I've been on a thrifting frenzy lately and I stopped here for the first time yesterday. I had a few things I was determined to find during this trip and I got super lucky! I purchased a few clothing items, an art piece, a set of plates that matched the ones I thrifted two years ago, and found a tote I've been wanting for a while. Overall a great haul. I went the next day with my friend Beth, who is carrying her first baby, and she was able to find a cute onesie for her future baby, as well as an adorable pastel maternity dress and a cute lacey top which will be perfect for a maternity photoshoot! They keep this place pretty organized; the racks tend to get messy but the workers do their best to keep it all nice and neat. I just wish patrons would be mindful about cleaning up after themselves after using the fitting rooms. Also, they close the fitting rooms one hour before closing, so plan accordingly! read more

This Goodwill is one of their larger format stores complete with four dressing rooms. Their prices are pretty much in line with every other Goodwill in Austin. If you want to save more and you're a senior, come on Tuesday and save 30%, otherwise they do have 50% off certain color tags. One thing I noticed about this Goodwill is that it has a higher concentration of clothing than most stores. Clothing accounts for 75% of the floor. All the shoes sit above the clothing racks and all the housewares are off to the side of the store. They do have some water fountains and bathrooms that do not require a key. read more

Did not expect my morning to start off with by being yelled at but here we are. I tried leaving a donation of clothing and children's items but was met by a very rude goodwill employee. She yelled at me asking what I was even doing and that they dont open until ten, when I asked about dropping off what I has she got even louder and said "WHY SO THE HOMELESS CAN JUST TEAR IT UP?" It was a mess, and I can see how that would be stressful but this women was just plain hateful. I tried donating to another goodwill (Brodie ill leave a review there as well) and was met with the same hostility. So much for GOOD will. read more

Today I had an encounter with the manager. I believe her name is Stephanie. I was looking through the baskets that were brought out just like everyone else was. She gave me the ugliest tone and looked at me saying "I'm doing something". She sounded like a parent gripping at a child. She wouldn't give me her name or information for anyone above her. I spoke to the cashier and she told me the managers name is Stephanie and she talks to her employees that way also. That is NOT manager material and she should treat the employees and customers with respect. When I immediately called her out after the way she talked to me her tone changed. I shop heer frequently and I have not seen her before. You can just tell she's rude and either needs to be fired or re trained in Management and Customer Service. read more

First of all, any restroom cleaning I will be doing is in my own home! Worst experience ever. After waiting in line for 20 minutes behind 2 people I get to the counter. My items were price with a price tag at .59 and 7.99. The clerk over charged me. Charged me $17.30. When I pointed out the simple little mask was .59 they stated it was $7.99 regardless of the price tag. I left the place knowing I'll NEVER shop at this Goodwill again. I was very impressed by the amount of really useful things here -- my friend and I managed to provision hard goods for two cats she was going to adopt for the cost of one new litterbox at PetSmart (about $33) - we got a litterbox (XL), two large water dishes, two food dishes, a large plastic cat carrier and toys! We also looked around for lamps for her apartment - the torchiere style lamps were a little worse for wear but there were a lot of really awesome lampshades and some very nice table lamps. Loads of books at really cheap prices, and tons of well organized clothes. Most importantly - the place does NOT smell like dirty clothes. Donating is super easy - we just pulled up to the covered area in the back and two nice, smiling men helped us unload and gave us a receipt. Service inside is super helpful and friendly, too. They also have bicycles at very reasonable prices! read more

Anytime I need a sports coat... Good will provides... Not only does it provide it provides cheap and quality. It provides corduroy', tweed you name it! It has awesome vintage shirts and dont get me started on the quality of the pants selection. I am unsure why, in general, Goodwills in Austin are super expensive comparably to Goodwills an hour away (San Antonio) or even a half hour away (San Marcos). I am completely stumped every time I come to Goodwill and find a dress to be almost $8-$10 each! I came to this location on their "Black Friday" sale where everything was 50% off. This location is HUGE and has plenty of stuff to rummage through. Lots of furniture and plenty of glassware too. Getting into the dressing room though was kind of confusing as there is a button to push to get assistance but no one ever came and I never heard a ring/ding from pushing the button. read more

1 Star Review because the manager made me run around town and waste my time to make a simple return! So I bought these video game controllers that didn't work from a different location and per their return policy you can return at any location within 7 days. I went to make the return and the manager would not let me return them, she told me I had to go to the original location to return them! She made it so difficult when it should be a very simple process! Needless to say I traveled around town and eventually returned them, but why make my life so hard?! I donate and shop at this Goodwill. Donating is easy as they have helpful and friendly helpers at the back door donation area. They always ask if I would like a receipt. The electronics can be a little overpriced but all in all I like this location. read more

Very rude and quite frankly inept staffing. I helped my uncle move out of storage nearby, but there was some furniture that would not fit in the van, a pull-out sofa bed and a large dining table. My uncle did not need either, so we decided to donate them to this Goodwill. As soon as we pulled up, the employee said they couldn't accept a sofa bed. The manager, Ms. Jennifer, walked out and said it was a "safety issue"; she recommended taking the sofa to the dump by the airport This GW took the table and couch cushions only. A customer walked up and suggested the GW in Montopolis. I drove over there and the supervisor WANTED the sofa because it would sell, but needed the cushions. He said it was bull this GW wouldn't take the sofa. So I had to drive BACK to this GW to get the cushions and I called on the way to make sure they still had the cushions. Ms. Jennifer picked up the call, but had me on hold the entire drive back. When my uncle and I arrived back, no one knew where the cushions were and when my uncle spotted them in a piled up bin, they refused us entry to retrieve them. The manager had to come over and tell employees to give them back. Long story short, this place is a joke for donating furniture and the management and staff is lacking in customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I love thrift shops, but this particular Goodwill location seems to be under stocked and overpriced. I found their prices on household goods way too high. In many cases, they were close to retail, and some times, more than I would pay for it new. Most people shop at thrift shops to save money. In addition, there are a lot of cracked, chipped and broken items in the housewares section. I am not sure there is a market for wine glasses with dings on the rim and cracks in the glass. They were also trying to sell pans with tattered and peeling non-stick finishes. They should have thrown those out. On the clothing and linens, there were a lot of items that should have gone to the rag bin. The clothing racks were sparse and many of the items were priced too high. I found a flat sheet that I would have been interested in, but again, the price was was double what I would have spent at another Goodwill or Savers. This is a thrift shop, not Neiman Marcus. They really need to standardize on their pricing. read more

