The space is very inviting, offering a cozy atmosphere with a mix of floor seating and booths that feels both comfortable and unique. Our waitress was fantastic--attentive without being intrusive, regularly refilling our cups and checking in to see if we needed anything. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary soup to start, which had a genuinely homemade, comforting feel. I ordered the Soltani, and it did not disappoint: the ground beef kabob was incredibly flavorful and practically melted in my mouth, while the steak was good, though slightly tough. The rice and grilled tomato were a perfect accompaniment known that tied the whole dish together nicely. I really wanted to love this place. Actually, I called a month in advance to reserve a table because it was a special family dinner. We traveled far. Walked in the place, it was empty. Half of the restaurant was being renovated. People were working on the remodel as we dined. I am sure it will be nice. We ordered quite a bit of food, what we got was the perplexing part. They brought a delicious barley soup, no explanation, but was nice. 3 of the 5 things we ordered were incorrect. I mean really? We were the only people in the restaurant! So many people checked on us to see if it was ok. I was embarrassed for them. The koobideh was fantastic but we ordered two mix- we really wanted to try the chicken. Fesenjun is delicious, I have never had with beef before, usually is chicken. The yogurt was good, needed a tad bit of salt. The gormeh sabzi never came, instead we got an eggplant curd, which was good but.... Overall good food but such a strange experience. We so bad wanted a great Persian family meal on a Friday night. I think they changed their name to Aria Palace with the new ownership, so I'm going to cross post this under both. This was REALLY outside of my comfort zone, but I'm trying to push myself to try new things. When I walked in, I was warmly greeted. The whole place felt very inviting. It was fairly empty for lunch on a Friday but more people did filter in throughout my meal. They are a Pepsi establishment, and my Diet Pepsi was pretty good! I ordered the mix koobideh kabob which comes with one chicken and one beef kabob. It also comes with rice, onion, and basmati rice. I also ordered a side of plain naan since they were out of garlic. The meal comes with soup. The soup smelled amazing and looked nutritious with lentils and vegetables. I'm personally not a soup person because I don't like mushy foods, so the texture was hard for me but I thought the flavor was great. The kabobs smelt AMAZING and the flavors match it. The meat on both was incredibly tender and juicy. The flavors really came through nicely. I also really enjoyed the grilled tomato. I personally afraid to order chicken since most restaurants I went to always comes out dry, but the chicken was cooked perfectly. I would definitely come back when I visit Salt Lake City again. My best friend, son and I were on the lookout for something unique l for lunch and discovered Zeitoon Cafe-a lovely Persian restaurant located in a strip mall in Midvale. To our delight, there was a more traditional seating option to sit on a flat platform with a rug instead of a table and chairs (although that's also an option for people who prefer it). That elevated the entire experience, quite literally...ha! The food was delicious-and the portion sizes were massive. We all got different things and shared with each other so we could try them all. Such a lovely little Persian restaurant that deserves some attention! Everyone who works here was so nice and attentive to all the customers' needs. The dishes came out quickly and the portions are huge! Inside is decorated well and had some calming music playing in the background. Now onto the food: this was my first time having Persian food, but I came with my brother and his wife who eat Persian food often. I'd definitely get some appetizers! The shallot yogurt dip was surprisingly so refreshing and flavorful, and you can't go wrong with any of the eggplant dips! Next time we come, we'll get the hummus! For the main entrees, we got 2 lamb and 1 beef dish. The lamb shank was SO tender and every bit of it was covered in flavor. The seasoned rice and sauce with carrots were the perfect pairing to the lamb. The beef kabob we got was also so so tender and packed with flavor. I've never had beef that tender and I will definitely order this every time I come. I loved the addition of the tomatoes and onions on the side. We also saved some of our dips to eat with the meat which I'd highly recommend. Oh and the barley chicken soup!! What a great way to start off our meal. Zeitoon welcomed us with a very chill dinner vibe on a Friday night. We had eggplant dip, beef kabob and lamb shank. Generally we felt like dishes could be more salty, but then we also realized that allowed us to finish the whole dish without the need to chug a gallon of water. I do wish it's a little bit more flavorful with spices; I could taste hints of spice but it definitely didn't hit me. Eggplant dip is ok, the bread that went with it was not warm. Lamb shank was great, very tender, the sauce that went with it is delicious 10/10, the rice was fragrant but I hoped it would be more tender. Beef kabob was very tender, the grilled tomatoes that went with it was a little bland. At the beginning the service was slow and a bit confusing, but towards the end of the meal we got a lot more attention from another staff, which helped us leave earlier with a baby. I'm told the