This is a top-tier Pittsburgh bakery in my opinion. I really enjoy the cakes here. There's something about the frosting that is so light and delicious. It's kind of a cross between a whipped cream and buttercream. They have a great assortment of pastries, cookies, cakes and more. Today I bought a Memorial Day cake but seriously considered adding the babka bread, which looks like a long danish. I inquired about the chocolate one and was told it was filled with chocolate and hazelnut. Next time for sure. I can often find an easy parking space around the bakery but if not there is a lot across the street, make sure to still pay via the Go Mobile PGH app. The individual cupcakes are piled high with frosting and so decadent. I also find prices here very fair. They have also recently added a little section to the store with Pittsburgh souvenirs for anyone on Mount Washington visiting the city. The interior is a little dim and dated and could use a refresh imo but the treats are first rate. Pro tip, if you are on the Too Good 2 Go app, they frequently offer a surprise box of leftover pastries from the day. Several years ago, I rated Grandview Bakery as 3 stars, but based on my recent visit, I will increase my rating to 4 stars. Grandview Bakery was founded in 2011. Their website says that they have over 100 items on their menu and that *some* items can be made gluten-free. During my visit this past weekend, I struggled to find a parking space that was close to the bakery, so I ran into the store while my husband looked for parking at a nearby lot. In the bakery, I saw one display case that was filled with cookies (e.g., thumbprints, kolaches, chocolate chip, lemon cranberry, sugar, turtle, pumpkin, pecan cherry, and peanut butter) and one display case that was filled with cakes (e.g., chocolate, strawberry, and red velvet) and cupcakes (e.g., burnt almond, pumpkin spice, maple bacon, carrot, nutella, and tiramisu). Two other display cases were filled with sweet breads, muffins, pies, donuts, macaroons, brownies, eclairs, etcetera. The prices were reasonable and ranged from about $1 for a kolachi to $38 for a non-custom cake. I waited a few minutes to order because a group of young girls was ahead of me in line. The employee behaved very patiently with the girls as they figured out how to pay for their purchase. I selected four items--one large ladylock, one snickerdoodle cookie, one apricot kolachi, and one pecan roll--and the total price was less than $8! The employee carefully packaged my treats in a box, and she called me "sweetie" and thanked me. The bakery had lots of space, tables, and chairs, but I chose to eat my treats at home. I rate the ladylock as 5 stars, the snickerdoodle as 4.5 stars, the apricot kolachi as 5 stars, and the pecan roll as 3 stars (slightly bitter). read more

A friend & I stumbled into here while exploring Pittsburgh and the inclines/scenic overlooks. Immediately everything in the display cases looked amazing - it was so hard to choose! I ended up picking out a slice of cookie cake, buckeyes, a cake pop, then a cannoli and cheesecake cookie to give to my dogsitter. My friends chose a thumbprint cookie, mini cannoli, mini eclair, and a sprinkle cookie. Every single thing we picked tasted so good! I only took a picture of 1 display case but there were 5. 4 were completely full of treats and the 5th had donuts which had mostly sold out already. There were full coffee cakes and sweet breads, cupcakes and cakes, cookies, all sorts of other baked goods. The lady behind the counter was so nice as we took our time choosing and seemed to enjoy that we both asked her to keep an item out for an immediate snack. I was a bit disappointed no greeting when I walked in and the server was not as friendly as I would have hoped. As far as bakeries go Grandview had a ok selection to choose from. I got an eclair and a peanut butter bar. They where both ok nothing more, Definitely not the best I have had as far as pastries go. I had two recent wonderful experiences working with Tiffany from Grandview Bakery! I was very specific with flavors and decor and they really delivered both times. For a friends baby shower, I got a small cake with a jungle theme and the inside was yellow with a strawberry jam and their vanilla buttercream. I provided some images that they printed on edible sheets. Everyone thought the cake was delicious and so adorable. I reached out shortly afterwards for a cake for my daughter's second birthday. Similar theme but girly. The flavor was yellow with chocolate chips and a layer of chocolate ganache filling with their vanilla buttercream icing. It too was a big hit! Once again, the flavors were so great. I would highly suggest working with Grandview for your special occasion cake needs. They do a wonderful job. They have a good selection from donuts to pastries to cookies to cupcakes to beautiful fun full cakes. Their cupcakes are delicious. They had pre-packaged cupcakes that were decorated for Easter - which were perfect for bringing to work. They were so fun and my coworkers loved them! The frosting was delicious. While sitting there for a few minutes to finish up our visit, we saw 3 mice run across the front of the room, inches from where we were sitting.
