Asked them to check my brakes twice in 9 months bc they seemed to be squeezing. Was told they were fine but I needed to change 2 filters. The second time I asked to check my brakes, was told "They look brand new. You should change these two filters though". To which I declined because one was JUST replaced upon last oil change. They took a look at my spare and said it was unrepairable. Nice of them! On suspicion the brakes weren't fine I took the car to Midas 3 months later. They showed me that 2 brakes were down to metal and the other 2 were badly in need of replacing. They also voluntarily and for free patched my spare tire. Checked my filters and said they didn't see a problem. NEVER GREASE MONKEY again. read more

When two events happen sequentially it is natural to connect them. I had a basic oil change at this location and TEN DAYS LATER my engine died. The rod bearings froze and destroyed the engine. The emergency mechanic looked at the oil and pointed out how bad it looked. He couldn't believe it was just ten days. The two mechanics who eventually rebuilt the engine had the same reaction. The oil was dirty and almost gritty. I was told by an attorney that I had zero chance of prevailing if I claimed damages. So the experience cost me close to $3000. P.S.--I got a response note from a manager at this place...asking me to call and discuss the awful situation. I called. I left my number on their voicemail. I wait.....I wait....I wait. Fast. I mean, who wants to spend time watching some guys change the oil in your car? Competent. No big puddle of oil in my garage. This is very important. Free Wi-Fi. Fair price. And, the biggie. Our automobile is 4 years old, but only has 14K miles. But, because it hit the 4-year mark, the service notification came on (sometimes, I hate computers) every time we started up the car to tell us that our "coolent needs replacement". While I'm not a fan of taking our cars in for service, oil changes, or whatever - I can't say I have any complaints about these guys. For starters, they have a Ladies Day. Bonus. I'll take whatever discounts I can get! I also found the guys here to be friendly and helpful when explaining what was needing to be done (or what would need to be done soon) with my husband's truck. Cars aren't my area of expertise, so I appreciated the explanations. There locations are convenient to work/home, so we'll likely be bringing our vehicles back for oil changes as needed. read more

I would love to give this place more than one star because they look like they got it down but i had a really bad experience today when i took my car in to get my trans and engine serviced. I called before hand with all of my car's information and got quoted a price, a price I informed i was quoted as i drove my car in the bay and filled the paperwork. Nobody addressed pricing being wrong on my end so i figured it was right. After they finished servicing my car they tell me they added a $20 off the total price but when im about to pay i noticed im being charged almost $100.00 more than what I was quoted on the phone and told the greet technician. I looked over how they priced my total and it looked like the trans service was not the price i got quoted for on the phone. Knowing that they serviced my vehicle already and that they possibly did a good job at it i decide not to argue it and just pay but unfortunately my card got declined. I had to call my spouse to come bring more money over so I could drive off my car. All in all The staff is mostly clean and well oriented but there is clearly a lack of communication when it's time to talk pricing of services. I felt this employee i initially talked to just nodded to whatever i said and was just trying to push the line of cars faster. I should start off this review by saying I know next to nothing about cars. So maybe this entire ordeal is not their fault. However, it seems pretty damn unlikely that its not, hence me bothering to write this review in the first place. I have been getting oil changes done at various Grease Monkeys for about four years. I brought my 2001 car to this Grease Monkey on Colorado Blvd. Service seemed fine, they flowered and vacuumed my car, etc. etc. About ten miles later the right side of my hood was sputtering liquid and smoking. I don't mean a little smoke either. I was thinking, ' well I guess my car is on fire.' So I pulled over and popped the hood. It continues sputtering and smoking for about 5 solid minutes. I was a bit tiffed. I was ahead of the game with this last oil change as far as timing so I didn't understand what was going on. I took my car to my mechanic and he said it is very common for places like Grease Monkey to mess these things up. Apparently while flushing and refilling my fluids, they created a vacuum which caused all my antifreeze to sputter in the hood. I called Grease Monkey later that day and told them what they did and said I will never use them again, explaining that I was not satisfied with my car smoking and leaking all it's antifreeze, in spite of my satisfaction being guaranteed. They put me on with the manager. The manager did not apologize. He asked for the name of my mechanic, and he wasn't very nice about how he asked. He said he would call me back later. The next morning the Grease Monkey manager calls me and says what happened to my car was not their fault. He said he spoke to the mechanic and I misunderstood the mechanic. Whatever. At this point I had refilled the antifreeze and vowed simply to avoid Grease Monkey. Now, it's been two, maybe three weeks since my car smoked and leaked on me. I took it to my mechanic who checked and refilled everything. I haven't done much driving, and the vast majority of it has been local. As of 3 days ago, my service engine light is on. I took my car back to my mechanic and spoke with someone there who I have not worked with before. This person had no idea that I had been there before with Grease Monkey Issues. I simply said my Service Engine light was on. First thing he asks me is, "have you gotten your oil changed recently?" I admit, that is like asking someone if someone in their family has died from heart problems, because the answer is statistically going to be yes. Regardless, yes I did get my oil changed recently. The mechanic said that often when you get your oil changed the companies that do that for you, tend to forget to reset the computer in your car. This wouldn't be a big deal. People are human, they forget little things like that. The thing is, they forgot to do that last time. When I last went to this same Grease Monkey prior to the sputtering incident, they forgot to reset the computer. I made a big deal to say to them before they looked at my car, 'please make sure you reset the computer because last time you forgot and all these service lights went on.' So here is my issue with this Grease Monkey. It seems that they screwed up my car pretty badly. It seems to me that they created some kind of liquid vacuum with my antifreeze. I'm really lucky that sputtering smoking crap didn't happen when I was on a highway. And now my engine light is on, possibly from them neglecting to reset the computer. So what the deuce are they doing back there with my car? I mean, their main job that they do ALL DAY, is changing oil. It doesn't seem like there is that much to it. And yet, it appears to me that they screwed up on quite a few accounts when I don't think there is that much to screw up to begin with. I will say, I appreciate the customer service from the guys who actually work on my car, but if all you are is nice and you are damaging my car, that doesn't fly. I give them two starts instead of one because they usually are so nice and not pushy and because I suppose there is a small chance none of this is their fault and is sheer coincidence. Maybe someone more car savvy than I will be able to read this and decipher if they screwed up or it was just bad timing and chance. Still, I'm keeping my distance from Grease Monkey from now on until proven otherwise. read more

