Decided to check out Gilbert yoga during a recent trip. The instructor was very informative, and helpful. The session I did was more slow long holds that multiple flows which was the first time doing this type of yoga. They have a lot of props and cushions to use to make sure you're supported during the class. If I'm in the area again would definitely come back! read more

I love this studio! I've taken yoga in the past and I had to leave my last yoga studio because of moving to a new location. I honestly picked this yoga studio because it was closest to home so I figured it would make it easier for me to get to the classes. This yoga studio is full of kind and caring yoga instructors willing to work with all levels of yoga, from someone who has never taken a class to people who are learning to do more advanced poses... they are all very encouraging and detailed in their descriptions about what needs to be done done. I started off taking one or two classes a week and now I have an unlimited package and I attend classes six days a week. If you've never taken yoga before it's important to know that not only will your body be challenged but there's also a lot of stress relief and relaxation that you get from taking a yoga class also, which personally makes me enjoy this even more! I started taking Pilates at Studio that I will not mention at the same time I started taking Yoga here and I had a completely different experience there, for example the instructors were not encouraging at all, and the classes were not challenging for me whatsoever. Every time I took a class there I felt like I was wasting my time and an uncomfortable atmosphere, so I'm sure you can understand after experiencing that type of situation how blessed I feel to have found Gilbert yoga. Even if you've never taken yoga before and you're not a flexible person (I'm not naturally flexible at all) give this place a try it will transform you in a positive way that you would never expect. read more

I started going to Gilbert Yoga 5 weeks ago since I was about 20 weeks pregnant. Was so glad to find a yoga studio super close to my house who teaches prenatal yoga ‍ They also have a bike rack right outside of the studio. So I bought a e-bike just to ride to my yoga classes. Mary, Heather, Amanda and Jen are all amazing teachers! So far I have attended all their classes and loved my experience with all of them! I've made going to yoga classes my daily routine and I've been feeling great about it. The classes help me to relax, meditate, feeling motivated and finding peace in myself. So far I'm planning to keep attending these yoga classes until the day I give birth. And I know I'm gonna feel much more confident during birth. And probably a faster recovery afterwards too. The best yoga session is here ! I love the relaxing class that I took, which is more on my level because other classes are more of a work out. The class that I attended, was more about resting your soul, mind and body while getting your body to wake up. The teacher was amazing and she didn't walk around pointing people out, which, I loved. She allowed people to go with what works for them. Loved it!!! I'll definitely return for future sessions. I was the only one wearing a mask but, I was comfortable doing so, since I'm overly cautious with everything going on in this virus world. My only concern was although, they have plenty of blankets and props... the sanitizing of them, was concerning, since we returned them to the location where we picked them up from. I love this studio - not pretentious at all. I've tried other studios like Yoga Six that feel more like swanky gyms than yoga studios. Gilbert Yoga is calming, inviting, with a number of different classes and monthly workshops. Instructors will meet you where you are with your practice. I generally take slower paced classes and workshops (Yoga Nidra, Sound Baths, restorative) and have always had a great experience. The tactics used to sign people up for memberships are PREDATORY. I was 8 months pregnant with my first child when I signed up for what I thought was 8 classes, when in reality was 6 months of 8 classes. I certainly can't commit to 8 hours of yoga a month as a first time mom, when I'd have to find someone to watch my baby, and there aren't enough classes that I can bring my baby to make it worth while. After I had my baby, I called and kindly asked for my membership to be canceled or even lessened, explaining that the membership was not made clear to me. I was, rather rudely denied. I called again, a month later, and was met with an extremely rude attitude. I was gaslit and finally hung up on. I was more firm in my request, but still polite, asking for a cancellation or even a 4 class membership. I was denied both requests IMMEDIATELY. I was told that I was wrong, the membership was in fact made clear to me. I was called a bully and basically was told off. She tried to sell me on how great yoga is instead of listening to my problem. I really wanted to continue attending classes, and made that very clear. I was met with a rude and condescending tone and even told that I am asking the owner to "help me manage my own life". Rather than being met with grace and kindness or even a sliver of understanding, I was spoken to in a horrible manner. As a new mom of a one month old, I was hoping for understanding, not to be manipulated and taken advantage of. Especially by an owner of a yoga studio, a practice that communicates positivity. I have brought friends and would have brought more but I will no longer be doing that. This studio doesn't care about people, only the money in their pockets. read more

