The salon is clean and organized. The wait time is usually only a few minutes. There is a decent variety of hair products to purchase. Misty is by far the best stylist! Aside from giving great haircuts, she's very fun and pleasant and easy to talk to. read more

Always great haircuts, the stylist are friendly and nice. Very convent right off McCarran and 80, oh they do on line apts is is super easy

I've been going to this location since I moved to Reno 4 years ago and LOVE Trevor, but the last two times I've come here, it's been a disaster. I had a buzz cut that I'm now growing out, but had a stylist a few months ago argue with me about the length of the cut, which seemed silly when my hair was already clearly just a grown out buzz. That experience was not my favorite, but I was still willing to come back because she did end up giving me the cut I wanted, so no big deal! Maybe she was just looking out for me! Today, however, was a completely different experience. As I mentioned, I'm in the process of growing out a really short haircut, so all I wanted was to shave the sides and leave the top to grow out in an actual hairstyle instead of a fuzzy mess. I figured it would be no big deal, but the stylist I had today refused to shave the sides because doing that "makes it look too butch." I'm not overly feminine in the first place, so I was a little thrown off by the comment and felt really uncomfortable about advocating for the cut I wanted going forward. As she scissor cut the sides and back, she made conversation by asking what I did for new years and I responded that my girlfriend was in town and that we'd gone to dinner. She replied, "Oh, how long have you and your /boyfriend/ been together?" Normally I would chalk this up to mishearing and maybe that's what it was, but her tone was pointed and after the butch comment earlier, I didn't feel comfortable or safe correcting her, so I answered the question briefly and asked after her new years. She continued to ask about my relationship and use the wrong pronouns for my girlfriend, constantly mentioning "he" and "him." Again, maybe this was misunderstanding, but it was still a weird tone set throughout. Unfortunately, I don't think I can come back to this location as the experience left me really rattled and I didn't even get the cut I wanted out of it. Super disappointed. read more

I have the world's simplest haircut (all one length, all the way around, no bangs), so it seemed silly to go pay $40 for a haircut when what I needed was so simple (three inches off the ends). So, I walked into Great Clips. I was seen immediately by Andrea, who gave me exactly what I was looking for in about 10 minutes. Staff was friendly, haircut was great, price can't be beat ($14). Definitely recommend for a quick trim. read more

Price is what gets me here all the time, that said, as I take my boys here. That said, for myself, I prefer to go somewhere else. Wish they would keep the best hairstylist! I encountered many through the years in this place, but they always leave for some reason or another. read more

Worst disrespectful hair place in town. Family stopped by today already on list. Place was packed so there was nowhere to sit so I stood outside. Girl inside called my name and instead of waiting a second immediately skipped past me and took another person. Sad thing is I was standing right there. Tried to let her know but she ignored me. While waiting for kids to finish I finally got an apology and it wasn't even from the disrespectful hair dresser that ignored and skipped right past me while I'm standing right there. Where do you find your disrespectful employees from? No respect no business from me. Will never take my family hear again read more

Updating my review to reflect my most recent experience with this Great Clips. I got a coupon in the mail after my son's haircut here, and needing a basic trim figured that $6.99 couldn't be beat for that so I stopped in on a rainy Saturday. Currently, they're remodeling and were pretty busy (the waiting area's ~10 chairs were full) but I was still called up within 10 minutes. The remodel looks like it's going to be nice; they've moved the desk and seem to be repainting/etc. Today, Eva was my hair dresser, and I feel super lucky to have gotten her! She took the time to look through the pictures I pulled up on my Pinterest (I'm too addicted to that site, but see, it has practical uses as well!) and to discuss with me what I was looking for. I ended up having her take off about three inches of yucky ends as it had been way too long since my last cut, and she trimmed my bangs. I ended up with exactly what I came in for, a trim with long layers and cute side swept bangs. She was also super sweet and chatty, but not in an annoying or fake way; just genuinely nice. I will definitely be back for more regular trims and will be sure to ask for Eva next time! Tl:dr- great for my simple trim/style; in and out quickly despite the crowd; cheap and efficient! Yay Eva! read more

when your guy isnt available on a sunday ya come here surprised to see as many dudes in there for 9am, 4 or 5 of us i think the gal who cut my hair was having an off morning or hungover. her communication horrible until time to pay & tip of course but her cosmetology skills were good as she gives great clip have a feelin she doesnt like where she works as i heard the store/salon mgr come by to nag her as she just quickly replied with a yea yea sure cant blame her as dont we all have those moments at work. shes good at her trade and limited social interaction on an early sunday am isnt such a bad thing read more

