I came in for a simple wash and blow dry and was quoted $68, which felt pretty high for Great Clips, but I agreed and figured I'd give it a chance. Unfortunately, the result just wasn't there. The stylist who worked on my hair was very sweet, but it honestly felt like it was her first week on the job. The blowout lacked polish and didn't look professional, especially for the price. On top of that, there was another employee who was extremely abrasive--almost obnoxious--and came across as unprofessional, which made the whole experience uncomfortable. Between the cost, the underwhelming result, and the overall vibe, this just wasn't a good experience for me. I won't be coming back. read more

My daughter and I just get our hair trimmed. We don't need $70.00 cuts, we don't need layers, we just need trims. It seems these days if you aren't getting layers, colors, extensions, and don't have a full-time "relationship" with your stylist, you just aren't desirable clientele. Well, I'm 40+ and in the throes of my "mom cut" era and my daughter is 8. We are a busy family of four with sports and lots of travel and things to do outside of coordinating with a stylist to beg for an evening or weekend slot. (Can you tell I'm jaded?) Sophia was warm and welcoming from the second we walked in. She was full of pleasant banter and asked us what we wanted. She kept it short and sweet, did a great job, and had fun chatting it up with my kiddo. Sophia even talked her into "windows" as my daughter calls them. (Curtain bangs, I think.) Anyway, I don't tend to review "quick service" places but for anyone looking for an excellent cut without feeling like you are wasting someone's time, check this location out - particularly Sophia. I have been going GC for several years about every six weeks. During that time I had the same stylist maybe twice. Each stylist has their interpretation of the style description I have on file so after each visit the cut will vary. The online check in would be a great feature if had any accuracy to it. I check in online, 24 minute wait time, on my way to the location it went to 15 minutes, when I arrived the wait time went to 44 minutes. I stayed about 15 minutes and watched my wait time increase and decrease. When I left it had been 50 minutes from check in time not inlcuding the wait time when I walked out the door of 18 minutes. I may save a few dollars on a hair cut but my time is more valuable. read more

Several stylists were condescending and passive aggressive. Miguel and Naomi are stylists that I personally went to, and both would instantly become rude, talking down, and insulting when I tried to explain what type of haircut I wanted. It was my first time ever going to a Great Clips so I figured trying to explain what my previous barber does or what I like for my haircut would be helpful. I will never be returning to any Great Clips locations in the future, especially the one on Chandler Blvd due to their attitudes towards customers. I got a pixie cut last year and I have been trying to grow it out forever, I haven't touched it at all and it was finally past my shoulders a little bit but the way it was cut looked funny. I normally go to expensive salons for cut and color but money is tight right now so I'm just still growing it out some more and eventually I'll get some color. I was so nervous to go to a haircut place like this as I know women are pickier with how they like their hair done but not only did FREDI (girl who cut my hair) do an amazing job in giving me the fresh cut that I needed to give me layers but she took away all doubt one haircut places like these for myself personally. She also had AMAZING customer service and just the sweetest ever! Honestly, I haven't been to a Great Clips or any other similar place since middle school but I desperately needed a hair trim today and found myself walking in earlier. Even though I didn't check-in online (didn't know that was a thing!), they were very accommodating and I ended up waiting about 30 minutes, which IMO wasn't bad at all for a walk-in appt. Miguel did an AMAZING job and he was soooo friendly, same with the other gal that was working. $18 for the trim, which is about half of what I spend at my normal place; although this place may be my new "normal" spot for cuts! Giving this great clips a 5 star solely based on Jessica and Aja! If the managers know what they are doing they would keep them FOREVER! Jessica was great greeting us, keeping us updated on wait times and even interacted with my four year old. Suckers and toys? You had him sold. My husband came in to get a hair cut as we were in the area. He hadn't got one in about 6 months and Aja was up for the task. She was great, friendly and we told her exactly what we were looking for and she delivered! She is SO GOOD! So if you look at my review history you'll see I had a bad experience at a "salon" last June/July time frame. So I went back to the basics this time. Yes, it took three months to get long enough to need cutting again.. This particular location is new, recently opened. And they had a great sale, so here I am. My hair shouldn't be that tricky. Just got the worst haircut from the rudest elderly lady ever. She did not listen to me as I told her I just wanted to trim a little off the bottom when I sat down. Instead, she cut me off and said,"Don't tell me how to do my job", as she started cutting the top of my hair off. I started crying and asked her to stop. She said she needs to finish. Now I look like a little boy and do not want to go outside. I hate my hair now. I hate the way I look with it. I look hideous. The way that she cut it made the texture of it change. I missed a meeting at work today because I had to call out. I can not go to work like this. It is cold outside and my neck is cold. Went in because I had a coupon, needed a haircut really bad, and didn't have much time. Was expecting a little clean up, nothing too crazy. I had Amanda and omg, she was amazing! I usually go to my barber, so I didn't think they'd do the line at the part. she totally did! She made suggestions on what I should do, and each one was genius. I have gone to various Great Clips this past year.  Some are good, some OK, the last visit not OK.  Notes in their system and my personal explanation to the stylist said yesterday told her to leave the front alone and keep hair over my ears.  Instead, afterwards, there is no hair - none - covering my ears.  Her first quick cut, before I could say "WAIT," really set the course for the entire cut.  There was nothing to do but let her cut the rest to match.  I do not like their system of putting my name on a "call ahead" list.  There is no way to set an appt with a stylist who has done a good job in the past.  Unable to work with a specific stylist - in my opinion - keeps them from truly listening and taking their time to communicate with the clients.   You're just "the next" person who may or may not come back.  I will look for another salon that takes appts. read more

