They did not screw one of my wheels in completely after I went in for an oil change and tire rotation. There was a few subtle symptoms the days after, but didn't become super apparent until I was on my way back from a long road trip, when strange noises from the wheel area became loud exponentially worse over a period of two or so days. Literally everything else was fine with my car except one of my wheels was very loose, due to some loose lug nuts. Was very grateful to have caught it and fixed it in time, I had a 600 mile drive ahead of me that day and could have been seriously injured or killed had I put off checking it. I screwed the lug nuts tight myself, finished my road trip and have driven about 5,000 miles since then and have had no additional issues. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! Took my car in to get the oil changed. Noticed about a week later that the oil gauge was bouncing around while driving. I immediately checked my oil to find there was absolutely no oil in the vehicle. I was able to get under the car to find that the oil plug has not been tightened all the way and the car had leaked all of the oil out of it. After taking a photo of this, I was able to refill the oil and hand tighten the plug to have a vehicle to drive to work. Shortly after, my car overheated on the side of the highway and was no longer drivable. I called the manager to get things sorted out and was eventually directed to the owner. The car was towed back to this Grease Monkey to be looked at. The owner was incredibly rude over the phone and stated that the water pump was out and that they did nothing wrong, despite having a photo of the loose oil plug just one week after getting my car serviced. After weeks of back and forth phone, the owner has simply started ignoring my phone calls to get the issue resolved. Parts of the door panel they took apart to assess the car were left on my driver seat and not put back together. My car is now totaled and this location is taking no responsibility for their actions. Had a great experience here! Nothing really out of the ordinary, just a solid, cost-effective oil change. Great service, wonderful people, very quick and thorough. When I was checking out the guy who serviced my car told me what a cool car it was (2010 Mazda3). We talked for a little while about it, and it was just kinda cool to get a compliment on my ride by the guy who just worked on it. Brought a smile to my face. :) Like that. Also, there seemed to be a produndity of really hot girls in here. My car has died the last month alone 3 times and have had roadside assistance come and jump start me all 3 times. My battery is new so I knew something else was wrong. Well, after an appointment yesterday it died again and once I got it jumped again I brought it straight to grease monkey on east colfax to get it checked out. I was worried it was going to be the alternator or the starter. They close at 6pm M - F and I got there at 5:30pm so I knew it was probably a little too late to have it fully checked out. I told Carlos what was going on and he, along with his crew; Justin, Sean and Fernando came to my car and immediately began an inspection to see if my alternator, starter or battery was failing, right away after minutes within my arrival. Turns out that everything was perfect and the actual issue was that the person who had put my battery lost the bolt and bent the terminal to tighten the battery in place. My battery was very loose and was most likely the culprit for my car constantly dying. Carlos cut the old terminal, rewired it and put in a new terminal and then tightened the battery all within 20 mins of me getting there right before they closed. He only charged me for the terminal and not the labor at the very last 30 mins of them closing. The boys really saved me a lot of money and a lot of time. Started coming here for Oil changes and other regular maintenance about 2 years ago. I've had nothing but positive experiences with all staff members and their handling of my vehicles. Yesterday further cemented my faith in this location. As we pulled into a long line of vehicles waiting to be serviced, Larry immediately acknowledged us and struck up a conversation. We felt at ease because Larry reassured us that we would be taken care of shortly. Came in to get an oil change, only to find that their hydraulics were out and several services from their full service price were not available. They still said it was full price, because I could always come back and top off fluids. OK, I said, I guess I can do that. Then the guy tells me they don't have the regular oil, and that I have to buy one of the oils that is 2x or 3x. When I expressed some reservations that the price would end up being so much for a simple oil change, the guy suggested that it shouldn't be a problem for a guy driving a Land Rover. Seriously? That's how you treat people? By suggesting I shouldn't worry about money because I drive a nice car? Never once did the guy show a shred