The pork was dry and the ham pieces were so big that it was hard to eat with the rest of the sandwich. My wife got the Modena, which was way too drenched in balsamic that it became soggy and messy. The portions are huge so that's great, but I expected higher quality. The best part were the fries, they looked like soggy, thick cut fries, but were doubled fried and really crispy. Seems like one of the few places in Ithaca with outdoor dining. There's 2 tables outside for dining convenience. I got the coconut shrimp sub and my boyfriend got the Philly cheesesteak. My sub was a misnomer, there was no coconut to be seen but the sub was drenched in a sauce that tasted like Italian dressing. Far too sour and overpowered the sandwich. If I were on death row Gorgers would be my last meal. The panda wings are simply amazing. And nine dollars for a sub? My ever empty wallet weeps with joy. Nine dollars for a foot long sub overflowing with delicious ingredients. Plus, for their lunch special, it's eight dollars and you can get half of any sub, a drink, and a side (either fries, soup, or a salad). I mean, come on. Is there a better deal? Probably not. My personal favorites are the cabernet steak (I ask if they can add peppers- you should too) and the Chupacabra. I'm 100% confident in the fact that I could close my eyes, point to anything on the menu, and thoroughly enjoy eating it. All in all, 10/10. We were looking for a lunch spot during COVID, and we were so happy to have stumbled upon this place in downtown Ithaca. You can order ahead online, by phone or by going in person. We ordered the following: Small Banh Mi Pork Sub with flatbread, Small Chupacaba, Panda wings with blue cheese and ice-cream sandwich. We loved all the food. The portions are massive and small sandwich will definitely fill you up. For the Banh mi, it was generously filled with delicious pork, flavorful veggies of carrots and radishes and freshly made flatbread. It isn't the traditional banh mi but yummy nevertheless. After visiting this place several times and loving the sandwiches, I am sadly forced to leave this review. As the only party in the place on a Saturday afternoon, we were treated very poorly. The staff were on their phones texting while taking our order, forcing us to repeat multiple times. They then gave us incorrect items anyway. One young man made a gesture at us, unaware that someone in our party could see him. If you're going to talk bad about a customer, at least wait til they're out the door like everyone else!! Based upon the reviews of Gorgers subs our expectations were high. We didn't feel that the subs were 4 or 5 star worthy. Gorgers serves hot subs, no deli sandwiches. We didn't realize the size of these subs, they are HUGE. We could have easily split one. I had the Banh Mi and my husband had the Cuban. We ordered fresh chips to accompany our subs. Banh Mi was bland and was missing the key ingredient: Vietnamese Fish Sauce... don't call it Vietnamese-like food if you don't have it doused in Fish Sauce. In addition, it could've used a lot more cilantro. My husband said the Cuban was also bland. Not the mind-blowing experience that others raved about. Good, not great. read more

Bursting with flavor, bread just right, and just the right amount to fill you up but not too full (the small size was quite sizable). These subs are huge! Just one of them could easily fees two people. I ordered the Cuban and Modena to go. They were both good. However I had asked to substitute the pickles in the Cuban for tomatoes and lettuce, and the cashier had trouble understanding what I wanted. After a few minutes of back and forth he finally got it and entered it into the system. When I opened the sub, it only had Canadian ham and pulled pork. No pickles, but no tomatoes or lettuce either. Normally I wouldn't be so annoyed, but it was such a meaty sandwich and the Canadian ham made it very salty. An addition of any vegetable would have given a refreshing element and it could have easily bumped this up to 4 stars. Just make sure the person taking your order understands any changes you would like for your sub. The Modena is drenched in balsamic reduction, which I love. But it was so messy to eat, especially how they wrapped it to go. Whenever I get subs to go they are double wrapped, which goes a long way especially when it's dripping with sauce! They also didn't distribute the reduction evenly, which is a shame because it did add a nice tang to the chicken. I'd recommend having lots of napkins handy when you're eating from here! I can see how this place would be popular with students but it needs to fix some hiccups before it really deserves a near perfect rating. read more
