Grassburger - Albuquerque, NM Grassburger is freaking delicious. Super trying to not eat burgers and stuff anymore because they tend to make me feel like dirt, but I can eat here without feeling awful. They are a little on the expensive side, but I so do not care. It's worth it to get food that is actually good for you to eat (I mean as much as a burger and fries can be). I like that the food is more organic and natural. If you're going to eat bad stuff for you, at least you can make sure you aren't making it any worse! Their sodas are pretty great too. I'm off on soda, but I would easily drink it here anytime. They have a lot of fantastic options here. Anything from vegan, vegetarian to meat eaters. The fries are excellent and it has a very cool vibe to it. It can taste a little greasy and they charge extra for their chipotle mayo sauce. I'd recommend the Durango Burger if you aren't sure what to get. Very shortly after I posted my original review, the owner contacted me and wanted to find out more about my experience. I have a lot of respect for an owner to takes criticism seriously. Not only did he go out of his way to try and make it right, but he asked me to give them another shot. That was a while ago, but I just had a chance to go back. I got the burger, mix fries and chipotle mayo and I have to say, that's one of the better burgers I've had. the staff was friendly, the burger was cooked perfectly and seasoned well, the fries were freshly cooked and still hot by the time I got them home and perfectly seasoned. They have had some time to get through their growing pains and I'm happy to say have come out better for it. If they continue with the quality of this visit, then I will be a fan. The cost of food isn't cheap, but you aren't just paying for a fast food burger. Expect to pay more knowing that it's a grassfed cow, treated better than your standard cheap beef. read more

The service was slow, and when we got our burgers, neither my friend's nor mine had the correct toppings. The fries are OK, but not up to the price. This is my favorite place for a burger, defiantly have not gone anywhere else anytime that I crave a burger. The meat is the best tasting meat ever, you can really taste the difference in a grass fed cow. I also love this place because they have healthy options such as serving you a burger " protein style" with no bun for carb cutting and they also have a vegan friendly burger that is to die for. They have green chili and you can add an egg to any burger. They server beer also for those that like to have a cold one with your burger. My favorite hands down is the sweet poatoes with ranch dipping. The staff is alway friendly and if you are a Vet you get a discount how awesome is that. This is a great place for your pets as well, they have an outdoor area where you can take your dog(s) and enjoy a really good burger. I honestly can say that I have never had a bad experience here. It was crazy raining and my friend didn't want to look for a new place to eat, so we tried Grassburger. Should have driven somewhere else. The chick taking our order was dumb as a box of rocks. Not the best start, but she's a kid, so I let it go. I ordered a bacon chedda burger with a fried egg and hand-cut fries on the side. My bud ordered a chedda burger and fries as well. The burger was this flat disc about the size of a McD's burger. (Haven't been to one of those in about 25 years, but if memory serves...) I was immediately disgruntled - if your pride is based on the meat, why would you choose to make it a tiny part of the experience??? Additionally, my burger was well done. Blech - what a waste. The buns seem to be bulk-purchased Wonder-bread style white junk, no style or flavor. Again - waste of potential. The egg on my burger was hard fried - so not how it should be. You want a partly runny egg on a burger for the added flavor. The fries must have been really old. They were not the least bit warm and had no flavor. My friend did not even eat hers, she was so disappointed. Nothing worth returning for, that's for sure. I will listen to Colin next time and go down the street for something tasty. I walked into this place with every intention of loving it. Grass fed beef, locally sourced items, cane soda? Yes, please! Except... No. I ordered the Bacon Chedda' Burger and hand cut fries. The entire time I was ordering, I wasn't sure if the kid was listening to me. He never made eye contact or verified that he was taking the order correctly. I love fries. I really do. When you say hand cut, it makes me think of thicker, awesome fries. The fries I got were like... Shoe strings! They ddin't have any salt or flavor to them, and weren't remotely crispy or crunchy. Sad day. As for my burger, it was ok. It had no char or sear on the outside, so my best description of it is that it was sweaty. It was the