Let's just say I know why the French Toast Logs put them on the Michelin Guide because holy crap they are good! Great Maple is a small busy diner in Hillcrest serving up amazing brunch food. They do sweet and savory well. It is a must try!
Great Maple is an iconic San Diego staple and a non-negotiable visit every time I'm in town! Their night dinner service is incredible--the smoked brisket is unbelievable, so delicate to the touch that it literally melts in your mouth. Between the huge portions, beautiful patio aesthetics, and a staff that works like a well-oiled machine in walkable Hillcrest, it's a total 5/5. Pro-tip: Book a reservation ahead of time to secure a table, though you can sometimes slide in early on weekend mornings!
I had a great experience here at great maple. My friend and I sat outside and enjoyed a really private breakfast for most of the time. Service was fast and courteous! I got a simple two weed breakfast with sausage and it didn't disappoint! Everything was perfectly done and tasted great. I was happy the eggs were done over hard as requested. The chicken sausage were also very tasty!
We came here for a Sunday brunch to finalize our girls' weekend. We were a party of 5 and got seated within 20 minutes of arrival. Parking is horrible so be prepared to park in the neighborhood and walk. This is a leisurely place to dine. Despite having quite a bit of servers, it took awhile for food to come out as well as water refills. We were in the middle of the patio area so there were always servers walking by but just not attentive to our table. The pancakes were not the greatest. It was just a dollop of peanut butter on top with a fried banana. Those did not taste the greatest. Everything else we ordered was pretty good. We would go back for the food but definitely plan on it not being a quick spot to grab a bite.
My bestie and I went after the Summer Fridays pop up and got the best experience. Definitely a busy place because we arrived 30 minutes after they opened and were greeted with an almost full parking lot! We got a Vegan Hash with Jalapeños and it was so good !!! The portions are good for 2 people so great place to share a few plates. The coffee was amazing and this is the first place I've ever been offered oat milk for my refillable coffee! Definitely coming back with the rest of my friends!!

Can't even imagine what this place is like on the weekends! Fresh ingredients, and food came out pretty quickly. Finding parking can be a challenge especially with the surrounding community under construction but if you pack your patience to find parking the food here will be the reward! Restaurant was bright and simple deco but seemed a bit cramped. We were seated fairly close to the kitchen area but also next to the main walking aisle. Sitting somewhere different may have provided a different feel. Would definitely try this place again!

We got lucky with parking this morning just before 9am. They seated us right away since we there were only two of us. The service was exceptional and one point during Sunday brunch . The portions were ginormous and I could complain about the 25-30$ price tag on most of the menu items. Everything tasted delicious and my wife loved the ginger lime mimosa
After passing by this spot countless times, I finally made it in and overall, it was a solid experience with a few things worth noting. First off, the location is right in the heart of Hillcrest near the DMV, so it's definitely a busy area. There IS parking, but fair warning.... the spaces are tight. There's only one way in and one way out, which gets pretty congested. With it being such a popular breakfast spot, there were a lot of people (including families) waiting outside, and it felt crowded. A larger or more organized waiting area would really improve the experience. That said, once we got inside, things definitely picked up. The host was kind and got us seated pretty quickly, which I appreciated. The interior design is beautiful very spacious, airy, and thoughtfully put together. Each table had a small flower vase (looked real!), which added a really nice touch. Service-wise, Edgar took great care of us. He was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, which always makes a difference. For food, we ordered the steak with truffle fries and the French toast. The steak was requested medium but came out more well done than wanted. The truffle fries were really good, though. The French toast portion is HUGE definitely shareable. Personally, I would've preferred the syrup on the side because the bottom layer was pretty soaked, which gave it more of an eggy texture. That said, the bacon and blueberries paired really well and balanced it out nicely. Drinks were a bit of a mixed bag. The mimosas leaned heavily on the orange juice...more than I expected served in a more casual glass than I would've liked for the vibe of the place. I also tried the house coffee, which unfortunately didn't hit for me. Overall: beautiful space, great service from Edgar, and decent food with a few execution tweaks needed. I'd come back, but probably with adjusted expectations (and maybe park a block away next time)
We brought my husband for Father's Day and it was such a dad place to be! The portions on the French toast, pancakes, and table side beignets were massive! We ordered one ordered of the French toast logs on their own, one order of the French toast logs with fried chicken, the banana pancakes with peanut butter, and fried banana, and one American breakfast. For drinks we had the mimosa flight, and a hot latte. The service was great out on the patio and the ambiance was lovely. Brendyn was a great server and so kind. I appreciated the fountain behind us and that it's dog friendly though we didn't bring ours.
Food was excellent.. everything came out hot and fresh tasting... service was good and server up sold some breakfast items didn't Catch her name but she did well if the owner reads this exactly what you want.. the place is old fashioned but modern inside. The food is amazing the French toast is to die for. Bring an appetite.
What a pleasant surprise this was. We were sat really quickly and my eyes went all over the menu. I quickly ordered the Caesar of Spain and Pistachio Brie to start. The salad was intensely amazing and packed with flavor. The Brie and chutney.... Holy cow. I could have sat there and eaten a whole wheel. For entrees we ordered the prime rib and buttermilk fried chicken. The mashed potatoes....... Ugh. What a dream. I love old fashioned mashed potatoes that are still chunky! Perfectly flavored. The buttermilk chicken was insanely good. The waitress let me know I could substitute the thigh with a breast. So i ordered two breasts. They were so good and so moist. I can't stand dry chicken and this was nothing near. The donuts were huge and unexpected. They reminded me of fair food. When i bit into mine it felt super doughy and uncooked (i understand it was cooked thoroughly and this is just the texture of deep fried dough). It was heavy and dense. I had two bites and had to tap out. We took these home and ate these over the course of a two days. Quite a bit. As an overall complaint.. I'm not really for dog owners bringing their dogs INTO restaurants. As I understand the CDPH policies against non-service dogs in food facilities... i was surprised to be sat next to someone who had their dog on the booth bench and was feeding the dog from the table/plate. I've never seen a service dog doing that... I noticed a few employees stare at the dog eating on the bench and table and not say anything. Kinda gross. But I'll just have to keep that consideration in the future.

