I've been here twice with my family and both times were Good food and good customer service.

I'm an East Coaster recently having moved to Seguin. There aren't too many things I can be proud of about the NJ/PA/NY area but I must've been spoiled food-wise. I can understand the crummy doughy non-Italian-tasting pizza in Texas (Chicago influence no doubt), but why can't y'all do good Chinese? I agree that there's a huge selection here and the service is about as friendly as any back in the Northeast, but I never tasted such bland Asian food. Store bought microwave Chinese has more pizzaz. I feel like I used an entire bottle of soy sauce in an effort to enliven my meal. Worst of all, the $20 plus tip price for one meal and drink was as much as a dinner in NYC. I will continue to search for good Chinese buffet, but this was certainly not to my liking. read more

I dont like leaving reviews for restaurants but today I absolutely have too. The food here was amazing when they first opened but now. Omg. Everything had a weird taste this time to the point where I didnt feel safe eating. I dont know what happend here but I won't be back. Not to mention a year ago I was chased out to my car for a tip when I tried to give a tip and they guy gave it back. I didn't write a review on that at the time because I was so astonished. But I hope they get back to great again . I wish no one to have a bad time eating here because I really hate giving it a one star. read more

Update: Aug, 2014 I'll have to admit after eating Thai and Lao food, my eyes have been opened to a more healthier style of Asian food. Why is it that every time I come here I don't feel good afterwards? It's because everything has a gloppy, sweet sauce, or is battered in tempura flour, or is so salted your blood pressure goes up. Today for the first time I ordered something off of the Mongolian grill. I chose beef, pork, and shrimp with some various vegetables, and I picked some garlic sauce and some spicy chili oil. It was stirred well and was light and delicious. My only complaint was there was no fish sauce, which absolutely makes a Thai dish. So, from now on the only thing I will come here for is the healthier options, which can only be found on the Mongolian grill, and not the regular line. Their sushi has been up and down lately to. I'm down to 4 stars now. Dec, 2013 Excellent quality of food including the sushi, which is made all day long by two sushi masters (there is a tip jar, so please give them a dollar). One of my favorite items, and I would go here just for them are cold boiled, large shrimp during lunch. They don't have much flavor seasoning wise, but dip them in some cocktail or soy sauce and they are wonderful. I will start off with a whole plate of them. I'll layer the bottom of my large plate with lettuce, then pile on the shrimp. Everyone is professional here, and the place caters to all of Seguin's cops and hospital professionals. The hot and sour soup is great and they have unique items like steamed buns with red mung paste and deep fried apple pies with a delicate phyllo dough. They have a large selection of Japanese beer if you so desire. The lunch buffet is only $7. Well worth the trip to Seguin. read more

On my way back from visiting friends on NY Day, the family got hungry for Chinese. Searched Yelp and found Grand Buffet to have some decent reviews... And we'd been to the Taste of China in Seguin and that was NOT an option. Really enjoyed it. Generals Chicken was good and hot & sour soup was delicious... But what put this over the top was the fantastic Mongolian Grill and beautifully fresh sushi.... On a buffet that truly impressed me. My wife and my 8 & 11 year olds enjoyed it as well. read more

Grand Buffet - Sushi - Chinese Near Me - Seguin, Texas

For a small(er) town in Texas, this is a very good Chinese buffet. We happened to go right at dinner time 7pm) so the buffet was missing some items, like beef and broccoli, because they had run out. Our first plates were pretty sparse, (garlic shrimp-which I recommend, chicken and broccoli, fried rice, and green beans for me), but by the time we finished those plates, the buffet has been replenished with fresh, hot food. The Mongolian BBQ area contains fresh veggies and meat choices. I wasn't schooled on how to prepare my choices and there was no one present to help, but when the chef came, he asked me about what sauces I wanted and added some butter when I asked about that. The plate he returned to me after grilling everything was awesome. I had chosen shrimp, broccoli (which looked fresh as could be), thinly sliced onions and green peppers, little baby corns (I love those!), water chestnuts, bean sprouts and mushrooms. Jalapeños were offered, but I passed on those. Would have been good to add I think. I selected the lo mein sauce which was a perfect choice for me. The fried rice was white, no soy sauce in it apparently, but it tasted flavorful. I'm not a big sushi fan, but the sushi was ok. read more

