I looked up the hours for GR Cheesecake on y phone & it said they closed at 6. .I was super bummed because I work until 6 & I needed a cheesecake for that day! I decided to call just to make sure & it turns out the google info is wrong & they are open until 8. WOOHOO!! The lady who answered the phone was super nice, I asked if they had a turtle cheesecake & she told me they had 2 sizes and the prices. The large was $28. I stopped in to get it & she had put it in a bag in the freezer to make sure nobody else bought it before I got there!! That was so awesome! I thought the cheesecake rocked! They are just mediocre at best. Silverware is hit or miss if clean. It's Just convenient at the mall. Ate lunch and purchased a cheesecake recently. Brought cheesecake home to share with family. It makes me laugh/cringe how many reviews on both Yelp and Google for this business are for the chain Cheesecake Factory instead of this small local take-out only business. I was having a really hard time finding a dessert option to take to a carry-out that was a. local and b. open for pick-up on a Monday. I finally used the power of the internet and found this hidden gem. It was crazy easy to reserve a cheesecake online a couple days in advance and then pick up on the day I needed it. I had to pay a couple of dollars to get it sliced and it was frozen, so I'm glad I wasn't headed straight to my party, but overall, it was exactly what I needed. I tried some the next day after it thawed and wasn't overly impressed with the flavor (ordered pumpkin for a Thanksgiving event) so I don't know how often I'll return, but they helped me out when I had limited options so I am thankful. read more

I have been purchasing our family's birthday cheesecakes from GR Cheesecake since they opened in their original location on Plainfield. I was disappointed when I went last week to purchase a cheesecake for my son and found that the people working in the store did not wear masks. Even after I entered the store and they saw I had one on, they made no effort to mask up. The workers had no idea what health issues a customers might have or of the people they live with. I ordered a Butterfinger cheesecake for my husbands bday. I thought I would treat him with a local fresh cheesecake made to order. I was wrong! I paid $32.00 for a FROZEN cheesecake. Yes. FROZEN! I called as soon as I got home, I was told that it was made fresh and then delivered and frozen until sold. It would take 45 to 60 minutes to thaw. Very disappointed! I met with 2 different people including the owner with details about cheesecake for our wedding. Owner took the order for my cake and sheetcakes and did not write anything down!! I was supposed to receive a call about final price and confirmation, a week went by... No call! So I went to the store and found out there was no record or order made for my wedding. Strike 1. Strike 2 was the unorganized staff, no communication!! Strike 3 was on my wedding day, I was promised that my cake would be delivered in the morning.. 45 minutes before our cake cutting, no cake. Tried to call the company, no answer and I also recieved no calls from them. I am furious! My family was at meijer looking for cheesecake to serve at my wedding because of the no show cake. Finally having to wait for the cake cutting, cakes are delivered to our venue. The cheesecake was frozen and super difficult to cut, but looked exactly the way I wanted it. Not the delivery girl's fault, she got the wrong address and was lost. I verified this address twice! Beyond angry about this happening! Do not use for any events. Could not be more angry about this happening, so much unnecessary stress and drama added to my special day! Update: The owner was EXTREMELY hostile for me being upset and "bashing" his business. After 20 minutes of being scolded like a child, I hung up because I was extremely upset. He called me an immature brat and said that I needed to grow up over voicemails. I was so excited to try this place. I walked in, and you can't tell you are in a bakery at all. The cheesecakes are tucked away to the side. I came to this shop because online, all the flavors looked amazing. But sadly, I get there and only some flavors are available in the "slice" section. Also, the slices are ridiculously small. You get a larger slice of cheesecake at meijer! For $4 a slice, I would imagine something larger. And, I wasn't impressed with the flavors. I tried four different types. They were all bland and only tasted different due to the toppers. I will not be back to this place. Waste of money. read more