1M/10 Teleport, don't walk Truly the best food my boyfriend and I have ever had. I'm also a breakfast/brunch enthusiast so I was in heaven. We went for breakfast on my boyfriend's birthday and it was the highlight of our day so unfortunately nothing else compared the rest of the day The donuts came out first and made us speechless! The crust perfectly protects the light and fluffy inside and holds the maple icing beautifully! The bacon is crunchy and crispy and the perfect complimentary salty crunch to the soft warm dough. It's a unique mouth feel and you want to eat all 3. I recommend ordering them last The caramelized brie and braised duck skillet hash was so unique and delicious, we had never had something like that before. The meat was juicy and melted in your mouth with the brie and soft scrambled eggs. The bread was toasted a crisp golden brown and was the perfect vehicle for the hash. They came with a side which wow THE CRISPY POTATOES OMG they were one of our favorite bites. So herbaceous and topped with coarse flakey salt for a tasty balanced bite. By time we got to the french toast logs I was ready to tap out, but boy momma didn't raise no quitter and my man knows that applies to him as well so we did what we had to do. They're extremely dense, thick, and very filling so I would split with at least one other person. I slathered them bad larry's in whatever magical whipped butter they gave us and got to work. I had to be pried away from the plate and table and airlifted home because of how full I was, but I couldn't stop eating it. We had leftovers and they heated up decently, as well as the donuts! Neither got soggy from refrigeration or microwaving, so that was impressive! read more

First time visiting for dinner. We started with the pistachio baked brie which was pretty good. I ordered the prime rib since the waiter raved about it, and I do like prime rib, but it's so hard to find a good one. This place wasn't the exception. I was super disappointed in the prime rib. It was super firm and tough to cut despite it's beautiful presentation. The mashed potatoes and asparagus paired perfectly with the meat too. The gravy was also really good! Too bad the cut was poor. I was excited when I saw it too because it was a huge piece of prime rib. Oh well! My husband thought the burger was good but nothing special. Service was okay. No one came over to offer refills on our drinks until we basically got our check. The gentleman working the host stand was pleasant. Overall, the food and experience was average at best. read more

