Yep, you wouldn't normally expect that from a place called Grassburger. Now, you know. A little secret just for you, just from reading a Yelp review. And since you are going for the fries, might as well get a burger with that. Don't worry, they aren't made of grass, as the name seems to imply, though I can't pretend to know what is in the vegan burgers. The beef burgers are great! Nice and thick and seriously seasoned. PLUS, they have gluten-free buns! A double bonus! And they are very good at managing allergy issues. I only have about 3 burger places that I love in town and Grassburger is one of them! This has quickly become one of my favorite spots for Albuquerque's Westside. I love the fries, they are always so crispy and seasoned perfectly. Initially, I was a fan of the cheddar bacon burger, but I have recently tried their burger bowls and they have been AMAZING. So full of flavor and fresh ingredients. If you like beef, you'll more than likely know that grass fed beef tastes so much better. When I saw this place I knew I had to try it. The bread was soft and the burgers were large and filling. The fries were nice and crispy, just the way I like them. It's a bit pricy but that's the cost of grass fed beef. The customer service was great and the staff was friendly. Heading home last night from church, and the wife was hungry. We chose Grassburger since she is an absolute fan of burgers, and this place is less than a minute from home. Only the second time we have eaten here, since the first visit was underwhelming - but second chances and all that. A mistake. After 40 minutes of wait time (they were somewhat busy, but there was ample time for employees to stand around and cut up with each other) we watched as a server took a tray with at least 4 meals on it to a table where one man who was also the last one seated was sitting. After some confusion she returned to the kitchen, had a discussion with someone then took the tray to the table where 4 were sitting. Still had to go back to the kitchen as something wasn't right on the order. I'm not sure that the table markers they hand the customers are used by the servers to identify clients. She came to our table next, and the food looked amazing. Wife had a green Chile burger, and I had a green Chile bowl with two patties (having learned before that the patties are smallish, 1/4 lb). Nothing wrong with that, I knew I needed two for my appetite. They cook the patties smashburger style (think Freddie's) which is usually very quick and produces a juicy burger with great Mailliard crust for flavor, but not this time. Our patties were burnt crispy, dry, and strangely- cold. Or at best lukewarm. Same with the fries, warm not hot. I think the idea is good, as a concept. Execution is lacking, and service was indifferent. Something is off, at least at this location. Unfortunately I don't think it was just a bad night. We will not be back. read more

I love the idea of this joint. Grass fed beef is what we all should be eating. I got the green chile jack burger & it was ok, the bun got a little soggy after awhile but maybe that means I'm eating too slow. Whatever the case may be, that was something I did not like. Other than that, the quality of the ingredients was good. The soda machine was super cool, I haven't seen SoBe water in forever & they have it. Big disappointment. I ordered a Green Chile cheeseburger and regular fries to go. I live five minutes away. What really got me was the cost of the fries and how tiny was the portion. $3.75 plus tax for fries the size of a small McDonald's fries. Really, Grassburger? Almost four bucks for fries in a paper sleeve that holds about 20 fries? The burger was ok, but the bun was a soggy mess after a five minute drive home. So, almost $12 for a soggy burger and fries that wouldn't feed a five year old. What a ripoff. UPDATE: The owner contacted me and sent a coupon for a free dine in burger meal. So I dined in and it was so much better than my first experience. The burger was delicious, and the fries were crisp and plentiful. The soda choices are awesome, with vanilla cream being my favorite. Would have gave it 5 stars, if the meat wasn't so dang greasy and if it had arrived hot! We did not eat it there but next door at the tap room, maybe it sat for a few before being delivered??? Upon opening the wrapper, I found a half soggy bun and a puddle the size of a half dollar of grease. The ingredients were fantastic, beside swimming in grease, you could taste the freshness of the lettuce, cheese, bun, etc. It maybe grass feed, but it has got to be the bottom of the barrel grade meat. I was very impressed with how tasty the burgers are here. My husband had the Chedda Bacon burger and he thought the burgers were juicy and not greasy. What he likes best was their signature chipotle sauce. I went for the vegan black bean burger and I loved it! It's a juicy black bean patty with all the fixins. The fries are awesome and fresh. We went to the westside Grassburger for Father's Day. The plan was to drink beer at the excellent LaCumbre and run some food from Grassburger over to LaCumbre to eat. Grassburger's first impressions were great: greeted pleasantly by a friendly young man, scanned a clean, well-appointed seating area. We ordered the Green Chile Jack Bowls with Grassburgers and shared an order of fries (all to go). We received our order HOT in all cardboard (not styrofoam) containers. Thumbs WAY up. I don't want to see styrofoam anything and that would reduce by a star. The Bowls were superb. Reasonably priced and a large serving. The quinoa/rice/cabbage mixture was flavorful and crunchy. The sauce was so tasty, green chile was hot in temperature and the burger perfectly cooked and spiced. I was full 3/4 through and the meal stuck to my ribs. I came back to try the non-dairy shake. Nice, and no stomach disruptions later. We moved over to the westside from the NE Heights. Up to today, we've been disappointed overall with the quality and choice of good eating places. I've had Grassburger to-go twice now and have been disappointed both times. It's not a cheap burger by any means and to me it's not worth the price. The meat is dry, and the burger on a whole was not flavorful. Also this is a personal preference but the menu is too simple especially since they haven't perfected the simple cheeseburger. The fries are also nothing special they were kinda cold and limp by the time I got them, and not very flavorful. When doing take-out (as I always do) it's not reasonable to 'go back' to complain and correct but If I ever patronize this place again I'll take apart every item to make sure the correct type of meat and the correct number of Pattie's has been included in each sandwich (because...usually not). After that, while I poured my drink, my party and I got to watch and listen while he berated his team members, cussed at them, told them he would be doling out write-ups for any little mistake, because he couldn't afford any negative Yelp reviews.
