I was due for another nail salon visit since visiting K&Q Nail Bar in January. I wasn't really…read morehappy with their lack of service and high prices, so I sought out another salon. I found W Nail Salon -- though the salon is "newer" here in Utah (Yui, the owner, used to have an established nail salon in San Diego), their reviews (a lot of them are on Google) are great. I called the salon, and Yui, the owner answered. I let her know I was hoping to get a mani/pedi done within the next day or so, and she promptly texted me the price list. I chose to do a gel manicure + classic pedicure the next weekday afternoon. I only live about 10mins away, but am newer to the area. Unfortunately there was at least two main streets my GPS directed through that were closed due to construction, and I had to get creative and find my own way around. It felt like it took forever, but I texted Yui, and she gave me some tips. I finally made it and wasn't too late for my appt. I was greeted by Yui and the others in the salon as soon as I walked in, and I immediately felt comfortable. I really liked the salon vibe. It's super clean, and everything is well-organized. I REALLY liked the color selection as well. Yui gave me her color and brand recommendations which no one has really done for me before -- I ended up taking her advice and liking the outcome a lot! Yui directed me to the pedicure tubs, gave me bottled water, guava juice and offered me some sweets which was an awesome touch. What hospitality! Yui was the only person who worked on my hands and feet, and I really loved how she took her time, making sure every detail was right. She is also very gentle and took care not to tickle me too much and used a cool dremel took to trim my cuticles. We talked quite a bit about cooking, travel and the like. It was a really nice time, and she gave me excellent massages. On top of it all, she gave me a bunch of hot egg rolls to take home (you can see in the pic I couldn't wait to munch on some on the way home, and they were good!) The pricing was actually $10 or so less than what I paid at K&Q (for practically the same services), but the service here was way better by far -- plus it's been over a week, and my polish is pretty much all still in tact. K&Q was chipping within days. I will definitely be returning here and hope to sit with Yui again! She is such a fun, sweet person, and I really enjoyed getting to know her!

First off, don't let the older negative reviews discourage you! With new ownership, I definitely encourage everyone to give this place a fresh chance! This was my first visit for a mani and pedi, and I had such a great experience! I mentioned how my previous salon had left my builder gel way too thick, uneven, and not very feminine. They absolutely understood the assignment because my nails turned out SOOO CUTE! Perfectly even, thin, and exactly how I wanted them! What I especially appreciated was how they actively asked for feedback throughout the process, making sure there wasn't anything I wanted to change. Sometimes it can feel awkward speaking up during an appointment, so having them take the initiative to ask was such a nice touch! They were also incredibly transparent about pricing, explaining everything upfront so there were no surprises at checkout. You can tell Ryan and his wife genuinely care about their customers and the business they're building. So happy I gave this place a chance, and I'll definitely be back!

The salon was clean, and nearly all of the staff were kind, welcoming, and attentive. The girls loved the special chairs, and it was a nice touch that they were each given drinks and treats during their visit, which made the experience feel extra special. One thing I especially appreciated was how understanding the staff was when one of my nieces decided she no longer wanted any nail services. They were incredibly patient and didn't make it an issue at all, which I thought was very thoughtful and kind. Unfortunately, we did have one issue with an older technician. While doing my daughter's nails, she was a little rough, and when my daughter said, "Ouch," the technician responded by saying, "It did not hurt," instead of being more gentle or reassuring. She didn't seem very comfortable working with young children, and I think she'd be better suited to adult clients. The biggest concern came when she asked if I wanted gel polish on my daughter's nails. I clearly said no because my daughter is only six years old. I was sitting beside my daughter during the pedicure, and regular polish was used on her toes. However, while I briefly stepped away to check on one of my nieces, the technician applied gel polish to my daughter's fingernails anyway, despite my clear instructions. I spoke with the gentleman at the front desk, and he handled the situation professionally. He apologized, spoke with the technician, and removed the gel polish charge from my bill, which I appreciated. However, I still have to take my daughter somewhere to have the gel removed properly, which is inconvenient. It also made for a slightly uncomfortable conversation while the situation was being addressed. Aside from that one experience, everyone else we interacted with was wonderful. The staff was friendly, the salon was clean, and they did a great job making the girls feel welcome. With better attention to parents' requests and a more child-friendly approach from that one technician, this would have been an excellent visit.
