We wanted to check out skiing in CO as a family of four. We've gone skiing 3 times (except my husband who has gone 4 times). Granby Ranch has a nice mix of greens, blues and blacks. We skied the greens and blues over and over on the west mountain. We skied a blue on the east mountain with lots of blacks as well. Jackpot was our favorite. Followed by home again because of the awesome views. There are obstacle courses and terrain parks which are a lot of fun for adults and kids. This is a family friendly location. It really was nice. There's a cafe and restaurant as well in Base Camp one. Plus the grocery store is super close by. We rented a 2 BR, 2 BA condo in the building. It was perfect to lock our stuff up on the 1st floor then gear up and immediately head out to the slopes.

Best skiing of my life. It was not busy at all we rented skiis at the place and I thought it was finna be a hassle but it was so convenient and fast. The park is a little smaller, comparable to monarch, but has some of the funnest runs ever. GO ON EASY MONEY you will not regret going here.

Highly recommend. We was there for 5 days . Loved the place may relocate here, only problem is very expensive to Texas prices

My dad, cousin, and I came into the new restaurant to eat after skiing in the morning. We ordered two hot chocolates and a coke. The hot chocolate was one of the best I have ever had. We then ordered a burger and pizza to share. The burger was a quality one and what my dad preferred. My cousin and I loved the Pizza. It wasn't the cheapest meals but a great improvement over what they had before and in my opinion worth the money.

Granby Ranch was recommended to us by our hotel in the area. We were looking for snowboard lessons for our kids that are just learning to snowboard. Granby Ranch was a bit more reasonably priced than nearby Winter Park AND allowed us to book same day lessons. Other ski resorts we checked all required 48 hour advanced reservations. The snowboard lessons were about 2 1/2 hours. The price did not include a lift ticket or rentals. In the end, we ended up paying about $200 per kid. One thing I didn't love was how they moved kids groups around after parents left. Our three kids were in one group, with one other kid close to their age and skill level. When we returned my 15 year old was on a tiny hill with 5 year olds. Needless to say she was NOT happy and neither were we. She didn't even need the lift ticket for what they had her doing. If you're in this area and haven't made plans, this may be the place for you. Personally, I wouldn't return. If you're anything more than just starting out you will be bored quickly here.

We stopped one evening for night skiing on a recent trip to Winter Park. It was SUPER COLD (-8), but we had a great time making as many laps as we could stand down the open terrain. Night skiing is $10 for kids and $20 for adults! The quad lift looked to be in good shape and the run was pretty nice. I would come back again and check out more of their runs during regular hours if the opportunity presented itself. When we were done, we came inside and ate dinner. Service and the food were both good. We came away impressed overall with their facilities and their staff. Granby seems to be a pretty well run outfit.

Excellent family ski resort. Hands down a better value and experience than Winter Park if your skiing with kids or a group with various abilities. Only one Base Camp so easy to keep track of the kids and meet up with everyone in your ski party. Schedule lessons in advance and know ahead that this ski school teaches "French Fry" style and not "pizza pie". A hard habit to break but will definitely increase their ski level quicker and make the transition to more expert runs easier. I appreciate the older, experienced, local instructors here. Rent skis at Base Camp or at the Breeze Ski Rental at the Inn at Silver Creek. Make sure to visit in the summer for concerts, festivals, rodeos, hiking, mountain biking, golf and fly fishing. Plus beautiful COLORADO views.

We loved it. From beginners to experts, they have nice slopes. Not as big as Copper Mountain or Breckenridge but that was perfect for us. A family vacation with three generations. We could ski right to our condo and ski right out and down to the lifts. The Ski Lodge has nice seating outside with chairs out in the snow and on the patio. The patio has an outdoor firepit. The are no steps from the slopes to the patio or to the clubhouse. They have three places to eat. One on each floor of the lodge. The prices are a little high. The food can be good but we found a problem with them serving old, not fresh food.

Great little ski area. Nothing super fancy but it has everything you need to enjoy a day on the slopes.

    Early in the morning. :)

There was a common room with a fireplace and some games we utilized, too. We had a mini fridge and microwave. It is now late season and a number of activities were closed - canoes, the pool. However there was so much to do, we did not really miss these. There was so much we didn't get to but ran out of time -- craft room, roller-skating, hikes. There are restaurants available. The place is beautiful, can't wait to go back for fall leaf season or winter sports.

