I've been going to Great Clips in Antioch for about 18 years now, and I had the BEST haircut this week. I wish I knew the stylist's name but she was the only African-American woman there. At first, I'll be honest. I was skeptical, never having had my hair cut by a black person in my life (and I'm 74 years old), but she was TERRIFIC!!! My worst experience ever in getting a haircut! The only reason why this Great Clips is getting a 1 star was because the manager that reached out to me was empathetic and she was nice. I was in need of a haircut and was short on time before I had a meeting. I lived around the area so I decided to go to Great Clips. This wasn't the first time I've been here. The first time I was here, my hair was cut by the said manager and it was a great experience. I was hoping she would be there when I I go in but she wasn't. I walked in and wasn't greeted. I observed a female employee (Roseanne) looking like she didn't wanna be there approach me and ask me my name. After waiting for about 5-10 minutes, she called my name and asked me how I want my hair. I told her to fade the sides and trim the top. Throughout the whole time I just felt uncomfortable because of the negative vibe she was radiating. I wanted to leave as soon as possible. After finishing my haircut, I went to pay and I didn't tip her because a tip in definition was given to someone as a reward for their services. Realizing that I didn't, she THREW the receipt at me. I was shocked because what employee has the capacity to do such thing to a customer?! I walked out and vented on my social media (I have over 1.2 million followers) and received a reply from Great Clips via Twitter about the incident and was told to e-mail someone. Not only was I assaulted (legal definition) by an employee, her co-worker (Mary) made a public post on Facebook of how I'm a piece of sh*t and I deserve to be beat! Apparently, this Great Clips supports violence by hiring these two. A couple of days later, the manager of the Antioch location contacted me and asked me to come to resolve this incident. Before I talked to the manager, I got a haircut and Mary cut my hair. She seemed friendly and pretended she didn't know who I am because she knew her job was hanging on a thread. She did a decent job and I did tip her. I went to the back to discuss the incident and was given the information that this wasn't Roseanne's first incident! I was dumbfounded by this. She offered me a free haircut but I declined. This was the last time I stepped into that Great Clips. *Note that this experience happened in July 2014 (my pre-Yelp days). It was such a bad experience I still remember it to this day and am an advocate against going to Great Clips ever because of 2 of the worst experiences I've ever had in customer service was with them. 2 strikes and I'm out! I'm rather sorry that I cannot give fewer than one star for this review. As a veteran, they kindly give out cards for people who can't get haircuts on Veterans Day but they failed to tell us that the cards have expiration dates. But the real issue for this rating is the terrible rudeness at this location. There has been more than one occasion where the workers have been sharp tongued when it gets close to the end of a shift. I'm sorry if we arrived within the last half hour to your place of business. The website doesn't allow online checking within the last thirty minutes so we showed up as walk-in because it said it was only tan 11 minute wait. When we walked in, they asked if we checked in online and after we said no, they copped an attitude and said they wouldn't take anyone else today. Great way to keep customers away! I had another great haircut today from Stephanie, the positive aspect of my visit. I had to wait about 45 minutes for an appointment since they were quite busy, so I'll check in online next time to get on their waiting list. The negative aspect was that there was a two year old child of an employee, or manager or owner running around the salon screaming , yelling and knocking over items for sale on glass display shelves. The mother finally corralled him and confined him in a back room where he continued to yell and scream some more. They finally left. This was the first time that I've experienced such unprofessionalism at a Great Clips. I would still go back, though, because I always like to get haircuts from Stephanie who is so conscientious , precise and professional. read more

