Really just "not good". Long after I ordered my Ribeye steak, the waitress returned to our table and informed me they were out. (Out of steak? Really?). So I picked the Philly Cheesesteak with onion petals. The plate delivered to my table was not appetizing. The Philly Cheesesteak was served on a hamburger bun! It had very little meat, and one SLICE of un-melted, cold white cheese -- not at all what a Philly Cheesesteak is supposed to look like. The first bite? It was cold, and dry, and needed salt. Far from good. Ya know something? A Philly cheesesteak is supposed to have grease that runs down your arm and drips off your elbow... The onion petals were undercooked, soggy, and cold. The breading was beer batter and tasted good. My wife liked her crab omelette and wanted to give me a bite. I immediately recognized the "crab" as IMITATION CRAB!!!! I couldn't believe it!!! (I didn't tell my wife because I didn't want to spoil her experience -- so let's just keep that secret between us, okay?) OMG OMG OMG BREAKFAST WAS AMAZING!!! we had this place on our list before we flew out and it didn't disappoint! There were 8 of us!! We had a couple orders of the cinnamon roll French toast - the kids loved it!! We had a Vaquero...yummy! Pancakes, bacon, fried potatoes extra crispy and biscuits and gravy were also very very good - highly recommend. Finally one person had the cowboy skillet - it was great, she loved it! This seemed to be the must-do breakfast in town. Just the mention of Granny's name elicited plenty of "oh, you'll love it"s from the college crowd, so how could I pass it up? Our first attempt was thwarted by the huge crowd waiting for seating a couple of weeks ago, but that's what you get when you show up at a popular breakfast joint at 11am on a Saturday. Second attempt with a 9:45am arrival was a success but they wouldn't seat us without the whole party of 6. Fortunately, it didn't take too long to get a table. The waiting area is large and spills over into a second room. There's also an apparel/gift shop area near the hostess stand that's worth browsing if you like the Granny-motif designs used throughout the menu. Food was great and service was better. Our waitress has been working there a while and knows how to work the table. The Cattle Drive Omelet, with 6 eggs and 8 you-pick-'em ingredients, was enough to split with my college kid. No complaints around the table but a couple of the teens couldn't finish off the large portions. With two shared plates and coffee or juice for all, the $66 bill (with tip) seemed pretty reasonable. read more

The food, service, And ambiance are amazing! You can tell from your first view if the interior that you are in for a down home meal. And it doesn't disappoint those expectations. We were seated inside the first time and on the patio the second time. The service was equal both places. Even outside, the service was quick and friendly. I had the breakfast sandwich the second time, and OMG, it was delicious! The ciabatta was fresh and was a perfect "housing" for the perfectly cooked ingredients inside. Fantastic find!!! This is somewhat new location for this historic place. They have only been in this location 18 months. It's big open clean and the food is almost as good as the service. They are only open till 3pm but have full bar and offer private event space. Don't miss the basement dinning area as well. read more

One it was room temperature and the biscuit tasted weird maybe old. I know I was on the patio but even the biscuit weren't warm so I knew it wasn't a hot dish. It was just all wrong my eggs came on the side plate with a side of oil as a garnish. The potatoes were good but wasn't much to it flash fried and salted. Based on the food a point five. I preface this by saying that I love granny's, and I've been coming here for 5 years now. It was always a staple while I was in undergrad, and I love coming back to grab a bite on Sunday mornings before getting on the road. However, this last experience was just disappointing. Everyone expects to wait 45 min for a table on a weekend morning, that's fine. We also waited over 45 minutes for our food and no refills. Our server was nice, I just felt like she was spread thin. My "pig biscuit" was delicious and just how I remembered it. My friends "cowboy skillet" was so sad looking... onions and peppers weren't even cooked and we noticed the breakfast potatoes have also changed taste and cut. Every time I go the staff is AMAZING and soo kind, even when it's packed the wait isn't too long and it's consistently good food.

First of all I find this little restaurant that my family recommended. I had the chicken fried steak two eggs over easy and biscuits and gravy. The food and the waiting staff were excellent. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that it took forever to get a refill on coffee. Don't let coffee go anywhere close to empty. Even if you're busy, check regularly on your coffee drinkers. I feel like it's almost pointless to post a review because everyone knows this place is amazing. So many options. Eggs any way you want them. The cinnamon roll is amazing and huge. The skillets are my favorite. Great prices and great food. They used to be super cramped but have expanded over the years and can handle the amount of customers they get. Still a wait though but well worth it. I wish they had had WiFi when I was in college so I could study and drink coffee there during the not so busy week days. I miss this place so much. Grand girl an I ate a granny's 1/11/21. They were very busy but didn't take long to get seated.our waitress was out standing easy to talk to! Everything went real good right up to the part I started to eat my French toast an it was only cooked on one side with raw egg on the other side, still not bad , but that's not how I like it! This used to be the best place to go for breakfast and lunch. NOT ANYMORE!!! So we went on Wednesday morning three of us and we ordered relatively easy food nothing complicated. We were 1 of 3 tables there at the time it was early. I got oatmeal and side order of breakfast sausage patties I don't know how it's even possible but the patties came out black charcoal and cold. How does that even happen? My friends biscuits and gravy were cold as well they had to take it back to heat it up in the microwave. The owner was kind enough to offer us a coupon for a free meal in the future. Second attempt to get good food and maybe decent service is that too much to ask? Apparently so. So this time with the free coupon we went today Sunday morning in between the before church and after church rush. We were seated really fast things are already looking good. ( short lived) we get seated in the basement it's done really nice o like it better than upstairs I'm hopeful this is going to be a great visit. The girl comes takes our drink order and I ask for vanilla and hazelnut creamer only. She comes back with a cup of mixed creamer with 1 vanilla and 1 hazelnut. I ask again for the two flavors only. She disappears for about 15 minutes by this point we have been out of coffee and 5 people have walked by us giving others coffee. Eventually she comes back takes our order she has to ask me three times what I ordered simple bowl of oatmeal nothing hard. She turns to walk away and we ask about coffee if she can refill our cups she looked surprised we would ask. She disappeared again after getting our coffee. We again end up with empty mugs our server no where to be seen once more. We don't get coffee till our food comes 15-20 minutes later. We even sat our cups at the edge of the table. We once more watch the tables along the wall get drinks and coffee refill right away. Our food comes out and my oatmeal looks old and dehydrated she sets our food down and starts to walk away again I look at my husband in disbelief he stops her to ask again for coffee. I then start trying to rehydrate my oatmeal and realizing I don't have butter. I think butter is pretty standard for oatmeal but this waitress I guess did not. We try to find her and wait and wait. About five minutes later she walks past we ask for butter she repeated it like she was irritated because she said it's going to be a bit because it's upstairs. She came back later with the butter does not ask at anything everything is ok or if we need anything. We gave up on coffee refill at this point. But extra napkins or straws for our water would have been nice. She comes back with our check and she looks irritated we had the coupon she just grabbed it and left. Overall summary here: Granny's used to be a amazing place to go. I remember when the biscuits were real and fresh they were smaller but amazing. The gravy was great. Service was above excellent. Ahhhh the good days I miss them. But the might dollar has ruined a once exceedingly amazing restaurant. Now a shell of its former glory its not worth the aggravation. Till they remember quality over quantity it's a mediocre restaurant at best if even that. They have forgotten quality control and good customer service. The one good thing is the owner is still a very nice man hence the 1 star im giving it. read more
