Great and fun experience for the kiddos. We booked the Loft Fireplace Suite (Balcony) for 7 people and the space was enough. One main bathroom and a bathroom with no bath on the upper level, 3 queen size bed and a sofa bed. The room wasn't extremely clean but I guess acceptable for this type of resorts. For our one night stay, the indoor water park is included for both the check in date and check out date so keep those wristbands. The Great Wolf App was also great to order food, see activities and set alarms. Very helpful. read more

This is our 1st stay here - I am still in room writing this review and had really bad experience. We booked the stay to celebrate my daughter's birthday and here for just a night as a family of 5. Sharp at 7 AM, the roof is shaking with loud thuds and drilling noises. We called help desk twice and it's over and hour and the roof is still shaking. As much as I understand this is outside the "quiet time", I didn't book a special hotel stay on a weekday to be woken up by construction (extremely loud drill) noises without any notice. On top of that, when we called the front desk, the response was, "it's outside quite hours" twice. As if I am complaining about some kid yelling next door. The kids are up and cranky and it messed up our entire days plans coz no one is well rested as we all were woken up abruptly at 7 AM. We won't be using any additional services and leaving. They shouldn't be giving out rooms directly below construction areas let alone families with young kids. There was no heads up to us about any of this which made this experience even more disappointing. Had we known, we wouldn't even have bothered booking. The hammer and drill noise is still on after an hour and 15 mins and the ceiling is still shaking.... read more

On the positive - excellent variety of water attractions. Several of the waterslides are very fast and intense! Lifeguards everywhere. The resort is safe and clean. On the negative - excessive use of automation. The "wristbands" don't always work. It was particularly cumbersome to scan my wristband when entering and exiting the parking lot. Also, daily parking rate of $25 felt like a money grab. Rooms in the new Tower Wing don't have room safes and it felt like corners were cut on room design to maximize ROI. Some of the waterslides were understaffed, resulting in long and slow lines. The place gets mad crowded, but the kids loved it! **Great fun and freat staff** I am a pocono resident so its easy for us to book a room or villa and go and enjoy. But the staff , that's what makes a difference at a place like Great Wolf and this post shouts out Kelsey and Doug in dining. Their actions when our birthday dinner was almost sunset by a incident involving a tempered salt Shaker and my expensive steak meal. 0 stars for housekeeping -- they didn't notice our original shower was broken, they didn't clean the shower when we requested it when the floor was wet (because the shower curtains are very short). This was by far the laziest housekeeping people we've ever encountered in our lives -- instead of taking the requested dirty towels away and replacing them, they left everything on the ground and just dumped a pile of towels on the sink. Additionally, they barely made the beds -- the sofa bed was ignored while the main mattress' sheets were all touching the ground. Only the kids bunks got remade properly. We passed other rooms and it looked like they actually made the beds, so we probably got assigned the world's laziest person. Food: buffet food is meh. Restaurant food a step up. Stick with dunkin' for breakfast. Ice cream not bad, soft serve is large portions. Mirror maze was basically all broken. Only 2 things really worked when we went in, by the next day only one worked. Pay dirt (mining gemstones/fossils) was a high value activity for my kids - extra worth when you have the 25% discount. Water park is tiny and cold (there's a few small hot tubs), but has a lazy river; slushies standard ICEE brand, mini golf is sad (only like 7 holes maybe). Kids had a ton of fun at the candlestick bowling -- there's a bunch of game modes to try. Only worth if you get the unlimited. Magiquest was 4-6 hours of running around fun and defeating monsters. Wands and attachments are all upcharges from standard. Mostly can only access up and down with elevators so when one is out of order it takes forever. Beware - No one ever told us that room service to clean the rooms were by request. We ask two service attendants in the hallway the same question and was told "we do all the rooms." Had to request toilet paper and towels because no one came to our room. *Lazy river was everything but lazy.. Don't understand why kids are allowed in the lazy river without tubes! Swimming and running while people are trying to float! There are two adequate pools for swimming and a wave pool. * Read your bill At the water park we ordered food and was over charged for some items. Adjustment was made when we brought it to their attention. Also gratuity charge was on the bill.. In our room about 8:00 PM the room above us had assuming kids jumping off of furniture sounding like they were going to come through our ceiling! Could not call down to the front desk room phone didn't work... Had to use the chat?? We were told quiet hours start at 11:00 PM... So beware it's ok if someone comes through your ceiling before 11:00 PM. read more

