Employees at this location are always so unhappy to do their jobs and then take it out on customers. I have experienced this on multiple visits in the past, so it's clear nothing has changed. I have been shopping at this Sephora since it opened. Today was my last time. After spending thousands here, and several hundred today (2 chanel perfumes) , I kindly asked if there was a sample with purchase today. While the cashier helping me was nice enough, the woman (?) working next to her immediately and coldly "barked" NO! I felt completely disgusted with this shopping experience, and will happily drive further to any other store to even pay more so as not to support this store with my money, or to have such a terrible shopping experience. I stopped shopping at this Sephora a long time ago. A year ago I came in and when I was at the register told all the cashiers and associates how disgusted I was I didn't get help and everyone ignored me. They said they were sorry. A nice African American cashier overheard and said I'm sorry I would've helped you. She gave me a bag of samples. This Sephora is one of the worst I ever been to. The associates are arrogant, rude and ignorant. I went in today to see if they had Sephora eyeliner in stock since it's always sold out online. They didn't have it. Placed an order two hours before closing with four items. They texted my order was ready less than five minutes before closing. I picked up my items and they had given me a product with what looked like sauce and hair/furry hair stuck to it with the seal broken. Turned around to exchange and was told I couldn't until the next day which was a total waste of my time. I was bothered but said thank you and walked out. I was leaving when I overheard the cashiers laughing and talking about me and the situation amongst each other with other costumers around. I can't claim to be big on make up mainly cause uhm I'm lazy, but if I'm going to put something on my face for the large part of my day, well I'm going to make sure it's something of better quality and hence, the hole in my pocket solely dedicated to Sephora. I can always depend on the girls and guys working at the Chandler location to be knowledgeable - I can't thank them enough for the advice I've gotten from them countless times, when I'm at a loss for which liquid lipstick is the least drying, which foundation is going to give me a matte finish, or which mascara isn't going to leave residue on my already dark undereyes (tubing mascaras for the win, by the way). They also offer free little makeover sessions where you can get dolled up and even learn a few new tips as they work their magic on your face. If you want them to do a full face of make up, you'll probably want to make an appointment in advance (given it's the holidays and all) and all you have to do is spend $50 in store on the day of your appointment and they'll do a full face of make up for you for free! I had this done once a few years back and I have some massively hooded eyes that I personally haven't figured out how to work with but Frankie (thank you so much, Frankie!!) did such an amazing job with them that I didn't want to clean it off afterwards. All in all, love Sephora, love the Chandler location. My advice - talk to anyone in the store and they'd definitely be able to answer your questions! read more

