Jessica retired in December, so it was without question I would return to Eye Candy under the most excellent management of Jacquelyn. She has done an outstanding job of maintaining the high quality service and cool, friendly, atmosphere at what is now Enigma. I really appreciated Jacquelyn's conversation with me and questions on what I wanted, confirming that it was what I wanted and making some suggestions on changes. I really felt like I was coming back home. Working with a new stylist really is a matter of building trust and listening to each other. I went to see Lauren for the first time yesterday, and she is absolutely amazing. Two months ago, a hairdresser in New York gave me a terrible haircut, using thinning shears on my already fine hair, which left my hair wispy and uneven. Lauren completely transformed it. She was thoughtful, patient, and took the time to carefully remedy the situation. She skillfully blended the awkward chunks of layers left by my previous cut and trimmed the ends in a way that added much-needed weight. Recently moving to Reno, my daughter has been looking for a salon to get her hair cut. Unfortunately, Enigma wasn't the place to go. Jacqueline wasn't able to deliver on a $70 haircut. At that price, my daughter should have left with confidence and a smile. Instead she left upset and anxious. Having a kind and sweet disposition, my daughter accepted the haircut, paid and left. She was too embarrassed to confront Jacqueline. Photos and explanations were given, yet nothing was done well. I realize that photos are a guideline, but when the hair looks hacked away and not blended, that's a bad cut. She discussed long layers with Jacqueline, but they seemed to have been forgotten in the back. Nothing really can help her bangs but time. In the mean time, she may have to wear a hat. It's unfortunate when a stylist rushes through a haircut (approx. 30 mins for long hair), charges a large fee and does a bad job. As much as my daughter would like the back layered to match and blend with the front, she will never step foot in that salon again. She's too nervous to have Jacqueline touch her hair again. I can't blame her. I am writing this review because my daughter is too nice to complain. I, on the other hand, think people need to know what they are getting into. read more

I have been getting my hair done here for over a year now, and I am beyond glad I found this salon. My stylist is Jacqueline. Every visit I leave with exactly what I asked for. Great looking hair and wonderful color. My first visit was to get bangs cut in my hair, kinda spur of the moment, I called to see if anyone had and appointment sometime in the coming week. I got very lucky and Jacqueline saw me that same day. They looked amazing. When I decided I wanted vivid color, Jacqueline said no problem! Even when she had to switch brands of color, because I didn't like how it bled out so fast, she listened and we found an excellent solution. I'm so grateful for this place, and especially the wonderful care Jacqueline takes of my hair. read more

I went to enigma for the first time and had Josie as my stylist and I am so very pleased with my hair! The salon is really cute and "homey". Makes me definitely feel like I'm in Reno. I asked to get my previous Balayage dyed all back to my natural color + a subtle money piece in front. Josie made me hair look and feel so great! Do not go here !!!! My stylist was so rude and did not talk to be for my entire appointment. Also charged me for a service I didn't ask for! You also have to pay for metered parking, so consider that when booking. I went in for a root touch up. And she barely spoke a word to me and I was there for so long. And on top of that she charged for a conditioning treatment that I didn't ask for !!! She didn't tell me it was an extra $40 like what ??? What a scam ! The only conversation we had was she said I had dry ends so she's gonna add a treatment. She did not say it costed more, she did not even ask for my permission. She said it as if that's just what she's gonna do. How was I supposed to know ? We didn't even talk about if that was something I was interested in. And then CHARGING ME $40 at the end ?? Wow. Don't go to Sonja for hair color. She wrecked my hair. She did the opposite of what I had asked and then I had to go back and spend another 3 hours for her to 'fix' it and it only made it worse, and I got chemical burns on my temples which took weeks to heal. read more

Absolutely love this salon. I see Jacquline H and have done some fun highlights in the past - pink or purple. Recently I started started stripping the fun colours out for a wedding I attended. I receive so many compliments on the final blonde highlights that came through - including one from another hair dresser. The salon is in a great location downtown. Wow! Josie helped me go from a mermaidy mix of sun-bleached purples, blues and greens to a rich chocolate brown. Did I mention that she achieved this in one sitting? And on fine hair? WITHOUT breakage? What a legend. It took the better part of 6 hours, but Josie was very professional, never rushing through any part of the process. She was also honest about what could realistically be done for my hair and great company through that long appointment. The worst experience of my life. The owner had no idea what she was doing. I only wanted simple highlights. She didn't do a test strand, she used no foils and just slapped the bleach on my hair in chunks, and used no toner. My hair was completely orange. I went back and said that I didn't like it she had the worst attitude about it and tried to blame it on me. She was pretty rude when we came back in and she was reluctant to fix it but finally put toner on it after I asked her to. Her words "it's because you're shocked that's why you don't like it". While my head was in the bowl she said "if you don't like it I don't know what to say". Made my hair 3 different colors. She reached out to me after I left a review saying she can get me in to lighten my hair more and was acting nice but her attitude was completely different in person. This is not an attack on her, I just want other people to be aware of what they're walking into. Moral of the story I spent $200 to walk out looking worse than I walked in. You don't need to reach out to me anymore Jacqueline, you've done enough. read more