This experience was pretty much what I expected it to be during Christmas week - overcrowded. Now that we've got that out of the way, I will say that this is something fun and different to do. Especially when it's freezing outside and you need a way to keep your kids occupied. The hotel is actually smaller and easier to navigate than I had expected. It's only 3 floors, so even though elevators tend to have a wait you can use the stairs to get around which is nice. It's also a short walk from rooms to activities and restaurants. Things I loved - + The cozy lobby with a roaring fireplace and gorgeous Christmas decor + The kids nook in the room that had bunk beds and a tv + The kiddie slide area at the pool + The gift shop which had a lot of great toys, a build a bear and a candy store + That the pool area has a bar. + Fun activities outside of the pool like bowling, arcade, mini golf and the magic quest scavenger hunt + Dunkin' Donuts + A cute dance party for the kids at night in the lobby Things that were meh - + The pool area was so unkempt. Chairs are packed in on top of each other. Staff needs to do a better job of clearing out old towels, life vests and garbage from chairs. It's gross to have to walk by the same old pizza box for hours. Staff can easily do better with this. + I wish they had more activities on a Saturday morning. We saw a schedule that had morning activities on some other days, like a meet and greet with the wolf and yoga. Surprised to see nothing on a Saturday. I also wish the pool opened at 8 instead of 10! + Fireside restaurant. Mediocre food and high prices are definitely not surprising here though. Overall - something fun and different, and definitely worth checking out for a change of scenery. But if you can swing going during a quiet week I'd definitely encourage to avoid crowds. read more

My 8-year-old son and I came on December 23 and stayed for one night. It's only 90 minutes from where we live in NJ, which was nice. We checked into the hotel, which was busy and crowded, but they have kiosks to make check-in faster (although annoyingly, the first wristbands we got from the kiosk didn't work, so we had to return to the front desk--you use the wristbands to unlock your room, enter the water park, make room charges, etc.). We had dinner at the buffet--totally fine, serviceable, what you'd expect at a family resort. (I've had worse food at a family resort--e.g., Legoland in upstate New York.) The room was big, but dated and not very "fancy." It was also not soundproofed well; we could hear kids running upstairs (but luckily we are good sleepers, and we got good rest). We went to the water park the next morning at 10, stayed for about two to three hours, and had a great time. It wasn't too crowded at this time, and we didn't have long waits for any of the slides--which were a nice mix of fun, slightly scary, but not TOO scary. The water in the pools was quite warm, as was the air temperature--they heat it to 84, I believe. By the time we left, it was crowded, and most chairs and loungers were taken. Tips: go early to the water park (at opening), bring snacks and drinks of your own if you want (theirs are not cheap, and consider bringing your own beach towels (the ones they provide are thin). Overall, Great Wolf Lodge is good family fun. But it's crowded and not high-end, so keep your expectations reasonable, and you will have a good time. read more