Whoever was cashier today. Made my friend and I feel so uncomfortable. We get a decent amount of beauty supplies, almost once a week... We normally go in and have an amazing experience, ask questions and genuinely learn new tricks every time. We asked a few girls to color match my friend. She did an absolutely amazing job figuring her match for the dior collection. Trying to figure out her matching concealer for her skin tone was just baffling.... I even mentioned how heavy it looked on her skin. She just said that's what works best for her and left us be. But let's talk about the cashier... she acted like she couldn't hear me, confused assuming it was just the cash wrap being tall and me not being loud enough... but then i repeated myself Like seven times before she actually spoke to me? Haha what?? I ask to check out and i forgot something to add to my purchase and she acted like i was a huge hassle to even ask. My friend went to check out, with a large purchase. We asked about how many points my friend had... which normally they always tell us right away. the cashier didn't say anything... and then ignored when i asked how many my points my friend had.... My friend and i just looked at eachother confused why she was acting like this. I walked to the side of the cash wrap to kinda wait back so she can buy her items... my friend then asked if she could get a few point prizes, she ignores her and then finished the check out...??? Haha what We asked "wait did you include the point gifts?" She then straight up said ... "you didn't even ask me?!?!" Excuse me We were then just so taken back and annoyed, it kinda put a damper on our whole experience. We adore Sephora, we love all the employees at EVERY OTHER store. visited the store to pick up an online order and while waiting for someone to assist with my pick up order Andi offered to skin match me which is another thing i was meaning to do for an extra 100 points. she explained the process for me and made sure to clean the camera she was using on me. I came to this location and was assisted by a girl who worked there. I told her I was looking for a vitamin c moisturizer because my skin was excessively dry and she picked the most expensive one there. I told her my price point ($50) and she recommended one more expensive than that. I told her I was firm with my price point and then she recommended one that was $55. 50 over my price point but I decided to go for it anyways. Upon check out it rang up as 80. I told the clerk to check with the girl who helped me and the clerk came back after doing so and said there was the wrong label on the shelf. I asked if they would honor the price quoted to me and the answer was no. I understand things happen with mislabeling but it seems this location has no consideration for their customers and only cares about money. I refused to buy the moisturizer. The selling technique of starting high and coming down is common, however I shouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable about my price point AND I shouldn't have to state it more than once. Typical Sephora. I love getting the perfume samples. You never know how a perfume will smell on you until you wear it for a couple hours. This location was very busy, especially for a Friday afternoon. Good selection of hair, makeup, and body care items. I do wish they carried PUR Minerals as Ulta does though! Their cologne is overpriced, that's how these stores make money though so you can't be upset about that! My husband wanted the Viktor and Rolf Spice Bomb. At Sephora it was $140 for a 5oz, I got the 5oz online for $95. I went on FragranceNet.com with a coupon. It was $124 before the coupon. This is a good place if you want to try different things out before buying, also good if you need something asap and can't wait for shipment via online purchase (I'm a huge Amazon fan). I like their membership card and their birthday gifts are always really nice, typically a $20 value. Nice! One thing I most definitely didn't love: I was taking pictures in the store for Yelp. I was told I couldn't take pictures by the lady filling our perfume samples. She said it was copyright. It's not copyright because I'm not doing anything with it. It was a tad irritating, I don't like when people make comments that they're unsure of. Then she said she wasn't sure but thought it was. I'm 99% positive I'm able to take a photo for the Yelp community! I was going to give 4 stars for this, but she was super sweet besides that comment so not too big of a deal. Actually giving more stars because the girl that helped me was so nice and patient as I had some questions about a product but the lady that checked me out was clearly just trying to get off her shift. She was clearly annoyed that we could not find my beauty insider account right away and then upon check out didn't ask if I wanted to cash in on my point. This is a smaller Sephora and it is frequently out of stock. The displays are often not well maintained. That said, many of the employees are very friendly and helpful. I would still recommend going elsewhere to get your makeup done. The woman who does skin prep for make overs is very unprofessional. She abruptly told me she was going to "educate me" about my skin and proceeded to put so much oil on my my make up was literally peeling off me an hour later. This is not my go to Sephora but since I moved to the suburbs, this is my replacement when I need to get my beauty (or skincare) on. Normally I purchase my items through their website but when I need one or two items and wont make the $50 limit for free shipping, I visit a brick and mortar location. The layout of the store isn't my jam. Everything feels cramped and shoved into one space. I often find that items are out of stock or not carried at this location after I get there. During my most recent visit, an item that was listed as being in stock by their website was not and neither was another size option. My only other choice was to buy the more expensive option that was 3x bigger than the size I needed and twice the price. The employees here are very nice. It is hit or miss if I have to ask someone for help or if they will offer help but any time I interact with an employee at this location, it is pleasant. read more

