Tire kept losing pressure. Being in town for a very short duration with a long drive back, there was urgency for me to get the tire looked at. They squeezed me into their busy schedule, showed me the screw they removed, patched the tire, and I was on my way in 20 minutes or so. This past week my boyfriend and I were visiting Durango. We were on our way back to Denver when a large rock punctured two rims and destroyed the tires. Because my car is somewhat of a specialized model, there was no tire store in the town that could replace the wheels and tires unless they special ordered them (which could've taken up to two more days). When we called JP tires, Steve immediately felt awful for our situation and did everything he could to find us wheels and tires so we didn't have to pay for two more nights of hotel. He found some down in Farmington and had his crew drive down to the border TWICE to get the materials they needed. Can't recommend these people highly enough. My battery was completely dead; could not hold a charge but at least I was able to start the engine. I called and they said they replace batteries and had one in stock for my truck. As soon as I pulled in to the driveway an employee directed me to the right installation spot. By the time I got out of the car a new battery was in front of the car and a senior technician was already taking the old battery out. I was on my way in about 15 minutes. I was on a road trip when I started getting a shaking on the front end of my Tacoma. We had hit some serious offroad trails in Moab and Ouray and with 100k on odometer I was concerned it could be a joint, rod or bearing. I went to two different shops in Durango who all told me they couldn't help until next week due to shortage of mechanics. This was on a Thursday and I needed to be home by Monday. I do a lot of my own mechanic work so I just wanted to make sure I could unload the front suspension and check for anything obvious. I stopped at JP's and although they were also booked solid, I was told to wait a few minutes and they would take a quick look for anything obvious so that I could safely drive the truck. It took us all of five minutes to confirm everything was nice and tight and the mechanic that helped me asked me a great question, " Did you brakes with your engine coming in from ouray on the Million dollar hwy?" The answer was no. I always do but this time I had a complete brain fart and used only the brakes and with no engine assist. They had heated up and probably warped the rotors some. This was obvious once he said it and made sense. I made it all the way back to flat land (Houston) with the peace of mind my wheel wasn't going to fly off. They helped me out in a time of need and I am greatful for it. Great people here. read more

Extremely helpful. I had a flat tire and the valve stem needed to be replaced. They got me right in, replaced the valve stem, aired up all my tires and didn't charge me a dime! Wow! These guys are poor mechanics and lazy laborers. I went to retrieve my truck after dropping it off for an alignment and they had broken off the spindle nut retainer key inside one of the front hubs. They put the hub back together with the broken piece inside and handed me the other end of it. They told me they didn't have enough time to fish out the broken piece even though there were no other customers. I will not be giving them my business ever again. read more

I will second Nicol H.... Beware. JP tried to sell me 1100 dollars in suspension components for an alignment that I did not need. Close inspection after I took the car home (no repairs done) revealed factory toe adjustment ability they assured me was impossible. They suggested camber kits when I needed a toe adjustment and the car suspiciously drives worse then when I dropped it off? I'll take it to Big O or Discount tire where the honest professionals are! read more

They assumed because I was passing through town they could frighten me with dire predictions of my tires blowing out and scare me over the phone into authorizing a 2-day $350 repair job. I have many years of auto repair experience so knew their story was pure BS. Returned to home town garage and had trusted mechanic confirm my own diagnosis, charging me $75 and taking 45 minutes to complete the work. I had a brake issue while on vacation visiting Durango. The brakes were grinding on Friday night and JP Tire was open Saturday so it was my only option. I was waiting when they opened at 9am Sat. morning and they had it on the rack within 10 minuets showed me how the brakes were metal on metal and explained that one of the piston for the calipers was making it stick. They got the parts, fixed the brakes in less than 1 1/2 hours and the price was more then reasonable. These guys were very professional and went out of there way to make sure that I would be able to continue our vacation. I highly recommend them for tire or brake service. read more

My wife got her brakes done and oil change. Ended up being almost 2 times as much as 4 other places I called in Durango. I called and spoke with the manager. Unhelpful and rude. Have me a song and dance about using better oil and parts and was not willing to adjust the price to compete with the 4 other quotes I got. Brakes were $360. Highest quote I got was $215! read more
