Lemon butter, Molasses Spice, and Sierra Mud Cookie

Stopped back into Great Basin Bakery on our way home from a road trip. This place is conveniently located in walking distance from the Tesla chargers. We walked in at about lunch time. They were pretty busy, but definitely keeping up. They have a separate section with a few workers dedicated to making the fresh sandwiches. We placed our order and our sandwiches came out in a little under 10 minutes. We had the B.L.A.T. and the Muffeletta. The B.L.A.T. Had perfectly toasted fresh made sourdough with a generous helping of avocado and bacon. The real winner here is the Muffeletta, jam packed with meat and topped with a delicious garlic olive relish. They provide seating both indoors and out and also offer pastries, cookies and may different types of bread. Stopped back into Great Basin Bakery on our way home from a road trip. $15 roast beef sandwich

Very average. Not great, not bad at all. Paid $15 for a roast beef sandwich. Thought it was a little pricey. It was decent. Fresh ingredients, okay size. Inside was dirty, had to clean off a table since they were all dirty. The sandwich came out very quick for how busy they were which was nice. Girl that took my order was friendly. It's one of the few places in town that isn't fast food. I'd probably try another spot before going straight back again.

Stopped in down the street to charge my car and decided to give Great Basin a chance again to fill the lunch void. This time, left totally happy, the sandwiches are fantastic and the take home sourdough bread made a hell of a trip sandwich for dinner. Our favorite was by far the Muffuletta Sandwich, packed with meat and flavorful as can be. The rest of the family got BLAT's (Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado, Tomato) which were good as well, but the Muffuletta is really the way to go. We got a cookie again this time, the Lemon Butter, and this one seemed way better than last time. Maybe the recipe changed or maybe last time was just a fluke. I will for sure stop here again for lunch as we pass though. Only time I am actually in Bishop is going to and from LA/Reno, but I always charge in the lot behind Great Basin.

Way better than Schatt's when it comes to bread and cookies. Those are the clear strengths here. We tried the peach pie and the coffee and neither really impressed. That said, the place is small, charming, and the people are really nice. The bathroom is literally you walking behind the back and going to their bathrooms lol. As long as you know what to get and stick to the bread and cookies, it absolutely delivers. Service: Very nice and welcoming Food/Drinks: Excellent bread and cookies, peach pie and coffee were underwhelming Ambiance: Small, cozy, and local 10/10 Know what to order and it can easily feel like a 10 out of 10 experience

I absolutely loooooove this bakery. It's a cute little spot that I stumbled upon looking for breakfast a few years ago. Just now writing a review on it, very long overdue. We drive up pretty often from ventura county so that's a few hours away. This is a MUST pit stop any time I pass by. I've been here way too many times to count. Their bagels are amazingly delicious. I don't want to sound too obsessed but i dream about their bagels lol I wish I was closer to the bakery. They're the best i've had. Plain with cream cheese or bagel sandwich, can't go wrong. Staff is so friendly there and quick service. Cannot recommend enough.

Great Basin Bakery is a wonderful bakery located in Bishop on the way to the mountains. This spot is super popular and for good reason! They are serving up delicious and fresh and sandwiches. Also they are known for their cookies and fresh baked breads. It's a must stop for a causal breakfast or lunch. This bakery is located downtown and our GPS got us here just fine. We parked on the street and walked quickly across to the bakery. Pro tip is to order ahead online. When we got here there was a line about 10 people deep. We were able to bypass the line and go to the back where their pick up area is, we gave our name and they handed over our sandwiches immediately. There is limited seating inside and it is pretty much a takeout spot. However, if you can snag a seat, there are a few tables, but I would say 90% of the people here were taking the food to go. That's why I would recommend placing an online order for pick up because it just made the whole process really quick and the sandwiches were super fresh, they hadn't been sitting around, etc.. I went with the cold roast beef sandwich, which as simple as it was - it really was delicious. 5/5 stars! The roast beef was generous, and the tomato and lettuce was very fresh. It came with a thick slice of American cheese and the horseradish mayonnaise sauce was phenomenal. I ordered extra horseradish cream sauce on the side and they didn't charge me for it, which was very nice of them. The sandwich was honestly just so well crafted and generous with the portions, that it's a solid sandwich. Prices were pretty reasonable as it was under $19 for a sandwich and some chips. I know you can make sandwiches cheaper at home but sometimes a good deli sandwich is worth the price and the convenience of just coming to picking up. Staff here were very friendly and welcoming. It's a busy spot and a lot is going on but the quality and care by the staff is still 100% there. The inside is a bit outdated, but it more gives a homie old-school vibe. They do have bathrooms in the back and they were clean, so it's great if you need a quick rest stop. This is definitely a local gem and if you stop here, you're in for a treat of a really classic old-school sandwich.

Asiago bagel with all the extras.

I got an asiago bagel with all the extras. It was the best bagel sandwich I've ever had. I got an extra one for the trail. It came out so fast.

Apparently, you order first and THEN find a table--even with 20 empty tables staring at you. We learned this from a fellow customer who apparently promoted themselves to Assistant Seating Manager. Let's just say the explanation wasn't exactly friendly. Then there's the bar. Only about half seemed available for seating, giving me a little COVID-era flashback. I was looking around wondering, "Wait... are we still social distancing?" And if I want another beer, do I keep getting up and walking back to the bar? At that point I'm not drinking beer--I'm doing cardio with refreshments. We'd previously had an unfortunate bakery experience involving bugs and hair in our sandwiches, but everyone deserves another chance. Then I visited the bathroom. I was going to post a blurred picture, but honestly, I decided nobody needs to see that while scrolling through their feed. Let's just say whatever happened in that stall had somehow managed to cover just about everything. I'll leave the rest to your imagination. Overall: good burger, confusing setup, COVID-era seating vibes, and quite the collection of side quests. Order. Find table. Get scolded by the volunteer seating coordinator. Eat burger. Walk for beer. Visit bathroom. Question life choices.

Our server, Kelly, came to take our order almost immediately, but when we asked for a few more minutes, we didn't see her again for about 20 minutes. We had to ask another employee to find her. Throughout the meal, we never got water or coffee refills, and we felt completely forgotten. Our pancakes and biscuit with gravy were also forgotten. After mentioning it, she admitted that she had forgotten to put in the pancake order so we said forget them but we still want the biscuit that comes with the meal. We waited another 10 minutes before I finally had to walk to the kitchen myself to ask for it, and by then we just took it to go. The food is still great, but the service was incredibly disappointing. We hope this was just a one-time experience because we've always loved coming here.
