I use to love this place, then I ordered a replacement part for my Jetta, only to not end up needing it because I bought a new car before they installed the new part. I called in asking if they could possibly return the part and reimburse me. The manager I spoke with with very kind and said of course and that I simply needed to come in to swipe my card. I said that was super great of them and I would definitely bring my new Jeep in for service when it needed it. I came in to get reimbursed and the story was MUCH different. The manager on duty was VERY rude and simply said there are no returns on ordered parts. I tried to explain that the person I talked to on the phone said it would be alright, but the manage there just shut me down and didn't even try to look into it. I took my part and walked out. I was already becoming increasingly more wary of this location, and after my last visit, I decided I would be finding a new place for oil changes. I sat in my car for several minutes in the line, but no one approached me for service, so I went in to the front desk. It was almost seven minutes before anyone greeted me and asked about service. Yes, when I did talk to some one, they were all very polite. Yes, they did get my car in an out within about an hour. NO, it does not appear they ever did the oil change they charged me $96 for. About a month after my oil change, I had to take my car to the mechanic for my water pump. This mechanic is highly rated and trusted. My car has been there several times over the years, and the shop is always packed. The mechanic found that my oil was low and extremely dirty. He said it looked like I hadn't changed in months. I think it's safe to say, I will NOT be returning to this location. read more

A solid relationship with a quality auto repair center is harder to find each day. That's why you don't let go easily when you find someplace good. I brought my car to this Grease Monkey location for 3 years, always with great service and reasonable prices. I was always happy. So when I got my car back damaged after my last visit for some minor/routine maintenance, I thought I'd be able to reason with them and have it repaired. To me, it was unmistakeable that the damage had happened in their care and even what likely caused the damage. Regrettably, they were unwilling to accept the blame and make a bad situation right for a loyal customer who would have continued the relationship if only they had owned up to it and fixed the damage. read more

When I walked into the building, an employee told me to pull my car to the bay. I said I wanted to know the price of an oil change first. He said, "Haven't you been here before?" I said, "Yes, but I don't remember the price." He then became passive aggressive and turned to his computer in a way to suggest I was making his job difficult. His tone was disrespectful. DO NOT GO HERE!! I thought I'd stop for a quick oil change and the employees locked my keys in my car to start. THEN...tried to use a slim jim to get in (where they broke my car alarm and one of my windows from rolling down). An hour and a half later MY AAA showed up and unlocked my car. They gave me a free oil change and said they would pay to fix the damage done to my car. Silly me just believing them and leaving w/o getting a written confirmation of that. A couple days later i dropped my car off to get fixed (by this point my window wasn't even holding up and just fell down, so my car was full of snow in the AM) and called to tell them i'd send the bill and the owner said "oh, yea, my techs told me they didn't try to get into the car and just waited for your AAA, we're not paying for it". Wow, I have been going to Grease Monkey locations all over Colorado for years, I have to say this is the worst run location out of all of them. The Latino man who was at the front desk was the rudest employee I have ever encountered at an oil change business in the 5 states I have lived in. Because I am a Grease Monkey customer, I am entitled to free fluid top ups in between oil changes (the company states this very clearly on its website). The man interrupted me before I could even finish asking for the free fluid fill up. I left stunned with his rudeness. I could not imagine ever trusting him with my vehicle. Customer service is clearly lower than low on his list of priorities. Oil change places are a dime a dozen, do yourself a favor and use Yelp to find a garage you can trust who actually cares about customer service. I drive by this location every day and now I know who it's ALWAYS a ghost town. Luckily I am a member of a secret shopper program, so I can't wait to report this to the higher ups. read more

after reading the other reviews, i checked the address three times to make sure we were talking about the same grease monkey. this place is AWFUL. not only do they not have air conditioning in the waiting room on a 100 degree day, but each mechanic acted like i was inconveniencing them when i pulled up in my car. they refused to top off my coolant when i was clearly stressed due to my light being on. they then looked at my grease monkey sticker from another location and simply walked away from my car... unbelievable! i have had great experiences at other grease monkeys but STEER CLEAR of this one! read more

I hate going to get my oil changed, but this place is close so I thought I'd try it. When I pulled in I was greeted by the sight of the staff member shaking his head and cursing (because now there was one more car to service) and then approaching me like I was asking him for a favor he didn't have time for. It was a weekday before noon and there was one car in each bay. Inside the staff was friendly and professional and the other staff member that was actually working on my car was fine, so I stuck it out. After waiting for about 20min they told me they needed to order a part and suggested that I should probably come back once they had the part. They said it would probably be in later that day, so they took my information and said they'd call when the part arrived. Never heard from them again. Went to the location on University Blvd. a few days later and they were professional, quick, and courteous. I'm not going to say this review applies to all Grease Monkey locations, but avoid this location. read more

Took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. I left thinking all was fine until 2 weeks later I realized that they had only put three of the lug nuts back on my front wheel. I took it back in and told Grease Monkey that I had 5 on when it came in. They took a look at it and told me they did this on purpose because the threads on the other two were stripped. Doubting what they were saying I asked that they try to put 2 others from my back wheel in those two spots. They were unwilling but finally relented. When they did they were caught in a lie and I demanded that they replace the two. This was the last the technician spoke with me after realizing that he too was caught in a lie. As a young female I think I was being taken advantage of. However, they were unable to pull this one over on me. DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE IF YOU WANT AN HONEST OPINION!! read more