Bad customer service. Went for an oil change. They told me it would be about an hour and that they would call me if any questions arose or if completed if I wanted to go next door to Starbucks. I never received a call and came back after my coffee to see my car was completed. As I am paying, I asked if the air filter had been replaced. They said no but it is recommended. I asked them to do it and they proceed to tell me that I would have to wait in line again for another hour plus. A simple call to ask me if I wanted it done would have been the right thing to do. Kind of like a Jiffy Lube, but they have some new tricks here. First, make sure to get a coupon for $5 off from their website because $40 bucks is too much for a 10 minute oil change. Then, they pulled my air conditioner thing which was covered in twigs AND stuff. It wasn't the usual air filter pull from Jiffy Lube and I never even heard of the thing. I offered to shake it out, but that would violate some policy and he would be responsible if I shook it out and broke the thing. Please dude, but since it did look fillfthy and it affects my AC supposedly, I got it done for $10 off at $29. I probably should have made sure they actually switched it and the dude just didn't shake the thing out himself laughing at me with his boys in the back. Otherwise, besides for the usual" your transmission fluid is horrible" comment, everything seemed OK. I'm switching away from these quick service places from now on and taking it to a real mechanic. I just left this location without being serviced because I sat for 20 minutes waiting for someone to come assistance me. There are 5 men working right now and not one of them spoke to me as I waiting. They all were talking and smoking cigarettes and I made eye contact with everyone of them. NOT ONE PERSON SPOKE TO ME. The employee with the spary paint mask was complaining under his breath like he did not want to help customers. Monkeys, yep and for sure greasy. I have been coming here for the past couple of years and have great service until 2018. I'm not sure what has happened but it doesn't really matter. Time before last I instructed them to please lock my car when they were done as I would be back in a couple of hours (common sense I know!) Car was not locked. When I got in my car today the steering wheel was sticky and greasy. I took a hand wipe and wiped down the steering wheel. Look at the picture! Gross! I have a new sports car with leather interior that I am a little OCD about how well I maintain my car, inside and out. I detail it MYSELF weekly. While I feel it's fair to make a business aware of the problem before posting a review, I asked for the manager. Not only that, but I was also conscientious that the waiting room was packed and impossibly to have a conversation without everyone hearing. So I walked outside to talk to manager, Dave. I showed him the wipe that was covered and grease and he said, "yeah, accidents happen, nothing I can do about it!" He even admitted that he was the technician who serviced my car. Really? Hey Dave the manager, I see you're wearing gloves (black). Why are you wearing gloves when you don't change them? Yeah, accidents happens for sure but this is your JOB! I am a health care professional and I don't go patient to patient with the same gloves. Dave just kept saying, " there's nothing I can do about it!" I kindly said ok and started to walk away. He says, "why, what do you want me to do?" I said I guess there nothing you can do, you just told me about 5 times. How about paying for my car to get detailed? How about knocking off $30 for they $80 oil change? Or better yet, how about paying my dry cleaning bill since I was wearing white and when I got home and noticed the geese all over my clothing? These guys always treat me right! Each time I've taken a car here, they take care of the oil change and only what is needed on the car. Thye don't abuse the up-sell of unnecessary service. I'm so confident, I've sent my teenage daughter to Grease Monkey on her own, and they treat her right too. For some reason (temporary insanity?), I decided to change my own oil over the weekend. I hadn't done this in years. Although everything seemed to go well, afterwards, I had a significant oil drip under my car. I raised the car up and re-tightened the drain plug and oil filter, but still had the drip. So, I ended up taking the car to Grease Monkey. They fixed my leaky plug at no charge AND topped off my fluids (even though I didn't pay for an oil change)! Never again will I go through the hassle of doing this myself. I've been taking my classic Toyota Tacoma to this location for it's annual oil change for years. I was satisfied until my last visit this month. I had bought new, custom floor mats for Truckie for her 20th birthday. Not cheap at $140. When I got home from the oil change I noticed they had not put down a paper carpet protector and there was a big oil stain on the new drivers side floor mat. They obviously saw "older vehicle" and decided they didn't have to be careful with their oily shoes. Very disappointed. read more