Food is fresh and plentiful. Sushi, Mongolian BBQ, and full buffet with soups, salads, and great desserts. Celebrated mom's 81st birthday and Suzanne provided great service and even had the birthday song playing on their sound system and delivered a cheesecake slice and candle that added a nice touch. everyone buckle your seat belts, because we're going on a whole rant. so a few minutes ago, I called this restaurant and placed an order. All i wanted was dumplings. So i told the cashier i wanted dumplings. there must have been a miscommunication, because when she was reading off my order she said "donuts" instead of "dumplings". no big deal me: "actually i got dumplings" cashier: "oh ok im sorry, so DUMPLINGS, got it" me: "cool thanks. no worries" I head to the restaurant envisioning a plate of dumplings. all i've ever wanted. i am a simple man with simple needs. i pick up my meal. i'm thinking of dumplings the whole time I open the meal, there are no dumplings. but the horror my eyes are met with are FRIED DONUTS. I call the restaurant me: "hey! i'm sorry, but i ordered dumplings, and you guys gave me donuts" cashier, who will be further known as B: "ummmmmmm actualllyyyyyyyy, you ordered fried donutssss, ummmmm, like, i remember :)" me: "sorry i actually ordered dumplings. i clearly remember" B: "no, umm, you ordered donuts" i'm getting GASLIGHT GATEKEEP GIRLBOSSED into being told i never actually ordered dumplings. i know what i wanted. i know what i ordered. my one wish of getting dumplings will never be granted. i am going to die unhappy. rest of the food tasted like a$$ btw. read more

Excellent selection of freshly made food. Their sushi bar never fails to disappoint and I'm a huge fan of their roasted seafood, coconut shrimp, and pepper chicken. Their prices are very reasonable and they also have a takeout option available where you pay by the pound. Just like yelper Gary reviewed, I agree that this place is ok and mediocre. For a small town like Seguin, it may be the best thing out there for the affordable price. You can't complain. It's definitely challenging to eat anything healthy here but if you had no choice, I'd stick to the mongolian grill and avoid any sauces and noodles. The other foods that were edible and decent to eat was the oysters, honey chicken, gyoza, shrimp, vanilla soft serve ice cream, and freshly cut pineapples. The sushi isn't really fresh and is packed with a lot of rice. It's americanized sushi with cream cheese, imitation crab meat and a bunch of sauce. But if there's salmon which I didn't see when i was there, I'd definitely would fill up on that minus the rice. read more

We enjoy eating at Grand Buffet, but you really have to watch what you choose. Some dishes are good and some are....well not so good. We will go back. They have a good selection of Chinese food. Some food taste about the same as others for whatever reason. I like the Mongolian grill because I can pick and choose the veggies and spice flavors I want. I am not impressed with their desserts. Pastries are box cookies and other snacks that are not all that. I say it's average restaurant and prices have gone up since covid. I avoid them in the weekends cause its too congested and and pricier. Overall they are good. I don't know what food causes me to get an upset stomach but I still keep coming back for more. read more

I have eaten at so many different chinese buffets in San Antonio that I should have a Chinese passport! Here's the thing, most of them are a let down, for one reason or another. Not Grand Buffet... I hate cold rice, cold meat, and not enough selection. Grand Buffet has great rice, not the hard stuff that you know someone cooked just long enough to serve. The meat dishes are hot because the patrons are always eating them, so the food is fresh! Great flavors, nice variety, just a damn good buffet. Great desert selection, and they have... (wait for it).... BIG RED. Any Chinese buffet that has great rice, a plentiful selection, AND Big Red is a great place for me. Yea, I can see it on your face, "it's waaay out in Seguin" but look, isn't it time to try something new? Come on, this buffet has STAMP CARDS! I don't know about you, but if it's free, it's me!! Excellent buffet selection...Sushi, shrimp, crab, mussels, oysters, authentic Chinese, soups, deserts, and salad. Also have a really good Mongolian stir fry selection cooked to order. The restaurant is always clean and the servers are polite and helpful. Been going since 2016 and it's always good. Only negative are the deserts. Deserts aren't very good. read more

