Stopped in for quick lunch stop to grab my free pulled pork sandwich which I have done in the past and explained to the cashier that I didn't eat pork and in the past they have replaced my sandwich with a brisket sandwich. Today the cashier said hold up and left me up front for about 5 minutes and came back and said that he couldn't do it but can have a turkey one. I explained that they gave me the brisket in the past but today was an issue spoke with the GM Chris and he said it cost too much. I explained I drove all the way from work and still he said it cost to much. Mind you that was not all I was ordering. Very unsatisfied with the service and how it was handled. We needed to feed a group of 6 and were looking for some good barbecue near our place. I read the reviews on Yelp and GQue seemed like a winner. While I'm not a BBQ connoisseur, I know it's hit or miss on flavor and doneness. Well, GQue nailed it on both! We ordered meat by the pound, as well as some side dishes. Here's the lineup: Beef Brisket, Chicken, Pulled Pork, Mac and Cheese, Mashed Potatoes and Apple Coleslaw. We ordered online for delivery. When you order the meat, you have a BBQ sauce option (Topper, Hottish or no sauce). It was a little confusing. Topper is just the name of their standard sauce, while Hottish is well......hotter. The sauce came on the side, which is perfect. Both were delish. The brisket was perfectly cooked and super tender and by far the biggest hit with the group. The chicken was surprisingly tender as well, cut into small bite-sized pieces and very juicy. The pulled pork was smoked nicely and tender as well. All were a winner! The sides were a mixed bag. Coleslaw was kind of bland and unmemorable. The mashed potatoes were red potatoes with skin on and white gravy. 1/2 the clan loved them and 1/2 could take them or leave them. Mac and cheese was tasty and perfect mix of creamy and cheesy. This is not an inexpensive dinner. The price point for the meat by the pound is very on par with other BBQ restaurants. My only negative was pricing on the sides. We ordered the 'double' size of all of them (pictured) at $6.59 each. I believe these containers are ¼ lb., so it just felt a little steep. Pretty good BBQ in the Centennial area. Price point wasn't too bad for the quantity and quality of BBQ. They offer several options of BBQ sauce which was nice. Ordered the lean brisket and it was fork pull apart which I love and the spices on the meat was generously seasoned with the right amount of salt. Some places I have tried in the past was missing the salt which just ruins the BBQ. When I am back in Denver Centennial area I will definitely return. Gotta say this place is reallllly impressive. There used to not be much BBQ around Denver, and now there are many, but this place is managing to truly be unique and GOOD! I'm a big fan of BBQ sauce, and the variety of flavors around that. They have two here, fairly basic, but both are good, and with the ribs, I actually felt they were great stand alone without the sauce...but both sauces complimented the meat well. The mac & cheese looked great in all the pics so I gave that a shot for my side, and I think it was just an off day as it was a bit more noodles and missing the cheese sauce, but the little bit I could taste of the cheese was good. It would be nice if they offered a meat platter combo deal. The meat is high quality for sure, so it is a bit pricey if you are looking to try a few of the meats not by sandwich. I dislike onions and loved their rings! The mashed potatoes were delightfully garlic-y and the gravy so flavorful. The slaw was crisp and fresh and NOT mayo based so it was just delicious! I was also impressed with the Mac and cheese! Not heavy with plasticy cheese like so many. It was just flavorful and good! The brisket is the bomb, the ribs will melt in your mouth, the pulled pork is tender, soft, and moist...there isn't a bad thing here! 15/10 would absolutely recommend. Not being too familiar with the Park Meadow Mall area, this location was a little tricky for me to find as it is not in the mall or along the outer edge where the other restaurants are but somewhat in-between. Nevertheless, when I arrived, this location was packed full, and pretty much standing room only. I did manage to find a table and shortly thereafter my food was brought to me. The pulled pork was juicy and tender, the coleslaw was fresh and crisp and the bun was soft and buttery. Well worth the trouble it took me to navigate through the maze like parking lot. Exceeded my expectations, though my expectations for BBQ is never high in colorado. We ordered brisket, turkey, ribs, sausage, pulled pork, Texas toast, pickles, pickled onion, and sweet