Looking for a quick take out or delivery pizza to feed anywhere from 1-4 people? Look no further than Grandad's. I was in a pinch, out of groceries, yet too lazy to go to the grocery store. I decided to try Grandad's Pizza because they had sizes adequate for one person. Where most pizza joints may offer the traditional small, medium or large, Grandad's offers a 7", 10", 12", 14", or 16". All for reasonable prices at that. In addition to pizza, they offer wings, strombolis, salads and sandwiches. I called ahead and ordered the 'Works' which is their take on a supreme pizza -- pepperoni, sausage, onions, green peppers and mushrooms. Grandad's shares a building with Byrne's pub and they both share a parking lot. The inside isn't much -- an ordering counter, a couple of drink coolers, and a bench to sit at if you are waiting for take out. My pizza was ready before the quoted 15 minutes. I'm a huge fan of the thin crust, however found the pizza was fairly average. Not bad, but not great. Honestly, exactly what I was expecting. The crust had a nice crunch, but I felt it could have been kept in the oven a bit longer to make the toppings more crisp. That said, I would definitely order it again. read more

Cons: There wasnt enough sauce. I would have liked to get a robust taste of the sauce!! Iffy: Im iffy on the thin crust. The flavor of the crust was unique but I cant put my finger on why. The crust had a nice crisp to it though. It was not overly crunchy or overly soft. Definitely try it if you like thin crust pizza. Overall, I was not in love with the pizza. I'm not a big thin crust pizza person and it seems that they specialize in thin crust (I guess I should have payed attention). This is not a dig on them, this is more-so my own preference. read more

It's like Donatos but cheaper and better. $13.95 will get you a large one topping pie so it's a pretty solid deal. They also have hot toasted subs and juicy sauced up wings on the menu. There's no inside seating at Grandad's but Byrne's Pub is right next door. Bring your pie in with you or order from the bartender and they'll bring it over to your table, hot, fresh and ready to eat. Grandad's has been in business for over 25 years which makes it a true Columbus Classic. Had a short stint in grandview and took advantage of trying a new local pizza place. Boy am I glad I did!!! This pizza has a thin cracker crust, plenty of toppings and a great tasting sauce (I think I event got a hint of spice from it). Sausage was almost sweet but went great with everything else. I'm not sure if I just got there after my pizza had been sitting for a bit but because of how thin it was it had started to get soggy, even after asking for it well baked. Even so it tasted great and I was pleased. If they had done-in I would try again to see if I can get it fresh from The oven. I will definitely be back when in the area. read more

Now, this pizza is thin crust and is cut in rectangles, not triangles. I like it this way because I can eat smaller pieces. That being said, I've only eaten pizza like this in Ohio so maybe it's a Midwest thing? Either way you slice it, this pizza is damn goooood! Okay, Okay... I know what you're thinking. How good can a plain cheese pizza actually be? Well for starters the sauce was on point. It was very "tomatoey" and was just ever so slightly sweet. I don't mind that all when it comes to pizza sauce. The savory cheese was super melty and cheesey. It definitely hit the spot for my friends and I. Overall, this pizza was extremely affordable, tasty, and their customer service was top notch. Due to a glitch in the Yelp ordering system the pizza I originally received was incorrect. I've driven by this many times and decided it was time to give it a go! I got a small Buffalo chicken pizza, pepperoni, and cheesy garlic bread. The cheesy garlic bread was amazing! I could eat the whole thing alone! The Buffalo chicken pizza was not my favorite. I felt like it was drowning in Buffalo sauce which made it hard to hold. and the chicken was too big of chunks. There was also a honey undertone that I wasn't a big fan of. The pepperoni pizza was super good and very cheesy! My biggest complaint was that we arrived when it said it would be finished and had to wait about 15 minutes. They were so busy though! We decided to try Grandad's because a friend highly recommended them and it was so good! We're from the Dayton area and love Marion's Pizza and this pizza was similar. The entire pizza was covered with pepperonis from edge to edge, but the cheese was lacking so next time we are going to do extra cheese. The garlic bread was extremely garlicky, but good! I've indulged in some Grandad's Pizza now several times and after having it more then a handful of times, my opinion of them has dropped slightly. My very first pizza from them was flavorful, crispy, gooey, and overall a delight, but after having it this past week with some friends, I found it to be a little bland and not up to par with other local pizzerias. At a time when new pizza joints are popping up all over, keeping up with the competition is harder and harder, especially for small mom and pop places. Grandad's has survived through the years, and I have no doubt they'll continue to do so, but they will need to up their game a little more. The actual, physical location isn't much to look at, but you're there basically to pick up the pie and enjoy it at home so I'm not factoring that into my rating. If you want to go sit down and enjoy a dinner someplace outside of your home, then there are plenty of other options. Now, given that you don't really have the sit down environment, the price is a little high for what you get. The quality is good and the ingredients seem to be fresh, it's a little hard to swallow a $18-$20 pizza that offers little fan fair. While I will continue to go to Grandad's for a pizza fix on occasion, I'm going to start looking for my next go to join. read more

I used to order Grandad's quite often because I liked the pizza. I moved back to Columbus and ordered it again and they completely delivered me the wrong pizza. So I called and they told me that they would bring the correct one to me. We ordered half sausage and onion and half banana peppers. They again delivered us a half sausage and half cheese pizza. I didn't even ask them to replace it but when I called to tell them they said just come by and we'll take care of you. So a month later I did and to my surprise the way I was treated was embarrassing and rude to say the least. It must have been the manager ( guy with red hair ) who belittled me in front of others yelling I was a scam and to never come back again. To do something like that in that manner must show how this operation works. I was told to come by whenever I could and they would "take care of me". Just to be belittled by this sad excuse of a company representative. Maybe something happened to him to make him say the insulting things he did today. But he did. I guess the moral is he told me to never come back and I will not. Just wanted others to know if they find themselves in a similar situation there, lick your wounds and do not even bother letting them know due to the risk of unprofessional language thrown at you. I've heard about how good their pizza was so I had to try it while I was staying in Grandview Heights. It was prepared quickly and really well. The staff was very nice & friendly and both pizzas we ordered were cooked perfectly and delicious. We ordered 10-inch pizzas and that was more than enough. It's so convenient for me to call ahead and walk on over to pick up. I also order their wings faithfully. They let you order flats or drums only and that really seals it for me. I've waited a long time to give my Five Star review of Grandad's. I wanted to make sure that I tried nearly every Grandview pizza before I gave one of them Five Stars. And every time I've ordered from another pizza place, I've thought "not as good as Grandad's"! I've tried many of Grandad's pizzas -- from the specialty list to just pepperoni (TONS of crispy pepperoni) and I have been super happy with all of them. My personal favorite is pepperoni with mushrooms and banana peppers. It's always baked perfectly with a very crispy crust and the right amount of sauce and cheese. The sauce is not too sweet.
