The buffet has a seafood section and the only dish which looked appealing was the salmon in dill sauce. Unfortunately the salmon was rubbery ... this seafood section should probably be removed and some other cuisine in its place, since they don't have the foot traffic required for fresh seafood on a Monday night. Dessert bar had lots of offerings but my choice sadly was stale Boston cream pie. I tried getting the attention of the attendant for a scoop of ice cream to no avail. We ate on a Friday night for $33 per person. Luckily, we had a discount and only paid $17 but I still want my money back, but let's start with the positive, shall we? The mashed potatoes and salad were good. The fruit was fine. The rest... I could only stomach one or two bites of anything. The second bite was just to confirm that bad experience of the first bite. I have never had a tasteless prime rib - home cooked or from a restaurant. This prime rib was tasteless and chewy. Didn't know that was possible. The horseradish sauce had zero bite to it. I would give this place 0 stars if possible. Service was good, all employees that I encountered were nice but the food at this casino buffet was the worst that I've ever had at any casino. The food didn't even look appealing and tasted horrible, nothing was hot and looked as if it had been sitting for hours. We were about to leave Winstar and wanted to eat. It had been awhile since I had been to a buffet. This one was as good as any. My mom had breakfast and reported that the waffles and churros were good. That was cool. Never seen churros at a buffet. I had salad and then some breakfast goodies. Two things stand out immediately--the restaurant's décor is decent and the variety and amount of food is enormous. It goes downhill from there. Yes, yes, yes--I saw the many one and two star ratings. No, no, no, I'm not saying that the reviewers were peasants and the Illustrious Don B, Gourmand Extraordinaire, would sort things out and set them straight. I fully knew what I was walking into. But, as I've mentioned in other reviews, I'm a Buffet Junkie and a buffet of this size just has to be tried--I couldn't help myself, I tell you! Like the casino, the buffet is separated as to the ethnicity of the food. I have no problem with that, makes it easy to find the type of food you're in the mood for. What I do have a problem with is the quality. Years ago, I lived in Sparks, Nevada which is a suburb of Reno. Of all the buffets in that town, the one at the El Dorado was my choice. You couldn't get better food at any sit-down restaurant. So, it's against El Dorado that I compare all casino buffets. Gran Via fails miserably. Yes, the food is displayed artfully (especially the desserts) but that's as far as it goes. I tried a variety of food from most of the stations. Here's a sampling. On my plate were pizza, breaded mushrooms, stuffed, battered and fried jalapenos, egg roll, pot sticker, Thai chicken, chicken Cordon Bleu and grilled veggies. For dessert I chose bread pudding with sauce, a lemon bar, a coconut pie, cream horn, brownie and blueberry cake. Now before you judge, let me say all were "sample size;" glad they were. The pizza was dense and chewy but flavorless; if that's your thing, go for it. There was very little difference in flavor between the mushrooms and jalapenos (seems like there should be, right?) or between the egg roll and the pot sticker. Neither the Thai chicken nor the chicken Cordon Bleu had much flavor, a direct opposite of how these dishes are if prepared properly. The only thing salvageable was the grilled veggies and this mainly due to the onions. To add injury to insult, all were lukewarm. As for the desserts, the bread pudding had the correct consistency but that flavor--well, I just can't describe it. And that is NOT a good thing! Same can be said of the sauce. The coconut pie and brownie were essentially flavorless but the lemon bar and cream horn were quite good. The star of the show was the blueberry cake. Delicate, moist, full of blueberries--the flavors of the cake and berries complimented each other perfectly. I must admit that I went back for another. And, Gentle Reader, I apologize that I didn't sample more as I usually do; the food was so subpar, I couldn't force myself to do it. Overall, I rate the food as one star. The other star comes from a combination of cleanliness and the server. The stations are cleaned continuously so you won't be greeted by clumps of food outside of the steam trays; the floors and other surfaces, likewise. Our server was "Southern old school," calling us "hon," "dear," and treating us as if she sincerely appreciated our business. We certainly appreciated her! Unfortunately, the food sucks! It's cold, bland, and uncooked. They now place bread on the table as if they want you to fill up on that inlue of eating the buffet. You are better off going to a Golden Corral or a hospital for dinner. The food is about the same and the price would be much better. After this dinner I am disgusted. It is not the first time usually its with free buffet coupons. Food is mediocre. Prime rib was raw raw raw I would not get it .The guy said he was bringing out brisket next and brought me some. It was tasty he gave me a huge portion could not eat a quarter of it. I had butterfly shrimp pretty decent with hush puppies. Pizza was bad tasted like a frozen pizza even though it wasn't. Can NOT believe Shreveport, La is actually better at something. I'm originally from Shreveport. And i do not and never have gambled. Hubs and I drove up here from Dallas to check out Winstar's buffet. We came for the food only. We were immediately greeted by indoor cigarette smoke fumes. Our nice clothes