This is my FAVORITE yoga studio. The teachers have the spirit of yoga. It is a welcoming place, non-competitive, and true to the true practice of yoga teaching several kinds of yoga. I appreciate this place so much. Many yoga studios are just exercise classes or they seem competitive or elitist or do not teach to "honor your body." Gilbert yoga is true to The TRUE PRACTICE OF YOGA. I love it! After going to India and experiencing amazing gurus, I returned to realize that this studio really had the spirit of yoga. Easily the best yoga studio I have been to and I have been to quite a few. Full disclosure, I started going to yoga and studying with Cassandra (now, NIschala) about 8 years ago. She is one of the main people at Gilbert Yoga. For me, it is her voice in my head telling to "create an inner spiral", "tuck my tail bone", and "take your practice off the mat". It was her great guidance and care that got me REALLY into yoga. It was her enthusiasm that helped me unlock some really great things in my life. So I am biased, sue me. If that is not enough of an endorsement, keep reading. The teachers at Gilbert Yoga are awesome. Nischala, Ingrid, Diane, etc. All wonderful. They are helpful to beginners and very knowledgeable and encouraging to those moving along the path. The space is great. The vibe is wonderful and I always leave classes with a big buddha smile on my face. I take as many people as I can to this studio. I even took my dad and brother. They were visiting from CA and we went to a Friday morning "power yoga" class. Oh man!! Two big buys (my bro and dad are both over 6 foot 3) who love beer and meat and football....doing hand stands on their first try. Unbelievable!!! I laughed for like two weeks. They don't practice yoga, but they totally "get it". They told everyone at our family events how they "went to yoga". Dude. Hilarious. There are so many great things about this studio. Specifically, I have been taking the prenatal yoga class with Tina Marie and I think she is an angel on earth. She is very kind, informative and has a gentle spirit. No matter your level of yoga expertise, she will make you feel right at home. The class flows at the perfect pace and you have women who are up to 39 weeks in that class. Would absolutely recommend for any expecting ladies. I yearn to go to the studio when my schedule changes and I have to skip a class. This studio is honestly amazing. I've never taken a bad class or had a bad experience with any of the teachers. They're chock full of any yoga supplies you could need if you don't have your own, and the teachers are wonderful about modifying a pose or encouraging you to listen to what your body is telling you. It's nice to have a yoga studio in Gilbert, really nice. There seems to be an abundance of studios in Phoenix, Tempe, even Chandler but Gilbert definitely lacks in that department. I started going to Gilbert Yoga after I took a job that no longer allowed me to go my regular studio in Tempe. I live in Gilbert so at first, Gilbert Yoga was more of a convenience than anything. Honestly, I've been thrilled with every teacher taken and specifically Ingrid and Robin. Now, it's not just convenience, I love everything about the studio. I really enjoy taking yoga classes with a mix of people and it makes me happy to see a studio that caters to all levels, all ages, and doesn't turn anybody off. I've seen more 55+ yoga enthusiasts here than any other studio and it puts a huge smile on my face. The studio has expanded. I took a class years ago and at that time the studio was only one room. I have been practicing yoga for years and have had the opportunity to be in class with some wonderful teachers in a few different cities. I am now "full-time RV-ing" & many times have to practice yoga with a cd or iPhone ap or just put together a practice of my own. I prefer this type of home practice over a studio or teacher that does not inspire me. But when I am lucky enough to happen on a beautiful space & inspiring teacher I really appreciate it. I love Gilbert Yoga. The vibe is amazing and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I've taken mostly Cassandra's and Kim's classes and they have helped me discover my passion for yoga. I'm an ex football player that's used to doing weights and competitive sports which I still do but nothing comes close to how fulfilling yoga has become for me. I'm always reminded its not a competition and to be in the present moment which has not only helped me physically but mentally and spiritually as well. They also have many varieties if your a beginner or if you want to sweat and detox in hot yoga or if you want to do a relaxing deep stretch class they have that as well. The fact it is based on a donation system tells me its not about the business its about bringing yoga to the community. That tells you what they are about right there. Gilbert Yoga is a great studio for practicing yoga and exploring the healing arts. Workshops and other events are regularly held by a good variety of yoga instructors & healers. Cassandra's classes allows you to explore the poses at your level. She's truly a master of the craft at guiding one into any pose with gentleness and ease. Be warned, don't take yourself to seriously here - laughter and good vibes make the classes uplifting. I've been to the chanting and awakening series workshops. This weekend (6/26/10) a few teachers led a yoga and kayak trip where the buzz was about the Vision board workshops. I'll be checking the website for that one. Kids classes are available. At first, I was scared to do yoga because I'm clumsy and not flexible. After giving it much thought and research, I found this place about five miles from home. The place and teachers are welcoming, warm and not intimidating at all. Had the chance to go to three beginner's classes and the instructors (Heather, Bibi, Ruthie) were all competent and passionate with what they do. Even the students are nice and friendly. LOVE this place! I recently did a search for local prenatal yoga classes and found Gilbert Yoga online. Their excellent Yelp reviews made me even more encouraged to try them out. I'm so glad I did! The prenatal class with Lisette is phenomenal, I feel so good afterwards, both inside and out. It's not intimidating or overwhelming as some yoga studios might feel. They welcome everyone, new and experienced and really focus on your overall happiness and the experience.