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this place. They are not only fast and efficient but also very friendly! This past weekend my car tire locked up right next to the Grease Monkey and although they were closed, one of the employees (Jay) who was still in the building helped me figure out the problem and allowed me to pull my car into the shop and keep it there until Monday when it could be looked at. I was given a call back immediately Monday morning and got it taken care of quickly! I would highly recommend this place! :) read more

I usually read negative reviews with a grain of salt, so even after reading bad reviews about Grease Monkey I decided to go ahead with an oil change here, and regret the entire experience. It took 1.5 hours for an oil change, I watched the workers moving very slowly, taking breaks to chit-chat, and when my car was returned to me, my husband's sunglasses had been crushed and left in the floor board. The desk worker denied the incident and responded to my concerns with attitude and took zero responsibility. So my $100 oil change actually cost $250 now that we have to also replace a pair of sunglasses. Terrible customer service. read more

I don't know how else to say it, this was the best oil change experience I've ever had. The gentleman working the counter chatted with me about the upcoming weather changes because I had questions about preparing my car for the cold (I'm from Texas), and then once they were finished another guy who had actually worked on my car ran through a list of everything they checked and the liquids they refilled and they even wiped my windows clean and vacuumed the inside of my car. It's hard to find a trustworthy shop, especially being a woman. They are friendly, affordable and honest. Also, being a mother its important that my car does not spend all day at the shop. I went to get an oil change - JUST an oil change if I was having issues with my car I would take it to a dealership. The tech comes back with a laundry list of things that are wrong with my car: needs a new battery - the transmission is slipping - ect. The car is a 2012 and I took it to the dealership for the last change. I get it you are "looking out for my best interest" I get it, but once I say no thank you; please leave it alone. The tech did not he kept pushing the issues over and over and going to the shop and coming back saying well I have time to do it today...I said no please just change the oil. I wanted to grab my keys and run, but that wasn't an option. Well he finally changed the oil and when I received my bill it was for $108. How is an oil change that much?! And if he knew it was going to be that much isn't he supposed to inform the customer. The manager asked me if he told it would be that much and I said no and said well the job is gone all I can do is give you 10% off. So $98 later my oil is changed and shock I took my car to the dealership and his laundry list of repairs was false. With all that being said - stay away not a honest company. And while driving my car to get it re checked out to make sure it was ok..it started to drive funny. He put the air filter on incorrectly. read more

I came in with a flat tire and decided to get an oil change as well. Turned out I needed some more services so I agreed and spent more than I planned (though I agree it needed to be done). They told me the tire was fine- I had just added air to get to the location but told them it went flat twice in 12 hours. So they checked it again and then told me it was all set. I assumed they patched the problem. They gave me my keys and I left. An hour later my tire completely blew out and there was a huge hole in it. When I called to tell them what happened they said they couldn't help. I was totally broken down on Colfax (2 blocks away) without a spare. I have no idea why they let me leave without a new tire or why they couldn't help at all. I walked to the nearest place Conoco on Colfax where they helped me get to a safe place, drove me to get a new tire and put it on for free. Thank you Conoco, no thanks Grease Monkey. read more

The guy working the front desk was friendly, and the service was quick. Unfortunately when my car was pulled around it was clear that they hadn't vacuumed or cleaned the windows but had marked on my receipt that both of these tasks were complete. Normally I wouldn't mind but marking it complete is a deliberate lie and it is a service included in he price of the oil change service. I also know that my windshield wipers barely work and they had marked those were checked as well. I went back in to discuss it with the guy at the front and could not tell if his irritation was towards me or the tech Ervin who had been working on my car. He called the tech back in and the tech was super annoyed. He took my car back to complete his job and in retrospect I wish I hadn't given them my keys. After a couple minutes the tech Ervin swung open the door laughing and told the guy at the front "come look at this" while he was cracking up. After about 5 more minutes of the guys being back there they brought my car around and Ervin had a smirk and a "sorry bout that mam" that came across as very sarcastic when he handed me my keys. I am 90% sure that they messed with my car because I requested they finish the job so I am taking it to my friend who is a mechanic immediately. Overall the gentleman at the front was friendly but I am not impressed with the ethics at this shop specifically. read more

I highly recommend the work at this shop. The wonderful auto specialist, Elvin has helped me twice. The first time was something small and he didn't even charge me because I always go there for oil changes. This last time, he really went above and beyond. My car needed some work because of new emissions regulations. He found the problem, fixed it, explained the problem and what he had done to it the same day. Then there was another problem, the check engine light on the dash would not light up. I called the supposed experts the emissions people recommended because they were supposed to be free and having no financal reward to gain, extremely trustworthy. They were neither. They could not help at all, so I took it back to Elvin at grease monkey, and he diagnosed the problem for free and in a few hours. Then because I am a good customer installed the part for free. I can't say enough good things about the people who work there. My brother is a mechanic and I worked in his shop one summer. I take my car to Elvin and the guys at the Colfax grease monkey every time. I think it is owned by a father and son. They have a great WWII picture in the waiting area the father took working on WWII airplanes. I guess engines are in their blood, and they have ideas about service from another era. I will give them my business as long as I own a car. They have my highest recommendation. read more
