I was craving donuts like a MADWOMAN one afternoon, so I hopped onto Yelp and looked up the best donut place in Cerritos. Goody's popped up first in my search, and after oogling at the tiger tail pictures for an entire day (wishing they hadn't closed at noon), I woke up at 6am the next morning to satisfy my craving. Did Goody's live up to my expectations? BY GOD, YES IT DID!! Holy jeebus that tiger tail was like heaven in my mouth. With the sugar coating creating a perfect, crusty texture on the outside and the soft, fluffy dough on the inside giving just the slightest hint of chocolate, each heavenly glazed bite immediately melted in my mouth (who knew donuts could do that). $1.25 per tiger tail may be a little bit pricey compared to their other donuts (mostly around $.70) but that twisted sugary stick of fluffy goodness was worth it x 38572983 I also got two dozen donut holes for only $1 each. Holy cow, could that be a better deal? Their donut holes are bite sized versions of their other godly donuts - the delicious glazed coating and melt-upon-bite dough on the inside are all still there. The place also had a sweet little lounge/seating area in the back which you don't see very often at small donut shops. It gave me a nice place to sit down for a little while and relax while savoring my buttery glazed treats. My only gripe (like everyone else's) is that they close so dang early. But hey, maybe that's what makes me crave their donuts even more. I want what I can't have. Marketing strategy? Or maybe the owner needs some sleep so he can open up shop at FREAKING 3 AM I'm going back tomorrow morning at 6AM. I don't care if I'm exhausted from waking up for work. I need my Goody's fix. The best glazed and chocolate iced donuts in the area hands down. Always so fresh and so doughyyyyyyy. Oh and for some reason I love to get the chocolate ones in the shape of a big foot and gnaw off the toes first... and no I do not have a foot fetish thank you very much. I've been coming to this donut shop for over 20 years, ever since my dad and mom used to hold my hands as we crossed the street to get here, and nothing has changed. Man, this place is heaven! Today was my first time here, and instantly Tony (the owner) greeted me and joke around with my "She looked better on Facebook" T-Shirt. "Yeah they do look better on facebook, even the grandmas.."- Tony LMFAO! That's how you know this place is legit. If the owner is cool, then the donuts are cool. Got myself a dozen donut holes and a creme donut. Talk about fresh! Tony said that most donut owners cook their stuff the night before then sell them the following day. Not him! He makes his batch the day of and after a number of hrs my donuts still felt soft and fluffy! Amazing! Texturally, some of the best donuts these off-whites have sunken into. I got lucky one day and happened to be in the area and stopped by after visiting the nearby UPS hub. Donuts were just coming out and getting ready for a glazing. Sleepy-eyed customers sat with coffee in hand, half-eaten donuts sitting lazily on a napkin. I steered my attention from patron to donut and found exactly what I'd been looking for, the maple bar. The gold standard, in my opinion. These guys had just gotten the maple treatment and my appetite patiently awaited a proper introduction. One to go and I was on my way back to the office. The next red light was the best red light I've ever had. One bite and I was sold. Even better than the sweet maple glaze on the roof of my mouth, was the initial crunch of that first bite. That bar was fried just enough to give that outer layer the crunch it deserved, even after a few minutes of being bathed in oil and covered in maple goodness. A crunchy donut is what everyone needs a red light on their way to work. The red light couldn't have lasted long enough. Fast forward a few months and the bro ham decided to bring a bag full of goodness over to share during my move. Best bag ever. Tiger tail insanity. Soft, cakey, sugary energy, exactly what I needed to hoist box after box into cars. No maple bars made the trip this time, but all is still well. I wish I had read the reviews for this place before I went! My boyfriend was craving donuts so we chose this place but I was soooooo skeptical!!!! The shop looked questionable & I'd never heard of the place. Anyways, he ordered two dozen donut holes and i was like whatttttt?!?!?! I'm the one with a sweet tooth. I got a cream filled donut. Needless to say I was wonderfully and fantastically surprised ! The donuts were good. NOT dry whatsoever. And I loved the generous vanilla cream filling! It was awesome. How can you not like Goody's Donuts? Sure, their exterior looks plain and vintage, and they are off to the side of a strip-mall. But they have yummy tasting donuts. My favorite place to stop and get donuts for the guys at work. The staff is always helpful and when I'm stopping in at 5:00 a.m. hot donuts are flying out of the fryer, through the glaze bin and into my flat dozen box! One of the few places that makes a good Tiger Tail- a twist of raised donut and chocolate cake donut in one, glazed and delicious. Seriously one of the best- maybe better than the famous Tiger Tail of Mr. Donut! The hours (3 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) mean that if you're not there in the morning you're not getting