I found my new favorite HK cafe for lunch specials! Good experience. Great prices. I will be back soon. My husband wanted to check out a new restaurant so he found this place through Yelp. Good location right next to Target. I am shocked to see these kind of prices in the Bay Area! And food is made to order too.... Not your usual cafeteria food (like the Panda Express next door). This is a Hong Kong style cafe with authentic Chinese homey dishes that we love. I knew we found gold when I overhear an older Chinese lady telling her Chinese friend that they had recently discovered this place and really like it. And the typo on the wall saying "tree for Dine in customers only" is additional proof that this place is legit authentic... I mean, all authentic Chinese restaurants that I know of have mis-spellings on the menu . The sizzling rice is very impressive... let it crunch up a bit before you pour in the sauces so that there are more crispy bits! For $10.75 you get a meal with a bowl of soup and a drink. What a great deal. My husband got the beef chow fun. That was good too. I saw lots of people ordering noodles and porridge, so I will try those next time. So many choices! It is self service. You order, pay, and they assign you a number. 10-20 minutes later they will call your number and you go to the counter to pick up your tray of food. You can add sauces from the sauce counter if you'd like. When you are done, place your tray with dishes on the return tray station. The place is very clean too. Unlike some places in Chinatown where tables are sticky, the tables and chairs here are in good shape. I didn't have to wipe down any the surfaces.

Ordering was overwhelming lol it is easier for you to decide what you want and then tell the cashier the numbers of the order. Depending on what time you go, they may run out of certain items. Everything is very fairly priced and affordable. We waited about 25 minutes for food. Porridge was good and I got it with the chinese fried donut and it was so good and crispy. The beef chow fun was good too - not too oilly or salty. The cilantro rice roll is okay. I forgot what meat came with it. I used the rice roll sauce to dip the chinese donut in and then dipped it in the porridge.. best combo of flavor lol When you order, you get a complimentary hot soy milk, coffee or tea. I got soy milk - no sugar added. You can also get a soda for just $1 each. The staff is nice and very overwhelmed so be patient. You order at the counter and sit and wait. So don't expect too much. Packing my leftovers, I had to ask for containers. I wish they just had everything to pack leftovers out for folks because I felt bad for bothering the staff when I needed a plastic bag or a container. They had one type of container/take out box out on the side for you, but I needed the specific container for porridge leftovers and a plastic bag. Parking had plenty in the lot. The restroom was okay. Honestly, I'd come back. Super affordable. Good quality food. Very HK vibe

Fried rice with bbq pork. They are generous with portions!

I sent my kids to pick up take out since I was craving congee. First of all the prices are unbelievable. Congee with century egg for $6 and fried rice for $10.75. These are normal portions that we would normally pay double for. Both items were tasty! My daughter also liked the shrimp dumplings and she's picky. They now take credit card payments so that's a plus! Go ahead and give it try. Hopefully as they become more popular the hours may extend.

A small family run business with affordable prices. Service is quick, by restaurant standards, clean, friendly and efficient. The menu is posted on the walls and you order by number at the counter. It might appear intimidating with many choices but it's not, take your time. You pick up your order when your order number is called and bus your dishes after your meal. like you do at IKEA. The menu choices are not extensive but there is surely something you will like and enjoy. Since the prices are so affordable , we like to try something different with our regular orders and all our meals there have be been good and fun. The only negative is the short hours (10:30 am to 2:00 pm Tuesdays through Sundays) and closed Monday and Tuesdays. Come support this family run business and try some tasty Chinese food and explore new dishes.

    #26 Shrimp dumplings $4.75

I finally stopped by this spot and got a couple items. I got shrimp dumplings and a pork w/ cilantro vermicelli roll. All made fresh, I had to wait 10 min for my food. The woman at the counter was very friendly and courteous. When you order look at the large menu on the wall and let them know which item number you want. The food goes nicely with some soy sauce and the hot chili crunch oil. I will definitely be back to try their other foods. The food reminds me of what you'd find in SF Chinatown. It seems to be a small family owned restaurant.

Love the no frills and a hustle and bustle shop. I actually don't even know if I'm using these terms correctly, but it's how I feel about this restaurant. You order at the counter and you are offered a fresh hot homemade soy milk, which was delicious! I heard good things about this place and I'm so happy to finally try it. The clay pot rice was fresh and delicious. It came with a soup. The fried dough sticks are one of our favorites. The dim sum here is also tasty. I'm sure everything here is delicious because every time I look at someone else's order I want to try it. I can't wait to come back to try more dishes!

Updated review. There are definitely some hits and misses. Some dishes were not as flavorful but it may be so that it is easier for older folks to eat. Things I would get again: Clay pot rice and congee. These dishes were flavorful and worth trying. Things I would not get again: The stir fried noodle dishes. The noodles did not have enough of the traditional "wok hei" or aromatic stir frying flavor to them. The thin noodles were soggy. The handmade soy milk is a very nice touch and complimentary with meals.

