Big fan of Gracie's! I'd been to Earnest Drinks in the Kendall Square area before, which actually serves ice cream from Gracie's, so I knew it must be legit. The benefit of Earnest is that they have much more seating and the vibes are cooler, but Gracie's does the trick too! I actually went to Gracie's right after Somerville Porchfest, so it was pretty busy, but I don't think it's usually that hectic. Since it was so crowded, we didn't bother to stick around and just took our ice cream to go. My favorite part about this place is the interesting flavors. Go for the pandan, which has a nice nuttiness to it. I would recommend!
Staff is very friendly and for 8 bucks you get two giant scoops of homemade ice cream. I got the fruity pebbles and some green ice cream that tastes like nutty vanilla. And they have a cone they dip in fluff and caramelize it with a torch. Pretty cool. Def recommended. I'll come here again
Picked up this pint in the hotel lobby freezer and omg...it was absolutely incredible! This cornbread flavor was the perfect balance of salty and sweet and I could not stop eating it! They had so many flavors too, I wish I could try them all!
We got a small matcha and black razz Oreo reeses. Considering it was a small for 2 scoops, it was smaller than what I was expecting. The black razz was had a hint of berry which I really liked. It complimented the oreo well. As for the Reese's, it came in chunks or reeses pieces. The matcha on the other hand was light and creamy one, I think it went well with the tart berry flavor!!! They also give free sugar and wafer cones for free. Would definitely come back again!!
Top notch ice cream! I had the heath cookies and cream on a sugar cone and I would have no issues eating that every night. At these prices you could too. For a local ice cream shop in the neighborhood they could back their prices up but they don't. It was like$10 for 2 mediums... I thought he'd only rung up one. The staff was friendly and helpful and they have really cool designs for their merch. I particularly liked the one that looked like the old op ivy image.
People were saying how light the flavor was. Which I can see why they say that. But to be honest, I didn't see it as a bad thing. It wasn't too rich, which is what I like. What I've cream and their flavors are too rich, it leaves a weird after taste in the mouth. So I appreciated this place and their ice cream lightness. I would love to come back . Just wish it wasn't crazy busy!
As other reviews have mentioned, the ice cream here isn't too sweet and is very creamy! They have kiddie scoops for $3.85, small scoops for $4.85, and large scoops for $5.85. Kiddie scoops are limited to one flavor but you can get 2 flavors if you order a small or large. Due to COVID precautions, you place your order online then check in at the window when you arrive so that they can scoop your ice cream for you. We got a kiddie scoop of the ube and a kiddie scoop of the broreo. I thought the broreo would be something like a brownie oreo but it turned out to be a berry oreo (maybe blueberry or blackberry?). Both flavors were really yummy and I appreciated that the ube wasn't a bright neon purple color. I'm definitely looking into getting their pints delivered so that I don't have to venture out to Union Square for their awesome ice cream. The ice cream is a little melty so you should ask for a napkin when you get your order!

We came here for the first time tonight. Based on other reviewers, we tried the Cookie Dough and the fluff cone and the Raspberry ice cream. They were pretty good, better than most other ice cream places here. The inside is still closed because of covid but they have an exterior pick up window so place your order ahead of time on ordergracies.com. We brought our pup and they were nice enough to give him a pup cup with some whipped cream. I will say though, I didn't love the political stances they were taking with all the window signage. Can't we keep politics out of ice cream outings?
Whenever I'm visiting Bow Market, I always drop in to Gracie's Ice Cream. The ice cream itself is more on the soft side, which I prefer. It's creamy and sweet. They have a flavor board of "always" flavors and "sometimes" flavors. The "always" flavors are a few common flavors that people know. The "sometimes" flavors are a bit crazier and change frequently due to the small batch churning. The updated flavors are listed on the Instagram page @graciesflavors almost daily. Honestly, I love that and it bumps up my review rating automatically. I love the crazy "sometimes" flavors that are offered at the shop. Their website holds their full flavor list, and they are still thinking of new creations! One of my favorites "sometimes" flavors is Pandan. It's a crowd favorite and comes back often. Recently they started to make Ube and it always sells out quickly. I was actually able to catch it one time and got a pint to go. Another perk? They have a loyalty card that after the tenth visit, you get a free cone or A PINT. I saved that card for that ube! And of course being in the heart of Somerville, they offer fluff cones. A fun treat! Absolutely a must stop ice cream shop!

