. The only reason for the 4 stars is the 4th mover of the crew. He was younger and sloppier. He needed a lot of direction from Jesus and dropped 2 of our boxes with glassware. Nothing broke! But it scared him and scared me.
