I needed a hair style last minute (same day), wishful thinking I know. I didn't plan it because I thought I wanted to do my hair myself. I called around and no one even teased the idea of trying to take me in but Maj did! Not only did they make it happen on a busy day and with a call out but when I got there everyone was so friendly and happy to see me! From Gina at the front desk to Kristen the stylist that helped me to Maj the owner, it felt like I was going to a friend's house. The atmosphere was so fun and the music choices were awesome too not to mention the place was sparkling clean. Everyone said hi to me and I waited no more than a few minutes before Kristen came and got me. Kristen was so sweet and communicative in what I needed done to my hair. She styled it exactly as I wanted and I was so happy with the way it looked! I will definitely be going back (with a planned appt. of course haha). This was my first time a Maj's Salon. As soon as I walked in I was warmly welcomed and asked if I would like some water. The owner and front receptionist are extremely nice and attentive. Rachel Sester did a beautiful ombré balayage! I also had a very hard blunt step to my layer done to my hair from a different salon. Rachel was able to fix it and blend that layer so it has more body and fullness. What I also love about Rachel is she gets real with you about the hair process, she is realistic and she is extremely capable. Love love this salon! read more

Just moved here and heard good things about the salon so I gave it a shot. My stylist was fine but didn't seem too confident/experienced. I did need some color correction so expected to pay a little more. Well, I paid way more! Even higher than Toni and Guy, if you can believe that. I was told they always quote the high end "just in case" and yup, I paid the high end price. In talking to my new neighbors I could've gotten what I wanted for at least $60 less at other salons.The color is ok but not the level I wanted. Compared to my gal in Florida who was a master at coloring (for less cost) I was disappointed with this salon. Overall, I feel it's overpriced for average service. Won't be going back. read more

Facebook kept mentioning Maj's Salon so I made an appointment and so glad I did. I met with Renee, awesome stylist! She has been a stylist for many years and even teaches at a salon school. I will say the staff was great, however I called to schedule an appointment for my 10 year old daughter explaining she has coarse thick hair and she wants layers and curtain bangs. I will say she loves her hair cut. What I have a hard time with is the price I paid for my 10 years old hair. It was 60 before tip. All they did was wash, cut and blow dry. When I called they said her cut cost 25 and I expected to pay extra because I asked her to curl her hair. Which no they didn't curl her hair they simply blow dried it. They said it was 60 because it was "styled" and 10 dollars extra for length. I have a hair dresser I go to who has been in the business for 15+ years and would cut blow dry and curl her hair for less than that. This salon was comparable to like a Arizona hair company at best. I won't be bringing my daughter back there. Please be honest about the prices I walked in expecting to pay 40/45 dollars not 70. I pay that for my hair as an adult. They did a decent job but unfortunately I won't pay 35 dollars for someone to blow dry her hair. read more

Excellent salon! It has been SO long since we've been able to find a salon that heard what we needed and followed through with the expectations. First of all, I need to mentioned that as I write this, we are in the midst of the Coronavirus. The owner, Maj, was there and she was disinfecting EVERYTHING every SINGLE time someone got up from a chair, touched anything etc. She was making sure clients felt comfortable being there during this trying time. We really appreciated that. As for the hair cuts, I had Payton. She was wonderful. Did a fantastic job with giving me a long "bob cut" and layering. I always have a challenging time finding someone who can layer; she knows what she's doing. Cam did my SO hair and he was pleasantly surprised with how well she listened to what he needed. He had badly botched hair for numerous people in the past. We enjoyed talking with the owner who told us that she is very particular with the stylists she hires and we could tell from speaking with her, she really loves her job and takes pride in her work. I have been here a few times now and have had a great experience each time. Jessica and Maj have both cut my hair and both did a fantastic job. They always get me right in, the longest I've had to wait is probably 5 minutes. Everybody is super friendly and goes out of their way to be helpful and considerate, not just to the customers but also to their coworkers--I have seen girls sweeping each other's stations multiple times without being asked. They take their time to make sure my haircut is straight and blended well so I don't have to be put in the awkward position of coming back and asking them to fix it (which I've had to do multiple times at more 'upscale/expensive' places--not fun!) Overall this place is an amazing value and I will definitely keep coming back! read more