Great experience for the kids... Mt son enjoyed his 10th bday here and it was worth it. Unfortunately it rained over the time we spent but inside is where all the fun was. Yet drawbacks were glaring. To start was the shaky front desk customer service. Many of them tried to avoid making eye contact so you wouldn't ask them for any assistance. The front end manager at check in was really cool. He helped us out with holding out stuff until our bus arrived to leave. The pool with the basketball hoops was filthy and salty ... needs to be maintained better.. The prices for the arcade were awful! A rip off compared to what they had available in prizes for ticket redemption. The food was pretty good .. I didn't like the fact that they barely served any beef. Pork options were plentiful ( which I don't eat) and the turkey sausage was hidden in the back to be used for omelets. The check in process is an absolute joke. No assistance provided whatsoever besides trying to upsell a package you don't need. I had to check with the front desk multiple times to get the correct package we actually did pay for. Parking and unloading is a nightmare. You can arrive early to use the water park, but then you either have to leave all your bags in the car half a mile away because the parking lot is horrible - or bring everything into the lobby and have someone from your party sit with it (more likely stand for 2+ hours because there's not nearly enough seating to accommodate everyone). I was charged the entire total for the stay immediately upon checking in, plus the $200+ I put down when booking the trip. A couple hours later a random $396 charge appeared on my card statement. The charge was nowhere to be found on my GWL bill. I spoke with the front desk and was told that sometimes the system randomly places authorizations on cards, and they're trying to fix it. But in the meantime, feel free to charge any additional purchases to the room, and it will just come out of that authorized amount and whatever is left over, plus the initial booking deposit will be refunded "eventually." The rooms are nice, as long as you don't require sleep during your stay. We stayed 2 nights. The first night there was a loud banging sound coming from the room above us. It went on until around 2am. It was also mentioned to the front desk and we were told to contact them if it happens again. Same thing happened the second night. Sent a text to the front desk, they sent security to investigate. The noise eventually stopped again around 2am. A couple hours later it was replaced by a loud hum/vibration that started and stopped randomly. Didn't bother reporting this one, decided to work on my review instead since sleeping wasn't as option. The water park is fine. Overcrowded and way too many band aids floating in the water, but my daughter had fun. We also pointed out the band aids but shockingly that wasn't taken seriously either. The food is adequate but way overpriced (luckily we already had that mysterious $400 authorization to cover it). Highly recommend not buying any food package and either bring your own or leave the lodge and eat somewhere else. This was our second trip here. Last year we came around the same time and had a completely different experience. Not sure what happened, but this trip has been one headache after another. We're really trying to have fun but we've been here an hour, went through check in, no information was given and we've had to ask random employees for help several times. Parking is absolutely awful. We spent too much money on the food, the drink machine has no ice, doesn't work. Went to get towels - no towels. Went into the changing room - it doesn't lock. It's so hot and humid in here it just adds to the anxiety. It's not even a hot day. Nickel and dime for everything. Nowhere to sit and the seating offered is not suitable for anyone with a knee issue. If you'd like seating you can actually sit in - extra $$. The hotel is pretty from the outside and we haven't gotten access to your room yet. I'm hoping to have a redeeming experience. Especially having spent over $1,200 already. Update: I see the AI response from management. Things haven't gotten much better. There is a wait for everything. People packed in and no one to ask for help. Everything has an extra charge, it puts parents in constant stress mode saying no to extra things. I absolutely wish I never made the decision to come here. It would have been cheaper to go anywhere else. Loud neighbors, slip in wet elevator, ignored room requests, and more. I never write reviews. I never have bad experiences! I've heard rave reviews about Great Wolf Lodge, so I was a bit disappointed. It may have just been the location we chose that made me feel this way though. Pros: -We got a deal so we only paid a little over $200 for the night, including water park passes for both days. -You can use the water park as soon as it opens the day you check in and can stay until the park closes the day you check out. -We got a pizza from the lodge and it was actually quite good. The reusable wolf cup is $5 cheaper if you add it on with the purchase of a pizza and you can refill it as many times as you want. -My 5 year old had a really good time! -All of the staff we interacted with were very nice. Cons: -It was dirty...mold in the pools, pieces of paper towel (at least that is what I hope it was) in the pools, wet tissues everywhere...just grimey -Our room had a balcony, but it obviously wasn't cleaned from the people before us as their were chips and other unidentifiable stains on it. -There we're bugs in some of the bathrooms, possibly baby roaches? Did have trouble trying to operate the tv. An instruction guide would go a long way to save customers time. The pool outdoors was relaxing and fun. Adults seem to enjoy that area while the kids were busy on the slides. Overall very fun experience. Only bad comment the bathrooms need to be kept in better shape. Paper towels and TP were not really available. The moms complained a lot about that and had to alert staff. We stayed at Great Wolf Lodge for 4 nights and overall had a good experience. The ambience is great, and there are tons of activities for kids and families. We especially enjoyed the entertainment in the front lobby. One disappointment: when booking online, the website let me select a King size bed, so that's what I chose. When we arrived, the room only had queen beds. My wife was pregnant at the time and really needed the extra space. When we raised it with the front desk, we got a pretty cold response. It seemed like King beds simply weren't actually available, despite being offered as an option during booking. I get that staff can't conjure up a bed that doesn't exist, but the option shouldn't be on the website if it can't be honored. We paid for an amenity we never received. Food-wise, we had a great dinner at Fireside Restaurant. Other spots were hit or miss. Service at Buckets & Bites was really slow, and it wasn't even that crowded, so it felt more like a staffing/training issue. The Creamery had the same problem: slow service and long lines. One more tip for anyone booking: budget for the $25/day parking fee, since it's not obviously included upfront. Overall a fun stay for the kids, but the bed mix-up and slow service at a couple of the food spots knocked it down a notch for us. read more

