I heard great reviews of this place about the cleanliness, great customer service etc. So I decided to give it a try.. I called at about 11ish to make an appointment for Sunday today being Friday right off the bat the girl who answered the phone was rude, I asked her if I would be able to make an appointment she told me "Uh can I call you back?" I said "Oh.. okay?" She never took my name or number down and hung up. I was so confused as to what happened. I couldn't even get a simple explanation saying why she had to get me off the phone right quick or why she couldn't look at her appointment book right there and give me a simple yes or no to the appointment time and date I wanted?! If I could give them no stars I would. I was so ready to give them a chance and try out their services but now I'm good, the vibe is as real off. I'm glad they never called me back. Maybe we came at a busy time last month but it seemed like they just wanted to get through us quickly and take the next appointment even though we both had appointments and they didn't squeeze us in as walk-in. My mother and I felt we were in some nail factory and and both felt pressured to get our nails done fast and gtfo. Cleaning your nail bed and the skin around your nails is also extra. If you want more one-on-one attention, go elsewhere. If you want your nails done quickly, this place isn't too bad. They did some things pretty well, the lady taking care of my mom offered her water. The guy doing my nails didn't offer me anything. I felt pressured to choose my colors quickly but he did my nails nicely once everything was said and done. Took my sis here for her birthday, a start to our gurlz day out. When we walked in, all the pedi chairs were taken, save for two...lucky thing we had appointments because this place appears to get pretty booked, with customers constantly coming in to replace the ones leaving. We had a basic pedi each ($27) and I treated myself to a callous removal ($5) since my feet were totally blech! I think it was the owner who waved us over to the wall with the nail polish and asked us to choose a color we liked. Then we sat down, leaned back and got the massage going on the chairs. A guy did my sis' toes. A girl did mine. The guy took longer to finish my sis' toes without the callous treatment, so I don't know if he's just slower, but whatever the case, he did a nice job. The girl who did mine was pretty quick, but I couldn't complain about the scrub treatment and the massage she did for me. It felt pretty incredible. Sis and I chatted away, but I still kept an eye on the pedi process. After two coats of bright pink polish, my nail girl stood up, thanked me and started on a new customer. I thought, ok, she's gonna be back for my top coat. But when the guy helping my sis started the top coat on her toes and my nail girl was well into the other customer's pedi, I asked him about my top coat. My nail girl came back and insisted she put the top coat on my nails. I told her I was watching her but and knew for sure she didn't. Creds to her though, she didn't try to fight me on it, and took the two minutes or so to apply the top coat. Needless to say, I was a little miffed, but whatever. All in all, the quality of the work done here is above average. The prices are pretty fair. And I think offering water to customers was a really nice touch. But I go a lot on the atmosphere and the customer service of a place to dictate if I'm coming back. I recall another reviewer mentioning how the workers at Gradient Nail all speak Vietnamese to each other. Maybe this was partially the reason for me saying this but I did not feel very welcomed here. Also, the workers had an almost indifferent demeanor and some looked absolutely uninterested in what they were doing, let alone trying to be more friendly to their patrons. So, I'm still on the fence about coming back, especially when nail salons are sprouting all over the place in the Ala Moana area. I hope the owner of this salon pays attention to mediocre to negative reviews on Yelp and makes the necessary changes, because there is actually hope for this shop, with some improvements. read more