of decent customer service, smile, or apologize for the non-availability of services. This is just my personal experience. This will be a simple review: I came in for an oil change, they tricked me into buying a new filter for something. I don't know honestly, so I said yes. And I probably didn't need it but it was like $10 so I didn't care. When I got there, it was jam packed. The man that greeted me was cool, and even cracked a joke about Colfax. I walked inside and there was a man- a grown man- was complaining that the wait was too long and that how dare they make him wait. Dude chill, you're on their time. They are not on yours. He ended up leaving and it was a Saturday and was pretty busy. But it didn't take longer than 45 minutes. Everyone was EXTREMELY nice. The office/waiting room is kinda small but what quick oil change has a huge extravagant waiting room. And the location sucks but that's Colfax for you. I ended up asking the man at the front desk if he'd call me when it was ready and I just walked across the street and had a drink while I was waiting. It was quick. It was easy. It was cheap. It was convenient. And everyone I personally talked to was very nice. I'll recommend. However I'll recommend if you're like a chill bro, or like a college student who is relaxed, or a regular person, don't go if you're a bochie asshole who's going to yell at people who are just doing their job. Extremely expensive they can't get your mileage right on the mileage sticker I asked them twice and they still can't do it right. That makes me think that they are unreliable and I do not recommend this establishment. They have my mileage wrong on my sticker still and they can't seem to fix it right. After 20 years going to the same location in 8th & Santa Fe and never had a complain, last time there were new workers I came for an oil change after almost 3 hours the car was ready so I picked it up. A couple days after I have to take it back because they left something loose and the car was leaking oil. This last Friday I take the car again to change the oil. Everything seems ok but when I try to open the back side door, the electric system doesn't work. I take the car back and explain what happened. If I could give this particular location a zero I would. I took my car to this grease monkey on my way to work one day. After gettting my oil changed I notice something weird is happening with my car. Eventually the car starts smoking and dies. I have been coming to this location for years. The service was always very helpful and friendly. Today though was not a pleasant experience at all. I pulled up in que around 9:30am and start to get out of my car when a Tec from the garage tells me to stay in my car and he will be with me. When the Tec walked up he got my milage and started to go over the price categories. I stated I just need an high mileage oil change. The Tec asked me if my car was all wheel drive. Honestly, I don't know if my car is all wheel drive or not. I asked the Tech if he could get the information off my last Greasemonkey oil change reminder sticker they put on my window. The Tech looks at me as says "Those stickers mean nothing to me" So even though you are just a few blocks from where I live I will forever take my car to onother location. Also, none of the Tecs were not wearing mask inside the garage including the women working the front desk, only when the Tec came outside to talk to me did he put his mask on. read more

Update: I was so nervous I ended up going to a Midas and asked if they would check to see if my oil had actually been changed. The oil had been changed but there was oil spilled under the hood, filter loose, fluids hadn't been topped off and tire pressures were low. Grease Monkey has no concern about your safety or wellbeing. They just thought I was some stupid girl they could fleece for $80. (The following is the original post) So was told it would be forty minutes, walked around for forty minutes on the nose and noticed that they hadn't even started my car. I also noted that the other line was all new cars including two gone that had pulled up after me. I mentioned that I obviously picked the wrong line mostly in a joking manner and the employee gets defensive and says no they were all here before you. A bit of a wait wouldn't have bothered me but lying definitely does. Then five minutes later they pull my car into the garage. No joke, TWO minutes after that, the guy says they're finishing up with my car and brings up the list of like ten things they've checked. I said, they've checked all of those things in the past 120 seconds? There's no way any of those things were checked. But fed up with the entire experience I handed over $80 and got in my car to leave, only to find that my tire light was on. Go figure. Now I'm left wondering if they even changed my oil. I thought carefully about writing this review at all, given that I have never written a bad review before and Grease Monkey is typically a good company that provides