RACIST AND AGEIST. Today my friend and I went in, my friend is darker than me, and immediately we were greeted three times with in five minutes standing at Smashbox and given a basket we did not want nor need. We were in Sephora today because I had just been informed at the Lancôme counter in Macy's that my favorite foundation had been discontinued. I then went to Sephora to see if I could find another similar foundation. Look, I know two 20 year olds swatching and talking would be suspicious at any other store, but considering this is Sephora, it's a normal thing to do. But to continually come up to us, have someone hovering around my friend, and then directly have the manager come up to us is ridiculous. And unfortunately this is a common occurrence for me at this store. To make this worse, I could not even talk to the manager about this, because she was the one who came up to us last which prompted us in leaving. I will not be going back, the Sephora at San Tan mall is much nicer and extremely helpful. I would recommend this Sephora if you're looking to be followed around and continually interrupted. Being a man you would not think that I would rate this place. But, even from my point of view this place is great. Anytime you go in you can try any product you like. You can even get a sample to take home to try. To make sure you like it. You know things you can't try in the store maybe. Shampoo, Conditioner, etc. They have many products for Men and Women. More for Women of course. A really good perk is they have a rewards card ,so everytime you purchase you gather points. Then you start getting free gifts with your points and it changes all the time. Sephora is product heaven. If you can't find what you're looking for at Sephora then maybe it doesn't exist. The one thing that will differenciate one store from another is customer service. This store has the best customer service of any Sephora I have been to and that includes the one inside the J.C. Penny in Gilbert, although they are pretty good there too. I don't have a lot of disposable income so when I need product I try to stock up when I can. Six months ago I went into this store and stocked up and got a mini makeover from a great gal named Andrea. She was awesome!! I felt like millon dollars when I left the store. I like a natural look and that is exactly what I got. I was also looking for some cleansing products and moisteriser for my face. I have to be very careful since my skin is very sensitive but Andrea hooked me up with some great products. Flash forward to today. I'm running low on some product and I had some free time so I went to Sephora. I got some things and was looking around the store when one of the sales people asked if I needed any help. We got to talking and she said, "didn't I help you a while back" and then she told me the products she suggested for me, some of which I had in my basket!!! It was Andrea! She had cut her hair differently so I didn't recognize her right off the bat. Now it's been six, almost seven months since I last saw here and she was spot on with everything! She even remembered me talking about my daughter and asked how she was doing. Now that is customer service!! All the sales people are very knowledgable here. I was asking Andrea about a particular line and she said she researched it on her own. It's a small line and she knew some things about it that only someone that had done their research would know. I knew because I had looked into the line myself and knew a few things too. So if you go to Sephora, go to this location and ask for Andrea! She is awesome and I won't go to any other Sephora as long as she is here. read more

I needed a good under eye concealer....was willing to pay any amount, well under $60 bucks. Thought I would try Sephora. Again. Only because I see how gorgeous friends look wearing Sephora make up. The first time I was looking for a dark burgundy lipstick and liner. I found the exact shade I wanted and asked one of the girls working there " is this lipstick going to stay when I drink or something or will it come off and i will see it on the edge of a glass?" She said "yes it will stay on" Well.. she should have said "no" because I got home and tried it on and took a drink from a glass and the lipstick came off on the glass. Second time I went was looking for the good under eye concealer. I was put on a waitlist. It would be 30 minutes. I came back in 30 minutes. I don't remember his name but the man who tried under eye concealer is on me had blue eyebrows. He tried a few shades on me. And asked what I was going for. Again, going for the 'no more dark circles look' I reiterated. 20 minutes later he passed me to a skin specialist. Her name is Sarah. She tried some kind of skin under eye treatment on me and it burned! She removed it. She tried more treatments. And hour later I picked one of the previous concealers the blue eyebrow guy showed me just so I could get out of there. Her hands smell like cigarettes every time she touched my face with each treatment it was uncomfortable. If you are a cigarette smoker I suppose it wouldn't bother you I am not I found it pretty gross. I'm not judging people that smoke everyone is certainly entitled to have their break and do whatever they want on their break. But if you work in skin care where your hands are in someone's face have more decency to get rid of the smell. I am still not pleased with the under eye concealer I chose or the lipstick. I would take them back but since I was misled previously I feel as if I would just be misled again. read more

Maybe I am over-rating based on my nightmarish experience at Merle Norman but I don't care... I wanted to find a foundation after being abused not 5 minutes earlier... I looked terrible I'm sure. I was told I could wait a few minutes and Yvette (i think?) would help me. So after what felt like forever (probably maybe 10 or 15 mins) she kinda invited me to take a seat and I told her what I needed. She picked a few colors and said she could do my whole face or just match me. Since I was so depressed about my other experience I said What the heck, go for the whole face!!! She was funny and nice and very outgoing. Exactly (IMO) how a customer service/cosmetics type person should be. I was so happy at the end of this experience... My face looked really pretty, I LOVED the colors! She listened to what I wanted and was really knowledgable and had a gentle hand. That said, would never wear that much make up (although it did look pretty) and when I got home the color still wasn't what I was looking for but I would go back in a hear-beat. Sephora and Yvette saved the day! I'll definitely be getting the all the colors she tried on my eyes, lips and cheeks... GENIUS! Back to MAC for the foundation though... I regret ever straying. This Sephora is not my favorite. Stopped by because I was in the area and needed to buy makeup. The store is small and not laid out like other Sephora's I've been to. I noticed they were low in stock or out of stock on a lot of items. They also didn't even carry certain items that other Sephora's do, which they said they could order the items for me, but that just seemed like more work than was necessary. The worst part of my experience was when I was checking out and the cashier told me I had 700 beauty insider points. I started looking at the 500 and 250 point items and she said I was only able to choose from the 100 point items. I just said never mind and didn't ask- but I'm assuming they probably didn't have the higher point items in stock? I'll stick to shopping at the fashion square location. read more

