Before I give my review, I would caution anyone considering any type of service repair done here. As a VW Master Mechanic for Arizona Proving Grounds and who is well aware of shady shops and cut corner garage mechanics. Goodyear Auto Repair in Mesa is just a prime example of a money hungry and dishonest shop with no concern for its customers, as I found out with a basic oil change service. You may ask yourself, why wouldnt I do the oil change myself? Well, its actually cheaper take it to have it done then doing it yourslf not to mention cleaner. Shops dont make anything on oil changes and they need to up sell you on other services to make profit. As I waited an hour and half to have a my oil change done, I listened to the service writer try to upsell me on a brake flush that was just done last service by me. Two hours had passed when they called me up to pay for the vehicle service. As i was driving home, all i could think to myself is to check their work. Sure enough, I found that they did not replace or touch the oil filter. The vehicle that I had service on was a 2013 VW Jetta TDI which requires a paper filter replacement which is under the engine cover. I also marked the filter housing to ensure that they at least would open it. To my disappointment i saw that it wasn't touched. As a mechanic, I would not trust them to change a light bulb. read more

Went in to have my front brakes and front rotors changed, which I'm well aware the parts for that are less than $100 so I'm expecting maybe a $200 or so quote. Got a call quoting me a whopping $1400 for everything they felt needed attention. I told them I just needed the breaks and rotors I originally asked for and they came back with $700. Only when I told them I would be coming to pick up my vehicle because anywhere else would do the job for under $300, they "magically" found a coupon and were able to get the price down to $300. So they knew they were trying to take me for an extra $400. Disgusting! read more

I just wanted an oil change and I get quoted $400 to replace an oil pan and oil drain plug.

The staff seemed friendly, until I got my car back after denying their $300 brake replacement job. They broke an item in my car and they refused to admit it, plus the AC was on full blast. read more

After a bad experience I contacted corporate and I could tell that they were working hard to make this store good. Lee the District Manager attempted to contact me several times and was very apologetic and gave me confidence that my first experience was an isolated event. I will try their other location in Gilbert next time. read more

Got an oil change for $25, and only took half an hour. I was also offered a new master cylinder for a nice price as well. Austin was helpful, and other employees were attentive to oncoming customers read more

This shop is located with in walking distance of where we live. The service even though there has been some turn over in the 2+ years we have been going there is still pretty good. The shop is honest and when it couldn't do something gave helpful suggestions for a different mechanic to take care of bigger fix needs. We go here for our regular oil changes and small fixes. I think the only complaint I would have is the wait. They are very slow and we always I mean always have to wait 1-2+ additional hours from when we were quoted. However since it's so close we put up with the inconvenience. read more

I have been a customer with this establishment for little over an year, they treat you fair, every time I go to have my oil changed and everything checked under the hood, tires rotate, add air in tires, They always have an special offer, this time I was able to receive 2 new wipers for my Jeep with an oil change. read more

Called and spoke to Ken about scheduling my car to get new tires. He told me he could get the tires I needed the next day but that if I ordered online, I would get them cheaper. He assured me that if I scheduled for the 5pm time slot, my car would be done in an hour so I could have it that same day. So I ordered my tires online, scheduled an appointment for two days out. Well my tires looked even worse the next day, so I went to Goodyear to see if they had the tires in yet and they did! I thought great! Now I don't have to drive on these unsafe tires. Ken told me that he had me in the system for that day and they would put my new tires on that night. I gave him the keys and was feeling really impressed with this place. Then, Jeff the service manager comes up and says that they can't find my order in their computer. I showed him my confirmation email and told him that the money had already been taken from my account. Jeff told me that they had to wait until tomorrow to call corporate and get an authorization for my order. But in the mean time, they would not give me my car. Jeff told me that they were putting the tires on my car but I couldn't leave with my car. They had my money, they had started service on my car, but they would not let me take it. I was forced to shell out more money for a rental so I could get to work. I called to speak with the manager Gary the next day. He tells me that my new tires still had not been put on my car. He said that it takes an hour and a half to put tires on and they never have cars ready the same day if they are scheduled at 5. So I was lied to twice. Once when Ken told me to schedule at 5 and my car would be done that day. And again when Jeff told me they were putting my tires on that evening. Gary was very professional and assured me my car would be taken care of first thing and they would reimburse me for my rental car. I appreciate how Gary handled it but for $400 for new tires, this was way too shady of an ordeal. I feel I was being taken advantage of as a soft spoken "young lady" as Ken kept calling me. When he saw that I was upset about not getting my car back, Ken offered to give me a hug if it wouldn't get him in trouble. I don't want a hug. I want to not be given the run around and to not have my car held hostage. read more

