One of the benefits of having a diverse friend group is that they will occasionally introduce me to some wonderful food that I wouldn't have found on my own. This was one of those such experiences. I have a friend who eats Halal, and when we go to lunch, she recommends places that have dishes she can eat, including Beirut Cafe. It's adjacent to a gas station, but don't let that deter you. The food is delicious and is worth a stop. You order at the counter, then pick it up a little while later when it's ready. I guess they'd call that "fast casual." Not only do they have great food, but they serve Farr ice cream, which is my favorite ice cream brand on the planet. I noticed that there's also a patio, which would be a fun place to enjoy a meal on a warm day. I'll definitely be back to give that a try this summer.

Beef Shawarma Plate

Met a friend here, and we both enjoyed our experience. I'm not an expert in Mediterranean cuisine, but I would say our food was pretty tasty. My beef tasted a little like lamb, but it was still enjoyable, so no real complaints here. The inside is clean with ample tables and chairs. Bonus points for also having an ice cream shop in the restaurant as well! The next time I'm in the mood for Mediterranean food, I'll probably try some other spots, but this is still a good option.

Pita Bread (1pc) (maybe we got two bc I ordered a kids meal?)

Has its own parking lot. Totally empty at 3 on a Friday. My son got the kids chicken shawarma and I got the chicken shawarma plate. Plus we got 2 drinks. I was annoyed that it was $40 at first but then neither of us could finish our meals! 2 people could easily share 1 meal. My son loved his fries and said the fry sauce was good too. And we both really enjoyed the very flavorful chicken and rice (make sure to try the garlicky white stuff... no idea what it is but I put a dab on my fork before each bite and it was so tasty). And of course I liked the food but pretty cool that a kid enjoyed this as well. Universal appeal!

Side of Gyro Meat (3pcs)

Beirut Cafe is a clean and cozy spot, and I really liked that they have an ice cream shop attached to it too! I tried the chicken shawarma, a side of gyro, and kibbeh. The kibbeh was absolutely delicious and my favorite of the bunch. The chicken shawarma was solid and came with hummus and bread, which made it a filling meal. About halfway through, I felt like the dishes could use a bit more spice or heat--would be nice if they offered that option. Overall though, the food was tasty, the place felt neat and welcoming, and I'd definitely come back again.

5/5 So yummy. The pita bread is so soft and fresh. Spontaneously decided to try this place and I'm so glad we did.

Their food is not cheap but it is worth every penny. It is the best lebanese food in slc!! The service is also amazing and the employees great.

Labne w/ Garlic

Delicious food! I chose the chicken & shrimp plate with a side of labne. This was a lot of food! Everything was so delicious and I especially enjoyed the flavorful and juicy chicken kabob. Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant is kept very clean and neat. Looking forward to my next visit!

Haven't been here in a while but it's as good as I remembered. Got a couple items, but the Lamb Kebab plate was such a standout. The meat was extremely tender and flavorful, definitely my favorite thing here. The Shish Kafta was overcooked, otherwise it would have been really good. The rice pilaf is killer, and I really enjoyed the pickled veggies. I'm not a huge fan of hummus, but their pita is fantastic so it paired well. Forgot what chicken wrap we got, but the garlic sauce is a banger as well as their fries. Lastly, their baba ghanouj is excellent, I will definitely try more of the different appetizers in the future.

This place is SOO good. Best bang for your buck mediterranean food in salt lake city. Portions are super generous. Lamb was nice and tender. Pita bread was SOO fluffy. HIGHLY recommended. Make sure to treat yourself to some ice cream after the delicious meal.

Beirut Cafe has a great menu with lots of options for carnivores and vegetarians alike. I have been on the hunt for something like Zankou Chicken in California and this place comes close! I love the shawarma and hummus! I need to come back and try a few things... one can only eat so much! Minus one star for the meat being overcooked on the skewers but in general it was very tasty. The ambiance is weird... more like the fare ice-cream store next to it in the same building but I don't care about appearance in this case... Take your food to go! And Enjoy!

Just had the falafel sandwich. Took me back home. The pickle, turnip, falafel and wrap itself felt so authentic! Thank you.

