I am wrapping up my kitchen renovation but I wanted to take a moment to post a note here. I started the process at the end of last year. I was given a referral for a countertop company from my cabinet refinishing contractor. Because I trusted this professional and have seen his beautiful work, I fell confident going with his recommendation. The job turned into a disaster quickly. The marble was cracked in multiple places. The pieces were mismatched and I had so many seams, it looked like a patchwork quilt. I was so disappointed. However, that little drama had to go on the back burner, pun intended, as I had other jobs lined up behind the countertop install. Cabinet refinishing, trim work and flooring could not begin until the counter issue was resolved. I called three new companies to come out for a quote. Matt's company was right in the middle for pricing but about $700 less than my original job. He sent me to Aracruz to look at stone. Still unsure of who to choose, I went down to look. I spent the morning with Jaque who was more helpful than anyone I have ever met. She really made me feel better in the wake of it all and deserves a 5 star of her own. Everyone I came into contact with at that company was delightful. They had all seen something that had been done by Granite Dude and were impressed with the finally results. Many had used Granite dude in their own homes or the homes of family members. I believed that to be a positive sign. I decided to go with Granite Dude and although I felt nervous I believed Matt would take care of business. He did exactly that. I installed a farm sink. He came by after to make sure it was done right and would not cause problems for my stone. On the day of installation, his team not only took the time to help me do the final securing of that monster sink, they took extra time to resolve a leveling issue with the cabinets. Apparently, they were off 1/4" and likely the reason for much of the cracking that occurred in the previous install. But how was the final product? Beautiful! I couldn't be happier. Not only did they all make my kitchen look lovely but they made me feel at ease throughout the process. This is not your normal contractor. I could go on and on about the completely wonderful experience I have had - 2 times now - with Matt the Granite Dude. Several years ago he did my 2 bathrooms with granite countertops including the sink purchase. From start - meeting Matt for the first time, picking out the granite (with much needed guidance from Matt) to finish - the perfect installation of the beautiful granite and sinks - it was an absolutely wonderful experience. I returned to Matt this month for my kitchen granite countertops. I purchased new cabinets through a 'big box' retailer and though the cabinets are truly beautiful, the cabinet installation morphed into a terrible, terrible experience, especially due to a gross measurement miscalculation of my corner sink configuration. I don't even know where to begin about the AMAZING job Matt and company pulled off again. Matt again helped me pick out the granite (thanks Matt for your patience and guidance with my indecisiveness). He beat the big box subcontractor price almost 20%. He beat the time to install close to 58%. And the installation was as close to almost seamless as possible. Due to the big box incorrect corner sink cabinetry measurements, Matt's granite installers had to do some cutting of the inside cabinet skins and reinforce the sink area. The installers and Scott did not even bat an eye with that cabinet hitch. They knew exactly what to do to make it totally right - no angst, no additional cost, no worries, no whining. They just got-r-dun. What the cabinet installation company should have done, the Matt's granite installers accomplished beautifully - at the sink and the entire kitchen. Granite dude is the best. From start to finish Matt and his team made the whole experience fantastic. My wife and I had decided to upgrade to granite counter tops in out kitchen but we had no idea where to even begin. Matt was recommended to me by the painter that is refinishing our cabinets. I called Matt on a Wednesday and he agreed to meet us at the slab supplier that Saturday. we met him at the warehouse and he gave us all the information we needed to pick out the right slabs for us. He was very patient with us, gave us all the time we needed and answered all of our questions. One of his team came to our house the following Monday to take all the measurements. Ten days later they came out to install our new countertops. I spent many years in the construction business and let me just say, I have never seen a crew that was more meticulous at thier work, in any trade, than these guys were at my house today. After seven months of working with another granite contractor, who ended up leaving us high and dry - with our kitchen demo'd but no countertops, the Professional at Granite Dude came to our rescue and created a beautiful kitchen in a very short turnaround time. The guys were great, professional, and knowledgeable. We had a team of three people working with us, helping us pick out a slab of granite, the sink, and they took care of all the details. Matt and his crew at Granite Dude are hands down the best contractors I have ever worked with! They were on time or early for every single appointment, professional, friendly, and do extremely high quality work. I have worked with many contractors, in three different homes, and if I ever need any additional work done, Granite Dude will be the first phone call I make. Typically, I have found contractors to be difficult to reach, always late, and in a hurry to get the job done and get paid, rather than focused on quality. Matt is the polar opposite!! He is very knowledgable, but doesn't pressure you. I went with Matt, the owner of the Granite Dude, for several reasons. First he responded with a conditional quote in about an hour. I had called four other companies of which only two of the four sent a quote. The other two companies were so disorganized I never received a quote. The finalized quote which had an additional countertop and sink was still cheaper than the other two quotes. We picked the granite slabs out on a Friday. Matt sent his fabricator to layout the countertops on the following Monday. The finished countertops were install that Friday. The two workmen Matt sent were at our house at the time promised. Both men were professional and courteous the seven hours they were in our house. The installation process went as smoothly as can be expected when retrofitting an house built in 1987. The workmen were very clean during the installation process. They cleaned any waste material, dusted and sealed the new countertops. I am very happy we decided to use Granite Dude. I would recommend them to anyone wanting new countertops installed in their home. read more

Granite Dude did an excellent job on my kitchen countertops. They weren't the cheapest but they weren't the most expensive quote that I got. However, I chose them because of all of their good reviews. They live up to everyone of their reviews! Matt is very professional and always answered calls or returned them quickly. They were on time and did an AWESOME job on the installation!!! I could not be happier with the outcome of my project. As to save money I did the demolition of the old countertops and asked Matt to give me about a weeks notice so I would have plenty of time to remove the old countertop. He was very prompt with this request. The installers took their time and did a very precise job with the installation. My experience with granite dude was positive from start to finish. Steve came to my house to give me an estimate, and he took the time to explain everything and explain the costs. The estimate included everything: labor, materials, taxes, demo, etc. In other words, there were no hidden costs -- he was super transparent. Steve also came with me to pick out my slab of granite, which was extremely helpful, as if I went alone, I believe it would have been overwhelming to traverse the variety of granite available in the warehouse. We are moving through a two stage project (kitchen and then bathrooms) at our vacation home in Scottsdale. I have to say that Steve and his team have been excellent. They have been really responsive and worked around our tight schedule. Steve met with us when he was supposed to be off during the holidays! We had some challenges with our project that the team dealt with professionally even though it was actually separate from their work. So we appreciated the hands on approach to all aspects of the kitchen project, which is now complete. I look forward to working with them in the next few months as we do the bathrooms.
