    Beautiful cut by Renee!

I had the most amazing experience today at this salon. Renee cut my HH wig, which was very long. This was very scary to me because obviously alternative hair does not grow back. She handled it so professionally, and with confidence. It was amazing because not for one minute did I feel nervous as soon as she started cutting, I could clearly see that she knew what she was doing , the piece came out beautiful and I will be going back to have Renee cut several more pieces. On top of the fantastic cut, she is sweet, and made me feel very welcome and comfortable. Awesome personality on this pretty young lady! I just can't express the happiness today finding this salon, and especially finding Renee! So grateful to her!

Maj Salon deserves every last 5 star review ! I used to have a stylist who was my go-to, however, about 5 years ago he moved away. The hunt for a new stylist began and for FIVE YEARS I have been searching and for FIVE YEARS I had horrible haircuts. The previous stylists never listened or really gave 2 cares about what I had to walk around looking like when I left their chair. Jovanna literally took every last detail into consideration and nailed it! She clearly loves what she does and it shows in her work! When Jovanna turned me around to look at my hair, I honestly almost cried because it has been SO LONG since any life was put into my hair. Every single person who walked out of the salon, from any of their talented stylists looked like a million bucks. The salon is clean, classy and what was unique was EVERYONE was chatting with each other as if they have known each other for years. 5 star experience through and through.

Haircut is a little too stacked (deep layer) but Kam's highlight #1 was well done and very subtle for step 1 as we discussed.

Wow, after going to this salon for several months - hung in there - I can relate to all the bad reviews, and I won't cover ALL my complaints but will hit the "highlights" (pun intended) to protect others from awful treatment, double charges for excess color and cut for long hair (mine's at collarbone) etc. Not friendly, protect their own, blame he customer for everything from a stylist's botch job to saying it's my poor hair care and fast gray growth - not their lousy color product - that washes out in three weeks for someone who only washes 3x a week. I told them I used to spend $8 for box color that lasted a good 6 weeks, and my hair was very healthy and the "stylist" (me) was on time and didn't give me rude treatment. They could care less about your budget, or your plans for your hair. I'll summarize here to save you, and if you want more detail, go on. Pics tell the story - **see captions, not in the right order.** Pics 1-2 - First highlight was gorgeous though I wanted a little more highlights by the face the next time. That was Kam's plan actually. Even in the sun - beautiful brown hair with complimentary warm highlights that didn't look harsh or too red. Pic 3 - Peyton was asked to go by the notes and take the highlight to the next but still subtle level. She heavily highlighted the "mohawk" portion of my head - outer layers, not deeper, and not anywhere else. My husband knew I spent $250 and loved Kam's first one, but said this was so disproportionate and too light. Maj's answer was first denial that Peyton didn't follow the notes, and then told me I needed to remember that they were just helping out while Kam was out (so take what I get, or they weren't held to any standards??) Pic 4 - since, they've been heavily toning my hair to where the highlights are about gone, the hair has a red outer layer but is just brown, I have a 3" dark base touch up strip with part in middle now (5 weeks) and it meets the old reddish more multi tonal hair, plus as many times as I've told Kam I HATE my widow's peak, she's shrugged me off and this time, my widow's peak is for sure what stands out - in addition to her and another jr stylist styling me and leaving me $150 later to try to wash the bad stains off my temples myself!! UNACCEPTABLE to anyone! I saw Kam slathering that on my face but figured she had a remover and would take care of it. I took this as a passive aggressive slap - protecting their own - and here's another indication of that. Knowing I have a desk job - Kam complained 4x about people taking stimulus $ and then said, "No one wants to work. Everybody just wants to sit behind a desk." RUDE....it was the final straw of how she treated me all along. My mom and sis used to joke and tell me to go take my beating every time they knew I was going to this salon. My husband hung in, too, for a while. Read on for more, but unless you just keep your mouth shut, let them do what they want, and be willing to bend over on price and double charges - and be ok with lateness, mix ups on time allotment, and having juniors do your hair to bail her out on overbooking, stay away and don't let the family/friends phony great reviews suck you in and make you stay as long as I did! When i went to Maj to reverse a botched Peyton highlight (Kam was on maternity leave), she was sweet at first and then called me a liar, and the three accused me of ruining my own hair when Peyton decided to light up my crown with a mass of highlights. I hated it so much from day 1 that three weeks in when all faded and got even lighter, I used an Aveda plant based anti-brass product for darker hair so not to face the embarrassment of having a family member visit and see! They protect their own, and you're dead at that point once it's known you're not happy, and so I decided I'd be an idiot to return there for today's appt. - $250 later. Nope. Oh, as has happened multiple times, I was supposed to get a cut, base color and highlight today, and per typical, ever since the first good cut and beautiful highlight she gave me, Kam only has me down for a touch up.....horrible time manager, overbooks and has jr stylists doing my hair, makes me wait etc. The base only appt. and no highlight after almost 3 months also shows you the overcorrection plan going on since my highlight was botched. They've been putting toner on it while denying anything happened, which means I have no highlights, monotonal darker hair but with a red outer layer - everything I did for $8 and had healthy hair with color that lasted 6 weeks!