This is my dirty place. The place when I've given up on other foods and want a buffet. We (my family and I) go here when we all disagree on what to eat for dinner. My husband hangs around the sushi bar and gets his money's worth FO SHO. My son hangs around all the fried carbs (chicken strips, biscuits, fries, corn nuggets). I like the Mongolian grille part. Pick your veggies/meat and they'll grill it up for you. The service has always been great. Drinks are always full, table is always pre-bussed. Nice. read more

If there is anything less than 1 rating I would give to this restaurant. 1. the vegetable spring roll was cooked in old oil and was smelly 2. food in the buffet was not filled even when asked 3. I presented a coupon for 10% off which was printed out right from their website. They only discounted 10% from the adult price and not from the total price which includes kids as well. Went there last night (Friday) $27 tax inc. for 2 of us, no drink. Awesome buffet. Can't beat the price with all the seafood included. All you can eat snow crab alone makes it worth the price. Nice sushi selection and selection for Mongolian grill. They were good at refilling pans as they went empty. Everything clean and fresh and staff was friendly and on top of service. I love Grand Buffet, but the price for lunch is too high. I remember Monday thru Friday it was 5.99. I came in today and I did not know how much it was. I was thinking lunch wasn't too much and I got my bill and was shocked, it was 10.99 without a drink, 11.89 with a drink. I did not eat 10.99 worth of food. The buffet has group selection, especially on the weekends with their crab legs are actually cook pretty decent. The rest of food is really good if you want real good food though go to Mongolian Grill in the back. Now they don't make steaks like other Chinese restaurants, but they do have shredded beef and beef cubed. read more

Starters: the food is decent. I would give it three stars for the food, but why the one star? Well, 1) we had one hostess that was very rude, and along with her two waiters. When seating us and taking our drink orders, she would have full on side conversations with her coworkers. 2) Didn't seem happy. In fact, she made it seem like she was irritated with us. Didn't like us one bit and made some comments with her coworkers and they kept looking back at our table and snickered. I wanted to call a manager and talk, but my family said it was fine and we'll just go somewhere else next time. We're customers, we can go anywhere with our money. 3) the restrooms are horrendous. No toilet paper and trash is everywhere. I've been here a couple of times and I still don't use the restrooms here. Decent food, but disgusting people and disgusting service! I was kinda surprised this place didn't have but one review on Yelp. I guess Seguin doesn't have many yelpers. Anyway... this joint has been around about a year & the food is quite good. Chinese buffet restaurants can be hit or miss- if the day is is slow, or a particular entree isn't popular, then the food sucks because it's been out under the heat lamp for hours. But no worries here, I pass by this place twice a day and the parking lot appears to always be full. The restaurant is huge- and as the name implies they just do buffet. If you want to get food to-go, they give you a white styro tray, you fill it with whatever, and they weight it for a "by the pound" price (gotta love Texas!) Anyway, I don't remember prices- but I think it was $11 +/- per person. Well worth it in my opinion. Amenities... I didn't count, but they had the number of food selections you would expect. You can also get some sort of meat like dish cooked to order. They have a guy making sushi, and there is a soft-serve machine + decent desert items. read more

I actually want to give a 3.5 star rating because it really isn't that bad . The best part of the buffet in my opinion is the fried foods . The chicken wings are perfect and the crab rangoons aren't over stuffed . I personally go to eat Asian food for more vegetable medleys unfortunately there are just not enough vegetables in their main courses . The flavor of the food is not bad but it is geared toward catering to lArge groups of people and sometimes the consistency is not there . Same name as New Braunfels. Same member card. Everything looks the same. Everything is the same. Same owner. But they claim its not the same so you cant get stamps. The food is much better than the one in New Braunfels. I would rather drive to Seguin. The NB location is aweful because they don't clean anything in the kitchen. read more

I've eaten here several times & gotten food to go! They have a great buffet selection & it's very affordable. I love takeout because I can go in, get what I want or as much as I can fit in my to go box & it only costs me about $5! It's a nice place to eat with a big group, family, or to go on a date. But my husband and I tried the coconut shrimp and a fried shrimp and both had been overcooked. The shrimps were too tough to eat. As buffets go, this one was really good and pretty cheap. I think I paid $27 for 2 dinner buffets with tax, 2 drinks, and tip. The food was not bad either. I love hot and sour soup and theirs was very good. Everything else was pretty good too. Also, the all you can eat crab legs and sushi was a plus. I had a great dinner for a low price so I am very happy with that. I'll be back! read more