The good stylists work on the weekends and the so-so stylists work on the weekdays, so on the weekend, it's too busy at this location. Online check-in doesn't help at all. The staff seems to randomly take whoever walks in and knows the staff. When we got there and checked in we were told it would be about 10 minutes. 45 minutes later after I had to ask if it would be much longer I got my hair cut. Using a photo only confuses the stylists. They do what they want anyway. I have much better luck at Fantastic Sams and will use them from now on. read more

Went in today with my boyfriend to get him a haircut and me a bang cut. Last minute decision because we live in an isolated area and we're driving through Reno. We came in and didn't know we were supposed to check in online, which she seemed slightly annoyed by. She signed me up first, then my boyfriend next. But for some reason he still went first, whatever I figure maybe it's because guys hair cuts will be faster? I don't know my hair dressers name which I should have gotten, but I feel that she was sort of condescending to me. I have dreadlocks in the back and have the front of my head with regular hair so I can style my dreads nicer for work and such. I was making small talk asking if she had ever had something like this before and she said "hey even messy dreads have to be neat" and she's "worked on mullets before" which some how correlates to my dreads and bangs in the front I guess. I told her I wanted like a face frame, some how I came out with the hair in front still being longer then my dreads. Which I had specifically said that's why I had came in, because I wanted my hair in the front cut shorter then my dreads. I don't know if she meant for any of these things to come off the way I took them. I had never gotten my hair cut like this either, but usually stylist help you try to pick out a look best for you. She didn't at all and just seemed put off by it. She trimmed by dead ends and asked if that was good. Sense I was put off by her being put off I said whatever. It was supposed to only be 6 dollars for a bang trim, so I figured that's a fine price. Still got charged the full 15 for a full haircut even though it was nothing near a full hair cut. It was the two locks that come down the side of your face in front of your ears, & my bangs. Hence, face frame. Leaving one star because you have to, and the other 2 because my boyfriends hair came out great. I wish I had gotten the girl with purple hair who styled my boyfriends hair. She was also the one who initially checked us in. She seemed like she would have been happy to work with me. But joe came up in there system to go first. Always hate getting hair cuts because things like this always happen. Why I have dreads now. read more

All I wanted was a TINY bit off my hair and the girl cut my hair so F-in short, I'm soooo beyond irritated. Thanks for making my hair ugly and causing me nothing but headache every morning. Incompetent idiot. read more

It's been years since I got a haircut from an actual store, but I got one here, and I couldn't be happier. They were willing to experiment and take their time to get exactly what I wanted, and everyone was conversational and willing to help. Well sad today my barber was outta town so I had to come here . first off the women were good looking not that it mattered just an observation . the girl cutting my hair had to have a more experienced woman "fix" my hair and the whole cut took 10 min a big difference from a real barber cut they used no after shave didn't do side burns or my neck and my taper was sub par go to a real barber its the same price and this place was in a hurry . read more

It was my first time to get a haircut here and I am so pleased with how Jennifer cut my hair. She's one to ask how you want your hair to look like and actually listens. I've gone to a salon that charges $60 and still got disappointed. This is the only one so far where I came home really liking my hair. I am so happy to finally find a place where I can get a really good haircut! Oh did I say I only paid $15 plus tip? read more

I'm getting old so I get to complain. ( you don't have to read lol). Been going here and really have had no major complaints until today. I registered online and the quote was 30 min. I left the house after 20 min and drove to great clips, it is 5 min from my house. When I got there was told the wait might even be longer than 30 min. How would that even be possible? It can not. That would mean that the same people getting their hair cut when I registered were still in the chairs. read more

This place kicked me out while i waited for my sister to get a haircut, because i had my small 4 lbs. puppy sleeping on my lap. She is too small to leave home alone so i take her everywhere i go. And on top of it all, it is 95 degrees outside and i had no car with me where i could sit (id been dropped off). I stood in the heat with my puppy for 30 minutes just for my sister to come out with a bad haircut as well!!!! read more

Usually love this place. Today another man walked in after me, complained about the wait, and then the store manager moved him in front of me in line. Even though we both checked in online. Even though the store is understandably busy due to discount week. Manager just looked at me. Didn't even ask or apologize. Sadly will not return. read more

Under VERY busy circumstances staff today were impressively friendly, upbeat & professional! Got me right in quickly, even in the middle of busy rush. Great haircut layering my long hair with a bangs trim. Thanks Great Clips! read more