tea. The brisket was cooked well, but lacked seasoning. For one thing, it passed the brisket pull test, so I was impressed by that. I ordered moist, and I got the fatty slices, as requested. The meat had a good smokey flavor that I liked, but I would prefer a healthy salt and pepper rub on the outside too. This style of brisket required sauce to finish it. Sauce wasn't great nor bad. The pulled pork was tragically dry and bland, with subtle smoke. I needed to sauce it a ton, and by the time the meat was moist enough, it was too sweet from all the sauce. It would probably be okay in a sandwich with a dressed slaw to help out. Turkey was outstanding. The bbq meat that I least look forward to was probably the best thing here. Sausage was okay, the unique spice mix was just not my preferred spices. The ribs were almost really good. The meat right next to the bone was tender enough, but could have been more tender. The meat beyond the bone was tough like jerky. There are techniques to stop that from happening, so I'm displeased to see that they were unable to prevent it. Flavor was decent though. The Texas toast was not thick enough to be called Texas toast! But bread is always appreciated. Pickles were average. I loved the pickled onions though. They also handed out samples of their homemade ice cream. I'm so glad that I tried a sample because it killed my curiosity and I didn't have to spend money on that disaster of an "ice cream." It seemed like it was overchurned or something. Frozen, awkwardly flavored butter is what it tasted like. We tried pumpkin spice ice cream and banana cream ice cream. It was so bad that we couldn't finish the super tiny sample amount, and then we joked about it. Come here for the BBQ, not for the dessert. The food is always delicious and plenty of it! It is some of the most incredible meat/bbq I've ever had. There are a lot of options here to choose from with sides and different kinds of meats and sauces. I often have enough food in one meal to be able to share with my wife it's so much food! It always comes out pretty fast too and with a smile from whoever is working here. The only issue I had at this location was the WiFi not working even with the password. Normally not a big deal but they really would like people to be using the app here and we wanted to be able to do that. And the ketchup bottle had very sour ketchup in it. This could either be from being left out too long or maybe a kid opened it up and put something in it. But we mentioned it to someone working here and they were very thankful and kind and said they were going to fix that. But everyone at this location and others are kind hardworking good people. Sooooo...the halfway point of my 14 days, 14 cities and 14 restaurants trip. Today I was at GQue BBQ. Mind you, this isn't a BBQ tour, but going the Midwest route, that's kinda the emblematic food of each region. So kansas city yesterday, Denver today. GQues...was phenomenal!! They used the low and slow method and added some of their own touches to their items. I'll go over everything I tried. Sausage: the sausage was, in my taste, kind of the perfect type of sausage. It was cooked to perfection with that smoke flavor, but had jalepeno and cheddar inside it as well, which gave an extra hit of flavor and a perfect amount of heat. Not enough to scare anyone away, not too little to be considered weak. Pork Ribs: Another great preparation of ribs. Very thick, full of meat, and the most important thing, is that when u take a bite...all u see afterwards is bone...that means they're cooked until tender. The difference with their ribs is a slight touch of sweetness, with some brown sugar in their rub, which was surprisingly great with the other elements. I mean, I've been at 5 amazing BBQ places in 6 days...they each have been great with small differences that make then unique. But so tender, so flavorful, no need for BBQ sauce, delicious!! Brisket: Now, I've said before how I like the things sliced brisket better because my Texas brisket experiences haven't been that good. GQue uses the thick cut of brisket, the difference, they only use top grades of meat, and they cook it for something like 18 hours...I forget exactly, but I will say, as far as thick cut brisket goes...it is the best I've had. I can't really compare it to thin sliced brisket because they're different things. The next one is the boldest statement I've made thus far... Chicken Wings: Now, I have had tons of chicken wings in my life...but never have I ever had then like this. They cook the low and slow with an amazing seasoning, then when they take them out...they flash fry them!! These are THE BEST CHICKEN WINGS I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!! The