My go-to is the appetizer sampler, with a large side of gyro meat, and a cup of chicken lime & rice soup. I cannot even put into words how amazing the gyro meat is. It's so tender, seasoned to perfection, and sliced super thick. One bite of the chicken lime & rice soup and all my troubles melt away. It's SO flavorful and just warms the soul. My kids (and me) are a big fan of the chicken Alfredo, which is a little different than expected, but SO yummy and the added veggies are so nice! I also recommend the Pesto Mushroom Ravioli or the Mediterranean Lasagna. We ALWAYS end our meal with the chocolate confusion which is sinfully delicious, and sometimes get the baklava which is pure crispy, sweet, sticky happiness. Everyone who works here is so pleasant and nice. We LOVE the Med and recommend it to everyone and anyone we meet!

It's like dining in a sun-soaked courtyard by the sea. Yes, it's a little kitschy--but in the best way. It totally adds to the charm. I've been here a few times, and every visit's been a win. It has a true mom-and-pop vibe, the staff is always warm, and while things can slow down when it's busy, that just means everything's made fresh--and worth the wait. (I don't mind. I came to enjoy, not rush.) This round: We started with a crisp, fresh salad and their classic hummus with pita--simple, bright, and the perfect kickoff. I had the Koofteh Meatballs--jumbo Persian-style beef meatballs stuffed with apricots, simmered in a tangy tomato sauce and served with basmati rice. The meat? Tender. The sauce? A whole flavor moment. My other half went with the Bagala Polow, a slow-stewed lamb shank served on dill basmati rice with lima beans and a side of lamb au jus. That dill rice? Unexpected and so, so good. Bonus points for the community vibes: While we were dining, someone celebrated a birthday--and they shared their mango cake with the whole restaurant. Such a sweet surprise that shows the spirit of the place. Final thoughts: Decor - Slightly kitschy, totally charming. Like eating in a postcard. Food - Flavorful, fresh, and made with heart. Community - The kind of place that turns strangers into dinner party guests. Our go-to for Mediterranean eats--highly recommend!

I ordered the Beef Shawarma and my wife got the Musakhen with fries. The Clam Chowder was good. I've certainly had better, like at Market Street in town or at the Brigantine in the San Diego area. The server was kind of stumbling over his words when he described it and until it arrived I wasn't sure if it was going to be New England clam chowder or Manhattan. He proclaimed that it was the best clam chowder you'll ever get at a Middle Eastern restaurant and I can't really argue about that. The Beef Shawarma is served in a wrap that is open at both ends and cut in half. They put a small portion of pickled items on the plate and dust everything with sumac powder. The beef is thinly sliced. I really didn't enjoy the flavor. The greens in the wrap were extremely bitter and in my opinion it made for an unpleasant flavor. Maybe I just got extra bitter greens on mine but it was overwhelming everything else. I didn't like that the wrap was open, I had to lean over my plate as I ate because the sauce was dripping out and I didn't want to get it on my clothes. Eventually I gave up and used my fork to pull the meat out of the other half so that I could avoid the bitterness. The Musakhen (that's how it is spelled on the menu) was also a wrap. I tried a bite and I liked that better than the beef Shawarma but I still didn't really like something about the flavor. The fries were nicely crispy and fresh but there is a seasoning on them that really wanted to be on my fingers more than it wanted to be on the fries or my napkin. Like no matter how hard I tried to wipe it off there was still some of it on my fingers. Once again there was something about the flavor I didn't really like. My wife eventually offered up some of the aioli and it made it a little better but once again I didn't really like the flavor of the aioli. So for whatever reason the flavors there just aren't for me. My wife on the other hand was very excited about everything and was talking about all the things she was going to try the next time we visited. I didn't want to be a negative bummer during the meal but I was thinking she was going to have to come back with someone other than me. The restaurant is nice and they have very good service. There were a few other tables of large groups and it seems like this is a place that works well for get togethers. Parking is not adequate at all. We got a spot but only because we got there at 4:50 for dinner. I overheard other people talking about the trouble they had finding a spot.
