I just moved back to Durango and needed my oil changed, so I went where I used to go near my old apartment, a Grease Monkey franchise. I've always been happy with their service but today they went above and beyond. I was waiting when an employee (manager? Possible owner? I regret I did not get his name) told me my air filter needed replacing, which I suspected, as it has been doing a lot of dusty off-roading. Unfortunately he didn't have the filter in stock but could check around locally to see if he could get one. I agreed. It should only take 20 minutes. But it took a lot longer as the first filter he got was the wrong one. Long story short, I was there for over 90 minutes. When I went to check out he said I don't have to pay. I thought he meant only the filter, but when I tried to pay for the oil change he refused and said I owed nothing. I wasn't complaining or threatening bad reviews or anything, he simply thought my wait was too long. THIS DUDE GETS IT when it comes to building customer loyalty. I have an older Infiniti QX4 and having recently moved to Durango I left the Infiniti dealer I used for 20 years behind. My fan belt screamed at me every time I started the car. I called Grease Monkey and spoke with Phil and I'm so glad I did. I brought the car in the next morning and he and his team fixed the fan belt from screaming. I also needed a head light fixed. I had gone to Americas' on College and paid them $160. for the bulb and over $50 to put it in only to have it go out again before I left their parking lot. They wiggled it and back on it came only to go out again within a week. Phil and his team checked it and told me that Infiniti parts are expensive and that they wouldn't be able to fix it and I needed at least a Nissan dealer. Their honesty was refreshing. My wife went to GM on 3/23/19 to get an oil change before a road trip. Her jeep recommends conventional oil. They convinced her it needed a synthetic blend and then charged her $79, just for the oil change! (I get a full synthetic oil change for my 4Runner at Durango Motors for $53.) She said they were constantly trying to sell her other things while she was there, which she declined. On top of that, the next morning before her road trip, the left rear tire was down to 13lbs. The only place open on a Sunday was Walmart Tire. They told her someone had just damaged the valve stem, which GM obviously did the day before while checking the tire pressures... This place reinforces the negative stereotype of quick lube places. Avoid them. There are much better options in Durango. read more

After struggling with a 13 point turn to get out, he offered to pay for my car wash. Shawn, I know you don't have to help me and something you didn't know is I have had the most stressful 24 hours I have experienced in my whole life. Thank you for caring and taking care of me. PROFESSIONAL, friendly, fast, etc.service! These guys know what they're doing and do it very well! I wouldn't trust my cars to any other business. They do a very thorough job, making suggestions for current or future maintenance. And, they are NEVER pushy, always working with you to get the most out of your vehicle (air filters, etc.). I know when I get an oil change, they will check and top off all fluids, check my tire pressure----everything to keep me safe on the road! They have my business! Full disclosure, I got a free oil change as a service to Veterans Service was still top notch even though it was free to me. I have had great service before too. I recommend this Grease Monkey to anyone! One thing they do thats great is to show you before fluid so you can see if you need a fluid change. Such as tranny fluid, that way you choose if you want it done. Another thing that is awesome, Free soda and popcorn. Makes the wait much more pleasant! read more

Absolutely the best experience I've had with car mechanics. They spent 40 minutes diagnosing the occasional overheating in my truck. Could easily have sold me a thermostat (I was ready to replace it but they thought it was overly cautious to do so). Gave me the diagnostic codes and clearly pointed out what to watch for. Hands down literally the best team and oil change I've ever had. Service tech educated me on many items I miss as a person who drives 30k miles every 6 months at least. Took care of me in ways I never expected a "quick stop" oil change establishment could or would. Every interaction with every employee was pleasant. Very professional crew, noticed they checked my rear differential fluid level, which most quick change shops never do! Went on a weekday, so only had to wait a few minutes. Checked air pressure in every tire and all turn lights/headlights. Gave me several options on oil viscosity I could choose from. Second one in line right when they opened, they got me out within an hour. Didn't feel like I was being pressured at all. Charming gentlemen, who left me a carnation, which is a very nice touch.
