I haven't been to a salon in 9 years so I was crazy nervous. The ladies there are hella nice and know their stuff. Shaunte is the stylist who did my wash/conditioner and trim. She is also the owner. I have been natural for 2+ years and she treated my hair very well. I was shocked to see how long it really was. She didn't get trim happy either, she only cut about 1/2 inches off and it felt & looked awesome! They get you in and out there is no sitting around for a whole day at Belle Melange. This is a HUGE plus for me! I took my mom there before Christmas and they took good care of her hair too. I am a mama's girl so if you can make her happy, you get major kuddos from me! The appearance of the salon is clean, the restroom is pretty, very spa like. They have nice music playing and there is NO and I mean NO catty mess popping off in there. No drama at all, nothing but good energy. I will not be going to any other salon as long as Belle Melange is in the valley!

Instead of the roller-set look I booked, hot tools and a large barrel curling iron were mainly used, which did not work well for the style I wanted. I even found myself helping/directing parts of the styling because things were clearly not turning out right. This appointment was especially important because I was getting ready for my son's graduation, so leaving unhappy was emotional for me. My hair honestly looked very similar to how I walked in, just styled differently in a way that didn't flatter my cut. For $50, I expected a better result. To be fair, the stylist did ask if there was anything else she could do, but by that point I did not want to continue putting more heat on my hair trying to fix it. I just wish the original service I booked had been executed better from the start. As a woman of color, I personally did not feel confident that the salon had enough experience working with my hair texture or the specific look I requested. I normally do not leave negative reviews, but I wanted to share my honest experience for anyone considering booking a similar service. I showed a picture of how I wanted my hair which was just a grown out balayage. After the toner and wash, I said my hair looked orange. She put me back in the bowl and it wasn't much better the second time. Every time I said this is not what I asked for, my statements were ignored and masked with "it looks soo good!" After 4.5 half hours being in that chair I cried because my hair looked terrible. No one offered to fix it or make the situation better- just collected payment. I could not get out of there fast enough. The technique was definitely not balayage... It was a messy job at highlights. I now have an appointment somewhere for a correction.

At first, I was understanding because all of the stylists were busy with clients, so I didn't mind that no one greeted us right away. What made the experience frustrating was that I actually walked into the salon twice because I had to run back out to my car to grab something. Both times I entered, neither I nor my children were acknowledged with even a simple "hello" or "we'll be with you shortly." The problem continued when one stylist finished a haircut, greeted the next customer , and even offered him a drink without ever acknowledging me or my child. Another customer came in shortly after and was greeted as well, while we continued to sit there unnoticed. To make matters worse, another customer was taken back for a haircut even though we should have been next based on our reservation. I finally walked up and said, "Hi, we've been waiting, and I believe we were next." They asked for the name on the reservation, and after I gave it, I mentioned that a simple hello would have been nice. The response I received was, "I'm sorry, I didn't see you." I honestly couldn't believe that explanation. I replied, "How could you not have seen us? I have two kids with me, and we've been sitting here for over 30 minutes." I was then told that none of the stylists had seen us. The stylists working at the time were Halle and Victoria, and this experience occurred on July 14 at approximately 3:20 p.m. I completely understand that salons get busy, and I would have been perfectly fine with waiting if someone had simply acknowledged us or communicated what was going on. Instead, we felt invisible while watching other customers be greeted, offered drinks, and taken back before us. This was an incredibly disappointing experience and a complete waste of our time. Customer service starts with acknowledging the people who walk through your door, especially those who took the time to make a reservation. I hope management addresses this so future customers don't have the same experience.