same color from the outside to the inside, and caused the bun to become a slimy disgusting mess. My bacon was gummy and not cooked completely, so that was definitely a downside too. For the hub and I, it was almost $40 for two burgers, fries, a milkshake and a soda. Based on the pricepoint versus the quality, it fails miserably. In theory, this is a great idea. Sadly disappointed. We were really excited to have a new food choice close to home and really excited to try this establishment. I really wanted to love this place. One of the pros is that they have grass fed beef and their sodas with cane sugar are great! But I think I can probably go buy some grass fed beef at the store and make us some killer burgers for cheaper than this place. It is very overpriced for the quality and portions that you get. When we first walked in before I even had 60 seconds to view the menu we were asked what we wanted. This does not appear to be a fast food place so give your customers a greeting and give them a minute to view the menu and ask if they have any questions. I felt like we were already supposed to be ready the second we stepped foot in the restaurant. This is something that can easily be corrected with training, so Grass Burger if you are reading you might need to re-train your register people! On to the food. The meat is very greasy. My husband got a Green Chile Jack burger on a bun and sweet potato fries and I got a lettuce wrapped bacon Cheddar burger with a small side salad. Because the meat is so greasy it soaked into the bun on my husbands burger and slid off the lettuce on mine. Could be the way the burger is cooked, there was no sear on the meat or even char so maybe the grill isn't hot enough? I get meat being juicy but this was just grease not juice. The green chile is definitely NOT FROM NM so beware, it is probably Colorado chile which is not really any chile I want on my burger. It was bland slimy, and not hot. The sweet potato fries were good being that they are fresh cut, but they were not cooked long enough and almost had a "raw" taste to them. Maybe a little longer in the fryer or hotter oil? I had high hopes for this place but we will probably not be back. The meat tasted great, but I just cant see spending $40 for the small portions when I can go buy some quality ingredients and make a way better grass fed burger at home. I was excited to check this place out so I recently gave it a try. Myself and a friend both ordered the Farm Salad with a black bean burger and tahini dressing to go. The menu describes a Farm Salad as consisting of "Seasonal greens & fresh vegetables" so I was expecting an elevated salad with a good amount of veggies. Instead, we both received a container with the cheapest and most pedestrian lettuce on Earth, iceberg. Added to that was a few slices of cucumber and tomato. When I say a few I mean 2 to 3 slices at the most. To top it off they gave us the wrong dressing also. The black bean burger was good but was thin and didn't rise above the ones you can buy frozen at CostCo. It's surprising that a restaurant that states they are providing food that is "better for you" is serving up a lame iceberg salad. I'd rather have a salad at il Vicino a couple doors down. New burger joint in the heights!! My grandmother and I love to try new places so we saw a article in the paper and it was a must try with vegan options!! We both ordered burgers she ordered the original and I had the black bean. We were both satisfied with our burgers. She ordered the half and half fries and she said they weren't that great. We then ordered a milkshake each her the regular vanilla and myself the vegan chocolate. Both were tasty but they need bigger straws. The atmosphere was great! Great modern decor with a twist. Quite possibly the best burger I've had in Abq, and that was on opening day! It's only gonna get better I'm sure. Reminded me A LOT of a Shake Shack burger, which is the highest burger compliment I can give as Shake Shack in NYC is my absolute all-time favorite burger!!! Had a double green chile cheeseburger with chipotle mayo and it was freaking incredible. So incredible in fact that I might just go back tonight for dinner! Got the regular and sweet potato fries as well, which were both excellent. Probably preferred the sweet potato fries just a tad more. Also had a chocolate milk shake (per their suggestion) and it was totally amazing. Talked to the owner a bit and said he's really trying hard to get all his employees to focus on quality above all else. Said he's trained them to toss food if they wouldn't eat it rather than serve it to a customer. Almost unheard of in the restaurant biz, but REALLY refreshing. They're also working on getting local beer in there in the coming weeks, which will be SOOOO nice! Not enough restaurants up here serve local beer, so can't wait for that.
