I have been coming to this restaurant for a while now, and I am sad to say that our most recent take-home order was greatly disappointing. While the food tastes decent, we had ordered the appetizer combo, which comes with a choice of four appetizers. It was about $26. This price is outrageous for the little that we got. We received one Samosa and about a fourth of what you would regularly get with a normal order. You would get more bang for your buck if you just order the normal appetizers instead of the sampler. I even called the restaurant to double check that they had not accidentally made a mistake, and the person I spoke with confirmed that the quantity we received was correct. He then went onto explain that the online company that puts up their restaurant menu has not updated the menu. I feel like this explanation is weak because a restaurant should not surprise customers with a food quality and price change like this. The price does not match the quantity that you get, and I feel cheated. Because of this outrageous issue, I will not be coming here until they match the quantity of food with the price. read more

Due to my grain allergy there are only a handful of restaurants where I can eat. Shanashel Mediterranean Cuisine is one of them. They prep everything, including the shwarma, in house. My personal favorite is the hummus, falafel & Tikka chicken. We eat here at least twice a month. If you are in the Salt Lake Valley and enjoy middle eastern cuisine I highly recommend. Recently, we had a large family gathering of 20 people, and the staff handled it wonderfully. Our server was attentive and friendly, making sure everyone was taken care of. The food is made fresh daily and always tastes great. Since everything is prepared to order, it can take a little time, but it's well worth the wait for the quality. New favorite grab and go! Well, its not truly a preprepped place, but finally zipping in and ordering a falafel wrap didnt take long at all. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavors packed in this ten inch long wrap. A little Tahini on the side was the perfect accent. Beautifully decorated & clean restaurant with lots of natural lights coming in from the glass walls. My husband drops by here once in 2-3 months Today I ordered our usual, the Mix Grill with Rice and Salad for three ($55.99). Their serving/portion size is very generous! This was my first time at Shanasheel, and I was impressed. My grandparents immigrated from Lebanon to Brazil, so I grew up with both Arabic and Portuguese at home. Although we eventually stopped learning Arabic, the food was like this one at Shanasheel. Authentic in all aspects! Some dishes I like are not on the menu Shishbarak (yogurt soup with dumplings) and sfiha, but they said the attentive staff took note. The ambiance is nice, clean, and relaxing. I've been curious about this place and decided to place a pick up order on a whim. I got the Mix for 3 which included a variety of meats over a hefty bed of rice and some roasted veggies (I believe it had the tikka chicken, beef pieces, chicken and beef kabobs). The meat was tender and rice was so fluffy! I really recommend it here!! read more

I just had lunch here and fully agree with the 2 previous reviews . The food is incredibly delicious, and with a very generous size serving ( took half of mine home / it could be another lunch ) However the only negative was the service being beyond painfully s l o w. Wow!!! I went here with my husband and we shared a plate for two people the meat was so good and the bread huge. The fries excellent and our server was nice we told her it was our first time she made us feel comfortable. I loved the music they played and the place was nice decorated. Plenty of seating I heard this place can get real busy. Price was reasonable glad we shared the plate we still had leftovers. Parking was not too bad either and it easy to get to. It was such a great experience here. Service was great, super friendly, and very attentive. The food was hot and so yummy. We came here for the lamb shank, and it didn't disappoint. Best labneh in Salt Lake City, my favorite. Portion size is much better here. They have a very large menu that hits Lebanese, Persian, Arab. I believe it's family ran, I see the same people each time and they are always kind. Perfect space for large groups. Large booths, plenty of tables. I loooove that they are on Uber east. My go to is the fried chicken and the chicken shawarma wrap Arab style. Plates are large. read more

Food was good, but service very poor. Waitress clueless about the service industry and could not understand the basic needs of plates, utensiles, etc. What I found really upsetting was the fact that I left my CC behind. Called the restaurant later that day and left a message to call me ASAP to arrange for me to pick back up. That call never came which would explain why the would be thief went on a spending spree running a tab up of $5000 before my bank shut it down. That being said, I can only say AVOID this place and their dishonest methods. read more