What a nightmare! I have never been in a regular Sephora store, and was interested in exploring. The store at Chandler Mall was just awful. The store is really tiny and tightly packed. It was filthy dirty, and so loud that I couldn't ask a question without yelling. Absolutely worst of all was the staff. They were incredibly rude. I was astonished. On top of being rude, the makeup being worn by most of the staff was disturbing. And I don't mean in a cool, edgy way. I mean in a hooker from hell way. What a mess. Living abroad you get used to aloof and apathetic customer service. This location is has been my go-to every time I return to Phoenix to see family. On this particular occasion, the customer service blew me away. I was in to exchange a faulty product I received as a preset a few months ago (we don't have Sephora in the UK), and also purchase some skincare items for my sister. While I usually know my way around the store and products, I took one of the associate's offer for help with all natural cleansers for sensitive skin. She also demonstrated the nifty product look up tool at the back of the store that you can review all the key ingredients and client ratings (similar to what you see on the site). When it came to checking out, this is where it became a little complicated. Since I was doing an even exchange for a gift item without a receipt, I had to provide ID. Problem is I didn't have any of my US ID with me, and only had my British driver's license. The associate was patient and worked with it, and when it failed she looked for other ways to complete the transaction. With the phenomenal customer service we received that day, I was able to exchange the faulty item that I had received as a gift, bought a couple great cleansers for my sister, and a bunch of other goodies. Sephora seriously needs to return to the UK... but for now the Chandler location is golden in my book. read more

I love this Sephora location now the same can't be said about my previous experience at this same location with the old manager; Marie on the other hand is an angel in comparison, she has helped me on numerous occasions. Also most of the reps with attitude have left so that works too. Because of my past experiences here I had been shopping more online and now it's kind of hard to get back into the store because I've gotten used to shopping online and getting all the free samples and ebates reward points. I prefer this location of Sephora over the Scottsdale location. The Chandler location is less busy and more spacious than the Scotts location. When I first started going to this location I thought it was great because the staff was way more helpful and willing to give out samples. I am now finding the staff to be a bit annoying. They are great, but everytime I look at something they come over and ask a lot of questions or try and steer me to buy a particular product. It gets a little annoying to have the Bare Escentuals Smokey Eyes pointed out at least three times every time I'm in the store. All and all I love Sephora no matter what location! It's heaven on earth for most of us gals. Yes the products are pricey, but they are quality products you can't get at the drugstore. Hmmm, this review must sound confusing. Here I am saying I prefer this location, but then complain about how overly eager the employees are. This location isn't as snooty as the Scottsdale location and the employees are friendlier. read more

Women have it easy. Every department store, every makeup store, every big box carries a million and one skin care products for women. And most of them employ at least a couple people who can lead you to the right products. Men? Men are screwed. You're lucky if a store carries the crappy crap Gillette's hawking as skin care and shaving cream, never mind having someone who can say "You should try this." Enter Sephora. Despite having a teeny tiny corner of the store dedicated to men's products, and the ratio of male to female customers being probably 1:1000, they're great if you're a guy who doesn't want to look like shoe leather. I first visited this location about a year ago to grab one product, and ended up getting some great advice and a ton of samples from one of their staff members. She was exceedingly familiar with the men's lines, and with skin types, and the product she thought I'd like best ended up being the one I returned to buy. I've returned a couple times since and always had excellent, attentive service. Heck, today I waited in line for all of two minutes, but one of their "beauty consultants" (but I want to be ruggedly handsome!) materialized out of nowhere with a peace offering of samples and an apology. And then I got more samples and more apologies at checkout. They had the cashwrap fully staffed and were moving quickly; there was nothing to apologize for, but they did anyway. read more