I didn't go in this last time, so this is just about donations. I pulled up under the awning which is great if it is raining out and you don't want to get wet. It was just me and a couple of men came out to unload my car and were super friendly and helpful. They got my receipt and thanked me. All told, two massive boxes unloaded in maybe twenty second so don't even turn your car off as they are super quick and courteous. Will absolutely donate here again. read more

Okay, so I know I'm busting this place wide open and possibly increasing traffic to a place that already suffers from lack of parking during peak hours. BUT, this might be the best goodwill I've ever been to. That said... YES... prices are high. The coat pricing is ridiculous (I could pay that much for new). However, this, at the time of writing, was a lesser known Goodwill and still had amazing finds (NWT Missoni for Target and other cute gems). It's less "rifled through", much cleaner, and much more spacious than current Austin Goodwills. Sorry everyone who was trying to keep this location under wraps. This space opened on October 1st, 2011, and much like the Tarrytown Goodwill, benefits from the donations of the surrounding neighborhoods and Retail stores being of higher quality. Likely retirees based on the knick-knack department. And it is likely Target donates their castoffs here, based on the amount of NWT Target brand clothing. After my first visit, I'm anxiously awaiting the next major holiday. Note about location: Though it's technically the "Southpark Meadows" Goodwill, it's a bit before the actual complex. I donate here regularly. The staff are always helpful and usually nice. Coming during the week is easier. The inside is pretty large, with lots of selection. They have the bid only section. Interesting to watch it happen. Great kitchen cookware. Some nice stuff. Not sure how that compares price wise. read more

Updated review people! This goodwill is great! I flip furniture and 80% of the time leave here with something whether it be a pair of night stands or a dresser. This store is very organized and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I am always greeted when I enter. When I pickup furniture I am always treated with great customer service. As far as prices... They are FAIR!! San Antonio goodwill prices are ridiculous. As if you were shopping at the mall. Trust me I'm from San Antonio.... This goodwill along with Brodie lane are my favorite. When oh when will Goodwill realize that their books section is a disaster at almost every location. This location at least had full shelves. However, the shelving is a pain. The metal shelves are clearly not made for books. The books all get pushed back making them harder to look at, and the lower shelves require gymnastics to sort through. Your shoppers deserve better especially since the rest of the merchandise in the store seem to be organized well. read more

If the clothes were trendier and nicer I could understand why the prices were so high (for smelly used clothing) but the clothes are the same as any other Goodwill throughout Texas. I normally go to all the goodwills in Austin and I am very familiar with them and this is the first time I come here and to be honest I am very disappointed I expected way more since it's around a nice area. 1st of all everything is so unorganized and if felt very crowded I went in to buy my daughter some clothes and its not organized with the age group and also everything is mixed up I didn't get a pleasant feeling being there I actually got frustrated and I have a headache now this is probably the worst Goodwill location I have been to in Austin area I will never come here again and besides that it is very expensive isn't Goodwill supposed to help the people who don't have much to offer I don't understand why everything is so expensive y'all get everything free? read more

I have not been impressed overall by Austin Goodwill stores. The prices may not be any higher than other areas, and by other areas I mean those I'm familiar with in California and Arizona. I think they all tend to be a little higher price than they should be but at least in Arizona the stores have half off sales every other Saturday. That's right, twice a month everything in the store is half off. That's how you move things out. People move leave the store with grocery carts full of merchandise. At these Goodwills in Austin it seems like I only see people buying a couple items per person. I only bought one item. The good news was that it was Senior Day unbeknownst to me so I got a whopping one-third off. I still ended up paying over $2 for a small fleece baby blanket that had pills on it but it will do the job for the purpose I bought it for. I was hoping to find some yarn but I think I have yet to find one single skein or ball of yarn in any of the Goodwill stores I have been in. In comparison I see probably 10 to 12 bags of yarn every time I go into the local Savers Store. Each bag has two to four skins or balls of yarn in it which brings it down to $0.75/$1 per yarn, a perfect price for someone who knits mostly to donate to charities. Maybe the Austin Goodwills should send somebody to look around the stores in central Arizona to get an idea of what nice things they have and what a big turnout they have when they have their half-price sales. The more you sell, the more you can take in as donations, and the more money you make overall. Doesn't that make sense? read more

Seriously poor customer service. Bait switch on items that are clearly marked for higher prices. So guess they are training the professionals of the future, and it shows. I came specifically to buy area rugs, waited in the longest line to have someone with a poor education attempt to "splain" to me why the prices were almost double the stickers attached. Apparently this place is under new management and they are doing just as awful as the previous managers. The stuff is so overpriced! You can get the same Walmart and Target clothes they have there for cheaper at the stores they came from. All the dresses start at $9.99 too! Ripoff! The place smells like overly used bleach and sanitizers. Bathrooms are gross. I guess I should have expected all this at Goodwill. They don't offer refunds anymore, only store credit. They're VERY stingy with their money... I mean come on! Everything is labeled incorrectly too which is confusing as hell. Won't be returning here again, that's all.
