When I heard that Javamore Cafe was closing in Penngrove, I was really hopeful that something like a sit-down breakfast diner would go into its place. When I saw that grateful bagel was moving in, I tried so hard to withhold judgment until I actually went there, since I had tried their other locations and found the experience to be extremely mediocre every time. We arrived in the morning to an open parking lot and no customers in the cafe. It looked a lot like they had kept most of the fixtures of the past cafe and made some small tweaks. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and hubby ordered a sausage egg and cheese bagel. Since it was opening week, we both were given a free coffee which was nice so I tried the Brazil roast and he tried the Kona roast. Despite the fact that we were the only ones there, it took a really long time for our two bagels to be made. I took some photos and waited for our food which we ended up taking to go because the music in the restaurant was super loud and we could barely hear ourselves over the volume. At home we tried the coffee and it was somehow both very watered down and extremely bitter and we ended up pouring both coffees out. My bagel was barely toasted and although it was a plain bagel with plain cream cheese, it somehow tasted big time like jalapenos. The texture of the bagel was more like plain bread and not bagel-like at all. Hubby had a similar experience with his bagel sandwich, was stating that all tasted pre-made and reheated and more like doughy circular bread than a bagel. I really hoped that this iteration of grateful bagel was going to be different given all of the bakery competition in Penngrove. Full circle bakery is literally in the same parking lot, Penngrove market is a culinary competitor on its own, and with the absolutely amazing Sonoma Mountain Breads coming in just around the corner, I do not know how grateful bagel is going to be able to keep their doors open with this low level of food quality. It's just really sad.

Came in on a Saturday morning. Location has tons of parking. Very clean inside. Lots of table and chairs available. Staff is very friendly. I ordered the harvest bagel on a sesame bagel. It was soo good. The freshness of the bagel was obvious. Light crunch on the outside and chewy on the inside. Their Vietnamese iced coffee was delicious as well. Come try out this local bagel shop in Penngrove. I can't wait to try other items on their menu.

We are so excited to have a Grateful Bagel near us! Just as good as the Sebastopol location. The ladies working there were super nice. Lots of great options on the menu! We got there at the right time, people started to come in after we ordered! We enjoyed our bagels inside at a table, which had hot sauce and ketchup! They also have outside seating. We will definitely be back especially because the breakfast burritos are calling my name!!

Super cute space and plenty of outdoor and indoor seats. Coffee was really good and flavorful. Drip is 1$ refills and they have light, medium, and dark roast. Bagels were super amazing and fresh, a great size too. Only one person working and she seemed really rushed, super friendly and nice though!

Our server was incredibly friendly, and the entire room shared the same warm, easygoing vibe. The small, speakeasy themed space was already packed at 5 PM, so reservations seem like a must. Everything we ordered was well-prepared and delicious, but the standout dishes were the beet salad and the shrimp & grits. The beet salad had a perfect mix of textures; chopped pistachios, tender beets, and crunchy radishes over a pillowy ricotta. I finished the salad wishing there was more. The shrimp & grits featured a potlikker sauce that absolutely lived up to the hype; it made the dish. I wish the shrimp & grits were served in a bowl rather than a shallow dish. I found myself chasing the sauce and polenta around the plate, trying not to push it over the edge. That said, if it were in a bowl, I might have just drank the sauce, so perhaps this is the restaurant's way of preserving a bit of dignity for its guests. Next time, I'm hoping to visit when oyster po' boys and fried green tomatoes are on the menu.

The vibe is effortlessly chill, with whimsical decor--think antique lamps, an old record player, and lots of little details that make you want to look around. The whole place felt alive in the best way--buzzing with conversation, laughter, and people clearly having a great time. We didn't have a reservation, but lucked out with seats at the community table. Bonus: the other guests were super welcoming, which just added to the fun, communal feel. We hit happy hour, and wow--it's a good one. Tons of interesting bites and a solid drink lineup. I went with a whiskey sour, my friend had the ginger beer on draft (very refreshing), and we shared the prawns, Brussels sprouts, and creamy mac & cheese. Everything was seriously delicious. Shoutout to our server, Melanie--friendly, attentive, and totally on it, even with the place packed. A couple things to note: it does get loud, so maybe not your spot if you're after a quiet, intimate dinner. Also, the happy hour menu listed Brussels sprouts but didn't mention bacon--I'm vegetarian, so that was a bit of a surprise. (It is noted on the regular dinner menu, which I admittedly didn't check.) All in all, such a fun, lively spot. I'll definitely be back for more bites and cocktails.

Came here to meet a friend before a trip to the coast and somehow this place turned into mission control. Snacks? Covered. Drinks? Secured. "What's the plan?" meeting? Handled. This place isn't a stop... it's the pregame to your entire adventure. We walked in like "let's just grab a couple things real quick" ...and immediately started acting like we were prepping for a 3-day expedition into the wilderness. Trail mix, drinks, random artisan goodies we absolutely didn't need but emotionally required--into the basket they go. The vibe hits you right away--warm, local, no nonsense. Not that fake "rustic but expensive" energy... this is the real deal. The kind of place where you half expect someone to hand you sourdough and life advice. Now let's talk about that wood-fired kitchen... The smell alone should come with a warning label. You walk in thinking you have self-control... and 5 minutes later you're ordering like you just finished a marathon you didn't run. Zero regrets. Grab-and-go here is elite. Perfect if you're road-tripping because everything feels intentional--like it was made for people who say "we'll just eat in the car" and then end up parked somewhere scenic turning it into a full dining experience. Outside seating? Dangerous. You sit down "just for a minute" and suddenly you're 45 minutes deep into conversation, solving life, planning detours, and debating whether the coast trip should include at least three unnecessary stops (it should). The market side is where discipline goes to die. You go in for water... leave with snacks, drinks, and at least one item you'll later say, "honestly... great decision." Parking is easy, place is clean, and the whole experience just flows without trying too hard. This isn't just a market. It's a pit stop that turns into a personality trait. Will I be back? Yeah... next time I'm pretending I only need one thing again.

I was expecting to feel blah about it. As we went in I saw they named the chef on the outside window, and I thought hmm, interesting. Going in we were greeted by the hostess whose smile was a little too deliberate, maybe it's a required smile enforced by the bosses which can sometimes not be the best feels for the customer. Bosses, please don't do that. But still she was nice and we were seated and helped quickly. They have a great menu with lots of enticing options, it was looking good already. Then we found out they had crab cake eggs benedict! So I skipped out on my other options, pancakes or huevos rancheros, and we split that. The prices seemed kind of high but then where is that not the case these days? Given the feel of the place it seemed fair to me. The food came and it was amazing. Generous amount of crab and it was real crab, with perfect eggs and sauce on a gorgeous english muffin that was... stay with me here I'm not trying to get fancy with prose here, let me just reuse what I said above: amazing. Somehow the muffin was both crisply toasted in butter to a crunch on top (of the muffin), yet amazingly chewy (in a good way) on the bottom. And not soggy, the sauce was well placed on top of the egg above the crab cake. The service was friendly and in all ways perfect. Food came quickly. The place was not noisy or perfumey. My only regret is I can only tell you about that one dish since that's what we shared. I was too full to finish the little smash-grilled baby potato discs so we took some to go. All in all it was fantastic. We will go again next time we are in town. They did try to sell mimosas to us (at 8:30 am lol) but nah we did not go for it.
