Ray: Last week, on the night of our weekly forage, Josh suggested a place in Greenwood called Goridtos. He explained that this is the kind of place that you order at the counter, then they bring out the food, but there is beer. He had me at beer...
We headed out to Goridtos. It was easy enough place to find, with a small parking lot. We went in to find a rather lively establishment. There was Mexican Mariachi band music playing (not sure if its mariachi or not but it was lots of brass and singing), I loved it. I looked over the menu and bellied up to the order counter. I noticed they had Carne Asada on the menu, one of my favorites. I knew that "a place like this, you know, where you order from the counter" couldn't possibly make Carne Asada the way I like it, but I decided to see what it looked like all the same. Oh, and they had a delicious IPA on hand that I can't recall the name of.
Beers in hand, we took a table in the dining room and waited for our food to arrive. It didn't take very long either. When the server arrived with my plate, I literally said, "Wow!" I could not believe that I was looking at a plate of Carne Asada that looked as beautiful as any fancy Mexican restaurant I have eaten at. It was every bit as delicious as well. I was one HAPPY customer. And to top it off, it was a fraction of the price of the fancier places who's name will not get mention.
I know what I like, and I like Goridtos. Five stars for one of my favorite new places (new to me). I will, and have already, recommended Goridtos to friends and family - and you.
Josh: This Thursday I wanted to go someplace that would be a little faster then a traditional restaurant experience because I had tickets to a show down at the Columbia City Theater. So, for that reason, we ended up at Gorditos in Greenwood.
I've been to Gorditos a couple times before, even visited the one in Everett once while waiting for a Tool concert at the Everett Event Center (is it still called that?). Always had a good experience there, and last Thursday was no exception.
Gorditos is an order-at-the-counter type of place, with a menu taped up near the register, and the kitchen just behind that. I decided on the burrito with chicken, served "wet". You can order burritos served "wet" or "dry", basically its smothered in red salsa, sour creme and cheese, very highly recommended by this reviewer as well as the menu itself.
We went to our tables with the beers we ordered and some chips and salsa. The Salsa probably could have been a little more spicy, but there is a little table set up with a few more options for salsa, and I found the burn I was looking for at that table.
The wait was very short and the meals were brought out. The burrito looked absolutely amazing, and tasted exactly to match the looks. The chicken was so tender and perfectly cooked, the burrito was a real treat. It was moist (please pardon my use of the word) without being watery.
The only thing wrong with this dining experience was the wailing child we shared the dining room with. Who could possibly cry so much (or so loudly) when you're in the dining room of Gorditos?? I can't imagine experiencing anything short of bliss while there, but this child found a way. It's clearly not the fault of Gorditos, and I can plainly recognize that, so I will not hesitate in awarding Gorditos with a full 5 stars. Very, very delicious food at affordable prices. read more
