Experienced very poor customer service with Graham Electric, as many others have. Originally reached out because it seemed like he was a skilled electrician. After being cut off multiple times on our brief conversation, he ended up hanging up on me mid-sentence, before I could explain the true location of the requested services. What a shame, missed out on potentially $1k-$1.5k worth of work. Being an experienced tradesperson is one thing and having common decency when speaking to potential customers is another, you need both. I am very happy he behaved like this BEFORE he was at my house doing work. Just like you have no time for your customers, I have no time for that behavior. I wanted to put in an network drop for my retired parents, so I made a request on Thumbtack and found this guy. Seemed legit with 50+ five-star reviews. I've attached the conversation so you can see it first-hand. At first, he requested an email from me, and I told him I would reply when I was able to. He proceeded to tell me that it costs him $17 to send me a message and that he wished Thumbtack would tell people. I was stunned and confused. So I wrote him the email, telling him that I was not able to take pictures yet because I'm not onsite, and that from the vibe, I do not think we should do business together. He replies back that he agrees, and insults me for not understanding him. What? Okay, first of all, Thumbtack is a middle-man for service providers. It's not like a restaurant would complain to me about the cost of rent if I don't eat there. It's just the cost of doing business. If he was nicer, I would've paid him $250 for the job. Why complain to me about $17? I didn't make those rules, and I didn't become a vendor and accept those rules to use the platform. How unprofessional. read more

Graham Electric (NOVA) Do not go with this company!!! Garth Graham is completely unprofessional!!! Didn't have the courtesy of returning my call, but instead sends a text mentioning that I called. I misunderstood and thought he said he left me a message,so I responded back saying I didn't get his message earlier. When I called him back again, he answered the phone in a totally rude manner and made sure to question why I sent that text saying I didnt get his message. (Completely irrelevant for the call) Then proceeds to tell me there is no such thing as a 220v hot tub (reason for my call) and says there are only 240v. I told him we purchased a 220v last night. He continues to argue with me about the voltage. (again irrelevant to the conversation) I then say whatever, are you able to give me a quote or not? He says he was just waiting for me to get done telling him stuff he already knows. Obviously he knows nothing about hot tubs or he would know about 220v! I told him to forget it and that Im surprised he is even in business with a few other choice words and hung up. I find it funny he calls himself a professional with 21 years experience. How is any work even completed when you cant even get past a phone conversation to obtain a quote or make an appointment without being condescended? Note, the positive reviews on their site are all from 2011 and 2012 and probably made from Garth himself and other dead beat friends of his. He provided honest advice about how much lighting we needed (fewer than others contractors estimated) and was clear about pricing. Horrible ethics, paid this guy to do a light landscape install. He told he didnt have the part so he had me go buy it. We agreed that once I buy the he will return to install the transformer into the landscaping light. Instead he has been dodging the completion of this job for over a month now. I asked him one more time right before Christmas to come by and install the landscaping lights, to give the house a cheery Christmas feel to it and instead he has been avoiding my emails. Would never recommend this guy to anyone. After he read my Yelp Review he even contacted me directly to confront me, The following- "You're pathetic leaving me a shitty review under a false name. Meh...Garth's mannerisms and pricing seems to be flipped from a year ago. He seems irritable and short in his emails and phone conversations. He also had this mightier than thou attitude...just from my experience. He came by last year and "fixed" the short in my upstairs hallway. I actually found the arc in an outlet after 15 minutes and he still charged me almost full price...he didn't tell me in advance what he charged for service calls. He also quoted me on a basement job and did not recollect or write down what he would charge and for what. That would have been extremely helpful at this point. When getting quotes from him, make sure you get it in writing because he will forget it the next day and then double the cost. I'd rather pay whatever the cost than to deal with this non-customer oriented person. Look at the review from December 2015...."Extremely rude.