ownership has recently changed. My group and I are visiting from Southern CA, which is the hub 9f Persian Food outside of Iran. These guys served us some of the best Persian food I have had in a while. The yogurt and dough was home made and absolutely wonderful. I'm late on posting my review but receiving some of my favorite goodies from Zeitoon Market were a reminder that I'm way overdue from posting my review for this great, and clean Middle Eastern Market in Midvale Utah...They carry all your middle eastern needs from Persian cucumbers to fruits, vegetables, spices and etc. We love their barbari bread which they make in their store, and even ask them to make ours without sesame but most people enjoy them with the sesame on them which is the way they normally bake them... They carry all kinds of Persian goodies/snacks, like my favorite little lavashak (dried sour fruits similar to fruit roll ups) which are wrapped into a little candy wrap which makes them easier to eat... They are soft, juicy and sour just like the way I love them, and their sour cherry jam is a must try!!!! They are adhering to all COVID-19 guidelines which is great and they require that you wear a mask inside their store, and they even have disposable gloves you can use upon entering their store... I really love Persian food and since I moved from the SF Bay Area to San Diego it's been pretty hard to find. It is different from Greek and Mediterranean definitely a distinct cuisine. That being said, I read the off the hook reviews about this place and decided that we must try it! When you enter the restaurant it's actually a market on the left side and the restaurant on the other side through some swinging doors. We seated ourselves near the windows in the pleasant dining room. This is definitely a family run operation which are always the best! I ordered the mixed kebabs with chicken and ground beef skewers in a large Naan And my husband ordered two chicken skewers with rice and grilled tomatoes. To our surprise we were served a nice lentil soup prior to our entrées. It had a tomato-base and lots of lentils in it as well as vegetables. When the plates were delivered the portions were massive! I'm glad I opted to have my entrée served with bread and my hubby's entrée was served with rice and grilled tomatoes. I am pretty selective about my kebabs and this is really yummy Persian food. The kebabs and rice were so delicious I love them served with the Rob white onions. The real bonus is the market, so many interesting things there to buy and try. The owner is really pleasant chatted with him for a while, he said he will be adding a few menu items in the next couple months perhaps some falafel I suggested a lamb kebab would be awesome addition to their menu. I love this little market, it has a selection of teas, couscous, bulgur, Persian cucumbers, the biggest pomegranates you've ever seen, cheeses, spices, flatbreads, many flavors of water, halal meats, and more. I got the ground beef kabob with bread, and barley soup. The soup was delicious and tomato-ey. Very hot, perfect for a snowy Saturday. The kabob was to die for! Deliciously seasoned, juicy meat inside a large piece of fresh flatbread with onions, lemon wedges, a grilled chicken ima tomato, and extra sumac. I felt the soup portion was just right, and the kabob serving was generous (but I usually take half of whatever I order home). Update time! This sweet family owned market has become my favorite nearby option for Middle Eastern groceries. It is my go to spot for fresh dill, and they always have sweet baby cucumbers along with a few other produce items, depending on the season. Over the winter, I found Seville oranges, and I've never seen those elsewhere. Other favorites include a variety of prepackaged halva (now they just need to offer fresh cut!), halloumi and nabulsi cheeses (both of these are non-melting. If you get your hands on some, pan fry, or better yet, grill 'em, and serve plain or with jam. You're welcome.), bulk nuts and dried fruits, rose water, pomegranate molasses, Takdis fruit candies, and Mashti Malone ice cream. They also have some home goods, and too many more grocery products to list. Starting at 4:00pm on Saturdays, they charcoal grill kabobs: chicken, koobideh (beef/lamb mix), and liver, paired with pizza-sized flatbread, grilled tomatoes, and sumac and parsley seasoned onions. Prices range from 1.99-3.99 per kabob, and include all the accoutrements above, but you will receive just one piece of bread per type of meat (which is plenty, trust me!). I always request extra veggies, and they are generous. I take my order to go, as do many, but there is seating inside the market, and later in the evening, several families often occupy it. Note, meats are grilled to order, meaning you'll wait about 15-20 minutes. I let them know what I'd like as soon as I enter, then enjoy myself meandering around the market making new discoveries. In the deli case at checkout, they offer various house made foods: Almost always yogurt, and most recently I got some zeytoon parvardeh, a tart olive/walnut/pomegranate dip. Yum! You'll also find some baked goods, including an excellent baklava. All employees are friendly, but there can be a language barrier. When their daughter is available, I ask more detailed questions, and she is always happy to answer, taking her time to make sure I understand. Wow! Nice find in unsuspecting part of Ft. Union. Nice middle eastern market with tons of variety. Is ticked up on international spices. I decided to come back and try the cafe.