Dec/10/2022 We ordered multiple food items , grilled fish tasted bitter and very old ( it have been deep frozen for along time to the point the inner fish meat discolored and no longer white , as the fish looked and tasted bad ) Shawarma on top of Hummus - Hummus was okay ,Shawarma tasted old meat have been heated ( it was not freshly cooked , it taste from last night or two nights before and heated in a microwave then put on top of Hummus )The other items we ordered was good. "Shocking behavior" we brought the issue to the server , she just said okay ! I requested the manager ( she said manager will be here 7:30 pm ( it was 3:30 pm ) so someone else came in she apologized and she said she will replace the fish with Lamb Tikka as the fish they have might be spoiled I accepted the offer and thanked them .. THEN someone else came to our table . Said :the fish more than one bite on it so no replacement no refund!!! I am like sorry who is this ( said it was the mother of the manager and she wouldn't honor the other lady work their offer ). Ahmazing food! Have to admit I was skeptical when we got to the place and there was no one there. Service was great as it was very personable, I have trust that the female server (bummed I cannot remember her name) does treat all her customers the same, friendly yet professional manner. She was very sweet. I enjoyed looking at the different arts they have hanging and the light fixtures were so pretty. The music she was playing definitely added to the authentic vibe in the restaurant. The fried whole fish was soooo delicious and cooked perfectly. The skin on the grilled chicken was yummy and the beef kabab was so falvorful. We both shared all three plates, and were both so full and had to take the rest home with us. This place needs more love and support from their community, its certainly underrated. Would I go back? 100% yes.. well when I'm back in SLC. read more

A phenomenal restaurant in our humble opinion. When my family is in town, it makes four of us so we order the Mix for Four. It comes with a little bit of everything, a salad for each person, all the different meats that are offered on the menu on a bed of rice with peppers onions and tomatoes. We all enjoy each type of meat they offer from the chicken shawarma to the lamb kebabs. If you order your meal without garlic sauce you're seriously missing out. I can't believe I've never taken a picture but it fed four people who absolutely over ate. Then it provided six more meals from the leftovers! It's so worth it. As a mediterranean family we love the ambiance of the restaurant, it brings us back to our own culture that we don't really have here in Utah. My only quarrel with the restaurant is the service. We expect to wait forever, get forgotten and quite frankly ignored. Each visit has been like this and each time without fail we don't get our waters for about 20/30 minutes. With that being said I'd give this place the fifth star if they gave me even mediocre service, the foods been worth it to us and we keep coming back. read more

The food looks very appetizing but in reality it tastes like armpit and dove soap. My first red flag was the fact that I was the only person in the room but then I could also hear my food being microwaved in the back which I normally don't mind microwaved food, but it's only okay if it still tastes good but in this case it did not. The only good thing about this place is the serving staff is really kind. Went there a few days ago to try it, and will never be back. Menu is misleading and ambiguous, whether on purpose or not. My wife had ordered an eggplant dish, and the waitress asked whether she wanted it with meat or vegetarian. When the dish arrived it only had a few potatoes and onions, no meat and it turned out, no eggplants. When we mentioned that to the waitress, she just said it was either meat + eggplant, or vegetarian, as if eggplant was not a veggie. In addition, the minuscule serving of hummus came with only 4 equally minuscule pieces of pita bread, and when we order more bread, they charged us extra. In addition, the food was bland, and the meat I had tough. We definitely do not recommend. read more

Been here a few times and the food is good, but I was there yesterday for lunch and ordered a shawarma sandwich with no fries which as stated on their menu includes cabbage, tomatoes and pickles. I was disappointed when it arrived and the only items in the sand which were pickles and chicken. I spoke to the server and he brought me the sides, this was only after being confused at my request and brining me a side of fries. The server was not very attentive and I had to flag him down for our check. I requested the check be separated, it wasn't. In addition I was charged $5 for the items listed on the menu as being included with my sandwich. I paid $15 for a sandwich that is usually $8.99. Food is good, but very poor service, won't be going back. read more

Super disappointed with their customer service and food. Advised their waitress/hostess I had gluten allergies prior to ordering, was told certain items were gluten free after confirming with their chef, $60 bill and 2 hours later I was sick for 3 days. Never going back. I'm middle eastern and have eaten at other middle eastern establishments that promote real gluten free items and I've never once gotten sick.