Beef cheurng fun (beef vermicelli menu item name)

This place is off the beaten path! It is in the same plaza as Target (next to AT&T). Great place for some Hong Kong Cafe style food with Dim Sum (we tried the rice noodle-cheurng fun, they called it "vermicelli" and lok bok goa). I did noticed they put cilantro in the cheurng fun (it's made to order so I was able to ask to omit that!) Prices are reasonable and they don't expect a tip because it's "get your own food and bust your own table" kind of place! Try it for yourself if you're looking for cheap Chinese food that's not greasy.

    Soy milk

I love this place! It's our 3rd time here during the weekend and the food is delicious for a late breakfast. Price is very reasonable, plus... there's no tip! They have free soy milk for all dine in. Best to get there earlier as the most recent time we went, they were running out of soy milk (around 11:45am). I like ordering their congee the most. Reminds me of the small shops in Hong Kong. My son loves their wonton and orders it every single time. You order first and then find a table. Once your order is ready, they will call your number to pick up your food. When you are done, they have a designated "tray return" area for you. Think IKEA food court. Extra sauce, water, seasonings, and to-go boxes are on the counter across from the "tray return". I also liked that their food is not oily or overly seasoned. If you want a stronger flavor, you may need to add them yourself. Owner and cashier were super friendly! Definitely our go to spot for Chinese breakfast now.

This is a fairly new place, so they still have some kinks to work out. Go early because they do run out of certain items if you come later. The service is a bit slow, but friendly staff. The place is clean, everyone puts away their own trays similar to IKEA. No tipping and prices are like pre COVID, very reasonable. Few things I ordered: 1. Pan Fried Noodles, until it is actually fried to crispy, I don't think I will order this again. 2. Beef Chow Fun, it's good but not oily enough (some people might like dry). 3. Wonton Noodles, this one I will definitely order again, the wontons tasted good. 4. Clay pot rice, I would order this again, a little salty after added some soy sauce into the mix, but the burnt rice, who doesn't love burnt rice. 5. The Cheung Fun (Shrimp Rice Noodles), was a little thick, but taste like Cheung Fun to me, so would order again. Ordered the Century Egg Pork Porridge and Chicken/Egg Fried Rice to go, didn't eat it yet. Have a little patience, everything is made to order, so it takes a little time, 10-15mins to get your food. They give you free Tea or Soy Milk and Soup with the meal. So everything only came out to about $76. Had I gone somewhere else, probably all that would've cost at least $120 with tips. For a family of 5, this is definitely a money saver. Overall, I will be back to try other items and do recommend place.

Grand Cafe -- honest, tasty, and they refuse tips! Delicious food, big portions, and very fair prices. The best part? They don't accept tips -- by choice. In a city where 18% is the norm, this is pure integrity. Service is still warm and fast. Support good people doing business the right way. 學阿和哥話齋又好食又抵食,尼檔嘢係食晏嘅最佳選擇。喺而家個個都搏懵焗人比18%貼士嘅時勢,佢竟然唔收貼士,尼種逆向思維直程係聰明到不得了。

A great pick me up spot for something refreshing, a caffeine fix, or something sweet!…read more My favorite here is the Chocolate Thunder! Be warned that the regular size comes with 2 shots of espresso and the large size comes with 4 shots of espresso. I recently started adding the strawberry foam to it and it elevated it so much. The strawberry foam is rich in taste and not too sweet so it balances out the chocolate and coffee perfectly. If I'm looking for something refreshing I go for the Sweet Basil or Pearfection. Both with an in-house made purée that add a great taste to the tea lemonades. They also offer add ons at an extra charge: chamoy, tajin, mango star jellies. They also have a variety of quesadillas that are made with a handmade flour tortilla and all pressed in a panini press which gives it a nice crunch. My favorite is the turkey one which comes with a jalapeño cheddar cream cheese that gives it a little kick. The pastries vary from day to day but if you see cinnamon rolls I suggest you get one! They're so fluffy and not too overly sweet like the typical ones. Staff is welcoming and friendly. They always answer questions and suggest different drinks/pastries depending on what you like. Located inside the community center with some seating available. There is a parking lot so parking is easy.

We added two shots of espresso for an extra kick. The thick mascarpone topping in the Tiramisu was next-level creamy and paired perfectly with the espresso. Next time we're definitely getting the Mexican Mazapán drink, now that we know it's gluten-free so my wife can enjoy it too. The pastries are just as worthy of the spotlight and worth a return trip on their own. The girls working there were super sweet and welcoming, which made the whole visit even better. A perfect little treat stop. I'll definitely be back!