decent service. I don't want to hurt the reputation of the company itself. I'm giving two stars (instead of one star) because the man who actually did the work on my VW came to talk to me and was a sweetheart, after I asked the front desk guy 3 times for the correct info and couldn't seem to get it out of him. I have to say that I have never been treated so flippantly at a service location before and it seems to be the prevailing attitude among the entire customer service staff at this location. As soon as I walked in, I was met with a 'go away, you're bothering me' kind of attitude. No greeting, just a bunch of rules spouted at me and a declaration of wait time of 30-40 mins before they could even look at my car. It wasn't the info given. Of course, we all know how 'first come, first serve' works. It was the way I was spoken to. Totally disrespectful and rude. I am leaving on a trip in the morning and I really needed to have my fluids checked and my tires filled properly, according to the digital warnings on my dashboard, so I agreed and went for a short walk, hoping that they'd do an ok job with this minor task. When I came back, the second customer service guy, who has been at this location for many years, also was flippant and rude...didn't want to answer my easy questions about my tires and acted in an dismissive manner. Finally, after watching the first service guy come out and shake of the next customer, introducing himself, I had to ask the guy who was finishing up my transaction, 'do you guys not like women here?' I was stunned at the response: combative, aggressive, not willing to listen to what I was saying...and when I finally left after giving the feedback he was asking for in the clearest sentences I possibly could and being on the verge of tears, after he repetitively hounded me to explain myself, he said 'ok miss.' As I was leaving, I witnessed him walking up to the next gentleman arrival (no one greeted me outside at all) and shook his hand. Needless to say, I will never bring my business here again. I get panic attacks in the winter. It happens. Mostly because I drive a chic car meant for summer roads on the coasts of Niigata, Japan, not the treachery of Colorado's interstate highways. I was driving from Denver to Boulder one crappy morning last winter, petrified and under the influence of Ativan. What could possibly make this death call on I-25 North any worse? How about the windshield wiper breaks and snow starts collecting all over my car in the center lane? I managed to pull over. I text Google on my phone to help me find the nearest Grease Monkey. It spews back 10th and Colfax. I get there and a cheery man comes out and asks me what's wrong. I say my windshield wiper is busted, he hums along, does his little magic and tells me the screws were coming out and he put them back in. I ask him how much. I had three oil changes here. After the third, my car was smoking badly from under the engine. Took it in to a mechanic to find that a ton of oil had been spilled under my hood. It cost me as much as the oil change to have my engine de-greased and cleaned up. I won't be back. We've all done it, gotten just up a little earlier than normal on a Saturday morning just to see if we can get the oil changed before the rest of the world awakens. You pull up and there are at least 3 other people that had the same idea that you alone thought you had. But since you're already here you may as well get in line. Well this morning I finally won out by being there 30 minutes before they open and the first and only car in line. The manager David is a great guy, he and the one tech that was there at the time came out and greeted me, eventhough they really didn't have to, seeing that I was just a little early and they were still prepping the shop for opening. This is where great customer service is at it's best. David went ahead and pulled my car into one of the bays and by the time other techs were showing up my car was ready to go with new oil 5 minutes before the shop was to open. As a second car pulled in, I paid for my service and was on my way. Certainly happier about my unexpected experience that went above and beyond, when they didn't have to as I was perfectly willing to wait for them to open at 8am. Other places could learn a thing or two from these guys about serving their customers. read more

