My review is based solely on my current visit. My sister and I wanted to stop in just to sit and have a drink in the bar area. We made that clear with the host. The bar area had plenty open seating. The problem was no one to clean it. We waited I must say about 15 minutes to be called. The host begins to take us to the restaurant area. Someone is not paying attention to details. They ask us to wait again. The bar area still is not being cleaned. Finally, people leave opening up the bar seating, and we take that. This is bad restsurant management. We went to see a movie at the mall and decided to go to Grand Lux before for a drink and some apps. We arrived a little after 3. We sat at a high top table near the bar so we didn't need to check in with the hostess. About five minutes after we sat down someone came over and gave us menus. We ordered red sangria that came in a wine glass and a cucumber lemonade. The sangria was good, nothing special, the cucumber lemonade was really good and unique. The waitress then brought us bread which is so good and so hard not to eat the whole load! For food we ordered the asian nachos and the fried zucchini sticks. For the three of us, that was more than enough food! The asian nachos are delicious, they have a slightly spicy peanut sauce on them and also come with some fried rice in the middle. The fried zucchini sticks were really good and you tasted the zucchini. However, the sauce that it came with was poor and just tasted like mayo. I was in an experimental mood and tried it with their version of Thai peanut sauce but it was way too watery. Since this one literally seems no different even though it is in a different state and years later in time I am going to largely copy my review of the Sunrise one here: Upon entering the place I thought I was the only one thinking--did this place used to be a Cheesecake Factory? Then everyone else in our group said the same thing. Well, looking it up everything makes sense now: The Cheesecake Factory, Inc. is an American restaurant company and distributor of cheesecakes based in the United States. The company operates 220 full-service restaurants: 206 under The Cheesecake Factory brand, 13 under the Grand Lux Cafe brand, and one under the RockSugar Southeast Asian Kitchen brand. So, anyway, I am not sure what the menu differences are, but it all feels that same with the familiar large menu of offerings. For a medium-sized group we all seemed to be happy with what we ordered for lunch. Finally had the pleasure to dine here with a friend. We came on a Sunday early afternoon. There were a few groups but it wasn't extremely crowded. The atmosphere was a nice Sunday brunch type of ambiance. We were quickly seated and our drink orders taken. Just remember that Bergen county does not sell alcohol on Sundays. In this case, we got there at 11 and wasn't able to order mimosas. Waiter did say after 12 it would be possible. Yet, we opted not ordering drinks outside of coffee and tea. I've eaten at Grand Lux Cafe several times and always have a good experience. Most recently I ordered takeout for dinner and dined in the restaurant for brunch. For dinner I had the short ribs pasta and short rib tacos. Both were INCREDIBLE! I have been thinking about ordering them again almost everyday since that night. For brunch I had the caramel banana pancakes. The flavor and texture of the pancakes were great! Highly recommend if you want a sweet breakfast. The others in my party had chicken and waffles and chicken and french toast. Most enjoyed their meal, but one person said their French toast was a bit burnt and their chicken was a bit dry. Others in the party have eaten here many times and noted that the taste and quality of food can be inconsistent (hence why I removed one star). The service was great! Lets talk about this beautiful, spectacular Cafe. The interior is definitely hands down one of the best perspectives of this place. Its giving old modern fashion with its amazing vibrant colors. This place is amazing for its trio because is amazing for its breakfast, brunch, and evening dinners. The dress code is decent. Beautiful interior. My husband and I drove to the mall around 7:30pm on Valentines Day- we didn't have any previous plan or reservations. Upon parking in the lot and entering, there was a line of walk ins. We gave our number and we were told 20min. They called us back in less than 10min. We were seated by the window booth. I've been to Cheesecake Factories in the past, but never a Grand Lux Cafe. Friday night, my partner and I went to the Grand Lux Cafe at Westfield Garden State Plaza Shopping Center. In short, awesome time with a delicious meal, friendly service, and an upscale restaurant ambiance/experience. So nice! It was a spur-of-the-moment decision to have dinner here. We didn't have a reservation, so we thought we may end up going elsewhere if there was a wait. Fortunately, we were seated right away by a hostess at a two-person table lining the wall. We admired the high ceilings, lighting fixtures and chandeliers, and windows. I read later that the design is an amalgam of Italian, French, and Austrian styles. Our server Ethan C took care of us that night. He was attentive and checked in on us throughout our meal, and timed placing our baked-to-order dessert order so it came out at just