I ordered the ube matcha swirl in a fluff cone and it was delicious. The toasted fluff on the outer rim of the cone adds a unique flavor that compliments the ice cream perfectly. They have a rotating list of flavors with some pretty interesting options that I'd love to try in the future. Gracie's is a great spot to get your ice cream fix! read more
Such an amazing local gem serving incredibly delicious and generous scoops of ice cream with rotating flavors. Got the zebra cakes, raspberry cornbread, black raspberry with Oreos & reeces, and espresso chips (not sure if I'm remembering the flavors by their exact name haha). Of those, I particularly enjoyed the zebracakes and black raspberry flavors, but honestly all tasted phenomenal. They also had special cones lined with torched marshmallow fluff - wow love that so much! Super friendly and quick service, small shop more for walk in and order and benches outside to enjoy your scoops. Pup cups available as well. read more

What a fixture of our community!!! I've been here many times, but I stopped in after a run and was dismayed to find that they were closed. Someone inside was so kind and gave us ice cream anyway. Love this place and the people who work there!! read more

I really like this ice cream! I got the pop tart flavor and the black raspberry chip. Both were good quality and the pop tart was fun and unique. The ice cream wasn't quite 5-star for my ice cream taste (I tend to reserve 5 stars for ice cream I finish and wish I still had more of hahaha) but the fluff cone ALMOST edged Gracie's to a 5. The fluff cone really is great, you have to get it. It's toasted and adds great texture and flavor. Awesome. read more
One of my favorites! We stopped here for some ice cream after a meal in the area. They have some unique flavors! A green ice-cream caught my eye and I wondered if it was pistachio. Turned out to be something called pandan. I love trying out new flavors, especially where ice-creams are concerned and this fit the bill. Usually I avoid tasting samples since it involves those tiny plastic spoons - one use and into the trash bin they go. But I was pleasantly surprised by their use of wooden spoons (yay!). The pandan was delicious. We got a scoop and one of the best parts was getting torched marshmallow on your cone. Oh yes, it was off the charts. I don't know how to best describe the pandan flavor, floral tasting maybe. Anyway, the texture of the ice-cream was great, not icy or too cold at all. Service was quick, attentive and pleasant. Will definitely return and look forward to tasting more unique flavors! read more

I love Gracie's. It's a frikken institution. Their ice cream corners the market for quality specialty ice cream that isn't too sweet and IS perfectly creamy. Cause it's made with cream. Creamy cream of deliciousness. I think what seals the deal for me is that they have all these wonderful signs in their store--makes me feel right at home. Highly recommend! I can't believe this place only has 3 stars! Ever since my husband and I stumbled upon Gracie's it's been our favorite ice cream shop. We'll choose Gracie's over JP Lick's or Tuscanini's any day. I very much enjoy their ice cream, all made in house, and they always have at least one unexpected flavor - Salted whiskey was actually surprisingly delightful! It's true their selection is a little smaller than at some other local shops but the TOASTED FLUFF CONES definitely make up for it. Yes, they take the cone, dip it in fluff, and then toast it with a creme brulee torch. I can't explain how amazing it is, just go, order anything, and get it with the toasted fluff cone. You will not regret it. read more

