We wanted to try something new and this restaurant popped up in the area with great reviews. It's the cutest cafe in canyon rim in a shopping center with quite a few other restaurants. The restaurant is tiny with seating inside and outside but it's incredibly cozy. The owners are just the sweetest offering us a taste of their coffee as a Lebanese tradition. I ordered the beef kafta and my hubby ordered the chicken shawarma. The food is prepared to order. When I tell you it's fresh this is the freshest food I've ever tasted. Even the side salad was not premade, they chopped all the ingredients after we ordered. Even the meat was cooked fresh. As a result the meats were so juicy and flavorful. The staff was just so friendly, kind and personable. It's rare to find such a cute restaurant with reasonable prices and staff that make you feel like family. Despite the war raging in their home country their positive outlook and demeanor was something to be admired. Will absolutely be back.

I ordered the Beef Shawarma and my wife got the Musakhen with fries. The Clam Chowder was good. I've certainly had better, like at Market Street in town or at the Brigantine in the San Diego area. The server was kind of stumbling over his words when he described it and until it arrived I wasn't sure if it was going to be New England clam chowder or Manhattan. He proclaimed that it was the best clam chowder you'll ever get at a Middle Eastern restaurant and I can't really argue about that. The Beef Shawarma is served in a wrap that is open at both ends and cut in half. They put a small portion of pickled items on the plate and dust everything with sumac powder. The beef is thinly sliced. I really didn't enjoy the flavor. The greens in the wrap were extremely bitter and in my opinion it made for an unpleasant flavor. Maybe I just got extra bitter greens on mine but it was overwhelming everything else. I didn't like that the wrap was open, I had to lean over my plate as I ate because the sauce was dripping out and I didn't want to get it on my clothes. Eventually I gave up and used my fork to pull the meat out of the other half so that I could avoid the bitterness. The Musakhen (that's how it is spelled on the menu) was also a wrap. I tried a bite and I liked that better than the beef Shawarma but I still didn't really like something about the flavor. The fries were nicely crispy and fresh but there is a seasoning on them that really wanted to be on my fingers more than it wanted to be on the fries or my napkin. Like no matter how hard I tried to wipe it off there was still some of it on my fingers. Once again there was something about the flavor I didn't really like. My wife eventually offered up some of the aioli and it made it a little better but once again I didn't really like the flavor of the aioli. So for whatever reason the flavors there just aren't for me. My wife on the other hand was very excited about everything and was talking about all the things she was going to try the next time we visited. I didn't want to be a negative bummer during the meal but I was thinking she was going to have to come back with someone other than me. The restaurant is nice and they have very good service. There were a few other tables of large groups and it seems like this is a place that works well for get togethers. Parking is not adequate at all. We got a spot but only because we got there at 4:50 for dinner. I overheard other people talking about the trouble they had finding a spot.

Aubergine Kitchen has a large menu for standard meals, but also a la carte items like you'd find at a bakery/cafe. Everything was super speedy and pleasant and the decor was very nice, clean, and modern too. They also have healthier, clean options that are flavorful and delicious. Portion sizes were generous and everything was cooked really well. They got a well-oiled machine working here. I know it's a franchise and I haven't been to other locations, but this one was great.

All of our food was incredible. The bowls were a good portion size, reasonable prices, full of fresh ingredients, and had great flavor. The Brazilian cheese bread was so good. We loved that they had dairy free nice cream and the olive oil pistachio Sunday was so rich and balanced. My only critiques are that I didn't see a kids menu, so we spent more than we'd like to spend on the baked chicken bites and two sides of rice. Also it'd be way more inclusive if single stall restrooms weren't gendered.

It's like dining in a sun-soaked courtyard by the sea. Yes, it's a little kitschy--but in the best way. It totally adds to the charm. I've been here a few times, and every visit's been a win. It has a true mom-and-pop vibe, the staff is always warm, and while things can slow down when it's busy, that just means everything's made fresh--and worth the wait. (I don't mind. I came to enjoy, not rush.) This round: We started with a crisp, fresh salad and their classic hummus with pita--simple, bright, and the perfect kickoff. I had the Koofteh Meatballs--jumbo Persian-style beef meatballs stuffed with apricots, simmered in a tangy tomato sauce and served with basmati rice. The meat? Tender. The sauce? A whole flavor moment. My other half went with the Bagala Polow, a slow-stewed lamb shank served on dill basmati rice with lima beans and a side of lamb au jus. That dill rice? Unexpected and so, so good. Bonus points for the community vibes: While we were dining, someone celebrated a birthday--and they shared their mango cake with the whole restaurant. Such a sweet surprise that shows the spirit of the place. Final thoughts: Decor - Slightly kitschy, totally charming. Like eating in a postcard. Food - Flavorful, fresh, and made with heart. Community - The kind of place that turns strangers into dinner party guests. Our go-to for Mediterranean eats--highly recommend!