donuts- it also means that everything is super fresh. They will even occasionally say "the xxxxx donuts will be out of the fryer in 1 minute do you want to wait for fresh ones?". Amazing. This place is no chain store- great, fresh donuts, decent prices and amazing service. Never understood the craze about donut shops. They all kind of taste the same to me. I've had M&M blueberry donuts; I've had fresh Krispy Kremes. I've had highly rated beignets and hush puppies. Hell, I even went to a random donut shop in the ghettos of Escondido because it was highly rated on Yelp and tried McDonald's donuts in Eastern Europe(yes, McDonald's even sells donuts in parts of the world). While there is a difference between different donuts in terms of toppings and texture, the bottom line is that donuts are always kind of the same. Ultimately, fried dough is fried dough. This place is pretty good in terms of donuts; the taste is up there, even when they aren't freshly made. The taste is not at the level of a fresh Krispy Kreme donut or a Blueberry donut from M&M's, but the donuts here are a cut above the average shop. My one qualm about this place is that the opening hours are not conducive to the late riser, and something about eating a hunk of fried dough in the morning is offputting. read more

The BEST donuts I have ever eaten! This is not a compliment I simply hand out lightly. It has to be earned and Goody Donut's definitely earns this praise. One thing me and my friends debate over is how Krispie Kreme lacks that certain local donut shop feel and me being the KK apologist my response is often at least it mixes things up and offers a different taste to the donut genre. Now, I love me some donuts but aside from being a loyalist to Randy's by my house. Their isn't much variation in taste and quality from donut shop to donut shop. This is until I made the trek over to Goody's one early morning. Wow! I don't know what type of care they put into every tasty morsel but man...it's like waking up from a deep sleep. Yelpers let me down on this one. We love getting donuts in Cali. Went here only because yelp gave it a high rating. First off when we went in the guy was sleeping on counter. The other guy tried to wake him up but he didn't budge. Thought it was funny but someone else might have been offended. The donuts didn't look as fresh or as fluffy as we usually see. This is my favorite donut shop. Being located in my hometown, I had the pleasure of frequenting this place often as I grew up. I would walk here with friends where we'd complain about our algebra homework as we ate delicious donuts. Some of my favorites include the tiger's tail, the maple bar, the glazed twist, and the donut holes. It's seriously magic with a piping hot black coffee. But based on the reviews, I had to try the tiger tail ($1.25). Pretty damnnnnn good. I thought it was pretty incredible that my donut was still warm. My first bite was spectacular, there was a slight crunch upon first bite and from there.. as Pineapple C. said, heavenly pillowy softness on the inside. My second yelp review will be a positive one. I discovered this place after looking for 5 star places near me. Low and behold it's a donut shop! Donuts are considered to be one of the new super foods if you haven't heard. Much like the recently discovered magical powers of the yummy sardines! Research studies have proven that donuts will promote youth and turn back the clocks of time. It's also suggested that eating a donut a day will make you healthy, wealthy and wise. Now go get some donuts!! With out any doubt this place rocks! The chocolate bars and sugar donuts are perfect. This place is definitely one of the better doughnut shops within a 5 mile radius or so. They make them fresh all day, so you often get them warm. Not the biggest variety compared to some, but what they have are good. While the tiger tail & apple fritter are quite good, I find the apple fritter somewhat heavy/greasy, so it sits with for a while( not so good). Eat them right away for max enjoyment. read more

I used them for my wedding. I got like 200 donuts and there were no donuts left. Many people in attendance were from the South or from some other distant country and I still hear about how awesome they thought the donuts were. Looked for donut shop near my work and found this place. Guy in front of me ordered 3 dozen donuts and the cashier was using a calculator to add up all the donuts ... he was adding it three times to make sure he had it right and still was slow in taking his order when he wanted coffee .. people was also cutting in front of me giving the other cashier cash and she totally ignored me AFTER she took my order. I came into this shop this morning to buy 3 dozen donuts for my office. I seldom buy donuts so I didn't know where to go. I came to this place based on the number of stars it has. Before the lady working behind the counter started boxing my purchase, she told me it was cash only. I love Goody's Donuts like a fat girl loves donuts. Wait, does that makes sense? Every once in a while my Sunday morning begins with a HUGE cup of coffee to compensate for staying out late the night before and a donut dripping with sugary goodness. The problem is that I will not settle for a Krispy Kreme or some chain donut establishment. Thank you Yelp for helping me find Goody's.