This place is so nice. I went here gor a mini 2 day vacation with my husband. It was easy to check in and we got our wristbands which let us use the waterpark for 2 days and a nice room overnight. Total for the room and waterpark was $150 and another $150 for 4 meals and parking. The room we got was very nice with a hottub and a fireplace and a balcony. It was really nice to stay in and definitely worth using the tub. The waterpark was crazy busy considering we went mid march on a Wednesday-Thursday but it was still fun. Inside the park they have a few places to buy food and drinks. Inside the hotel there was an ice cream place a conviniece store a dunkin. As well as mini golf, mini bowling and gem stone searching. They had a gift shop, a restaurant and a buffet restaurant. We have paid for the buffet restyfor dinner and breakfast for 2 and it was definitely worth it. This place has lots of things to do. Yea you have to pay for more add ons but it was nice to have everything in one place. We will definitely make our way back here read more

I was there for the very first time with my 2 boys and wondered why I waited this long to visit! My 2 boys, 5 and 9 yo had a blast! We went there for new year day and stayed one night. The room was so cute for the kids. There's a small twin and bunk bed as well. The water park is just the right size and not bad enough to lose your kids. We brought our own breakfast and dinner. There're microwaves in the common area. They were not occupied when I was there to warm up the dinner for my boys. So no complaints there. Boys love the wave pool and spent lots of time there. Difficult front desk. Impossible to communicate with management. Great Wolf Lodge does not care about the experience or satisfaction of their guests. I filled out a credit card authorization form to send my family to GWL. I spoke to someone on the phone to ensure it was noted in the reservation and taken care of. I got written confirmation. When my family checked in a couple of weeks later, the front desk said they had no record of a credit card authorization, made my family put down a card to double pay, and have since refused to communicate with me or respond to me ever since their mess-up. 1. lets start with $25 parking fee. This was the ABSOLUTE worst trip to a water park ever! They serve ALOT OF ALCOHOL so there's ALOT of adults under the influence. I had a man who was under the influence jump in my face very aggressively. My daughter had a reaction to the chemicals in the water. This is the second GWL we have visited and it was a much better experience than the other (Sandusky,OH). This resort underwent a huge renovation and expansion in 2024, and it shows. Room: Our room was large, clean, and comfortable. Amenities/activities: The fact that our 4-5 year old magic wand still worked with the current devices / objects, was great. Just visit the shop to get them to re activate it (for free) if it's not working. 10 pin bowling was fun and perfect for small hands. Food: Food of course is overpriced and average quality. Bring food if you can. But it's ok in a pinch. Pool / waterpark: Of course, this is why families come here. This one is a great one. Lots of slides, plenty of seating if you loom around a bit. A nice progression of slides/pools/areas for all ages from toddlers, to big kids, to teens/adults. It was a bit crowded but what can you do about that. We would visit again, and definitely visit here rather than OH. read more