I came here just yesterday to get my nails done and I'm completely satisfied ! The service was fast and the work was well executed. I got the guy that works there. And they have this card where they explain the prices so that there's no "surprises" which we can all agree that we appreciate! No one likes being charged or have the bill rack up without their knowledge which a lot of nail salons do sadly. As for the work, compare to my former salon, the guy didn't use excessive amount of glue so the skin on the side of my nails didn't get stuck. He was really gentle with the machine as well. The lady that did my nails prior to this nipped me when she was buffing my nails that she drew blood! I was in pain! I bent my nail about a quarter inch below the tip of my finger. There were two tears on each side of my thumb nail. A little bleeding and swelling and lots of pain. I wanted to find a gentle nail professional who would know how to help my nail grow out. Thank you, Yelp! I came across Gradient Nail and I have to say that they are worth every one of their 5 star rating. The receptionist was fabulous at getting me scheduled, the COVID protocols are in place (the front door is locked, so that they can take your temperature before entering and they have you wash your hands before any service), and Kim, who fixed my nail and then gave me a gel polish was a perfectionist's dream come true! The nail lengths are exact ( sometimes one or two are a little shorter or longer), the curve of each nail matches (sometimes one or two may look a little more square) and the polish is so smooth and perfectly applied. I was on vacation and visiting family on the island when I was in dire need of a mani pedi! I saw Gradient Nail on Yelp with a 5 star review and had to check them out. I came as a walk-in and was able to be seen. I would recommend an appointment though because it is a small salon and they spend a long time on each person giving them the attention and care that each person needs. The manicure was done very well. My cuticles were cut and I wasn't nicked or bleeding like I sometime can be at other fast salons. Each nail was shaped and cut to the length that I liked. The hot scented towel was a nice touch. The best part was the hand massage. I wanted to fall asleep right there. He painted my nails very well and then I moved into a massage chair for the pedicure portion. The massage chairs are awesome even without anything. But the pedicure had all the stops. Carrie did a great job doing everything in her power to give me the softest feet possible. I did the callous scrub and the parafin treatment. In addition to that there was also a sand scrub and another scrub with an exfoliating mitt. I wish I could just stay there for the rest of the day. I liked that I can tip on my credit card rather than have exact cash. My mani pedi plus callous remover and parafin treatment cost me $62 (without tip). Location: This place has it's own parking area so don't park too far away. I thought I wouldn't be able to park in there and parked like 2 blocks away. This nail salon is on the backside of the shopping center, not the front so you won't see it. Service: You need to be willing to play musical chairs a little bit. I first started with choosing my colors and getting my feet exfoliated while I was getting a massage in the massage chair. Then afterwards, I got my hands done and it was the same treatment. At the end, I paid $64 for gel nails for both my hands and feet which was a little pricey, but they are holding up even though I have a labor intensive job. This review is long overdue. Gradient Nail is the best! The staff is very friendly and awesome at their nail skills. I got the Royal Pedicure and it IS. THE. BOMB! Pricey but so worth every penny. It's literally a spa package for your legs and feet. I work industrial/construction and I'm on my feet at work 10+ hours a day so I desperately needed all of the Royal Ped treatments: SCRUB, MASSAGE, HOT STONE, HOT TOWEL WRAP, DETOX, ETC. Haylee took care of my feet and she was on point! My feet and legs never felt better (toes too)! Julie was my manicurist and she was awesome too! This was my first manicure (again, because the type of work I do) so she suggested gel because it will last longer and won't chip. I picked holographic glitter so then she made another suggestion of using white as a background to make it pop. Just like my feet, my hands felt so pampered and good. Plus, she took care of my hands and nails while I got my pedicure. I will definitely be coming back to see these 2 ladies real soon! P.S. Julie was right! This was the absolute best nail place I have ever been to, the minute you walk in the girl at the front was so sweet, offered waters and sat us immediately. I got a gel pedicure and gel acrylics. I have ingrown toe nails that she took extra time to fix for me and the entire time asked if I was okay (they're very deep and usually hurt easily and bleed.) It was $116 for both, I live in California and usually pay about $80 for the same services but I would pay $116 for that every time of it was like that!! Absolutely loved this place! I had cut my nails the day before, but decided to just get them done cause my nail polish I had on was not the greatest. Anyways, the ladies there were all super nice. I was seated about 5 minutes after arriving (with no appointment made) and was offered water (choice of room temp or cold). Shoutout to Julie and Hannah who did my nails and for working with my attempt of cutting . They were swift while maintaining great precision. They would ask how I was doing and made me feel comfortable while also giving me time to just relax in silence. Parking is a tad difficult because it's on a street with limited parking, but they are part of a building that has a small lot (think 6-10 spaces). Was able to snag one of those so didn't have to pay. I went in on Lunar New Years, and they had this tree with red envelopes. I came here with mother when our nails were in need of some tlc. I'll attach pictures so you can judge if you want your nails to look like this. For two peoples gel manicures and regular pedicures, it was almost $200. I did receive a 15% discount on one pedicure because my nail artist filed my skin and cut it. I thought my pedicure was very well done, but my mothers was not. The paint was not applied well and the cuticle was not touched. My mothers manicure turned out very nicely, but mine did not. As my nails grow out, you can see the uneven paint on the edge and the nail underneath the polish showing through on the nail where not enough polish layers were applied. I had a good experience in the salon, but the end products were not worth the price. read more

I came in wanting a fill. I looked up on pinterest and found the gradient/ ombre nail design. I showed the guy named Alex a picture of it and he didn't know what it was so I tried to describe it to him. I even showed a picture from the gradient nail yelp page from a design he did for someone else... But when I said it was gradient he kind of put me down and made me feel dumb for calling it the wrong thing, which is apparently ombre. I did not know the difference but he could of just said that it was ombre and not gradient in a nicer way. He also told me he couldn't do a fill for this type of design. But my usual place in Oregon does it all the time for a fill so I didn't understand but I did not want to bother asking so I just decided to just take my nails off instead of getting a fill. I was helped by Lily and Julia to remove the acrylics. Both of whom were really nice and told me more about acrylic nails. I don't do my nails that often so I did not know how often you should take the old one off and get a new set. Since my nails were lifting a little it was time to take them off anyway. I really liked how friendly everyone else was as they even let my boyfriend wait inside on a massage chair while I did my nails. I would go back to get my nails done again but not to Alex. read more

Always professional, and just about any technician does an amazing job. They take pride in their work and it shows. Tough to book but that's because they are THAT good. I've gotten a lot of compliments on my nails and they last long, don't break as easily as they do when I get them done at some other places. Gradient is comfortable, clean, consistent and priced right. They are very transparent about pricing up front so there are no surprises or questions on why you were charged what you were. Example: The nail place I went to previous to Gradient charged me about $75 more than my friend and she had exactly the same service. Never do I have a question coming to Gradient. Came here for the first time today and had a wonderful experience. The massage pedicure chairs were very up to date and comfortable. The workers were all very nice and asked me many times how the temperature of the water was and how I was feeling. Kim did my pedicure and was so thorough and careful. Loved the leg massage as well..it was NOT hastily done and felt so good. Other nail salons seem very rushed when they are busy but it wasn't the case with Gradient Nail. Update! One week in the Gell has fallen off my nails :( I usually got 2-3 weeks without tending to my nails. Disappointed this happened at 1 week. To fix or just leave it? I don't have an hour to go get these fixed :( also they're growing out ok but have been scratching off chunks from excessive gel.