that we should never have worn reeked of cigarettes when we finally bounced out of there. You only smell that in Horshoe in Shreveport if you get near the casinos. Here, you have to walk through the casino to get to anything - similar to Margaritaville. Nothing was opulent and grand even though it looks promising from the outside. Every possible floor space was taken up by a machine. Anyway, We toughed it out to get to the buffet. Paid $70 for two plus tip and mediocre is the best I can give it. "Fresh baked" means fresh out the freezer and baked. Fresh shrimp were frozen. Brisket is dry. Mashed potatoes are fake. Asian buffet tasted like frozen Costco items. So super disappointed. The Asian section was not the most popular and the food there didn't appeal to me. The Italian section had fresh pasta and sauces in addition to pizza. The grill had fried catfish which was excellent as well as their homemade tartar sauce. The prime rib was a nice medium to medium rare. They had tortilla chips with a variety of dipping sauces and cheese. But the star of the buffet is the crab legs. Unfortunately they did not have King crab the night we visited because of a delivery problem. So we had to settle for their snow crab legs. Fortunately it turned out that their snow crab legs were the best I've ever had! The young man behind the snow crab leg counter was plating at least 3 huge sections of crab legs per plate. On top of that he kept saying "Come back and get some more". The snow crab legs were Yuge (use your best Trump voice) and were warm from being freshly cooked. It was meaty and easy to peel, another sign of freshness. It wasn't over-salted as many places do and the meat was wonderfully sweet. Dipped in the drawn butter... yom yom yom yom yom yom yom! After 2 plates of this crustacean feast, I was stuffed. I would love to return and try their King crab. If it's anything like their snow crab, I won't be disappointed. After a short intermission, we hit the desserts. Just take a look at the photos. Most of their desserts are made in-house and they all looked fantastic. Did I already mention this was a buffet and all you can eat?!? As Ken mentioned, what they really need to do is have some kind of "sampler" plate with a little piece of everything. We had to pick out plates and split them so we could try others. My favorite was my self made combo of coffee ice cream and red velvet cake. We ended the evening with a very nice cup of coffee and then walked off as many calories by going through all the different venues and watching people play. The poker and bingo rooms are unbelievable. You can't read about WinStar. It is an experience that has to be lived. I've seen enough slot machines for the rest of my life thank you. Their selection ranges from Asian, Italian, to Mexican. For their asian food they usually have orange chicken, fried rice, and noodles. Their asian food is mediocre, nothing really special. Their pho actually taste like pho which is a plus, but nothing too special. The special thing about this buffet, and imm guessing why they charge so much is because it offers unlimited king crab legs. If you come on a busy dinner night there is usually a line (but they keep the legs coming). They have a very extensive dessert station with a variety of pre made pies and cake slices, macaroons, ice cream etc. This buffet is definitely not worth the $30 I will admit that it is part of the experience of coming to Winstar for me, plus the waiter are always really nice. read more

The food definitely was not good. Everything looked old. And dried out. A few items I chose were dried out. And can tell it's been sitting a bit. Now. The only thing I enjoyed was the dessert bar. And the freshly made pasta from the chef at the Italian food area. Those were the only things worth eating. Our waitress was very nice. The best part is that there's someone there plating the crab legs for you. They pretty much fill up the whole plate for you. I don't know if that's the case every weekend but that was the case when we were there. In addition to the crab legs I tried the pho station. I mean it's pho served in a casino in Oklahoma, you can't expect much. The broth was really bland and the noodles severely undercooked. They do however give you lots of meat balls and brisket. The food is one of two options either A - The food has been sitting out for too long B- The cook is unaware of the food they are peeping Most of the food was dry or the flavor was lacking. My waitress was also unaccounted for for approximately 10-15 mins. The only part that I can actually give a 4/5 review is the dessert section. The Flan was great, however it was more on the thicker side rather than the smooth which was a nice surprise. Overall the place need more coordination and cooperation to take it to the next level. Which could also help with the 5-7 tables with dishes just sitting on them for 10 mins. I found the variety to be great and we enjoyed most of the items on the buffet and out of the ones we enjoyed we ranked them good to very good. I don't live in the area. A very clean place especially in the VIP room. Not bad for two if one of the party has a coupon. Salads were fresh and they had a good amount of offerings. Decided on Bleu Cheese dressing and put some Bleu cheese crumbs on. No crab legs on Saturday, sadly. They have various themed food offerings from Italian to Chinese. They also had so.e cut meat offered. I tried the spaghetti. Noodles were OK and wish there was more sauce. Best feature was the meatball. Good sized and tasted great. I ate light that night because I wasn't done gambling. Line moved pretty fast better than the Kirby. Nice place to eat if you want seconds.