Part 3 of 3 (final part!) The lodge/stay: We arrived by bus and didn't have to pay for parking or all the very many misc fees. We had early check in and the process was smooth. Room was cozy and nice/clean. But on our second night there, chicken little said it best- the sky is falling! Part of the ceiling fell in the kids bedroom area, as we came back from the waterpark and wanted to shower and have a good night in. It was very visible that our upstairs neighbors, were leaking water into our ceiling! Man I don't know what went on upstairs but you could see the water damage in the ceiling that wasn't there before. The ceiling had a darker shade that wasn't there before and the sky fell. Now luckily for us, we were nearby that area but not directly under it. We called the front desk who sent 2 guys to our room an hour later (she said we were second in line to have it checked out). An hour felt like eternity because we were all like, what now? We can't stay here or sleep here anymore! When the guys came, they looked extremely upset, shook their heads and said it was not good at all. They left, and about 10 minutes later, we got a call saying that we would be moved to another room. For our troubles, we were upgraded to a large suite with 2 bedrooms(a master with a king bed and private bathroom, and a large bedroom with 2 queen beds and plenty of walking space so much so we played manhunt/hide and seek in the dark here at night!), 2 bathrooms, 3 large TVs, a large living room/kitchenette, and on the renovated addition to the lodge. It was clear this was on a whole different level and much more renovated than the original rooms from when the lodge was first built. Also much quieter! Even the wristbands for them were different and much nicer looking and of better quality. What a difference! The stay went a lot smoother after that, and throughout the entire stay from day 1 to 4, all the housekeepers were extremely nice and brought plenty of extra towels and things we asked for in a very timely matter. As pretty private people, we had the do not disturb sign at our door and never asked for our rooms to be cleaned during our 4 day stay. We're great at cleaning after ourselves. What we were pleasantly surprised about was how much they respected that sign even though we had requested items- they put a large garbage bag hanging on the doorknob with all the items we requested. In hindsight, we probably should have taken the sign off if we requested things but they were very respectful about it and we loved that. All in all, a great July 4th weekend was spent here! Very family friendly, or even a girls trip to get away temporarily (which is what we did!). We were able to see the pool area and the ropes course from our balcony in the original room we had as well. The fireworks were 9:30pm at the pool area and we loved the fact that we could see it super clearly from our balcony instead of being in the enormous crowd at the pool deck. I would come back again, but maybe just 1-2 days instead in the future. And... maybe pick a better room even though it's more expensive. Treat yourself because you deserve it! read more

However, our recent stay in the new Mountain Side wing revealed several concerning issues: Check-in and Accessibility Problems: The new Gate 3 check-in area lacks ADA accessibility, which wasn't communicated beforehand Nearby parking spots don't accommodate luggage carts and block access to gate 3 Multiple staircases make transportation of belongings difficult We had to walk to the main entrance, only to be redirected back to the new check-in area Room Assignment Issues: Initially assigned a room at the hallway's end Requested a closer room due to the long walk Room wasn't ready (despite 4pm guarantee) Had to wait at the pool with all our belongings Never received the promised text notification Staff expected us to use an app without informing us about it Later, I learned about an ADA-accessible Door #1 near our original room assignment Facility Problems: Only 1 working elevator out of 3 in the 6-floor new wing New rooms showing early wear and tear Exposed lamp wiring (potential fire hazard) Uncomfortable bunk beds and extremely firm sofa bed Quality feels inferior compared to the main wing Service Decline: Reduced staffing levels affecting ride operations Long queues due to understaffing (only 1-2 staff at 4-ride entrances) Unprofessional pool area staff (particularly at the ice cream station) Bathroom maintenance issues Replaced human customer service with QR code/AI system Removed pool area amenities (clothing spinners) Changing room facilities lack basic features (no hooks for dry clothes) Inconsistent pool security presence Wristband color system doesn't match the actual bands provided While our children still enjoy the activities, these issues significantly impact the parent experience. The kids had a blast! Everyone is so nice and this place is a well oiled machine that functions well even with all the chaos. The room was nicely cleaned. We had a wonderful dining experience at Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos PA, José De Jesús González, the culinary lead line cook, was outstanding. The food was delicious and everything was very well organized. What impressed me the most was that he personally went around to each table, introduced himself, and asked how the food was. We took the kids here for their birthday. VERY VERY expensive. When we first arrived the front desk lady kept asking me for the card i used. I kept telling her I used apple pay because that was their option on the website. She sat and argued with me for about 30 minutes and I ended up having a panic attack and crying. The manager finally came out and apologized and said i was totally right, there is no card for apple pay. Anyway, We bought a room to stay in with the fire place and the jacuzzi tub. Well... The jacuzzi tub didn't work & the fire place kept flickering on and off. I had to call maintenance to fix it! Which took about 1-2 hours. When i spoke to the management she said she could refund me 20 or 25% i said that would be appreciative. But i spent over $600 and only got back $65.00. Honestly this place is a rip off and should only be used for the water park. Just buy a day pass. read more