I went to get my bangs trimmed and it looked ok at a glance but when I got home I saw that it was awful. I tried to comb it and style it but it was so choppy and uneven that it was hopeless. The middle is significantly shorter than the rest of the bangs and it doesn't look even at all. Even if it is parted to the side to hide the unevenness the choppiness looks awful. I have a birthday celebration this weekend but sine I'm in school it's going to be hard finding the time to go somewhere else to have my bangs fixed. I have never written a bad review, I am pretty easy to please. But this is the worst haircut I've ever gotten. :( read more

We showed her a picture of how we wanted our son's hair cut. Nothing like what we asked for! She literally made him look bald all over! There was no fade or we suggested she use a 2 on his hair. What is the worst is it's almost Christmas time and my 3 year old son will have bald pictures instead of,cute new haircut. She either doesn't care or doesn't know how to cut hair. We won't be returning. read more

What a horrible place all they care about is getting the job done quick and moving on, worst haircut of my life! If I could give this 0 stars I would. read more

I just now got a haircut from Erica and it is just about perfect. My hair is very fine, like a baby's, and it can be hard to cut, but she did a GREAT job! I have been to lots of places that charge a lot more and haven't gotten nearly as good a cut. I now have a new haircutter, yay! read more

Do not go here for your haircut!! I just got my haircut here and let's just say it was a terrible experience! Emily the gal who cut my hair did not want or know how to use scissors for my hair. She literally spent 5 minutes on my cut. She didn't cut the front part of my hair nor ask if I wanted it cut and also didn't bother to show me the back of head when finished. Very poor service! Extremely disappointed! read more

I do not recommend this hair salon, they really messed up on my hair. Very disappointed.

This used to be my go to spot and the only place in Reno that I was able to find someone I trusted to style my hair, which was not an easy task. However my hair stylist Erica M. ended our relationship, due to a conflict in her personal life and because it happened with a friend of mine, she deemed it "inappropriate for me to continue to get my hair styled" with her. Her personal life impacted her professional life in such a way that she now refused service to me and was unwilling to respectfully allow me to talk things over with her. And this isn't the only time I've experienced immature professional behavior at this location. read more

One star is the least I can give. I called ahead the other night asking if they did fades for a men's haircut and the woman on the phone responds in an extremely sarcastic tone with over 80% of our haircuts are men's so of course we do them. So with a bit of confidence that they are able to fulfill my request of doing a fade I went on in. The lady starts cutting my hair saying she has been doing this for a few months now and as she is cutting she changes the blade once to a different length and keeps going up my head! There is no fade whatsoever just two different lengths of hair on the sides and back with a pretty obvious line that isn't blended at all. She shows me and asks if there is anything else she can do and I ask if she can blend it better. She then starts cutting away at the top of the sides and so now my "fade" is looking like something out of the military haircut book. I am shocked at how bad my hair looks and I play it off like everything is ok and let her know she went a little high. A little high is around and inch and a half too high and my hair looks so bad and so disappointed in this. It would have been nice if the woman on the phone at the beginning said we have all new people here who know how to cut hair but not sure what the styles are and how to actually cut them! Thanks Great Clips for the terrible haircut. Side note is I ended up buzzing my hair myself when I got home so it would be all the same length. read more

What a joke!! I walked in here to get my hair cut. The receptionist was very sweet. I asked her who cut blonde hair the best or specialized in blonde hair as I have left this place with my hair cut uneven and jacked up before. The receptionist looked behind her to see who was on staff and as she looked a blonde lady with bright red lipstick and glasses interrupted her and said " everyone here is capable of cutting hair! Can you step aside so I can check people in" and then barged in front of the receptionist and waved her hand at me to move!!! ummm you are extremely rude! Curt and unprofessional! I have not been back to this place because they were not qualified to cut blonde hair even. Apparently I have stayed away for a long time and with just cause!! Wanted to give them another chance... I'll step out of your way rude lady and out the door to a qualified place to cut my hair.. what a joke!! Good luck with this place. read more

Absolutely the worst haircut I have ever had...bar none. I walked out with hair ruined for a month at least. The woman that cut my hair had no clue what she was doing and didn't follow my instructions. Asked her to only cut off an inch and she ended up giving me a crew cut like I was in the military. NOT happy at all. A wasted $15. Needless-to-say, i couldn't leave a tip for poor service. Lesson learned...I will never visit a "Great" Clips ever again. OUCH! I can do a buzz cut myself at home for free. read more