I don't usually like quick lubes because I feel like they are just trying to sell me things I don't need or I didn't come in for. While like all other places like this they still did offer additional services it was not pushy or excessive. I got in right away for my oil change which I desperately needed. 15-20 minutes later the Bishi was ready to go with fresh oil, a vacuuming, and topped off fluids and tires. While this was all great my favorite part was it is dog friendly. Monks did get antsy but she made lots of friends and kept me busy while I waited. read more

I'd never set foot in here before, but I had an amazing experience at this location today. My Accord needed an oil change, and I chose to take it here because I had a meeting across the street in 20 minutes--I figured I could leave my car here to be serviced, walk to my meeting, and pick it up after. Instead, they changed my oil, replaced my filters, noticed some corrosion on my battery terminals and fixed that, filled all my fluids and my tires, vacuumed my car, cleaned my windows, etc., in 15 minutes. I couldn't believe it. In and out with absolute friendliness and honesty. I'll definitely be returning. Unscrupulous: I have a very strong, almost 100% suspicion that money was stolen from my car. Incompetent: For an inexplicable reason, right after getting my car's oil and filters changed and a couple of other services, my brakes started to squeak. The services that my car received had nothing to do with the car's brakes, so why they became impaired, I have no idea. However, there appears to be a cause/effect relationship between the services that were performed and issues with my car's brakes. read more

I went here for a basic oil change which includes topping off the fluids, washing windows and vacuuming the interior of the car for $39.99. The guys were all nice and I never felt pressured to purchase anything extra like most other quick oil places. They told me what they recommended--they didn't try to convince me what was needed. I ended up getting an engine filter because (1) it was really dirty and (2) I know I haven't replaced it in years. They gave me a discount on the filter and on the oil change (because it was Tuesday aka ladies day) so I only spent about $50.00 in total. I'll go back. read more

After an oil change here, I'll have to go to the dealer for repairs. I brought my car in for a simple oil and filter change. The employees at this business demonstrated that they are not qualified to perform the work they claim to be qualified to perform. 1) After leaving I opened the hood and found BROKEN PARTS that will now have to be repaired by the dealer. Specifically, the "engine housing cover" is attached by clips which the "Greasy Monkey" destroyed. The cover no longer attaches as it originally did. 2) When I brought the car in, there was no "error messages" on the dash. Now that the "Greasy Monkey" tried to reset the computer (for the oil change), they messed up the car's computer. It now shows "tire inflation issues" every time the car is started or driven. Of course, I checked, and all four of the practically new (6 mos old) tires are inflated according to manufacturer's recommendations. How did they break this? They told me they have no idea. Clearly a demonstration of their incompetence. 3) When the "show how much longer" screen, was reaching the five minute mark, they just added 15 mins. There was no additional work to be done, they just didn't want to pay the $1/min discount. When service was done, the counter showed "-7.5 minutes", so I should have gotten a $7.50 discount. Did they offer it, NO. LIAR CRIMINAL CREEPS. 4) They pulled a BS "a rat is living in your air cleaner" line and insisted that BOTH of the car's air intake filters be changed. $25 each, and I'm pretty certain this was a scam...there was no rat living in the air cleaner. They just wanted to scam me out of an additional $50. SCAMMERS LIKE THIS ARE LOSERS. Incidentally, this was probably telling, but the guy in "Bay 2" when I was there had been there for 2.5 hours for an oil change. The "Greasy Monkeys" broke something and actually admitted it. He had spent most of his afternoon getting what was supposed to be a 20-minute oil change. I'M STRONGLY RECOMMENDING THAT ANYONE WHO NEEDS AN OIL CHANGE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, AS THIS BUSINESS IS RUN BY DISHONEST SCAMMERS WHO SHOULD NOT BE TAKING UP JOBS THAT GOOD, HONEST PEOPLE COULD BE DOING. By the way, everyone knows that the interval between oil changes when using the modern synthetic oil is supposed to be 5,000 miles. Every wonder why Grease Monkey's stickers reflect 3,000 miles?