This is what my "bright red highlights" look a month later, after being bleached and colored w/"non-fading" products. Colors of the rainbow

WOW! After my review I started getting harassed through Yelp by a couple of people who clearly have some affiliation with the salon. One of them registered just to send me harassing comments through Yelp, she has no other reviews. Now they are telling me I just wanted something for free and what a dishonest, unethical, and dumb person I am... Not sure how smart these people are because attacking me directly is not gonna help the salon one bit, my review thread is just gonna get longer... They dug through my profile and found a one star review for PCH and told me in their nasty comment that I want to "stiff businesses and am a horrible customer". I paid you for the crapy service, didn't I? I SPENT A YEAR living in doctor's offices and different children's hospitals as my 8 year old son went through 9 eye surgeries and still went blind in one eye so I think I have the right to leave a review on a children's hospital. WHAT RIGHT DO YOU HAVE TO PERSONALLY JUDGE ME?! At least, I write my reviews as me and don't hide behind a fake Yelp profile. So why don't you GROW A PAIR and comment on my review publicly as a salon owner or a salon employee? I have the right to express my opinion about my experiences without being harassed! This is ridiculous! Beware of this place! If you don't like it you'll get harassed and put down! Here is one of the nasty comments I got, others talked about my character, my other reviews, and my profile line, which is from a movie, hahaha. Someone tried to imply since I said "I like money too, we should hang out" means that I always try to get something for free, I'm a horrible person, and don't want to pay for anything. Here is one of the nasty comments I got... "I find this comment totally a hoax..I have been going to Maj's salon for several years now and I have black hair and vibrant red highlight, she uses matrix products which don't fade...Maj always has to bleach my highlights before she puts the red in my hair otherwise you won't be able to see the red..It is really sad how you would try to put such good people down ,that treat you like family.Me and my friends always go to Maj'a salon and the service is amazing ,the prices are are also unremarkable.Sounds like to me you are saying you just want things for free and your passage sounds really dumb to be honest, because I have the exact same color highlights and have never experienced what you calm...MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY USING PROPER SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER FOR YOUR HAIR AND NOT CHEAP STUFF,BUT AGAIN. YOU WOULD PROBABLY WANT THAT FOR FREE TOO ,BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU WANTED YOUR HAIR FOR FREE.I THINK THE FIVE STAR REVIEWS SPEAK FOR ITS SELF..YOUR COMMENT IS DISCUSSING AND UNETHICAL"

Not a true black hair salon. Limited services for black hair styles. Although there is a black stylist, she only does certain services.

I have thick curls and need alot of attention for my hair and I was pleasently surprised with the service. Since it was my first time here, i was a bit skeptical with the styling (there are so many, so i left it to the stylist to choose for me, seeing the texture of my hair and my face cut!) I was also pressed on time as my appt ran late.. but the stylist did an excellent job and it looks like my hair got a make over! I ended up purchasing their monthly offer and I already know it'll be worth it! The place is perfectly located and easily accessible and the indoors, its just cozy comfy and adorable! We checked in and I liked the vibe. I've never been to a Drybar since I'm comfortable curling my hair by myself but my cousin wanted to treat us. I already took a shower and washed my hair so I told my hairstylist, Hailee that I just needed it curled. There are laminated printouts of different hair styles you can choose from and you can even combine some styles, just explain it to your hairstylist. I told Hailee a couple of the styles that I wanted, that I wanted volume on the top so if she could tease the back and to start off with the big barrel curling iron. I told her my hair falls after the night but since it's a drier climate with less humidity, I'd see how it would do tonight? She said she'd dry-style it since I didn't need a wash. My cousins had a wash and style. Hailee started curling my hair after removing some tangles but didn't use any styling products like mousse or spray? I thought using a hot iron on your dry hair is a no-no?? I let her do her thing and when I noticed it wasn't holding the curl and that I knew it wouldn't for the long night, I asked her to switch to a smaller barrel. She was able to curl it albeit dry again w/o styling products and then got to the teasing part. She used a thinner brush and began teasing but it wasn't looking good and looked lop-sided. I mentioned that shouldn't she use hairspray then tease it to give body? That's how other hairstylists begin in my experience. When she saw I wasn't happy, she asked for a woman named Alicia. Alicia introduced herself and said she was a Master Educator so she showed Hailee what to do. I told her I had fine hair and she assured me she'd make it look nice and that she understands my hair as it's like the texture of her mom's. By the time Alicia was involved, my cousins were already finished. I looked at their hair and they all looked nice. I ended up using the curling iron myself and fixing the left side so it had a rounded curl with volume esp. since I have long hair. I took the hairspray and showed her that I needed to spray it underneath. I sprayed all over to set it and was on my way. Hailee only has over a year experience so I get that she's still learning. Just note that if you want something professional, request an experienced stylist. After all, you're paying for it. Hailee was polite and professional and so was the rest of the staff.

I explained that I have pink extension hair pieces attached to a hair tie and wanted to know if they could be braided into my hair for an upcoming event. I was told this would not be a problem and was instructed to book a braid service online and add an extension. I was also quoted a price of $48. When I arrived for my appointment, the stylist informed me that she had never worked with this type of extension before and that they typically only use clip-in extensions. While I truly appreciated her willingness to try and her kindness throughout the process, it was clear there had been a miscommunication with the call center. I would have preferred to be told ahead of time that this was not something the salon was familiar with, rather than proceeding with uncertainty during the appointment. Additionally, I was ultimately charged $65 for the service. At no point during the appointment was I informed that the price would differ from what I had originally been quoted. Being charged a higher amount without prior notice was frustrating, especially given the circumstances. Again, the stylists were very kind and did their best, and I appreciate their effort. However, the experience overall was not what I expected due to the miscommunication and lack of pricing transparency. I've written to your business when I was texted to review my experience and I've yet to receive any kind of response or reconciliation of the issue.
