She asked lots of questions to make sure what I wanted was what I would walk out with. After my consult with her, decided on low lights and big chop (4 inches) to achieve the look that I was going for. My hair has never looked or felt so good! Do yourself a favor and take your money else where. My styalist was great however I found out there was about a 50% markup on both my service and extensions. Don't waste your money. Also, be prepared to be judged as soon as you enter the salon by not only the receptionist but also the stylists. There are a lot better options out there. Completely disrespectful. Unfortunate haircut experience with the owner. I communicated what I wanted clearly. She did not follow my instructions, told me that she would not follow my instructions, and also attempted to use thinning shears at least twice after I asked her not to do so. I got home and my hair was not only *not* cut the way I asked, but my hair was visibly uneven. I called the salon back to see what they could do. The owner got on the phone, proceeded to tell me that she had been "doing this for 35 years" and it was clearly my fault I didn't get a good hair cut. On top of this, she said she couldn't be bothered to schedule me to come in so they could fix it. I spent ~$70 on a haircut to be treated poorly by the very owner of this salon, I left with a really poorly done haircut that I now have to get redone elsewhere. Will never go back. Waste of time and money. I had to cut my own hair to fix the unnevenness. The worst part was being treated so poorly and spoken to with such disrespect. read more

Love Maureen! A very pleasant environment, everyone is super friendly. Nobody makes you feel like shit or rushes through your appointment. My teenage kid just got his haircut there for the first time and said it was exactly what he wanted, and you know how hard it is to please a teenager with these crazy hip hair styles these days! Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Value I don't usually leave bad reviews, but this was just so disappointing. I've had my hair dyed and cut multiple times and if my usual girl didn't move out of state i would still be going to her. But i saw that Jandee Salon had a 4.5 star review and decided to try them. I made an appointment to get my hair colored and cut stating that i have very fine and thin hair and wanted someone who has experience with my type of hair. I was assured that it would not be a problem. I came in and showed the stylist Maureen a picture of what i wanted which was a honey balayage but keeping it to a more honey brown tones and keeping the crown of my hair dark and a layered cut. The stylist said it would be no problem and we talked about doing a balayage where the light colors would be staggered vs highlights where the colors would start at the top of my head. She agreed and said she's going to mix the colors and would be back. She then proceeded to foil my hair, she seemed busy and in a hurry so i kept my small talks to a minimal. After she washed my hair and brought me to a chair to cut, i saw that my hair was still pretty dark. i thought maybe because it was still wet. but after she was done cutting and styling what i got was blonde highlights. I've had highlights before and this was not anywhere near what i wanted. I asked why my hair doesn't look anything like what i wanted, she said "oh i should have told you that it would take a few processes to achieve that look". I said how many? she said probably 2 to 3 more. I wish she would have explained that to me in the beginning or at least have lightened the bottom of my hair like i had asked her to. Or even tell me that it wasn't possible for whatever reason. I paid $200 for highlights and a cut that is no where near what i wanted and now i have to pay out more money just to correct it. This is the first time I've ever been so disappointed with my hair after paying a lot of money for it. I would have appreciated her honesty if she isn't able to get the look i wanted either due to her lack of experience or whatever the reason may be. Most salon would also suggest products to help keep your hair healthy prior to leaving, i didn't get any suggestions, i barely got a bye. I definitely will NOT be back. If i could give them a no star, i would. read more

Jandee needs help with customer service! I had an appointment at 11:30 but got there 10 minute earlier. People were coming in and we're going ahead of me. Finally I asked the receptionist is anyone going to do my hair? She pointed to a girl who was doing a mans haircut and very slowly and twenty minutes later she was still cutting his hair and talking. You would think the receptionist would tell her I was waiting!! I guess the customer is not important in this salon! I walked out and will never return! read more

When I scheduled my appointment the lady on the phone was rude. I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment at 5:45. At 6:05 the stylist said 'I'm doing a quick blow dry and I'll be with you shortly' after yet another 20 minute wait I called it quits and walked out. The lady who was suppose to cut my hair simply said, 'Sorry about that' without any other comments. I am furious that I waited 40 minutes with no sincere apology or other comments. This salon relocated from the Grand Ave., Lindenhurst, location. I am a client of Dennise Porter, who works wonders with my thick, curly hair. I was referred by a neighbor/friend. when I couldn't make the trek to Milwaukee (to my [former] hair stylist of 10+ years, who I would recommend any time). I think because she has similar hair, helps my cause, but everyone I see leave her chair(s) looks better after she's worked her magic. The prices are reasonable, and this is as close to a full-service salon as I have found in northern Lake County. When I have a full-time income, I will definitely consider pampering myself to more services at this salon. read more

I've been here many times and generally it's okay if you don't get anything but a cut. They are terrible at manicures and have increased an eyebrow wax to $18, they also charge for "extras" such as getting your hair blow dried or curled just like a cheap cuts does. This time around I requested for the previous girl who cut my hair to do it again, I couldn't remember her name but they said they had it on record so I made an appt. Unfortunately they didn't have the correct person on record so instead of who I wanted I got a woman in her forties who's chair was covered in hair, she treated me like she was running an assembly line. I described what I wanted to her and I came out with a completely different cut, now my hair is three inches shorter than it's supposed to be and I'll have to wait for months so it can grow out and I can get it fixed. read more