You can find Gracie's Ice Cream at 22 Union Sq, Somerville, MA 02143 in Union Square alongside India Palace. This is a small, independently owned ice cream shop easily accessed by foot traffic - I'm not sure about the parking situation but would assume parking can be found in side streets or small backlots. While visiting Boston for a business meeting my and associate Sid and I discovered Union Square (upon the recommendation by someone at Tavern at the End of the World) and came upon India Palace, where we had a more than satisfying dinner. While standing outside waiting for the Holiday Inn shuttle I mentioned that ice cream would be the perfect end to our exploration - thus we found Gracie's quite by accident since it's located right next-door! Walking into a small ice cream shop is interesting as you never know what you will find. The outside of Gracie's in adorned by a folding sign with a couple of hand-drawn images that were quite fun and cute, with a Halloween motif (we were in Boston the week before Halloween). The interior continued with the Halloween decoration using the fibrous webbing that seems to be popular among locals. The artwork continued inside with hand-drawn boards behind the counter. After asking a few questions we each ordered a scoop on a sugar cone - I tired an interesting orange-vanilla that tasted like a Push-Up (which was described quite accurately to me by the person behind the counter (Gracie?). We ate our ice cream while waiting on our shuttle, which of course never showed up. When we called them back they replied "I waited and no one was there" - hmm. In any case, while waiting we had quite a discussion with, I'm presuming the owner that was interesting, mostly about the Union Square area and it's recent gentrification. She was quite friendly and informative and provided fantastic service. She indicated that a local artist did the boards upon inquiry. The ice cream was quite good with some interesting flavors - we'll try to hit Gracie's again the next time we're in Boston. (also posted to my food blog) read more
Came here as I waited for my bus. I wanted to try the Salted Whiskey. The first bite tasted a little like whiskey but the rest of the ice cream just tasted like vanilla. I wish it was slightly creamier, less water content. It was a hot day but also my ice cream was melting incredibly fast, it ended up being super messy, no matter how fast I ate. The biggest pro for me was the huge cone even though I ordered a kiddie size. Service was great too! The place is painted super cute. There's a couple tables and window seats. read more

Came here on the first warm Saturday night in spring in Boston, and there was predictably a line out the door. Gracie's doesn't have a ton of flavors, but it has old favorites and some really neat innovative new ones too -- pop tart and swiss cake roll were both really tasty, and the kiddie is more like a small at other ice cream shops. Their ice cream is a little on the melty side, but I think that's more a function of how busy they are -- their case is almost never closed! Definitely spring for the fluff cone since that is super fun...although they really shove the fluff all the way into the bottom of the cone -- nice because that means the ice cream doesn't leak out the bottom, but a little sad because that means you get sugary marshmallow at the bottom instead of ice cream! read more
Writing my 100th review on Gracie's is so well deserved because 1. Gracie's serves delicious dessert, and we all know I love my sweets, and 2. They're located just outside of Boston, which is currently my favorite place in America. :) *To all my Chicagoans-- it's super similar to Jeni's!* The space: Fun little neighborhood ice cream shop. It's very quaint with minimal seating and lots of extras you can buy, such as t-shirts, caps and mugs. The flavors: We were very interested in the Poptart flavor, and when I say they captured the taste of a strawberry Poptart, I 100% mean it! I ended up going with the Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, which was a sinfully delicious chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips, brownie pieces and cookie dough. The ice cream itself was so creamy and dense that I was in heaven. My BF went with the traditional coffee flavor and said it's the best coffee ice cream he's ever had. We both ordered smalls, which is actually two scoops, for $4/piece. The service: The woman working wasn't overly friendly by any means, but it was cool to watch her make the ice cream after serving us. I love that you can literally see that it's homemade; no false claims at Gracie's! Definitely worth a visit for a tasty treat! I'm loving it! read more

A Somerville gem! Why didn't I discover this place sooner? We strolled by Union Square after got slightly disappointed with the hyped Bow Market, and decided that ice cream is probably what we needed. Gracie's store is small, unpretentious, and filled with happy friendly staff. I opted for the Mango, which the server recommended to enjoy with chili-lime salt. It was perfect! Creamy, not too sweet and the mango flavor was nicely balanced. BF opted for the grape nut and cold brew, which were equally delicious as my pick. Will definitely come back again soon! read more