the right time. (FYI - If you come here, one of the special things here are the baked-to-order desserts, along with a full-service craft bar). So here is what we ordered: - Mini Nachos (Despite the name, nachos were tasty, filling, and satisfying) - Mini Grand Lux Salad (Fresh, but as the name denotes - mini) - Island Burger with fries (I wanted to see what their pineapple slaw was about. Burgers are brought out open-face, so the patty is covered with carefully placed toppings. I enjoyed my burger - very satisfying.) - Veggie Burger with fries (My partner liked the veggie burger, saying the patty was made with fresh vegetables and seasoned well. It's a moist veggie burger on the inside with a light, crispy coating on the out.) - New Orleans Beignets (Whoa! This is worth the wait and much bigger than we thought it would be. Beignets were so soft and fluffy. Best eaten right then and there. We ate most there, but took a few in a box home. While it stayed, it wasn't as fluffy and delicious). - Key Lime Pie (Great presentation, and the pie stays if you take some home with you if you don't finish it all) I've read that there are only fourteen Grand Lux Cafes out there (compared to the 200+ Cheesecake Factory restaurants in the US and abroad). I'm glad I got to try Grand Lux. I would come back again. For me, this isn't a place I could go to regularly (it's more once in a while with company) but I've also heard Grand Lux Cafe also has a good happy hour here with both drinks and appetizers. Attended a party at this open hall catering venue. You rent it, decorate and clean it. The setup was very problematic with parking and the interior layout. Garden State Plaza has completed a ton of renovations to try to make the mall an upscale shopping & dinning destination, but Grand Lux has been around before for a long time and it's showing it's age. We sat at a high-top in the bar. The table's varnish peeling away and leaving a rough surface. Our server was very nice, but very busy. The bartender looked overwhelmed as well. She was alone to tend a full bar and make drinks for all the sat tables. It was 4:30pm on a weekday and there was a decent crowd. Service was incredibly slow - It took a while to get refills. Our food was well paced. We had time to pick at the bread, the appetizer came out and we finished it a bit before the entrees were served. The Buffalo egg rolls are piping hot and delicious. Crispy with great flavor. My husband said the Thai burger was interesting. A bunch of different flavors, but they tasted good together. He asked for medium, but the burger was very rare. I asked for medium as well and it looked like they cut into mine to check, but still undercooked it. We like burgers on the rare side, but always say medium because of exactly this. My avocado chipotle burger tasted great, but the huge chunks of avocado spilled everywhere. It was very hard to eat. They should change them to thin slices instead. Overall, if you have time to sit and hang out, Grand Lux is a decent place to grab a bite. I would probably choose Seasons 52 over returning here though. read more

We ordered: - mini cheese burgers - chicken avocado salad - kids Mac and cheese with apple juice - beignets Everything was tasty and good. The kid Mac and cheese came out really quickly - a good 15 mins before the other food came out. The chicken salad was very dressed and good, although there really isn't much chicken - only 2-3 thin slices. The mini cheese burgers were surprisingly good. As you can see from my prior reviews this was one of my favorites over the years for both lunch or dinner. I was here last year. Their menu is very extensive with many choices. You can always find something of interest on their menu. I returned here with my family of five twice for dinner recently. I will summarize both dinners here. On our first visit on a Friday we had to wait about 15 minutes for our table to be available. We had a nice booth near the kitchen area. I enjoyed my two blood orange martinis made with Tito's, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao and blood orange for $15. I also enjoyed my cafe beef wellington with an adequate number of filet mignon steak medallions properly cooked medium rare covered with crimini mushrooms and topped with warm puff pastry, served with madeira wine sauce, mashed potatoes and vegetables for $24.50. My dinner was quite filling. Everyone was pleased with their respective dinners. Trindell S. served us very well. My total bill was $224 less gratuity. After our dinner I bought a round of cocktails at their bar for my family and some friends, who arrived after our dinner. Seven of us dominated the empty bar. I enjoyed my Sam Adams seasonal draft beer for $8. Our bartender Miguel A. served us well. My total bar bill was $88 excluding gratuity. On our second visit on Saturday we had to wait about 45 minutes for our table. Our booth was on the furthest end of the room from the entrance. I enjoyed only one blood orange martini and their Jambalaya with shrimp and chicken for $22.50. I ordered white rice, but my Jambalaya was served with brown rice. I did not complain. Everyone was pleased with their respective dinners. Zanaya L. served us very well. My total bill was $175 less gratuity. Overall we were all pleased with our respective dinners both times.