Great is great and Great Maple is close to it in my book. Great seating indoors or out. Great service from the moment you walk in, til the moment you walk out very full and happy. We got a recommendation here and I honestly remember this place from years ago being just as busy, but now even busier and why I hadn't got to try. But fate and the power of the most important weekend meal of the day, brunch brought us in. I knew I was gonna go for the Vegan Hash, but just before strolling over from some window shopping on Park Blvd, we got a food recommendation for Great Maple's French Toast Logs. Left that all to bae as it's smoked bacon syrup, brioche style cut and battered "fire logs", topped with fresh mountain blueberries + powdered sugar... He ate as much as he could, loved it but couldn't finish it. It's definitely a meal for two. Being the the plant-based foodie of the two of us I can say my, cilantro, charred kale, cinnamon glazed sweet potatoes, fresh avocado, garlic, harissa, mushrooms, onion, tomato, and yukon potatoes via the Vegan Hash was soooo delicious. I added a little hot sauce, ketchup and pepper to get it some more heat. And feel like love with this dish. I do wish they had more clear cut plant-based options in 2026, but always grateful for what I can enjoy, not to mention or server. Pretty sure things like the Kale & Quinoa Salad or Great Maple House Salad can be made dairy free, like their S.D. Eggplant Sandwich. Good beverage options, from Bloody Mary's to Daiquiris to Margaritas and all your juice, coffee, soft drink, tea and water needs. Located on Washington Street with their on lot, encompassed by a unique set of intersections and the streets Cleveland Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. Open from 8AM to 2PM Monday through Friday, til 230PM Saturday and Sunday with dinner hours Friday as well as Saturday only, 5PM til 9PM. Reservation encouraged. read more

The blueberry oat crumble pancake was very delicious! 5/5 for the pancakes! We also got the 2 eggs breakfast with an addition of pork sausage which was 3.5/5. The sausages were flavorful but everything was on the ordinary side. Everything was a little more on the pricey side. Parking lot is limited so we had to do street parking. Our server was pretty attentive. read more

Been here twice and liked my second time around a lot better! I can see why they have a Michelin star and it's well deserved. I ordered the Scrambled Eggs with Zucchini and potatoes. It was really good and great taste. The busboy was so kind and funny when taking the things away. Service was very good and helpful. Place is loud but because it fills up fast but it's a great place to have a great time. read more

I've been coming here for years! This is by far one of the best brunch spots in San Diego! Hands down! And I'm not even exaggerating! They have some of the best service in town! Staff are friendly! Food is absolutely delicious! And the vibe is lively! Weekday visits may be less busy, reservations are definitely recommended for weekend brunch. Parking is a doozy! I always recommend parking at the DMV lot. It's a stone's throw away. As for recommendations, you have to try their signature maple bacon donuts! They are fire!!!! Powdered beignets with the lemon dipping sauce are equally delicious! My wife and I enjoy sweet n savory dishes, so we always get the chilaquiles and french toast! And believe me when I say, you can't go wrong with either one of them! read more

Y'all... this place is WORTH THE HYPE 100%. I went on a Sunday morning with some friends and put our name in for four. We had time to walk and grab a coffee down the street and come back before our name was called. Once seated, we ordered the maple bacon donuts for the table. Dare I say a MUST have! I usually don't love maple flavored foods, but these donuts got eaten quickly. I then got the picnic brunch because I was in a snack mood and it was so amazing to just graze on some high quality bread, cheese, grapes, and jam. My friends were also raving about their orders. The decor was cute, light, bright, and I can't wait to bring out of towners here soon! read more

Love love this place! Every time the service is amazing and the food does not disappoint. We made a reservation for Valentine's Day and were seated around that time. Our server was fantastic. Cheerful and attentive. We started with their spicy Bloody Mary. Perfect amount of heat and the bacon flavor was delish. French toast logs a must! We added fried chicken and it was a perfect match. The chicken was white meat with light breading. Chorizo scramble. These were wonderful flavors. Cilantro sour cream, grilled onions and peppers. And the potatoes had a great seasoning. The portions are huge so we had 2 meals from our order for two of us. Parking is always an issue but the DMV is across the street so that's always an option when they're closed. Came by for breakfast. Parking was a bit tricky and had to circle around a bit since the parking lot was full though it is pretty small. We were seated quickly after checking in. The waiter was friendly & welcoming as she brought us the menus & some water. I ordered the french toast logs. They are huge! Taste wise, they would have used a little more flavor. The bacon was nice & crispy, perfect to my liking. The inside seems small but they fit a good amount of tables/people. Pricing is a little on the higher side which is understandable for the size & location of the place. They only do cash or card, no tap pay so make sure to take cash or card. read more

