This is a pretty decent little international grocery. It's not my favorite, but it's closest to my house, and they do carry some items I haven't been able to find elsewhere (most notably sumac, which I searched for FOREVER). They have a good selection of spices, rice, ghee, beans, tahini, and Indian snack food. They have a refrigerated/frozen section with paneer and some meat, and a small amount of beauty products as well. Prices are reasonable, and if you do buy spices they are sold by the bag, so as long as you'll use it all they are a great deal. Most of the time it is the same guy at the cash register who helps me and he is really friendly, but yesterday I visited and there was no one out front, although I could hear people working in the back. A man came out and looked at me, but didn't say anything, and went right back to the stock room. I was actually looking for a specific spice, but ended up leaving empty handed because I couldn't find it (that's another thing, their organization is a bit haphazard, especially when it comes to the spices). This is the first time that's happened, but it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. I have no doubt I'll be back, but most likely I'll check other stores first in the future. Oh, and just a note, it is a small store, and on the weekends it can get packed. There is only one cash register, so if you see a lot of cars in the lot I'd come back, otherwise you might wait 15 or 20 minutes to check out. read more

Cash and Carry is an Indian grocery store bar none! They have the very best quality and selection of Indian groceries, spices, and ingredients in suburban Salt Lake County. The produce department is an Indian cook's dream come true. They have everything! If you can't find what you are looking for their downtown store Shop n Go is your next best bet. Last week I was looking for fresh turmeric root to color my hair and the owners at Cash and Carry had it specially transported from downtown to Cottonwood Heights just for me! I am so impressed with the friendly and great service, I heart this place! Even if you are not a Desi kitchen goddess, please visit the store and stock up on the frozen prepared foods, kulfi, spices, fresh vegetables, bracelets, juices, and Indian knick knacks. It is difficult to find an Indian grocery store in Cottonwood Heights or anywhere in the Southeastern triangle that 15 and 215 have created. To conquer this problem, I scoured the internet and came across a helpful blog about Desi (South Asian) grocery stores in Utah http://desiutah.blogspot.com/2010/01/indian-grocery-stores-in-utah.html Cash n Carry, Sandy which I later found out is an offshoot of Shop N Go in Salt Lake City is extremely well-stocked. They keep fresh ingredients like dosa (Indian crepe) mix, goat meat and curry leaves to a variety of spices, lentils and all major Indian consumer product brands. They also stock utensils used in Desi cooking and items used in religious rituals. It took a little bit of small talk to warm up to the man at the counter but he appeared to be friendlier than the average Desi grocery store owner. All in all, I am happy that they are open every day of the week including Sundays. For people visiting this store for the first time, it might be a little difficult to spot because they do not have prominent signage. I have been here on occassions but really the problem with this store is how everything is stacked up like a warehouse and not like a store I once even found some expired products on the shelves here but the saving grace and reason for my 2 stars is it does offer mostly everything a indian cooking menu would require for some core items that we make in indian cooking. The options available is another saving grace but come on they could do better in area of hygene, store ambience, arrangement , have an enhance billing system and service as these do seem to be below par to me. It almost seems like they are sort of playing the monopoly card and doing nothing to improve the store because the options for indian stores are definitely limited in utah and the owners seem to know that and seem almost reluctant to invest into making customer experience better, seems a bit stingy and greedy to me. A visit to indian grocery store is expensive, however on this front alteast they seem better albeit slightly than a couple of other stores in valley but sorry the poor nature of store itself with EXPIREDDDD!!!!! Product on shelves come on guys even my 2 stars seems like i am being generous as these can maybe cause people to become sick and then you probably have a expensive lawsuit in your hands. Expensive store, doesn't have variety lacks quantity and quality of stuff. Seems all desi grocery stores are just making money in SLC. It was hard to find what flour but when we found it, it was extremely expensive compared to what price we buy in pocatello and boise. Cleanliness is also a major issue of this shop. read more

The best reasonably priced store for Indian groceries. From rice that taste better than any other rice available, fresh veggies, items used for religious ceremonies, frozen Indian snacks, dry Indian snacks, deserts and spices, Indian tea leaves and biscuits - the store has it all. This is used to be the only Indian grocery in south valley a few years ago. They are well stocked with Indian groceries. Suman the manager is very pplite and helpful. I have not had a bad experience in six years. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! EXPIRED ITEMS!! CHECK THE EXPIRE DATES BEFOR YOU BUY OTHER WISE YOU WILL GET BLAME FROM BRINGING IT FROM HOME! We'll I just moved here and it's close to my house my first visit was last visit. I bought few items after leaving I sat in the car and I realized one item was expired I went inside told the person I just bought this and it's expired and want to exchange it. Instead of saying sorry she blamed on me that I brought it from home! They don't Carry expired items she said. I told her it's my first time she won't believe me! Finally I left with the expired item cause I don't want to argue. They have the worst customer service. And carry the expired items intentionally I believe after reading other customers reviews! read more

I am very disappointed with this place. They sell expired items intentionally. If you have to buy anything there then make sure you check the expiry date first. Also, they sold a broken god idol to me. He knew while selling it that it is broken, he asked me are you sure you want to buy it? Then he asked to make sure nothing is broken or missing. I did not know much what to look for but I bet he knew. He said if you buy it you can not return it. When I reached home I realized how he cheated. I would say never go there until they improve, instead there is another Indian store near Ganesha Hindu Temple called "Indian Spice Land", I have never found bad quality or expired stuff. They put an effort actually to remove the expired stuff from shelves. This is what I appreciate. But the "Cash n carry" they do not remove expired stuff because they want there customers to buy it by mistake because no body gonna check expiry date on every item they out in their cart. read more