End your search for perfect place to get a cut gentleman, this should be your go to location if you live in Antioch or surrounding areas. Everytime I go its quick and precisely what I wanted without any hesitation. The best part about it; you will leave happy and not find little patches of imperfections. I have been cut by two different women at this location multiple times, both very professional for men cuts with literally no complaints on my end (ive been to all other locations in antioch and I always end up finding patches that need fixing, but that has never happened here) I would say get in when they open at 9 am to be out by 915 if there is no wait. The longest i ever waited was 15 minutes and that was when they were absolutely slammed around noon(5 people in front of me) but hey, thats just enough time to browse yelp and see everyone elses complaints about competition in the area. I would suggest asking for Mia, as she cut me a handful of times so far and each time it has been better than I possibly imagined for a haircutting chain, but again both ladies in the early am are very professional and very precise. Seeing as how these two ladies both have cut my hair better than the barber I used to see bi-weekly, I can only assume this establishment takes the necessary time to properly hire experts in their field who legitimately care about their profession, and take the time to properly feel out your hair and get you the best cut possible (i always go short on the sides and short enough to lay naturally on the top). You will feel great with how you look, and your significant other will be very happy as well, and hey thats what really counts. The setting is just like anywhere else. A couple chairs and magazines to wait(if you ever have to) The price is $15 ($14 and change) for a cut that would normally be at least $25, and this price of course is not including a generous tip (which we should all be doing to spread the love and keep the professionals in their field) All in all this is my go to cutter and I will definitely be telling friends and family to try them out and I cannot wait to keep looking fresh every time I go. Great Clips just lost a customer. I had been going to the Great Clips in Antioch, IL for the last 3 years approximately every 4-6 weeks. Today I went there and there were 3 customers getting haircuts and no one waiting. I checked and I was advised that they would be with me shortly. I sat down and waited and then 4 other customers came in. Apparently they had checked in online and they were all ahead of me. My question is why do customers who check in online get preference over customers who physically walk in and check in? Also why was I not told that there were 4 or who knows how many customers ahead of me? I waited approximately 35 minutes before walking out. I do not mind waiting when I am told how long the wait is and how many customers are ahead of me. It's unfortunate that I will no longer be going to any Great Clips location as I almost always tipped $6 for a $14 haircut. read more

My husband has been getting his hair cut for 3 years by a Great Clips. This was his 2nd visit to this salon and the manager was more important with being social than on his haircut. So much in fact he heard, "Oops!" Something you NEVER want to hear out of a stylists' mouth!! A medium fade ended in a high and tight! While mistakes happen, empathy should have been the manager's reaction. My husband was willing to leave a tip; however, having to pay for a cut he didn't ask for shouldn't have even been considered. The manager got rude, short, and threatened to call the police when my husband tried to explain why he shouldn't have to pay for a service he DID NOT receive!!! This is the WORST customer service experience we've received in a long time!! As the manager I would have expected her to do something to handle the situation in a professional manner! This will be out LAST time to this Great Clips and word of mouth, especially via social media, will ensure other's won't have to tolerate this disrespect and poor service! read more

Never had a problem before today. When my teenage son had trouble explaining to the stylist (Rosanna) how much he wanted taken off the back, she muttered "stupid f***ing kid" under her breath. He heard every word but didn't tell me until we had left the shop. I called and told the manager about 30 minutes later. She told me she would look into it and call me back on Friday. If this employee stays, Great Clips has lost my business for good. March, 2016 At first, when I heard back from the manager, she informed me that there had been many complaints about Rosanna, but that the owner had decided to simply reprimand and suspend her. I asked to speak to the owner, and was given her phone number. I left a message, voicing my displeasure at this outcome. About an hour later, the manager called me back and let me know that they had decided to terminate this employee after all. I still do not plan on going back to this Great Clips site, but hopefully their overall customer service will improve moving forward. read more

Went there to get a haircut (I've been going there for several years), 1 person was waiting for a haircut and I was asked if I checked in online. When I said 'no' I was told that it would be an hour wait. I walked out. I guess your online people have more status than us peons who don't want to check in online for a haircut. 2 days later I went to the place in WalMart and they were finishing up with 2 customers and asked me to come back in 20 min (which I did). I would recommend going there instead of this place. read more

The online check-in system has its merits but definitely should eliminate the idea of walk-ins there. However, my biggest frustration is the lack of customer service. In trying to get my daughter's hair cut, we walked in and saw two people waiting. Then I was told there was an hour wait due to the online check ins. I asked the person helping us if she could check us in for a later time so we could come back; her response (at 5:30 pm) was that if she checks us in for 8:00 the owner will come and delete my name. This response does not make sense at all. It was like pulling teeth to get her to understand what I was saying; after all that, the employee went to add our names on and said "Yeah, so a wait time of 101 minutes. That's an hour, right?" After gently explaining that 101 minutes is not in fact equal to an hour, we turned around and walked out. I'm disappointed as this is a convenient location and my daughter just needs a very simple cut at this point. Despite that, Great Clips will no longer be getting my business. read more

My family has been customers for several years. Every time I go there, there's this young woman who never says hello, smiles, engages, nothing. She's never serviced any of us until today. I walked up to the counter and Hi! She promptly said, I'll be with you in a minute. Never looked up, said hello, nothing. When she called my name, I walked over and sat down. Again, no hello, how are you today, nothing. She asked me if I had anything on under my hoodie and I told her I really didn't want to take it off. As I was about to suggest tucking the hood in, she said "Well then you're not going to get a good haircut." I picked up my purse and said, I'll go somewhere else. She responded Fine. I won't be back and in my small town I will be sure to spread the word. If you choose to go in there, be sure to request someone else. She's a heavy set girl with orange hair and her glasses match.