My stay at Great Wolf Lodge was one of the most disappointing experiences I've had. I booked well in advance and specifically requested a room close to the activities for my children. I clearly explained that I have a medical condition and a newborn baby, which makes walking long distances very difficult. Despite all of this, I was placed in a room very far from everything, in a location completely unsuitable for my situation. The front desk staff offered no help at all, made no effort to accommodate my medical needs, and showed zero understanding of the fact that I have a newborn. The experience was stressful, exhausting, and far from professional. This is not the level of service expected from a family‑focused resort. I truly hope they improve how they treat guests with medical needs and families with young children. read more

I had a reservation at Great Wolf Lodge from August 29 to September 5, 2026. I was assigned in room 2009 when I checked in. However, the next morning came and I was completely covered by insect bites. In addition, my niece was also bitten by insects. I was outside the resort and my niece found an insect and took a photo ofbit before she killed it. She immediately reported the incident to the front desk and a manager came and took a report and immediately changed our room to room 3030. I came back from my appointment and I to made a report of my injuries. The resort stated that they need to have a third party company to do an inspection and no compensation won't be made afterwards. I took the manager that is not good customer service. I left and checked in three days later and still no response from the lodge. It appears that Great Wolf Lodge was just ignoring my issue until I left. I was so upset with the service that I decided to check out one day earlier than planned. I just got a phone call from the resort and they told me that their inspection revealed no bedbugs in the room. I then told them that it doesn't have to be just bedbugs and my injuries and my niece injuries just didn't happen out of the blue. I was offered a free stay from them and I refused it. The only compensation offered than was a refund of just one day. I will never return back to Grey Wolf Lodge ever again and they are quite overpriced. I strongly suggest that you don't come to this resort because customer service is horrible. read more

This is a review for adults without kids who were invited by their families with kids wondering whether they should join. I could find surprisingly little info on how one would fare here without kids and the answer is unequivocally "very poorly", haha. A lot of the negative reviews on here are also passionately angry, borderline unhinged, but there truly is a lot to dislike about this place nevertheless-some of it is the resorts fault, and some of it is the nature of what's on offer here. First the good: staff in and around the check-in area were all very friendly. Using a QR code to self check-in and getting a text 2 seconds later with room details was a breeze. If you bought packages though you have to go to an actual rep on a separate line. Fortunately our room was ready at 1:30. The rest of the families I was with had to wait a couple hours so we all just crammed into our room. The room itself (Family Balcony Suite) was quite nice. Clean. Good size too. Disappointing view of just a massive parking lot though. Grand Lobby is nice. The 9 hole mini golf course is decent and not too terribly priced. The WiFi works well enough, though there were a few times it severely slowed down for a few mins. Truthfully this is about where the good ends however. I see reviews from 5 months ago indicating $15/night for parking, then $20, $23... it is now $25 per night or $35 per night for valet. I live in a city and paying for parking makes sense there, desirable even, but in the Poconos mountains? $25/$35 is ridiculous, just build it into the price. The vibe in the entire resort is that of pure chaos. This is not a place to go to relax. Peace will not be found in a single public area. It is also unpleasant being around a bunch of visibly stressed parents. It took about 2 hours to regret agreeing to coming here. Towards the end of our first night one of the two abyssmally slow main elevators broke down, and as of the next morning, both were inoperable. Though both were fixed by the afternoon. I'd already decided to walk from floor 1 to 4 every time but even that is a chore between dodging kids, walking around large clusters of people during shows, and having to find what are nearly hidden staircases as the main areas staircase don't even go to the 4th floor all while dodging even more kids because they put some sort of interactive wand game right at the hallway entryways. It's seriously like they consulted children on how to design this place. Prices are high, but not too unreasonable in my opinion. There are establishments nearby and their prices reflect that. I've stayed in more remote parts of the poconos where prices were much higher. A good amount of people definitely brought their own food though as they should because if you were to create an exhibit about the tragedy of the modern American diet this could be exhibit A or B. There is a serious lack of even moderately healthy food options. A lot of fried and highly processed foods. At least they had a veggie burger though and I liked being able to order on the app. It was generally pretty timely. It's also nice that there is a full Dunkin' with normal pricing. A $3 egg and cheese is great for a resort. Alcoholic drink prices are in the ballpark of city prices. Didn't see much drinking going on though. I will say the bar at Fireside looked pleasant enough at least. The water park itself is a little depressing after dark. The severe fluorescent white old school office lighting is not a great vibe and there really isn't much theming inside. There are much nicer water parks out there, including nearby. I also love a good lazy river but this one is poorly (and barely) designed and overcrowded. Lots of afterthought energy in terms of its function as an actual lazy river rather than a depository for numerous slides, and again, chaotic. It's also disappointing how few outdoor areas there are. If I'm coming to the mountains I want to experience or feel like I'm in them at least a little bit. $125 for a whole day cabana rental is not so bad for a large group, however. The slides were also fun. Wait times at capacity are around 25 mins though. Last huge annoyance was receiving my bill after checkout and realizing I'd been charged for parking despite carpooling with another group. On the more minor annoyances side, sleeping with a wristband is uncomfortable. They should use some sort of removable rubber band for payment and room access, or even a wearable token like Princess Cruises does. Just sayin'. At least there's room service every day! That's a cost cutting measure I'm genuinely surprised they've not implemented. I'm sure this was all made a bit worse by the resort being at 100% capacity, but all in all would I come here again without having a kid of my own under any circumstance? No. Would I come back even if I had a kid? Also no. You can raise kids to be perfectly happy well adjusted adults without having to subject yourself to this. read more