Just came in last minute to chop all my hair off and get some layers and Freddy was incredible. She was SUPER easy to talk to and trust with my hair. Usually when I come into a great clips it's older staff members who ultimately don't understand the style I'm going for but I was ecstatic to walk in and see someone my age knowing she will get it. Not only was Freddy amazing she was super gentle and told me everything she was doing as she went along making sure I'm okay with it. The shift lead with blue hair ((didn't catch her name)) was hilarious making the environment comforting and inviting. Both of these ladies deserve to be working in a salon in uptown New York or atleast be getting a raise! Will deff be scheduling with either of them from now on read more

This place is hard to find because it is next to the FRONT of the Starbucks. I live in Gilbert and wanted to try the $7.99 haircut deal. I had been to more expensive salons and was not happy paying $$$ for cuts I didn't like - going back was a mistake too. I read some of the Yelp reviews about the Great Clip locations in Gilbert and none of them were very good. I happened to be in Chandler for an errand and feeling lucky, I did a quick Yelp-look around there. The reviews for this location were excellent so I figured I'd give it a try. Although I was a walk-in, I was greeted quickly and pleasantly by Tamara. I told her I wanted the $7.99 deal - I was waiting for her expression to sour, it didn't at all. She was great. She quickly got me to a chair and listened/understood when I said I just wanted a trim without losing much length as I was trying to grow out my layers. Within 20 minutes I had a wonderful trim and was out the door. I am 58 and have had MANY hair styles. Seriously, this was one of the best cuts I've ever had!!! I will definitely go back as long as Tamara is there. read more

I've been going here for years. Usually good but lately service has been going down the drain. I've been getting stuck with this girl Alice who is very depressing to talk to, she's rude and selfish and her work station is never clean, you'd think the least you can do after someone gets trimmed is it at least sweep it out of the way maybe by the chair next to your station since it's not being used and no one is sitting there? But no she has me walking over a shag rug of her previous customers trimmings to get to her dirty station, to get covered by a filthy haircut cape, and then make conversation with you but interrupt you to tell stupid stories like I actually care but at least I gave her the respect to wait my turn to speak, it's not only that but when someone comes in, she has to drop everything she's doing and haul ass to the register to sign someone in instead of just looking up and saying "be right with you" and waiting till your done with what your doing before stopping a haircut when I knew to check in online and normally when I stand up after my haircut I still have hair on my cape because her version of blowing the hair off after my cut is to turn it on on the back of my neck and move upward and turn it off? I leave and have hair on my shoulders by the time I get to the car because she's lazy and can't take 15 seconds to blow the hair off correctly. I tip $5 on a $14 haircut EVERYTIME. I came in for a haircut and the woman who helped me was the Worst! she was in a hurry to cut my hair she made me stand up while she cut my hair, I have never experienced that at any salon. She did not even attempt to wet my hair and cut it dry it came out completely uneven! My hair was down to my waist and now it's down to my shoulders which is not what I wanted. she literally finished my haircut in 5 minutes and I don't know why she was in a hurry there was no one waiting. i should have cut just cut my hair myself because i would have done a better job and i have no experience just like the workers here!
