Great Falls Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Canaan, Connecticut in December 2018. It was founded by Chris Tripler and his business partners. Tripler is an Associate Professor at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts, but he has been home-brewing since 1993. Launching a brewery was a turning point in his life. He chose the name 'Great Falls' after a waterfall formed along the Housatonic River in the nearby village of Falls Village. Tripler and his wife were married at the falls. The location chosen to house the brewery was the historic Canaan Union Station Railroad Depot. The building was constructed in 1872 as a joint effort between the Housatonic and Connecticut Western Railroads. Passenger service discontinued in 1971, and freight service continued until the station was completely shut down in 1974. In October 2001, the building was almost completely destroyed by arson. It underwent a major renovation process before the doors opened again in 2018. I first visited Great Falls Brewing in August 2019. I love all things related to trains and historic railroads, so I absolutely loved the location. Tripler and his team did a fantastic job restoring the space. I especially love how they honored the history of the building and integrated several historic railroad artifacts in the design of the taproom. The sign for the brewery even hangs on a historic railroad signal. Conveniently located next to the brewery is a non-profit museum (Open on Saturdays) that houses several artifacts connected to the history of the station. I took a look around in the museum in between beers and I really enjoyed it. Lots of cool old railroad artifacts! As for the beer, I started off with a sampler flight of four: Strawberry Basil Limeade Gose, Cascadia Farewell (IPA), Lazy Hazy Housy (New England IPA), and Mere Morsel of Delicious Power! (Imperial Stout). The gose was very tart and refreshing, the IPA was a great hop medley, the New England IPA had nice mandarin orange notes, and the stout had some hints of bold coffee. Before leaving, I had a full pour of Happy Camper S'mores Stout. This stout is brewed with cocoa nibs, marshmallow fluff and graham crackers. It tasted just like s'mores and they even garnish the glass with a freshly toasted marshmallow. This beer was my favorite of the whole visit; I purchased a crowler of it to take home. I really enjoyed my visit to Great Falls Brewing! I don't make it to the northwest corner of Connecticut often, but I'll definitely be stopping at the brewery again when I do.

Very chill atmosphere. Good beer and service! Was a very fun vibe when I went on Sunday. They had all the bar seats filled and everybody was happy and listening to good music.

Awesome service and great selection of beers on tap, they even have a great group of ciders to choose from New England cider company too and local wines from sunset meadow vineyard. Plenty of comfortable seating inside or outside on their patio by the railroad tracks. Enjoy!

Great Falls is the place to be! AMAZING brews and friendly staff, there's nothing not to love here. The vibe inside is fun and vibrant- there's plenty of seating: low tables, high tops, couches, not to mention board games, darts, and a little menu of local snacks like truffled chips and charcuterie. In addition, the deck is dog-friendly, and there are plenty of seats and spots to enjoy a drink. The beers are really fantastic. They have flights of 4, and larger pours too. Top favorites include the Blackberry Ale- almost like a sour but milder and light, great summer beer, the Lazy Hazy Houzy and the mango IPA. People love the "jelly donut," a sour, and very good. My husband loves the Housacronic, a triple IPA. You can't go wrong. Seriously, try them all because you won't regret it. Can't wait to come back again and soak up the sunshine on the deck and some great brews! Also- they do lots of events here including live music and trivia. I almost forgot: they even brew their own house-made root beer. It's delish!

this NE IPA is right up there with the best

This brewery in an old railroad station has really good beers and nice outdoor deck area esp for these times. Staff is friendly prices fair. One star off bec they need to upgrade the rather industrial parking lot view from the deck but Id def go back.

A great brewery in an old train station, what more could you ask for? The taplist is always changing and always has a great variety of different styles for any beer drinkers like. Matt the brewer has a love for brewing beer and it shows! Can't wait for the summertime to be able to hang our on the deck with a cold one. Could not be happier for the brewery and the town, has been needing something like this for a long time.

IPA and a wrap from the cafe next door. Great lunch! Really awesome people in this tiny town!

Stopped for a bite and a beer before going to infinity in Norfolk for a show last week…read more Ordered 2 beers, a burger and chicken cordon Bleu flatbread. Beers were the best part ! Food was disappointing. Flat bread overcooked, and mustard was too heavily applied. Fries were awful . Staff was friendly, but service very slow . Offered 10percent off the overcooked over mustard-ized flatbread, or make another one. Due to time constraints I had to eat what I could...which is how I know how bad it was. I feel paying 49$ for the experience was a total rip off. Changing the oil and cleaning fryers really makes a difference in the quality of a fried potato! This was a disappointing experience

The wings we ordered were not the Tai Chilli we ordered but the Jamaican Jerk?. SERVICE; as you have already read, possibly not the cooks fault but our server. Seemed flustered and unsure of daily specials. AMBIANCE; If I thought it wasnt too loud last time, I was wrong. So loud with just other tables talking it was giving me and some of my lunch mates a headache. If you want a quieter area to dine in, I highly recommend the lower level.

Small towns aren't always known for places that make you feel like you've had a night out. Canaan…read moreis charming, sure... but Railroad Street isn't exactly Times Square. And then there's Industry Kitchen. Somehow this place manages to feel completely at home in town while also giving you the vibe that you've stumbled into a great little spot in a much bigger food scene. It's warm, lively, and the kind of place where you walk in thinking "quick bite" and leave two hours later wondering why you don't come more often. The food has gotten better and better over the years, which is saying something because it started strong. The menu now hits that sweet spot where there's truly something for everyone -- great apps, excellent burgers and comfort food, and rotating entrees and specials that actually feel thoughtful instead of like menu filler. On our last visit we rolled in later than the normal dinner rush after a school event. No problem. We shared some of their reimagined flatbreads, a salad, and a few apps and it was exactly what we needed. The wings are fantastic. The bang bang shrimp might require a moment of silence. And the flatbreads are the kind of thing you order "for the table" and then quietly hope no one else notices the last slice. If you've been thinking about trying Industry Kitchen but haven't yet, go. It delivers way more than you'd expect from a quiet little corner of Railroad Street. And if you already go? Go more often. Canaan is lucky to have this place. And your dinner plans should probably involve it. I'm looking forward to trying more of their new pasta creations. P.S. Pro tip: ask them to double cut your flatbread. It turns it into the perfect shareable situation and saves everyone from the awkward "who's getting the giant slice?" P.S.S. Check out their new family tray meals. I hosted an event recently and ordered 2. Really great.

AND We had to go the booth into the back of the restaurant to get our server twice! To ask where our drinks were after we order them and 25 minutes goes by for two sodas and we never saw him come back. It was empty. We were the only people in the dining room. There were three men who were sitting at the bar and had a bartender to service them. Before we left two other couples came in and had the exact same experience as us. One of the other couples had to ask where their food was twice and the couple sitting behind us never got drinks so this is obviously an issue they faced on a regular basis. I don't recommend coming here, not for the food, not for the service, not for anything.