Hidden charges everywhere! When we initially booked the rooms, we thought we were getting a good deal but then came all the charges. Here's some to start with 1) Resort fees- at $40 per day. You get wifi and coffee. The room coffee is atrocious! Who doesn't have phone data. One would think parking is included but it's not. 2) Parking- at $20 per day (plus tax) you have no choice since there is nothing else nearby. It's also so crowded you have to either park far away or circle and wait for someone to leave. 3) Water-- they turn off the water fountains at the park forcing you to buy or bring water. They also don't provide any in your room. So much for a resort fee. 4) Can't use the bowling as there is an extra fee for that. 5) there's not too many activities thru the day. 2 events are magi quest related (which is also another fee) The food is overpriced and over rated. I'd like to have pizza so we don't have to leave the water park. So we got 2 pies and it cost $20 per pie! They didn't even put cheese to the edge. You are paying for 25% crust! I also indulged in a drink. At $18 per drink you will definitely be staying thirsty my friends. Ok as for the water park it gets a 4 star review! There's so many kid friendly areas. From toddler slides to grown up slides they have it all. They have a splash pad and a wave pool. They have a hot tub for kids and one just for adults. They have a cool obstacle course for kids and a lazy river. They also have tube slides where parents can go with kids. I wish they did have a full family tube slides. You definitely need 3 days to explore it all. From what I saw there is enough life guards to man all the rides. It's also pretty clean. For a slow day it was very packed so we couldn't really find open chairs for towels and snacks. Definitely bring your own snacks and water unless you like over paying for those type of things. The rooms are large, clean and spacious and room service was fast the one time I asked for extra towels. But the walls are paper thin and you can hear all the kids running upstairs and through the halls. For the same price of an all inclusive in the Caribbean I'd rather go there unless it for a quick weekend getaway. read more

There were some positives: the water park is fun, the rooms are big, it's easy to get to, and every staff member we interacted with was helpful and super kind. There are some really good local restaurants a short drive away. The amount of up charging is somewhat predatory and puts a damper on the trip. We stayed 2 nights and really only 1 day and spent well over $1000. We mostly stuck to the basics (we had one dinner at the buffet, a minimagiquest, and about an hour of arcade time). The free events were disappointing. There were a few we were excited about (like yoga) only to find they were completely off the schedule even though they were part of the promotional and marketing materials. The free crafting events were a joke. The first was just a bin of old crayons put on the floor of the lobby with photocopied coloring sheets. The second was 30 minutes where every child was given 3 pipe cleaners and told to get creative. Everything is crowded and chaotic. It was hard to find a spot to sit in the water park. Getting food was frustrating, expensive, and disorganized. It's clear they only cater to the cabana crowd. I found more than one used bandaid in the water. The lifeguards are pretty great, though! The food is mediocre and is so absurdly overpriced. The Dunkin is such a poorly run disaster that it took us 45 minutes to get our food. I feel like I was misled about the room rate. I booked with a 30% off code and apparently only got that rate the first night. That was extremely unclear at booking. The parking expense wasn't mentioned anywhere. Looking at the bill was a gut punch after a weekend that was pretty miserable. It costs a lot to be miserable at Great Wolf Lodge. read more