Ken lewis was so AWESOME! He made my stay very comfortable, and provided excellent service thanks so much

Stay far away!! Messed my car up for the long term, no preventive maintenance offered for a vital issue with the type of car I have, spent $1800 someplace else to get it fixed correctly and will have to spend an additional $300-$400 a year to try and reverse some damage done to the car. Talked to the DM, got some resolution, but it does not erase the long term damage to my car. Stay far, far away, they admittedly do have the knowledge to work on cars, nor the desire to do some research on a vehicle, they would rather just tell you it is an old car and have you go on your way! (BTW-my car is an '08) I was a 20 year customer, now someone else can have my money, I will NEVER be back! read more

I've taken my car to these guys numerous times and they have always taken good care of me. They make sure I'm aware of any possible upcoming issues and never ma.ke situations worse than it really is. I'm fairly knowledgeable with cars but never inform them of that. They never tried to rip me off and have called with a plan rather demanding that unbroken things be fixed. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for car repairs or even just tires read more

I wouldn't trust them to change my bicycle tire. Very manipulative in trying to claim alignment is bad, need new air filter even though it was just changed a week ago. Never coming here again! read more

Very satisfied with my experience at this Mesa Goodyear! Bought 4 new tires for my daughter's car. The staff was very friendly and helpful. As a woman that does not know a lot about cars, I felt they treated me with respect and did not take advantage of the fact that I didn't know much about cars. They did not try to 'up sell' me on anything and because of that, I would definitely do business with them again. When they realized the car would be sitting for a couple months over the summer, they did make recommendations on how to 'summerize' the car and told me which auto shops I could find the products at. Because I am not from the area, the manager, Gary, helped me find the auto store and pick out the correct product after he finished work, on his own personal time. Very happy customer and would definitely recommend this Goodyear! read more

Great service!! Went there today for an oil change. It took about a little more than an hour. I thought they were a quick lube service but they were actually a full service facility. This is great. Now I can go there for my maint services. The people are very friendly as well. read more

Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!! I just wanted to take a minute and tell you how great my Goodyear experience was today. I visited your shop on 50 N. Dobson Rd. I was met at the counter by Joe. He was my hero of the day! He was kind, helpful, understanding and had all the answers. Alas-I cannot leave out Zach. He was the technician that worked on my truck. He rocks too! This all started the day before when I made the horrible mistake of taking my truck to Fletcher's for an oil change, tire rotation and a full safety inspection. I was getting ready to leave for a road trip back home to Oregon so I repeatedly explained how important it was to have a thorough inspection. Well..... when I got my truck home it was leaking oil due to their sloppy job but I still gave them the benefit of the doubt. This morning at 6 a.m. right before we hit the road I checked the tires and lo and behold one was at 20 psi. and had a nail in it. Hence my trip to see Joe and Zach. Joe had an inspection done and then went through with me exactly what he thought should be done. Needless to say they fixed the problems Fletcher's made plus caught some others they had missed. Joe gave me a great price and made me feel very comfortable about getting back on the road. It was an overall great experience. The team at Goodyear rocks! Your team needs a raise!!!! I will look into going to a Goodyear when I get back home. Thanks again. read more

I have been getting my oil changes and minor repairs there for years, and was very happy. I remember one nice guy in particular, I think his name was Mike. I would just call and ask if I could come in, and the answer was always yes, without a formal appointment. Today I called about 3:30, gave my name and mentioned that I had been going there for years. I asked what was the latest I could arrive and get an oil change. I was told "We are open until 7, but it would be nice if you could arrive before before 6" On the phone I also asked whether they still would rotate my tires (purchased there) for free and other details. I got there about 5:45. The guy behind the counter did not seem very familiar. Maybe they had a change of management or personnel? He asked for my name, then went into the shop. He came back and said they were full and couldn't get me in today. He said he had mentioned my name to the guys in the shop, and nobody remembered speaking to me. Maybe I should have insisted and rehashed more of the phone conversation, but the person behind the counter certainly didn't invite further conversation. I was so shocked at the contrast to what I was used to experiencing, that I just commented "this is terrible" and left. It seems to me that something about the place has changed, and I can no longer justify driving the extra distance to that shop. read more