Breakfast was such a hit here! First time being here and will absolutely be back. Ordered Johnny's Silver dollar pancakes with the French blueberry crumb and it was so delicious. I added the apple chicken sausage on the side, you don't see that option in most restaurants so that was nice ! and it just made the whole meal that much better. Nice vibe inside the restaurant but the patio is really the spot to sit and enjoy breakfast. Servers were friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. Overall just a really solid breakfast spot in Hillcrest. Be back soon read more
This place was phenomenal. We went here for brunch with friends and the food was 12/10 incredible. The squash blossom hash was so delicious, really fresh vegetables and the goat cheese was the perfect touch! The maple bacon doughnuts were so delicious too, they had the texture of cake and really nice flavor. You could tell they were homemade and fresh. The ambience was great, lots of indoor and outdoor space for seating. Our waitress refilled our waters constantly without us asking and many staff members checked on us and made sure we had hot sauce and other condiments. This would be a perfect spot for a brunch date or a place to take out of town guests. It does get very busy though so make sure to get here a little early to avoid the crowds. Came here for Mother's Day for the first time and it was soooo good!! Customer service was amazing, we loved our waiter. Food - 10/10. Because it was Mother's Day, they were out of high chairs but had a booster seat for our son, which worked out perfectly!! We will be returning, thank you!!! read more
Whenever I'm in the area I like to stop by here for some awesome maple bacon donuts. . I have never been disappointed, however I think this time they fried the donuts just a tad too long. They were still delicious with all that gooey topping and generous bacon but this time wasn't what I had expected. The donut was a bit too hard to bite into. . It's the first time that I've gotten them like that so I didn't want to complain. Because as I said, they were still delicious. The wait staff are always very attentive so always nice and because it was around 2:00pm it wasn't busy and had plenty of parking. I'll be back. read more