Sometimes I hate myself for returning to a place that I've given a low rating simply because I'm desperate or it's convenient, or both. However, I knew that I was well overdue for an oil change. I don't drive much any more (which any of my friends will tell you when we're going somewhere) but when the 'change oil' light started flashing, I knew it was time. Did you know, it's almost been *one year* since I got my oil changed? Uh huh. I'm waiting for the finger wagging to begin. So I was expecting the worst. That said, this was the fastest I've ever been in and out of a GM. Like, 25 minutes tops - enough for me to scroll boredly through the last hour's worth of Facebook statuses, check some email, and mark things off my to-do list. And there was nothing wrong, imagine my surprise. I think I actually said, "You mean there is nothing broken or falling apart or exploding?" which I always expect when I take my car in for an oil change or maintenance. Nope! Simple oil change, and now I can drive worry-free. Until something else happens. I'll keep ya posted. Note: I was super pleased to see that they give shuttle service to folks who really need it. I went here for an oil change yesterday. It's close to my work, I thought I could get the oil change done on my lunch break. It was very busy, and I was told that the oil change would take an hour. I was fine with that. I could handle being a few minutes late back to work. An hour came and went, and I started getting antsy. The guy pulled my car around to the front of the store, indicating that it was done. He came in, put the keys under the counter, and ran out the door to do something else. I figured someone would be in to ring me up shortly. Fifteen minutes of hangry jaw clenching and foot tapping, the guy came in to ring me up. He was apologetic, he said he'd thought someone had already taken care of me. Fine. Shit happens, work gets busy. Unfortunately, that little shitshow is not why I'm writing this review... While I was driving my car back to my office and then home last night, I noticed that my car smelled strongly of oil. I figured it was normal, maybe there was a little spillage. It would burn off eventually, right? This morning, I got in my car to drive to work. The oil smell was just as strong. Strong enough that I almost pulled over to check under the hood...but I was late, so I didn't. About ten minutes ago, I got a call from Grease Monkey. They left my fucking oil cap off. Really. REALLY. Oh THAT explains the oil smell! Thanks guys! Like I said, shit happens. Work gets busy. Mistakes are made...but that's amateur shit. Pull it together folks. I've brought my car here through the years and I've always had good experiences. Like another reviewer already said, Danny's the man. They give me clear explanations of what needs to be done and are very professional. For example: yesterday I needed a headlight changed, but I didn't have much time. They informed that they were fairly busy and I realized I did not have time to get the headlight changed at that moment. Holy crap. My boyfriend and I stopped in for an oil change and did not expect to have our entire day brightened by the contagious smiles of the people that work here. After we dropped the car off initially we both agreed that there were some really positive vibes coming out of this grease monkey and that we wouldn't mind hanging out for hours! When we came back an hour later we were promptly taken care of by another smiling happy man. There was jazz playing on the radio. As I was sitting in the chair I thought to myself, if this was a coffee shop i would hang out here all the time. I was totally relaxed and at ease. What a zen experience! Similar to another review, I had several oil changes here and was happy with the service and the friendliness of the staff. However, only 6 weeks after my most recent oil change, my car was smoking badly from under the engine and there was hardly any oil in the system. As I was in the mountains at the time, had to take it to another place where they replenished the oil. When I returned to Grease Monkey to tell them about what happened, the manager didn't believe my account and seemed to talk down to me. Towards the end of the conversation, he begrudgingly offered to "take care of me, even though he doesn't need to", but by that time I felt so disrespected that I declined his offer. I'd rather pay full price somewhere where I feel respected as a customer. I won't be back. I would encourage this Grease Monkey to be less judgmental of their customers - just because a customer doesn't have an expert's knowledge of automobiles, it doesn't mean they don't deserve respect and good service. While this review is clearly not a good one, I must mention that the staff (not the manager I encountered) are very friendly and personable. read more

As a young girl with only basic vehicle knowledge, I HATE getting my oil changed. It's usually expensive, can be difficult to fit in an appointment within my work schedule, and I usually get told that a giant meteor will strike my Pathfinder within five minutes if I don't immediately let the service station fix the thirty broken parts. This experience was great, though. Danny was behind the counter, and he was as polite and informative as I could hope for. The problems identified by the mechanics were explained to me in great detail, and Danny was 100% with me about the urgency of having them repaired. My Nissan has over 240k miles and he said "To be honest, for this repair you're looking upwards of about $1,000, it really isn't' worth it." A shop that's honest and gets the job done quickly and well?! I'm hooked. read more