tenderness, the flavor, and the texture from the flash fry...you have to visit CO to try these wings!! In summary, the staff was amazing, shout out to Nick, and the owner Jason, they have a great operation going, and you need to try this place...honestly for BBQ junkies, follow my path...they've been great but alllll different. GQue could be my favorite spots for BBQ in the burbs. It's clean. The food is consistently good and flavorful, and the service has always been friendly. You might be asking yourself, "It's by the mall. Isn't it just mall food?" It's so much better than mall food. It's a standalone, order-at-the-counter restaurant, not a spot in the food court. It's casual and fast, so it's a great place to go before or after going to the mall or movies. We've had the chicken wings and sandwiches here, which were both great. The flavors are big without being overpowering, and the sauces give you some variety to go with it. We're looking forward to trying the ribs soon. You know what they say, you only get one chance to make a good first impression. One and done at this location. My wife agreed to go here for lunch finally since I always talk about the one in Westminster that my work buddies and I go to. But this visit was it. Got there about 11:45 Sunday and there was a number of people there already. Looked at the specials like I always do at Westminster. And I always have the wings, whether as the special or from the menu (buffalo style). The sign had Bourbon Peach Glazed wings of the week but they had a big Sold Out sticker on it, bummer, those sounded great. But keep the Sold Out sticker in mind for the end of this review. The other special was a brisket taco, one for $5 or 2 for $8. We decided we each wanted a taco so we ordered the 2 for $8, wife ordered a side salad, I ordered the dry rub wings since I had not tried them in Westminster, and my usual order of onion rings. The staff was generally nice but my wife noticed after we had been sitting a while that a couple that came in well after us got their food, already. I believe she said some other people after us got their food too. So we waited and I could tell she was getting ticked. We finally got our order. Everything looked good, but the taco was so small I was a little shocked. It tasted pretty good but they could have put some food in it, for $4 a piece. The onion rings were soft, like they were under cooked, but I think they were fried and sat under a heating lamp for a while. And the dry rub wings... I have a smoker myself and have mentioned before that I like to try other cooks goods. I also make my own rubs, have never bought it from the store. And you know what I put a very limited amount of in any of my rubs, SALT! The dry rub wings were so damn salty I had to douse them with ranch to quell the saltiness. And when I got to the last 2 in the bottom of the paper tray they were sitting in a puddle of grease, YUK! I was not impressed at all. I love the smoked wings but these were the worst. We did have one of the women staff notice we were done and she took our trays from us, thank you again. Then I noticed a guy, manager, owner, not sure. He was making his way by the booths when I noticed him, asking patrons how things were. As we were getting up from our table to leave he walked right by me/us, no eye contact, nothing, not a peep. And as we are leaving I looked back up the specials board because something looked different, the damn Sold Out sticker was gone from the wings of the week. WTH!? That really did it. I have been pumped that GQue was going to be at the 2019 Denver BBQ Festival because we get the VIP passes, but now you have slipped to near the bottom of my list when we visit the VIP areas. I usually enjoy brisket burnt ends at bbq places, but the pulled pork here is great! The other yelp elite Shea mentioned when ordering brisket ask for moist! Because I've ordered brisket multiple times and it was lean one time and the moist does taste juicier and better! The Cherry chipotle wings were ok, I will try the dry rub next. We hadn't tried the seasoned fries before, I thought that they were tasty, but my wife thought that they were a little too salty. The beans were very good. OK STOP AND READ! I'm an ice cream addict who drove down from Denver to try Ice Cream Farm BUT as soon as I opened the door and smelled the bbq immediately pivoted my plans. Decided to get lunch first, walk the mall, then come back for dessert! Best decision. Since I didn't want to overdo it, I ordered the kids meal which included a slider, a side, and a drink. Perfect portion for me but next time I'll get more!! I selected the brisket slider, lean cut, since I'm a no go on fatty meats.