The parking lot is also pretty small and gets packed pretty fast if you go for weekend breakfast. Although for a weekday lunch, there were plenty of parking spots. The maple bacon donuts...fatty, glistening, crispy bacon bits with a nice warm sweet maple glaze. DELISH! Although it is denser than your typical donut and one donut is very filling. The CHILAQUILES!! SO GOOD! Seasoned perfectly, nice refreshing creamy cream and avocado. I appreciated that they didn't drown the chips in salsa either. The chilaquiles tasted so good in the airfryer the next day too. This place has pretty big portions!! The portobello mushroom fries were crispy, tender, and a bit on the pricier side. I was hesitant about this place because of all the hype and some friends' mixed experiences, but my dining experience here was actually great! My entire table ordered only savory items but each one was executed very well. Nice quality ingredients, some interesting twists/additions to spice up the typical brunch fare. I had the hardwood smoked bacon scramble melt which was rich and came with these crispy rosemary potatoes which I loved. My partner had the smoked brisket hash, which I highly recommend. The brisket is not too fatty and super tender, the pepper hollandaise is heavenly, and I loved the fresh elements of the kale and tomatoes which both balanced the dish nicely. The potatoes soak up the brisket juices and the result is just incredibly savory umami goodness. Portions are generous, we all took home leftovers despite our food being so delicious we couldn't stop eating. Service was timely and friendly, and they brought out a whole plate with four different condiments for us to try when we asked for some butter. The fig jam and hot sauce were both great, I recommend asking for some! Also the restaurant week special comes with a blueberry scone which is to die for! Please put it on the regular menu! The ambiance is nice and combined with the presentation of the dishes, it's very instagram worthy. Outdoor seating is comfortable but sitting inside inundates you with wonderfully rich maple smells. Fair warning that it can get quite busy even on weekdays, so a reservation if you know you're coming or a willingness to wait is necessary. My niece was going out to brunch in this area so I decided to check out this place out with my sister instead. I have heard about this restaurant for years and I have never gotten the chance to check it out. Parking is brutal, but that is to be expected. I ended up parking about 3 blocks away, there is a lot of construction in this area so that didn't help when finding parking. It was perfect timing since by the time I parked and made my way back, our table was ready. (I dropped my sister off first) This was Sunday around 1230 pm. (This was MLK as well) The place was packed by the time we sat down. There was numerous staff coming and going in all directions. The menu is insane, I feel like each item was carefully curated to have a blend of different tastes. My sister and I were debating among these 3 options: 1. House Smoked Brisket Hash- our famous slow smoked beef brisket, crispy yukon potatoes, white onions, charred kale, cherry tomato, smoked bacon, poached eggs red piquillo pepper hollandaise, chopped chive, served with fresh ciabatta bread - We ended up not getting this one, but maybe next time. 2. Great Maple French Dip- slow roasted ribeye steak, onion au jus, crispy onion, horseradish sour cream, french roll, served with pommes frites or mini salad - I got this, I have to say this was pretty good, the meat was not tough, but not really seasoned. I think more cheese, the meat itself should be seasoned more and the Au Jus wasn't too salty (while many are) but definitely needed more spices and more salt. The plate was insane. (mini salad and added fries were a plus) (Portions are quite large here, but the prices are somewhat high in my opinion) This would be an excellent dish if meat was seasoned more as well as the Au Jus. The bread itself would have been nice if buttered or toasted. 4/5 3. Slow Turned Polenta fresh made polenta, mascarpone cheese, roasted forest mushrooms, sundried tomato pesto, shaved pecorino cheese, single poached egg, local arugula petals-added smoked pork belly My sister chose this dish. It did come out with a good amount of smoked pork belly but there was something missing about this dish. The sundried tomato pesto was delish but possibly more greens or something else was needed to break up the fattiness of this dish. It was good, but uber heavy. I do like pork belly but I do not think smoked pork belly is a good choice with this dish. Salted Crispy Pork belly would have been better. 3/5 For Appetizer: Famous Portobello Mushroom Fries- parmesan crusted portobello mushrooms spears, red pepper flake & basil pesto aioli- These were INSANELY ONE OF THE BEST THINGS I HAVE EVER EATEN. Aioli was delish but a tad salty. 5/5 This was hard since we ate this first, all of the other dishes were expected to be just as good... If you had one choice to get one thing here, it would be these fries. Fresh Made Maple Bacon Doughnuts- made to order with our signature maple bacon glaze 3/5 We had to try these doughnuts since they are famous here. It comes in a pack of 3, maybe one day they will allow you to buy just one. I LOVED the glaze, not sure what the ingredients are in the glaze, but it was incredibly nommy. The donut was pretty good, it was sort of crispy on the outside and softer in the middle. Was this the best donut I have ever had? No. I found that the bacon was too hard and too much. They should use crispy crispy bacon for these (the kind that are like chips) and they do not need that much on the donuts. Hands down the dish was about the glaze, if there wasn't any glaze, I wouldn't order these again. Let me just say the SERVICE was top of the line one of the best places I've dined at. We were seated right away at the bar about an hour before closing. It was our first time here, and despite the long line outside, we decided to try it after seeing good reviews. Service (7/10): The servers were kind and helpful, especially knowing it was our first visit. The hosts, however, felt a bit standoffish and unclear. When we chose bar seating, we were told "it's open bar" without further direction, which left us confused. We ordered the portobello mushroom fries, House Smoked Brisket Hash, and smoked salmon toast. Portobello mushroom fries (9/10): Our server recommended these as an appetizer, and they were much better than expected. They came with an aioli that made them incredibly tasty. They were on the salty side, and while delicious, the portion felt small for the price. It was essentially two large portobello mushrooms for $20, which felt steep for an appetizer. Still, I rated it highly because I know I'll be craving it later. Brisket Hash (8.5/10): A huge portion that could easily be shared between two people. Everything was cooked well, though the brisket was slightly dry. The eggs and potatoes were cooked perfectly. It's definitely on the pricier side. Smoked salmon toast (8.5/10): Smaller than expected and served on just one slice of grilled bread. For $18, I was expecting at least two pieces. This place is pretty average and overpriced. We were seated outside, about 15 minutes past our reservation time. Our server was nice but it took her a while to check in when we got our food, but to be fair, the place was pretty busy. We were seated in an outdoor fenced off patio area, and it was loud! The mocha was the highlight. My two-egg breakfast was very average, and the chicken sandwich had a disproportionate amount of chicken, making it difficult to eat. Unfortunately while their food is very yummy they are not particularly gluten free friendly. No indications on menus, no GF bread etc.

Unfortunately No. They serve breakfast in the morning till certain hours. I do know that it can be as late as noon but I don't think their menu allows for breakfast anytime after that.

The website says they have a happy hour from 5-6pm....with small bites too
Do they have a parking lot?
Yes, they do but it is small. Make sure you time your visit otherwise you will have to circle the neighborhood looking for street parking.
