I think the top thing for me was how tender the meats were, so often when you go through a line the meat tends to be dry. My friend and I both got the plate I had the shredded pork (super tender and flavorful) and she had the lemon chicken also extremely tender and flavorful! I got a mix of the lemon rice and cous cous both yummy. I got the cucumber tomato mix & the greek salad as my sides and a mixture of all 3 sauces (highly recommend all 3). I love this spot! I've been going about once a week since I discovered it. It's the perfect, healthy fast casual dinner or lunch when I don't have time to cook for myself! I got the salad option with lemon chicken. Added rice and pasta salad for my sides. The dressing for the salad lacked the flavors I wanted. It was more of a great olive oil with a hint of Greek seasoning. But mixing it all together with the chicken and lemony rice helped add the flavor I was missing. The chicken had gotten cold in the warmer since it was so late. The pita I would prefer griddled so it's warm and a bit crisped on the edges. He got the gyro plate and said it was just ok. GR is a favorite for that kind of day when you just can't decide what to do for dinner--but you want something with flavor. I can see this place being tasty if you don't come here 30 minutes before closing like I mistakenly did. They hardly had anything available and what was still left was either soggy or dried out from sitting around all day. Flavors were still decent although everything was a little too salty. I had a plate with gyro meat, pita, quinoa, roasted veggies, and greek salad. I got all that food for less than $10! Definitely worth the price. The other downfall that left a bad taste in my mouth was one of the employees I had to deal with. You could tell he did not want to be there. He moped around and wasn't very helpful at all. The girls working were friendly and helpful though. He had forgotten my pita completely and they made sure I was taken care of. Hopefully he was just having an off day. Will I come back? Maybe. Between Padelis downtown, Spitz all over SLC, and Greek City Grill that is right next to my gym, I don't see any reason to drive out to this restaurant. We used to love GR Kitchen, but they have just gotten steadily worse. I can say that today is the last time. They have now gone to using iPad kiosks, which now nickel and dime you for every little change. Two of us walked out with a bill of $33 (not including tip) with two meals and one drink. That's ridiculously expensive for a fast food Greek restaurant. We got the meals home and the gyro meat was dry and hardly edible. The salad had hardly any Greek dressing on it and was completely dry. They charged a $1 extra if you wanted both white and red sauce... they used to just include it. Never again! And... I should probably mention they used to yell at people for not wearing masks, which is really comical now because they have a 6' social distancing sign on their door and force you to be within inches of each other to use their kiosks. GR Kitchen is not only accommodating to my picky taste buds, but their food is amazing! I have been to GR kitchen 9-10x in the last few months. This place has successfully turned me into a Greek food junkie....and I'm ok with it! The food: Classic gyro: onions, tomatoes, feta, lamb and Tzatziki sauce. The gyro artist first grills the pita bread on the flat top before loading it with slow roasted meats and mouth watering toppings. The lamb is lean and cooked to perfection. Lemon rice: A thick creamy rice, that is spiced perfectly with lemon and spices. A great offset to the saltiness from the feta in the gyro. Value: The prices are fair for the quality and amount of food that you get. Complaint: My only complaint would be that the service is very hit or miss. Customer service can be great if you get the right person. I have received bad service 2-3 times since I started eating it.....I'm hoping they were just flukes. You can load up on fresh veggies, such as roasted tri-colored potatoes, olives, roasted mixed veggies (zucchini and broccoli), tomato & red onion salad, cheeses, a variety of grains, and other toppings and really make the dish your own.