The kitchen was completely stocked with everything needed for meal prep and serving, a large butcher block table in the kitchen made meal prep so easy and everyone could sit around visiting while preparing meals or eating breakfast. A comfy dining room with fireplace made our evening meals warm and relaxing. A huge fireplace in the living room welcomed us every time we entered the house, and we all loved sitting in there and reading, visiting, napping and watching football on the big screen TV. There are games and movies available. Plenty of split wood for the fireplaces is stacked on the porch. The bedrooms are small, but clean and comfortable, and since we were not interested in sitting in the bedrooms, they were not an issue to us. There is a fantastic big sauna on the third floor which we took full advantage of before bed most nights. Outdoors, a huge porch with rocking chairs welcomed us and a lot of good conversation occurred out there while watching the wildlife and listening to the aspen leaves blowing in the wind. They were changing colors and were beautiful. The house sits on a high hill overlooking a valley, and the river and train track are about a half mile away. Yes, we could hear the train in the distance, but it was no problem for us. A huge butane fireplace and comfortable chairs was another outdoor area we took full advantage of. A large bbq is around the corner on the porch and the guys grilled several evenings. There were NO BATS or any other critters in the house. The caretakers do live nearby, but other than warmly welcoming us the first day, the only interaction with them was instigated by us. The husband is an accountant in Granby, but the wife is home and they have two small children who were never seen outdoors and never invaded our privacy. Their 1 dog goes to work with the husband, and was in their house otherwise. Most of our time was spent at the ranch and we walked to the main highway several times which is a mile round trip. The river offered beautiful photo ops. Several day trips included, Grand Lakes, Estes Park, Winter Park and Silver Creek Ski area which are all nearby. Granby has a nice grocery store. My personal opinion is that the person who wrote such a negative review was expecting a very modern home, not a 100 year old piece of history. For us, it was just what we wanted and expected and gave us a chance to spend quality time with friends from Texas, California and Arizona. We hope to return again.

We rented a place called Mountainside Condo #4 in Granby CO rented by Resort Management Group through Vacasa. There was a picture of a murphy bed (near the kitchen table) in the Vacasa photos and it was included the Virtual Tour but was not actually there when we arrived. This bed, for our friend, was one of the main reasons we booked there. Instead of insisting that this was untrue based on the lies of the rental agent: Resort Management Group, Vacasa could have simply asked the RMG to go to the condo and facetime a whole tour to see what we were complaining about - but they didn't. TO THIS DAY, they still have the condo falsely advertised with the picture of the murphy bed near the kitchen that isn't even there anymore. It was understood that there was no AC BUT what is not mentioned is that all the beautiful windows are SEALED and no way to get ventilation. There is only one window that opens in the entire condo - a small window in the kitchen. The balcony door opens but doesn't have a screen so you can't leave it open at night because mosquitos will get in. And there are a lot of mosquitos. It was stifling at night with the door closed. Maybe it's a great winter rental but summer .. not so much. There was some fire or carbon monoxide alarm that strobed a green light BRIGHTLY every 10 seconds at both sleeping areas. Maybe it was low batteries but it was definitely annoying and not normal. We had to cover it with tape during our stay. My partner smelled animal urine near his side of the bed. There was a cat scratched chair leg. Vacasa believes the RMG that no animals are permitted in the condo. Well I took a picture of the scratched up chair. It was curious that they never replaced it. A lampshade was cracked in many places ... and not in a "rustic way". We had to wipe off the patio/balcony furniture ourselves because it was filthy. We paid WAY too much for what we got - and feel that we were lied to. It was especially insulting that Vacasa didn't really look into it. I think we are getting a laughable $100 back and 15% off a future Vacasa stay - but we would never use Vacasa or RMG again. I hope this review helps someone else avoid what we went through with Mountainside Condo #4. In the virtual tour - the cat scratched chair leg and fire alarms are suspiciously blurred out... I am no longer trusting the Vacasa brand nor will I trust Resort Management Group.

The xc skiing at Devil's Thumb has always been a favorite for us, as far back as the 70's when it was just a rustic ski trail system with a small nordic supply shop. In recent years it became a full fledged resort with lodging where we have often stayed. We have also stayed in Winter Park, about 15 minutes away and driven over to ski. But we have now found our new favorite option. This is such a lovely place, both the facility and the charming staff. It is a better price value for us than some of the other options in the area, yet more than a simple motel in town. You know, like Goldilocks, "just right." I especially want to note that the (included) breakfast that host John cooks for the guests was wonderful, some sweet, some savory, warm, homemade, natural and ample for the start of even an hearty ski day. They take note in advance of special food needs and serve with a choice of time options. The log style of the building is rustic but nicely furnished. The rooms are well designed and furnished with high quality linens and have lots of storage as some guests stay for weeks. The views from each room are very pretty, some to the Continental Divide, some to the woodland. Every single staff member was friendly and helpful. The central lounge area was large, comfortable, attractive and clean and with a central fireplace. There are also some other smaller gathering areas to sit and talk or read if you wish to be outside your room. And there are also some family and dog friendly cabins on site if you want more than a bedroom. Personally, the rooms in the main inn are just right for my needs. We will absolutely be back. It is convenient to local xc skiing and also just a 15 minute drive past the Winter Park Resort and not far at all from several quality dinner options. We met other guests using the lodging for all of these reasons.