I am beyond disappointed with the hairstylist listening to my needs and what style I had envisioned and never received. I had my hair grown out, ready to do an angular bob (I used this exact term) style and what I received was nothing but a layered head of hair. I'm kind of pissed but I always say hair grows back. But this was a cut gone bad, nothing I even asked for or the hairstylist and I discussed prior to cutting. Per our discussion she was suppose to cut my bangs so they'd swoop at my cheekline, now they sweep at my eye. However, what we discussed I was on board with so this basically tells me I got a hairstylist that didn't know how to achieve the cut I asked for and we discussed or just doesn't know how to cut hair. Then blow drying my hair I was turned away from the mirror. That was nervracking as I couldn't see how it was turning out or how she was styling it. Come to find out my hair was blow dryed with a bristled roller brush and that's how the beach curls got in my hair, but they looked like I put my finger in a light socket instead. So basically what I got is a high maintenance haircut that I need to put beach waves into to make it look decent. Well, maybe that's not the case now, now that I did my hair for the first time. Because I have a few places with a cowlick this hair cut DOES NOT work with my head of hair. You don't ever put layers into hair with cowlicks unless you want it looking wavy in some places and straight in other spots. Apparently showing images of how you want your haircut is not their specialty. Kamissa commented "This is how I see you on the beach" since we discussed I was heading to the beach. I recently tried Maj's Salon for the first time and I have to say I was really impressed by the salon itself and the staff. Jovanna was my stylist and I feel really lucky that I got her. She really took her time to listen to what I wanted, showed me swatches and pictures to make sure she understood and then double checked her estimates to give me as close of an estimate on the price as she could. All of this before she even got started. I loved that! The other stylists in the salon all spoke to me at some point, welcoming me and greeting me as well. It really is a family environment there which by default, just makes it a cozy and comfortable place to be. All the staff helped each other out and you can tell they all care about each other. No catty behavior or anything like that at all. As for the finished result, Jovanna did an amazing job & I loved it! The price was more than I usually spend on my hair, but due to Jovanna's consideration, I knew beforehand what I was getting into. No surprises! We love Maj! My mom and I only go to her salon and we always have a great experience. I prefer to do very little with my hair and Maj always leaves it looking fresh without that boxy newly-cut hair look. I currently live in Chicago, but I wait until I'm home to see Maj for my hair. My mom has seen a few of the other stylist who work in the salon and has really enjoyed everyone who has cut and colored her hair. It always comes out exactly how she wants it. Two of my older preteen daughters have always had really long hair so they have not had many visits to a salon. As they get older, they are starting to want different hairstyles and talking about color. I figure it was time to find a salon that they trust before they make those decisions and walk out with disasters. My long time stylist was not going to work due to distance, limited hours and scheduling. My one daughter with hair past her butt, finally made the decision she wanted to get her haircut. It was causing her head pain being active in sports. A salon stuck out in my head because of the suggestions on the Nextdoor app so I decided to see when I could get in ASAP before she changed her mind. I went online and was able to schedule an appointment for the next day. Whoa...not used to that - bonus! She was set up with Renee who was as sweet as could be. She listened to my daughter on exactly how much she wanted cut off (7 inches) and my daughter was so happy with the cut and curls when she walked out. Everyone in the salon was so friendly, even the clients were striking up conversations. What everyone didn't know and why I'm writing the review, is what it meant to me and my daughter that she walked out with a smile. No one knew that we were outside the salon for 15 minutes with tears and a panic attack. No one knew that I had to lie, say a friend knew Renee and that is how I found the salon. That we went through every hair picture online for the salon so she could see their work. My daughter suffers from severe anxiety with ANY change. As silly as it sounds to others, her hair was one thing she could control and was a security blanket. The fact that she made the decision shocked everyone but her making it in the chair and leaving with the smile was even better. To go even farther, my daughter asked a week later if she could see Renee again and get more cut off. We made an appointment and she cut another 5 inches off. It may have been just a haircut to others but it was much more to us. My oldest decided to go with her this time for a cut with Kam and walked out with a smile as well. She was convinced she would say trim and walk out with a bob. Kam was great and she loved her. All she did was run her hands through her hair all night and say how silky her hair felt. Long story short, we found our salon and you never know what kind of impact you have on someone's life. When it comes time for me to switch, I'll be right there as well. read more

I've never been much of a "make a hair appt" or "keep a hair appt" kind of girl until the day I stopped into Maj's Salon on the way home from work. It had been a long day of fighting with my frizzed out, unruly, non-side-sweeping, side swept bangs and I was hoping that somebody, anybody in the salon could do a quick bang trim for me so that I wouldn't go home and try to take a crack at them myself. My hair is thick and has a mind of it's own so that could have been disastrous. Luckily, Maj the sweet, fun, and talented owner was willing to squeeze me in for a quick walk-in appt. She expertly cut my bangs into the perfect side sweep and I knew from that moment that I had found my new salon. From colors, to cuts, to tips on styling, Maj and her team are amazing. I can't say enough great things about this salon. I called as a new client and got in w/in an hour on a Saturday. I didn't know any of the stylists so Razan got stuck with me and my request for a new pixie haircut. This gal exceeded my expectations! Her suggestions and talent are exceptional and that's not even mentioning her bright personality. Also, on the plus side, she does razor cuts!!
